Title: A bounty

Lamya - November 18, 2004 02:54 AM (GMT)
Lamya entered the tavern, half-cloaked and ready to work. She had recently acquired a job as bounty hunter and was eager to start. She scanned the area, seeing only drunks and prostitutes. She shook her head sadly. When the place had first opened up, she had been optimistic. Thinking it would turn into a classy bar that allowed only bands that played classical music, she had found herself highly disappointed. The band currently playing was some new age music Lamya had never heard of. But it was a beginning. She spotted a table near the front so she could easily be seen. She pulled out a card that read, "Lamya- Bounty Hunter At Your Convenience". She chuckled when she re-read it and set it out on the table before her. Then she took a seat and waited.

Shynthriir - November 18, 2004 04:36 AM (GMT)
Shynthriir walked into the tavern with a purpose. He wanted to find someone, someone to hire for a very important job; to take the very life of Jimlander, a man who Shynthriir had a personal grudge against. There was no way for Shynth himself to come to the man and fight him, he was too well guarded for such an attack. If Jimlander was approached by another person, someone other than himself, then it just might work.

There was a woman in the corner, she had a card on her table. He decided to walk by and see that the card said, though he would do it in a manner that wouldn't show that he was any interested.

He walked toward the tabel and then got a quick glance at the card. This woman was a bounty hunter, just what he was looknig for. This was a great string of luck, something that he rarely had. He keep walking though and then turned into the shadows to conceal himself. He bleneded into the shadows and was near invisible.

He studied the woman and was then shocked, for she looked like a person that he had met long ago in his travels, a girl who was attacked and left to die in the streets. Shynthriir was weak then, unexperienced in the ways of the land, but now was different. He wondered if she recognized him when he walked past.

It didn't matter too much though, not now, not when he had a task at hand. He kept his voice low and said to the woman while hiding in the shadows for safety, just in case. Is the card correct?

Lamya - November 18, 2004 06:07 PM (GMT)
Lamya swiveled in her seat trying to find the owner of the voice. “Yes it is. I am a bounty hunter. Do you have business to bring to me?” Her eyes flickered golden and she whispered a silent spell. Then her eyes were able to see through the darkness which the man was hiding in. “You look familiar.” She studied him trying to figure out where she had seen him before. But it did not matter much as long as he wanted to hire her. She grasped her card and got up, heading for the corner to which the man was hiding. “You need not hide. I promise not to bite.” She laughed softly and held the card out to him. “Why don’t you join me? We can talk business.” The voice inside her head was trying to tell her something about the stranger but she couldn’t quite grasp it. She knew he had been a part of her past somehow but when and why? She shook the thoughts from her head not wanting to ruin her first job venture.

Shynthriir - November 19, 2004 02:52 AM (GMT)
Shynthriir looked about, he hid to make sure he wasn't beening followed as well as any other reason that he had, though he wouldn't tell Lamya that, for that was her name from the card and his own memory. He came to where she was sitting and sat down. He looked into her eyes and knew her to be the same lovely woman that he had met those months before.

I have a job for you, he said beofre thinking about what would happen if she did in fact recognise him, perhaps by his voice. He didn't want to make past feeling conflict with the job he wanted, though he wanted to just blurt it all out. He took a deep breat to calm his emotions.

Rose had allowed shifts and winds to blow in her face allowing strands of her black damp hair to fly in her face. It was more past dusk and with a touch of water from the clouds every so often. Rose starred at the stoned ground that set across from her as she slowly walked to head for the Tavern.

She walked in the place with her head slightly down, her eyes were misveieled by her shadows. Rose brought her eyes to glance about at the solemn place......and found an empty seat at the end of a room. She started to walk over while listening to her footsteps.

Rose sat down on the wooden chair with her leg tucked in under the table while the other one was slightly set out. Her eyes were closed not seeming to listen to the voices and laughter of the other life. She bruoght out a slight sigh and held her arms.

Rose slowly reopened her eyes half-closed and looked at the wall that starred back at her. She blinked and closed her eyes again seeming to bring back her recent memories...and bit her lip. She paused and looked down to the floor seeming lost in thouhgt.

Lamya - November 21, 2004 04:28 PM (GMT)
A memory tugged at the back of her mind. But she dismissed it and plastered a fake smile upon her shadowed face. "If you have a job, then I have the service." Her eyes followed a strange woman as she walked, head bent towards the ground, to a table in the back. She seemed utterly lost in contemplation. Lamya turned her eyes back to the man. "So what is your name and what job do you have for me?" Her eyes darted one last time to the woman at the table not so far from her own.

Shynthriir - November 21, 2004 04:58 PM (GMT)
A name! Oh, how was he going to get out of this on. The butterflies that were already in his stomach seemed to turn into rabid dragonflies, not the best feeling in teh world. His mind was racing, trying to think of another name that he could use. Garth? Jelapin? No, he thought to himself. He was an honest man and would give Lamya his true name and face whatever memories that it brought back to her. My name, he said and then sighed, My name is Shynthriir.

