Title: Encounter
Description: (('meeting' just seemed so boring))
Xena - October 28, 2004 05:50 PM (GMT)
Xena paced around a crubling wall. It was the only section of the wall that was still upright. The place unnerved her. She didn't like being here, only thoughts of herself brought her hanging around the place. Maybe the man would be late. She didn't even know his name, only the fact that she would meet him here. Now she could learn magic at it's fullest. She would make sure she would become a great witch, whatever it took. A determined expression crossed her face.
((OOC: oh yeh, forgot to put the {p} thingy...this is private, for Rith and me.))
Rith - October 29, 2004 03:34 AM (GMT)
(The title is more creative than "meeting". I would have made the topic myself, but I've been booged down of Late. i'm glad you made the topic. )
Rith silently teleported into the shadows of the wall that Xena pace around. "You must be Xena. I have heard good things about you. I am Peral Forbus. Tis a pleasure to finally meet you in person," Rith said as he emerged from the shadows. His his clothes seemed expesive and to say he least fancy. A top hat sat on the top of his messy black hair. His voice was quite unlike that of the child she had met eariler. He no longer looked like a human child, but a mature Gnome. "Before begin, Do you mind telling what remains of your previous powers?" Rith smiled as he walked into sunlight which slowly would fade until the sun eventually set. Rith's right hand held the the gem tip of his cane which tapped he ground as he walked.
Xena - October 30, 2004 09:40 AM (GMT)
((ooh okay well I've used meeting so many times i wanted to use something else. Oh and another thing, I was going to buy teleport or something but i haven't had any time))
Xena nearly took a step back; his sudden appearance startled her. She hadn't heard anyone coming but then again he might have used magic. "Ah yes, I am Xena." She eyed him up and down. She was actually surprised, he looked like someone she had known back at home except that he was a bit too short. "My powers..." She began slowly, keeping her eyes low. "I don't think I can do anything magical at the moment. I wasted all my powers escaping. I suppose the kid told you all about me." She didn't even know the boy's name, so at the moment she had to stick with 'kid'.
Rith - November 3, 2004 07:53 PM (GMT)
(I'd teach you teloport, but I have an ablity from a prestige class and not the spell blink, yet.)
"Yes he did. Intelligent kid, but more of him later. I suppose it is good that you don't recall anything. Cheer up dear Xena, Sometimes it is best to start wish a fresh scroll rather than one that has scribbles," Rith smiled as he stopped. He took his hand off of his cane and it stayed perfectly still. He clapped his hands and the cane floated up into the air. His top hat quickly did likewise and then both items drifted over to the wall before resting against the ground. "If he spoke correctly, you have a paticular liking towards transmutation. We can begin their if you wish or we can start with simpler spells," Rith smiled as he monitored the thoughts that formed in her mind.
Xena - November 3, 2004 08:06 PM (GMT)
Xena nodded. Normally she would have already argued that a little kid couldn't be intelligent but now she really didn't have the heart to do it; she had to concentrate. "As you wish, sir. And yes, it may be better to start all over again." She closed her eyes, trying to remember how to do something but nothing came to her. She sighed. "But I don't-." Xena silenced herself, it didn't matter; he would hopefully teach her.
Rith - November 4, 2004 05:44 PM (GMT)
Rith wondered slightly what it was that she was going to finsh her sentence with. What ever it was she had purged the thought before rith could get a grasp of it. It was a sign of disiplined mind, prehaps coming from her harsh past. "As you very well might recall, there are several types of magic. Abjuration- spells of light and protection, Conjuration- spells of summoning, Enchantments- spells that effect the mind, Illusions- spells that make things seem what they are not, Necromancy- spells of darkness and death, Evocation- spells that can physically harm your enemies, Divination- spells that allow you to gain knowledge, and Transmutaion- spells that allow you to alter youself or others," Rith explained. "Our first spell will be polymorph. Watch as I cast the spell. I will be calling on you to try from what have watched of me," Rith said before working over the spell. Shape change was different from polymorph, but came off of the same concept. The spell could easily be simplified enough to allow Xena to learn polymorph. It would likely be the easiest spell for her to learn. From what he saw from her thoughts it was this spell mainly that had saved her life on several occasions.
