Title: Gozan challenges the gryffon.
Description: Will this work?
Gozan - October 30, 2004 07:04 PM (GMT)
[Note: Requires Archer, and only by invitation from another rpg can you come here...]
Gozan enters the plains, waiting for the archer to turn up.
"Ok. Our goal is to find a gryffon of immense power. We will need an archer to manage that task, but it will be relatively easy to beat it, I bet."
The party begins to walk down a worn-down path.
Nightgazer - November 2, 2004 11:42 PM (GMT)
Meera walked out onto the plains, eyes narrowed as if searching for something. She scanned the area looking for the man she was supposed to meet here. She saw him and headed over. She listened quietly as he spoke and remebered every word as he spoke it. She followed silently as they walked down the path keeping her sharp eyes open for any sign of the large griffon that he spoke of. It seemed as if this griffon would be normal, but Meera knew of the treasure that it was guarding and that whoever put it there to guard it must have made it something hard to get past or else it wasn't worth the effort. She followed closely to Gozan, taking great care not to get lost in the immense, bare, and unpopulated plains.
Gozan - November 2, 2004 11:54 PM (GMT)
Gozan acknowledges that tha archer is here, and nods.
"I hope we don't need to wait. See those hills over there? They have the roosts I have known about. These adventures are IMPORTANT... as I will explain when we finally get all the artifacts."
Gozan looks around, and spots a horse... "What luck... a horse..." using his animal skills he decided to tame the horse as he waited for others...
After a few minutes, he manages to tame the horse, and gives it a lump of sugar to make the horse trust him.
"Gotta love horses. Shall I catch you one? It's easy for me to do so."
"hm, you need a pair of boots, I suspect. Or do you?"
Shien - November 3, 2004 02:58 PM (GMT)
Raven flew over the Plains, searching for the man who had started the quest. The sun was bright, and the wind was warm, so flying to find the man was a joy. It found an updraft, and allowed itself to be propelled upwards, locking its wings and spiraling in wide lazy circles.
After a few minutes, Raven's sharp eyes spotted the man. He was accompanied by a young woman. That has to be the archer, thought Shien. She bade Raven circle lower, and it landed a few feet from the group. Raven's form shimmered slightly, and Shien stood before them.
Good day, sir and ma'am. Are we ready for a quest?
Gozan - November 3, 2004 07:01 PM (GMT)
Gozan responds... "Yes. We are ready, but I will give the others a little time... we could use a group of people to take down a monster of this kind of stature..." he winks, and notices how vast the grasslands really are. waiting for only a time, he knew that this would be quite some adventure...
"Expect a few monsters. There is invariably always a few monsters when doing an adventure like this one..."
Nightgazer - November 3, 2004 08:35 PM (GMT)
Meera says "you are correct about the boots but I do not need a horse as I already have one." She put two fingers to her mouth and let out a shrill whistle for Enzo. The flaming horse galloped along the plains swiftly until reaching Meera. She smiled and patted him on the back smiling at Gozan as well. As she saw the raven land, she was a little bit puzzled but when she saw the woman that was at the bar transform in front of her eyes from the raven, she knew that this woman was a shape-shifter. She let out a nod to acknowledge the woman's presense and waited eagerly for the others to arrive.
Gozan - November 3, 2004 08:45 PM (GMT)
"hay, no problem." Gozan said as he decided to mount his horse...
"I may not be a rider, but I can do mounted combat... darn good at that..."
Gozan nodded as he put his saddle, aquired in the town, on his horse...
Then, a few wolves appeared on the scene... and tried to attack the party...
Gozan quickly dispatched 2 of the 10 wolves in one attack... but something told him that these wolves were demonically posessed... [animal taming]
Nightgazer - November 3, 2004 10:11 PM (GMT)
Meera smiled and climbed aboard Enzo as well. She would not give him his wings just yet because they weren't needed and it was very tiring to her as well. She saw the wolves and immedietly took out her oath bow and nocked an ice arrow to its string. She whispered the words "I swear to kill these evil beasts" By swearing that oath, her arrows became even more true on top of the fact that she had already casted "true flight arrow". The first shot hit the wolf in the front sending icy pains througout his body but killing him instantly. She sent another one but she aimed for under the shoulder because she wanted to see how the wolves would react to pain. She wanted to know why these wolves were different then the normal wolves that she saw in the woods.
Gozan - November 3, 2004 10:22 PM (GMT)
The answer came up quicker than she expected.... suddenly, one of the wolves did a howl... and shot a fireball at her... another 3 turned a hint of glowing red... and tried to attack her...
