Title: Whisperings of Darkness
Description: Private: Zin

Rith - October 11, 2004 03:39 AM (GMT)
Rith had set up his small tent. It server as a wonderful cover-up for his operations. A sign with a large purple eye outside the tent signified that this was the place of a fortuneteller. He leaned back and was immersed in the shadows created by the dim light of the small candle that stood on the small circular table. He seemed no longer a small child, but now had the figure of a tall man. Rith stared out into the darkness of the night. He was pleased when he heard footsteps aproaching the tent. He shuffled his cards and waited for the person to come into veiw.

Zin - October 11, 2004 03:54 AM (GMT)
Zin carefully stepped into the tent, looking at her surroundings with an air of surprise, and a quiet sense of disruption, the colour in her eyes was shifting slightly as she looked around, took in the sight of the figure with the cards. She nodded carefully, smiling at him. "Hello? You are the fortune teller, correct?"

Rith - October 11, 2004 11:14 PM (GMT)
Rith's mind wandered into her thoughts. He always used the mind for his work. "Yes I can tell your past, present and future. You want your fortune read I am assured. Please seat yourself, Zin," He said as a shadow finger pointed to the empty chare by Zin. Rith was glad to find Zin was not alone in her mind. If he needed her services he could help either of them have complete control of Zin's body. He continued to shuffle the deck, waiting to see seat down.

Zin - October 12, 2004 04:55 AM (GMT)
Zin nodded, grinning slightly. "Yes, I do, that's why I would of come in here, isn't it?" She didn't bother asking how he knew her name, she assumed that the ability came with the trade.

She pulled out the chair opposite, and sat down quickly, brows furrowing as she sensed a strange presence at the edge of her mind, not the one she'd grown used to already, a different one. She shoved the revelation aside in annoyance, forcing her smile to grow, and it seemed more sincere somehow.

"So what lies ahead?"

Rith - October 13, 2004 06:35 PM (GMT)
Rith wandered amist her thoughts as he stoped shuffling and laid the cards down. He made one row of five face down cards. Rith saw a certain darkness in her eyes. He waved his hands over he casted a spell, Detect Alignment to be exact. Rith wondered what use she would be if were to be permitted into the guild. "Zin, Please choose a card," Smiled as a shadowy finger pointed down at the cards. "Do you wish to tell your past while I predict your future?" Rith said. "Sometimes it makes the prediction more accurate."

Zin - October 27, 2004 05:01 AM (GMT)
Zin froze for a moment, couldn't manage to supress a cold shudder. The fortune teller certainly spooked her...too much really, scared her even...She shifted uneasily, stared at the cards with a bit of a worried look.

"No...I don't want to...not all that much that I prefer to remember but if it helps...I suppose..." She scowled, her eyes on the cards, deciding which to choose. "Well..Let's see...I got driven out of my home by a dwarf. My cousin's mother is a dark angel, and he's after my blood...Oh, and in my last little clash with him I nearly lost my hand."

She seemed to be simply blowing off steam, didn't really care that there was anyone there who was actually listening. A flicker of red was dancing under the surface of the violet slabs of colour, fighting to get out, but being drowned by the one it sought to control.

"Ohhhh....yeeeeees...I almost forgot. I'm either be going insane, or under an attempted possession by some deranged demon that thinks I'm an easy target, despite the fact I've kept it at bay for...God, I can't even remember how long now." With that, she snapped up the center card, and held it so that the back faced her eyes, and the front was facing Rith. "Good or bad?"

Rith - November 4, 2004 01:47 PM (GMT)
"I don't see the makings of a spy in her immediate future. If she gives information this easily to a creepy stranger, I shudder to think what she would tell to one who she thinks to be her freind," Rith thought to himeslef as he listen to her speak. He smiled at the introduction of the creature inside he head. "Insane...I should not say so. In any case with the proper contacts the demon can be made slightly useful to yourself and even easier to control, but I digress. You are hear to have a forun told not for me to consel your present," Rith said before idly casting a spell. His eye turned slowly to the card she held. He was slightly surprised to see the card that she held. It held his symbol, a sign that she was one worthy of being in his guild. Rith stared at it in silence. He had seen little in her to be of much use, but he had yet to test all of her ablities... The two cards and the end of the row floated up and turned so he could see. Both cards held the same picuture, A rod. The cards floated down slowly after carefully eying both of the cards. "Are you are adept in the ways of magic?" Rith asked curiously after a prolonged silence. Prehaps her magic ablities would be what came to immpress Rith. He could mold her into a useful being. He wondered if there was something else more to zin that he had yet to see. In any case the girl may have lacked certain skills he had a liking for, but she had potential. "Of course you are," Rith said recalling draco's memories and answering his own question. Ace had always said Zin had the potenital to be one of the greatest mages. " But do you mind showing how much?"