After casting the spell, the form of Peral slowly turned to that of a small black bunny. "Now you try. Be sure to focus on the animal in hich you wish to polymorph into," the black bunny smiled.
Xena - November 4, 2004 07:13 PM (GMT)
Xena nodded at all of it, repeating it over in her head. 'Start very small, and work your way to bigger things.' That saying helped in everything, including this. She decided to become a mouse, quite simple yet complex if you thought about it. She imagined it squeking along, with its teeth and claws and it's long tail. A small, brown mouse with brown eyes, and unusually big ears. That's what she focused on; standing very still with her eyes closed. Every inch of her was still, but nothing happened. She sighed and tried again, with the same result. Xena wasn't always patient and now she certainly wasn't patient. With her whole heart she wanted to be able to do it all, but it was like all the knowledge had been erased. "What am I doing wrong?" She asked the black rabbit.
Rith - November 6, 2004 08:12 PM (GMT)
Rith watched her and listened to her thoughts as she casted the spell. He was dissapointed to see failure of the spell but he knew of several things that could be the cause of the problem. He twicthed his nose slighty before returning to the form of Peral Forbus. "Prehaps a mouse is starting too small. This time try to polymorph into a hound. If it doesn't work this time then I think we will move to a more simplistic spell," Rith smiled. Rith went over the spell a second time and tthis time turned into a large black dog. He sat down waited to see whether she would show any improvement form this little bit of advice. Rith knew what spell he would teacher her she couldn't cast this spell on the second try.
Xena - November 6, 2004 10:03 PM (GMT)
Xena nodded and closed her eyes, picturing her aunts dog. A small black dog, which was way longer then it was taller. It had short legs and bright green eyes, she had grown up with it crawling around the place. She put every single bit of energy she had into it. She even remembered it's name: Trumpet. Xena took a few deep breaths, and tried to imagine every single detail, from it's huge paws to it's wagging tail. A few minutes passed with no result. "Curse Trumpet." She snarled into the air. But she found herself staring at the grass. Tilting her head to one side she turned around, and came face to face with her own tail. Xena yelped with surprise and happiness. Okay, she wasn't perfect, the dog was a little wierd looking but hey she had done something.
Rith - November 7, 2004 02:00 PM (GMT)
Rith was amazed to see her improvement with the spell. She didn't cast it perfectly, but it was better than just having dog ears, a doggy tail, and parts of a completely different animal. Rith tilted his head slightly as he looked down upon Xena's new form. "Trumpet!?! Who Names their dog trumpet?" Rith laughed as he returned to the form of Peral Forbus. "Good. This is excellent progress. To tell the truth, I expected results from your casting of the spell, but none this good. Now you are going to return to your own form. Concentrate on yourself. You can't make the same movent's you did in human form, but it is still about the same," Rith smiled. It would likely be easy to return to her normal form, but there was the posiblity that she would still have doggy parts on her.
Xena - November 7, 2004 05:29 PM (GMT)
"I did it!" The dog woofed, it nodded it's head, it's ears flapping crazily. It ran around in a circle then returned to it's place bowing it's head. She saw herself as right infront of her, silvery hair, green eyes, normal load of jewelry. She almost believed the image she imagined. She saw the blades of grass grow smaller as she shot up. She smiled weakly and checked her ears, not feeling any flappy ears she looked over her shoulder and shrieked. She had seen a black tail poking out from her skirt. "How do I get rid of it?" Her voice was high and panicked, she hadn't even thought of the comical side of it. She looked absolutely hilarious, turning around trying to get a better look at her tail.
((Do I need to buy the spell now?!?!?))