Gozan quickly reacted to the wolves... and quickly tried to cut more of them.. barely even killing one of them...
"Hell hounds!" Gozan said... "Ice may work when they are in normal mode, but I would go light magics ANY day..."
Shien - November 4, 2004 12:54 AM (GMT)
Shien saw the wolves approaching, quickly shifted into Raven form and flew into the air. She could do nothing to help her companions in her human form, as her dagger would do nothing against the savageness of the wolves. She did have one trick up her sleeve, and she hoped it would work. She had never tried invoking the spell before, and she wasn't sure it would work on these wolves.
FEAR MEshe cried, deep in the depths of Raven's mind. She focused her spell on the wolves, and sent it spiraling down to them.
It did work. They were her enemies, and so the spell she sent made them paralyzed with fear. That should help my companions a little bit she thought smugly.
Radeus - November 4, 2004 01:11 AM (GMT)
Panting and wheezing, Radeus ran towards the group. Unfortunantly he was not going to make it in time. Why am I running anyway? I can teleport, this is stupid. I'm gone. Radeus said a quick word and disappeared, reappearing in the midst of the wolves.
Luck is on my side it seems. God, I gotta learn how to aim this spell. It's gonna kill me someday. I might as well test out my new blade while I'm here. Radeus unsheathed his poison blade and swung it at a wolf that stood paralyzed. He barely nicked the beast, but the blade's magic instantly went to work. The creature was weakned by the innate poison, it's knees began to wobble and it looked as if a light wind would knock it over, it would waste away and die. So this isn't a cheap replica. It IS a magic blade.
Gozan - November 4, 2004 03:19 AM (GMT)
Gozan, using his new magics, decides to test them. First, he uses a freezing grasp on one of the wolves... then calls up some rain hoping to help refresh some of the party memebrs...
"If anything, water has it's uses. hope this helps."
Radeus - November 4, 2004 06:29 PM (GMT)
(Thanks for the rain Gozan, I actually have something to write about now.)
Radeus sighed and looked upwards into the sky at the falling rain. The wolves were apparantly busy cowering in fear, they could wait to die. For now, the rain was too important for Radeus to do anything other than savor the unfamiliar feeling of the water from heaven. The desert is such a harsh place, if only it too had the miracle of rain. Tethyr, why must the desert sands engulf my homeland? Why should the rain not fall there too? Caught up in thinking of home and the wonders of this fabled feat of nature, Radeus let his sword arm droop as he continued to stare skyward.
EDIT: APPARENTLY GOZAN THOUGHT I WAS SPEAKING. MY BAD. IT HAS NOW BEEN CHANGED. ;)
Gozan - November 4, 2004 07:16 PM (GMT)
Gozan overheard radeus... "Rain? No problem. We could go to the desert next... who knows... maybe it would uncover a treasure... or perhaps not." Gozan decided to attack a group of wolves, killing 2 more... then he said... "Sometimes I wish I had a storm magic. I could use one... speaking about rain, I can cast it... I just decided to use it now, infact..."
Nightgazer - November 4, 2004 08:06 PM (GMT)
Meera was not at all distracted by Radeus' thoughts spoken outloud but she did notice the fact that he wasn't paying attention to the wolves around him. She quickly exclaimed "Radeus, watch out!" as she watched the wolves try to close in on him. The crazed hellhounds were momentarily delayed as Meera cast "calm animal" on them but it didn't last long on these creatures. Meera's only hope was to summon more people to fight for them. She summoned one water elemental then called the two other companions of hers that weren't with them. Marqee flew in instantly and needed no prodding to dive in and start attacking.
Little Akira took more time but made it and did the best work that she could do. For now, all Meera could do was Fire more arrows and cast a quick "aid" spell to help her teamates.
Radeus - November 5, 2004 07:00 PM (GMT)
(@#$% ! I thought I put that bit in italics! Sorry guys, that was a thought. Not spoken. Not overheard. I'm just standing in the rain, nothing more.)
Radeus looked startled at the sudden yelling and action. He had been admiring the rain, yet he hadn't known that the wolves were back trying to kill him. Radeus screamed in rage at the vile beasts that had bothered him. "DIE EVIL BEASTS! YOU SHOULD HAVE LET ME BE!!!" Radeus leaped at the nearest wolf and began slicing it into little pieces in his rage.
