Selena watched as a young couple sat down on a stone bench underneath the tree she was sitting in. the boy even made sure the girl he was with wouldn't have to ruin her dress by sititng down on the damp stone. He casually took a fine piece of what looked like a linnen cloth and spread it over the bench for his love to sit on. The girl of course rewarded him richly with a romantic, little kiss and chuckled as she sat down beside the boy. Selena was still watching. In awe and confusion. She grinned evilly, shaking her head.

Those fools..., she thought. So young and naiv...knowing nothing of the world and it's problems. They only have eyes for each other. Almost sweet, really. She bit her lip, exposing her fangs to the outside world. Though no one could even see her from all the way down there. She had hidden behind the soft, wet leaves that surrounded her like a dark veil.
Or should I give them a little wake up call? She thought to herself. Hehehehehe. I really shouldn't, but I am really going to. Anyway, I won't hurt them....much... I just want to play. Again that evil grin decorated her face. Her vivid green eyes shone earily from out the shadows.

She moved from where she sat to a branch more on her right. Some raindrops that had still been clinging to the leaves, let go and fell onto the cold stone bench. But the couple didn't even notice, they were way to busy acting googly-eyed and stupid. (at least, that's what Selena would have said) Selena jumped down now, landing on a bench not much more then half way up the tree. She made sure she made enough noise for the two little lovebirds to hear her. But sitll, they seemed not to care for anything other then their utter devotion for one and other. Until...suddenly a little, lost raindrop shot down and found its way into the dress of the girl, entering at the back, sliding across her bare back. She shivered and shot back because of the cold.

Selena chuckled wickedly as she saw that. The girl rubbed her neck, then turned to her boyfriend again. Now, as fast as she could, Selena jumped onto a branch opposite her. And again, there was a small shower of raindrops, a few hitting the free hand of the boy which was positioned on the back of he bench. He looked around as he noticed that, his eyes squinted, looking hard for what could have caused so much of an amount of raindrops to fall down. He didn't dare admit this to the girl, but he was rather scared. Of course he wouldn't let her see that and acted all cool, smiling, rolling his eyes, saying; ''Must have been a bird...,'' The girl giggled again. Selena now was the one rolling her eyes and presented a quite fair impression of the girl. Her voice echoed through the dark and reached the boy's ear. Though the girl was to busy stroking the boy's hand.

The girl kissed the boy on the mouth gently. His eyes opened in a flash as he heared some rushling in the leaves above him. But, still, he tried to remain calm. Probably just a big bird then..., he told himself. Selena bit her lip, grinning wikcedly, as she watched the two getting uneasy, especially the boy. She jumped onto one last branch, releasing yet another small shower of raindrops underneath the tree. They must have noticed that. No doubt. They knew now that they were not alone. Selena was now not more than a few inches away from them, her prey. They were afraid she could sense it. For they were no longer breathing.
Probably making sure they can't hear something suspicious in this unending silence., she said to herself. Well, I am just going to have to burst their bubble.

''Hey lovers...,'' she whispered quietly and slowly.
The couple shot up, their breathing irregular. The girl swallowed.
''What...who...''
''Who I am?'' Selena asked, nearly sounding polite, yet still not feeling like revealing her identity. ''The tree,'' she choose to reply.
''Tries can't talk,'' the boy reacted.
Selena's laughter floated around them on the midnight wind. ''Well...here they can...''
The boy made a brief peeping sound. ''Where are we then?'' he wanted to know. Though he knew this was a silly question to ask. He'd never get the answer he wanted.
''On the edge of the shadows that will lead you into eternal Darkness...'' Selena hissed from behind the leaves of some bushes near the tree.
The boy and girl had heard her crawling around and were now in a complete state of axiety, looking around like mad, not focusing on one thing more than a split second straight.
''Ah...I see,'' said the boy. ''Well, we don't want to be here then, do we? No...so..we'l just go now. We, ehm, have taken up enough of your time already.''
But the girl seemed to have a mind of her own, even seemed intriuged by this mysterious creature. ''What are you then? A...human? Or a monster?''
The boy gave her an obvious look and groaned slightly.
''I am what I am...Lost, just lost, in no man's land. I am what I am, but no one, no one understands.'' her voice nearly seemed to sing. To the great dissatisfaction of the boy, that now seemed to get really upset.
Selena crawled quietly in their direction. The couple looked around to see what was coming towards them.
Then Selena's voice coninued. ''I am what I am...'' She repeated that a couple of times, just creeping and crawling around, trying to scare them. And judging by the wiped out looks on the two youngsters faces, she was succeeding.
''I am..''
''What?'' the boy bravely dared to ask. He was not afraid. He couldn't be while his love was near. He stood up, his hands on his hips, looking all touch and masculine. ''What are you then, huh?''
Then Selena jumped out of the bushes, right in front of the boy, her hair partly still covering her face screaming; ''DEAD!''
The boy looked as frightened as he had never did his entire life. He ran off as quickly as he could, screaming like a girl, completely forgetting the girl. On his way back he continued screaming. As Selena turned to the girl, wickedly smiling and frowning most evilly, she followed her lover's example and made her way out of there as fast as she possibly could.
Selena's dry remark as they were hurrying away was simply;''Hey, you forgot your blanky...'' She waved the piece of cloth around. As they both disappeared out of her sight, she put up a pout.
''Well, that's not fair. I just wanted to play...''
Ha! Well, see if I care. I'll just have to look for someone else to play with then. The lights in her eyes shone brightly as she thought of that. [I][That is a terrific idea. I just hope they won't object to one of my little mind games as much./I]
She took a few steps back and sat down on the bench behind her. Waiting. For her next victim.