Rith - November 18, 2004 04:54 PM (GMT)
(Yes, Unless you want to wait until you have saved up for shape change which costs 300)
Rith smiled as she ran around in a circle and then returned to her normal form. He found it hard, but managed to resist the urge to break out into laugher at Xena's over-reaction to the situation, though he could not hold back a gentel smile. "Calm down," Rith said calmly as watched her turnng round in circles as if it would allow her to get a better look at her tail. "Getting rid of the tail will be easy. Simply turn back into a dog and change back. That should fix the problem. You seem to have quickly learned this spell. In time you will likely learn to make such changes on purpose," Rith smiled calmly. He whispered the words of the spell and his ears turned into to large floppy black bunny ears. Rith figured he might as well give a little something to laugh at as well.
Xena - November 19, 2004 07:10 PM (GMT)
Xena smiled, the shock wearing off. "Okay." She turned back into Trumpet, and just to make sure she wasn't doing anything too quickly she ran around a bit then returned, her ears flapping beside her. She wagged her tail, and then sat down. She thought of herself, taking the most recent image she remembered seeing in a pond. The dog sat there for a while, screwing up it's eyes and wrinkling it's nose. Nothing happened, 'Okay, don't panic, don't panic...HELP!' She thought to herself. 'Right, think of yourself, just like you did before but make sure you have not tail.' Her thoughts were far away from reassuring. "I can't do it." The dog yelped.
((OOC: sorry it took ages to reply i took a holiday to china. Present from my aunt))
Rith - March 13, 2005 04:05 PM (GMT)
(I thought I replied to this a while back. )
Rith watched as Xena turned back into a dog. He noticed that she seemed to have a bit of difficulty turning back into her normal form and his thoughts were confirmed by her yelping for help. Rith thought for a moment of a way to solve the problem. She still didn't have the spell down exactly so it was known that mistakes like this could happen, though it was not likely that the spell would not work at all after it had partialy worked. "All right take tne deep breaths and try again. Bear in mind that failure can lead to success with practice," Rith said calmly. He whispered the words of the spell and changed back into a rabbit. He whispered the words again and returned to Peral Forbus' form. He did this to keep the spell fresh in her mind.
Xena - March 13, 2005 05:02 PM (GMT)
((It's okay))
Xena did as she was told, she sat down and took ten deep breaths. Each one helped her to calm down. She took an extra one just for luck. Then she watched Peral Forbus turn into the rabbit and then back into his normal form. Ever single movement he made she watched carefully with her doggy eyes. She said the words, (which sounded more like a chorus of woofs) and hoped for the best. She blinked, took a couple deep breaths to stop herself from howling in dismay, and started all over again. She said each word as clearly as her dog-form allowed her to. She closed her eyes and felt the far away, yet familiar feeling of her transformation. She opened her eyes. The grass was suddenly much further away from her nose, her ears didn't reach down to her shoulders and her hands were definately not paws. She ran her fingers down her back and along her backside just to check that she didn't have a tail. Xena was content, she flashed Peral Forbus a grin and said, "Hey I did it, and without an extra tail this time!" She was happier then she had been in a long time. Perhaps even in her whole life.
EDIT:
I shall be gone for a week, see ya when I get back!!! I'll get back next saturday that's the 26th...BYE!!
Rith - April 5, 2005 07:39 PM (GMT)
(Might want to edit your profile ;) )
Rith watched as Xena tryied her best to restore herself to her normal form. He was almost surprised not to hear distressed howls after her failure, but she remained calm and tried again. In mere moments she was back in normal form. She had done much better than Rith had expected. He expected that they might be going over the spell for some time, but she was likely now at the point where a little bit of practice on her own would get her to where she wanted to be. "You've done very well. I beleive you are at the point with this spell where you can do well practing on your own and do not require the guidance of another. That brings us to an interesting question, Shall we continue on to something else or do wish perhaps to rest for a bit?" Rith replied. "I understand that magic can be draining for some, though you of course seem to have more energy now than when I first met you," Rith laughed wondering what she would want to learn should she wish to keep learning.