Blood splattered and looking like hellspawn, Radeus arose from the corpse of the wolf and strode towards another. Blood and gore dripped from his blade and fire burned behind his eyes. They shoult have let me be!
Nightgazer - November 5, 2004 08:10 PM (GMT)
((since Gozan is banned, maybe we should just stop this rp))
Tulsatha - November 10, 2004 11:06 PM (GMT)
(no need... it's still a good rp... and I understand it well enough...)
At that moment, the wolves started attacking gozan, and defending against others in that matter... Incessantly they attacked Gozan, trying to kill him... but he managed to barely refute every attack...
Then, in one quick motion, several of the wolves converged, called the demonic essences within them to merge... and instantly killed Gozan...
At that moment, Tulsatha, who was hunting, noticed the situation and tried to help... but was just a little to late to save gozan...
Tulsatha cried... "Why did he have to die?... why... Hi. I am Tulsatha. But can I ask what you are doing in a place like this? It looks like you are on an adventure, but what kind of adventure?"
Suddenly, Tulsatha noticed a piece of paper in Gozan's pocket... and snatched it... reading about this adventure... and discovering what this adventure is about...
"We need to decide who gets the inventory that he had... and sorry about taking that letter... "
Radeus - November 11, 2004 07:00 PM (GMT)
(Two to one you're Gozan himself. Don't try denying, I won't belive anyway.)
Radeus slashed at another wolf (how many are left?) and danced back from it's bite. "Talk later, kill now!" Radeus was in such a frenzy that he could barely tell what was going on. In his frenzy, he mistook the newly arrived Tulsatha for an enemy. Radeus swung the sword at his head in a vain attempt to kill the enemy.
Tulsatha - November 11, 2004 07:28 PM (GMT)
Tulsatha decided to attack the wolves, and knew this would be quite a match... in a lightning quick stroke he killed 2 in one hit... and casted shield on himself...
at that time, a wolf shot a flame at Tulsatha but missed...
(4 wolves left, right?)
The wolves fled at that time, knowing they would loose...
Radeus - November 12, 2004 07:00 PM (GMT)
Radeus watched as the wolves fled. His frenzy had fled along with the little demons. Now all that was left was a longing for the battle that had just concluded."What now, oh replacement leader?" Radues wanted the thrill of battle, hopefully this man would provide it. "Who are you anyway? I am Radeus, the war monger."
Tulsatha - November 12, 2004 07:21 PM (GMT)
Tulsatha responds"Not a leader yet... but I might as well tell you who I am.
Tulsatha... a hunter, fast and adgile... but only seeking power like you. I came seeking adventure, but that's all..."
Tulsatha gives the paper to Radeus... and looks to the hills... "By the look of those hills... I would guess that the gryffon is found there... but it appears that we may need hiking equipment..."
Tulsatha takes gozan's inventory...
Nightgazer - November 12, 2004 08:53 PM (GMT)
Meera watches silently as Gozan dies but sheds no tears because she really didn't know him all that well. When the wolves flee, she finally talks and says "If we are to get on with this adventure then we must be going now. Night is not to far from now and we still have a long way to go.
Radeus - November 12, 2004 11:49 PM (GMT)
Radeus walked over and stabed the body of Gozan with his poison sword. "Everyone desrves a proper burial. We do not have the time, but at least he will kill anything that tries to eat him. I will come back later and conduct the funeral rights." Pulling out the gore covered blade, Radeus wiped it on the grass and slid it into it's sheath.
"She is right. We must go. Lead on." Radeus handed back the sheet of paper, being unable to read it. He looked once more at the body of Gozan, the mix of blood and poison leaking out of a slender chest wound. Kill a few more for me. Even in death shalt thou kill.
Tulsatha - November 13, 2004 08:36 PM (GMT)
Tulsatha acknowledges... and says... "Now where? By the usual way... I think the hills over there would have a roost..."
Tulsatha starts heading towards the hill... hoping they follow... A while later tulsatha reaches the hills and find a way down to a massive roost... but the drop/climb (you choose) was too steep... so, tulsatha used a rope... and went first... then invited the others to climb it...
Radeus - November 15, 2004 07:01 PM (GMT)
Radeus sighed as he followed Tulsatha down the rope. The night was falling and Radeus was bored. This griffon would show itself soon if it wanted to die. Otherwise Radeus was willing to leave it alone. "Do you see it yet? Can I kill it now?"