The torment of that question and the slight expectation of what would come afterwards made him completely forget about the second, probebly more important question, who did he need to get rid of. His emotions took hold more control over him than his mind, and he simply couldn't think straight.

Lamya - November 22, 2004 11:04 PM (GMT)
Bells seemed to ring in her head as the named slipped from his mouth. She repeated it not once, but twice trying to place it. Had it not been but a while ago that she had fallen upon the man whom claimed to be Shynthriir? But alas, she did not wish to ruin the moment, nor did she want to spoil her first chance at a job. Questions swarmed through her mind but only one answer would she find suitable. She would simply pretend she could not remember the name, the face, nor the feelings she had received from the memory. “It is an odd name, I must admit. But who am I to judge when my own is quite unique. I would care to know what business you hold with me. As the saying goes, “time is money”; let us not waste it with useless chatter.”

A smile played upon her darkened face. To allow her emotions to create an obstacle would be highly unlike her character. She had met the man before she regained her memories. It was a time of havoc, forcing oneself to remember things long buried. She never knew what had happened to the man that fateful night when they parted ways. Apparently, he had done well for himself. She looked upon her own image and wondered if he remembered her. From his pause, his loss of words, and his blank stare, she presumed he did. If they allowed the past to create a hindrance, they would never be able to work together. So she simply smiled the best she could, and nodded her head from him to continue.

Shynthriir - November 22, 2004 11:25 PM (GMT)
Did she not remember? Did she forget the man that had taken care of here when she was near death? Surely she would be dead now if it were not for him taking her in under his care, and still, she did not remember? He was taken back. His eyes went wide slightly and he realized that he was greatly disappointed. Not because she didn't remeber what he did, but because she forgot who he was. Before he knew what he was doing, the words were already coming from his mouth, Do you not remember? Do you not recognise me? Lamya..."

Lamya - November 23, 2004 04:06 PM (GMT)
She sighed. A part of her figured it to be inevitable that they would have to face the emotions once felt between them. She had only wanted to go on with business and not get caught up on the past. “Of course I remember you. I had thought we could continue with you business proposition before we spoke of lost times. Now I question why you have come to me. Did you honestly have a job in the first place? Or did you simply use that to approach me? Could you not simply walk up to me and begin a conversation without feeling you had to lie?” She was angered by his sudden need to be remembered.

Shynthriir - November 24, 2004 12:10 AM (GMT)
He was relieved from the reply. He had gotten what he wanted from her, he wanted to see if she remembered. She did. I am sorry, I just felt so empty thinking you didn't remember me. He looked to the table in shame, hiding his face from her.

He kept his face to the table and continued, It is not a lie though, I do have a job, one that I wanted sone before I saw you once again. There is a man, Jimlander; he is an evil man, killing off the food of the people in the lands slightly outside this town. I have tried to track him, but I am afraid that it is not my art. He looked up once again. The talk is for later, but the people there need us.

He did not say 'us' for no reason, he hoped to help Lamya. He was no hunter, but a skilled warrior. He could kill the man in combat, but to get that combat, he needed a hunter. Lamya was a hunter.

Lamya - November 24, 2004 01:41 AM (GMT)
Shynthriir appeared to be sincere in his apology to her. She let her anger go and concentrated on the next few words he said. “I am glad to here you have a job for me. Although I can not feel remorse for these people you speak of, I will undoubtedly take this offer. You may follow along, but do not get in my way and do not speak of the past for I will be completely engrossed in the assignment.” He had come to the right person. Her feelings for these people could not make her mess up for she had no real feelings for any other than herself. Her mind tried to contradict her and she stared across the table at Shynthriir. Maybe one day she would love, but for now, she would stay the evil elf she was.

Shynthriir - November 24, 2004 06:45 AM (GMT)
Shynthriir stood up and faced Lamya once he had gotten completely up. He hated to leave her, but he needed to grab something to eat himself, for he had not eaten for some time now. Very well. Please, meet me outside the city by the northern gates an hour the moon reaches it's peak in the sky. Then, I will take you to the small village where this has been happening. He didn't wait for a reaply, simply left. He knew that she would be there, she was too dedicated to what she set her heart to, he felt that for now, she had her heart set on her job.

Lamya - November 24, 2004 07:03 AM (GMT)
Lamya watched him leave. She sat for a moment pondering over the past few minutes events. A part of her was happy to see him again and that frightened her. Never had she had such feelings for another. And she most certainly did not want to start now. She gathered her things, threw some gold coins onto the table and left the tavern. She needed to collect some supplies and she would be ready to start her first job as bounty hunter.
