Ahren stood in the middle of the desert, the air shimmering around him. His bow was held easily in his hands, ready to come up any second. He had no idea where he should go now, there was sand as far as the eye could see in all directions. The heat was oppressive and burning today. The air burned his throat and lungs each time he breathed. His wall of air did little to change the temperature, so he suffered in the heat, sweat dripping from his face and hands.
He felt eyes upon him, and had for a while now. He had been journeying through the desert, when he had first had the sense that he was being watched. The sense grew as he travelled. He finally just stopped where he was, waiting for a look at his follower. He could always fire an arrow and have the wind guide it to the unknown person, but it could just be some wary traveler that wasn't sure if Ahren was a friend or foe. So Ahren stood in the heat, waiting and watching.
(Gah! Why the desert. Rith no like the desert.)
Rith in the shadow of a large summoned demon the held a heavy box of assorted goods. Rith did not like wandering throught the desert at day. He would have prefered to move through the desert during the freezing night. He could tolerate the cold much better than the cold, but it seemed that some one was upon his trail. Rith was displeased with his smuggling job, but only because of the chance of getting caught. Then again it didn't matter if he got caught. he could handle himself. Rith fanned himself with his hand as he walked. He was rather annoyed to see his demon stop in front of it. "What is it now," Rith whispered to himself as he looked around the demon. He saw an angelic being in the distance. "No good can come of this," Rith thought to himself as he watched the half-elf with his cold purple eyes.
Ahren felt an evil presence behind him, and he turned to look that way. Standing there in the desert was a dark shape that could only be a demon. Ahren quickly drew an arrow, and set it on his bow. He saw that the demon was holding a box, and guessed that it had just stolen something. Wind, guide my arrow he thought, releasing the string. He watched the arrow soar towards the demon, certain that his arrow would fly true. About the only thing that could stop one of his arrows would be a magical shield of some kind. Very few people had access to powerful shields, and his arrows could go around some types of shields. He watched to see how his arrow would affect the demon.
Rith's cold eyes narrowed to thin slits as he saw the arrow race towards them. Rith readied his telekinetic ablities. The arrow quickly lost speed as it neared the demon. It hung in mid air a few feet in front of the demon. The arrow then fell harmlessly to the ground. "To think I haven't done anything and I've attracted celestial attention, " Rith thought to himself. The demon had dropped his crate and was about to charge Ahren, but Rith quickly stoped the abyssal beast. "Don't move you fool. I don't wish to suffer more of ths intolerable heat," Rith said coldy. Rith then began to weave another spell. A portal opened up beside him. Large black claws came out of the portal and gripped the edges. The newly summoned creature pulled himself onto the materiall plane. Drool formed along the creatures mouth as it caugth sight of the half angel in the distance.