Nightgazer - November 15, 2004 08:38 PM (GMT)
Meera sighed and hopped off Enzo, momentarily giving him wings so he could fly down and join them. She then slid down the rope and motioned for Enzo to fly overhead for a while as not to crowd up the trail. She said "The griffon is near, I can smell it" and it was true for she could smell the deep musky odor of the griffon that was to be coming in their near future. She could only hope that Enzo could fight for himself if the griffon went for him.
Radeus - November 16, 2004 07:03 PM (GMT)
Radeus looked at the archer and wondered to himself, Smell it, eh? I don't smell anything... Radeus walked over a few steps to a rise in the land and looked down into a deeper depression. Without warning, the great beast exploded out at him in an insane burst of speed.
Nightgazer - November 16, 2004 08:33 PM (GMT)
Meera thought quickly, -what did I say?- then took out her oathbow and whispered the words to make her arrows fly truer and swiftly. She shot one arrow and watched as it found its target. To help the others, she used her spell aid again and hoped that it would help them some more, then she continued to fire some arrows over and over again.
Radeus - November 17, 2004 07:01 PM (GMT)
The beast turned and dived through the air. It was an erratic creature, never staying on one target for long. Dodgeing a massive talon that he had barely seen in the deepening night, Radeus ran towards a pile of brush that he assumed to be the things nest, "Want me to light the thing?" He yelled as the thing dived again. "I can supply some light so we can see a bit better."
Nightgazer - November 17, 2004 08:17 PM (GMT)
Meera said "of course, that would always help" since she had started squinting harder in order to make sure that she was firing her arrows on track and to the right place. She didn't want to waste arrows that she would probably need later on. She hoped that if she wasn't atleast hurting the creature, that she could distract it so Radeus could get into the nest and get the item.
Shien - November 17, 2004 09:56 PM (GMT)
Shien watched from the sky as Gozan was overcome by the demonic wolves. Eh, I didn't like him all that much anyway. But I do feel pity for him dying such a painful death. She circled around the group, watching as a newcomer approached the group, and joined them in destroying the demonic wolves. Shien was only mildly interested, for as long as she flew beyond the reach of the wolves, she was safe.
The companions were victorious in destroying the wolves. As they began to travel towards their destination, Shien decided that it might be worth her while just to take a look at what was going on.
At the very least, I can pick up what ever is left behind after they are dead.Shien flew after them on silent wings.
She watched as the companions traveled to the gryphon's nest, and watched as it exploded from out of nowhere. She watched as the archer shot arrow after arrow at it, and saw the war monger race for the nest itself.
I wonder what he is up to?She flew down to the nest, narrowly avoiding the gryphon as it homed in on the new prey. She landed in the nest with a thump, and fell beak over tail feathers.
No the best landing, she said, preening her ruffled feathers. She spread her wings, and shimmered into human form.
She looked at the warrior. It looks as though you might need some help. May I be of assistance?
Radeus - November 18, 2004 01:30 AM (GMT)
Radeus fell backwards at the startling appearance of a large bird. His first thought was that it was another griffin. When it changed though, Radeus knew he was safe for a moment. "About time you showed up. The best thing you can do is kill that griffen. If not, at least move out of the nest so I can light it."
Shien - November 29, 2004 05:26 PM (GMT)
Shien smiled. I may not be able to kill that gryphon, as I dislike killing that which is my distant kin, yet I will make it so that you may do the deed.
She closed her eyes, and spread her arms out far to either side, looking for all the world like a human bird, her long sleeves fanning winglike behind her. Her hair streamed back from her face, as a strong wind began to blow. She drew on this force, and slowly brought her hands together. The space between them seemed to glow, and she blew a cool breath of air into the mass that was forming. The glow coalesced into a shimmering ball of ice, as Shien completed her spell.
She lifted the ball high above her head, and threw it at the gryphon's head. It struck, and fragmented into a million tiny pieces. The gryphon screamed, for the ice ball had punctured one of its eyes, and now it was blind. It spread its wings, and tried to fly, but without its sight, it could not fly.
Tulsatha - December 23, 2004 08:40 PM (GMT)
Tulsatha examined the gryffon carefully... "The best way we can take down this gryffon would be to mount it, then kill it. That's why I needed an archer to help us mount this creature. Don't worry, this is the only gryffon we will ever face."
Tulsatha prepared the rope for someone to mount the gryffon, hoping to mount it quickly. then said... "Someone must climb this rope then defeat this gryffon. Don't worry, I already asked the officials permission. They warned me that a law was going to come into being when they located the gryffons here. This is the first and last gryffon that will ever be killed, thus."