Zin - November 5, 2004 01:30 AM (GMT)
Zin was more than a bit confused by now, and had sat in silence, waiting for Rith to speak, and frankly, his reaction was...odd. She'd kept a look of annoyance off her face as she waited patiently, but now...she couldn't help but be a bit annoyed, she opened her mouth to say something rather cruel half-standing, then stopped. "So it is a demon!" Her eyes glittered, and she dropped into her chair again, eyes closing partially as if listening to something else.

She noticed the cards, and paused, wondering if she should of looked at the one she'd pulled. The first one had a strange effect, that was for sure. She watched Rith's face while waiting for a reply, ears twitching slightly as she did so. She stopped as the demon gave a small whisper, the first it had actually done so in over a week. 'He's trying to trick you...' A look of annoyance flickered across her face, and she ignored it, listening to Rith instead. She didn't care if the demon was right, or if it was wrong, she wanted to know what would happen next, not skitter away like she normally might choose to do.

She'd started to answer but was cut off, and blinked as Rith spoke again. "What kind of example do you need?" She grinned. "Power, or just the ability to cast a spell at all?"

Rith - December 20, 2004 10:49 PM (GMT)
"Ah yes I wish to see you show off your power. The show you have a great quantity. I merely wish too see how graet that 'great' is if you don't mind. Please step outside and meet my 'freind' who will aid in thisexamination, but ofcourse. If you feel you either above or below the test of a fortuneteller, please say so and shall not bug you on the subject." The candle seem to brighten enough for a malicous grin stretched across the pale face of the illusion. "After the test I shall gave you your fortune free of charge. I have no doubts that you will pass, though I warn you not to let down your guard," The illusion smiled. Rith had his doubts on Zin. Her test would be a simple one. She would fight off an ebon golem. The golem would crumble easily before holy magic, but wondered if Zin could figure this out or even make use of the information. Not many mages of intrest of recruitment had damaging holy magic, and not much existed in the first place. Magic would work well, but it would last much longer than a stone golem.

Zin - December 21, 2004 11:08 AM (GMT)
Zin paused, then shrugged and stood, stretching her limbs slightly as she did so. "Very well..." She was grinning as she stepped outside, then the grin faded as she spotted the golem. "...I'm supposed to destroy that, then? Couldn't be easier..." She paused, laughing to herself-more out of simple distraction that any humor, and concentrated.

A cone of raw magic began to form, and she grinned hugely, as she allowed it to go towards the golem. It was Arcane Fire, an attack only known by the archmages, and hard to use, unless you were of a high level. You still had a hard time, but you had less than if you were a beginner.

She didn't stop with that, however. She wanted the golem gone, so this 'test' would be over.

A pair of fireballs appeared, went towards the golem, without the girl saying a word of command or moving at all. She didn't need to, she'd trained enough, not in the academy, of course, but on her own, so that she didn't need to do that.

She paused, then, for good measure, sent off a few magic missles-three, in quick succession, as with the fireballs-and stepped back, grinning faintly as she waited to find out if the golem was destroyed or not.

Rith - December 22, 2004 09:58 PM (GMT)
(Next time add haste and slow time to the routine. Arcane fire itself would be enough to fill a post. The golem might have been able to do something even though you do have quicken spell)

The golem toppled ovewr after being hit by the arcane fire. A large thud could be heard as it chrashed against the ground. The Goelm was indeed not destroyed but would be before it could even get up let alone mak an attack. "The cards do not lie. If anything they may underexagerate. You may now come bakc inside so I may tell you your fortune," Rith smiled. She had tooken care of the golem swiftly without the use of holy magic. The Arcane fire worked better than Rith thought it would. She seemed to be one who might require a good bit of tweaking in other areas, but she would be useful nonetheless.

Zin - December 23, 2004 09:33 AM (GMT)
((...right. Suppose I should think about that then..))

The girl grinned, and spun on her heel, quickly returning, dropping back into the chair, head tilting slightly off to one side. "So the cards speak of my magic?" One eyebrow raised critically, a delighted grin visible on her features.

"What is my fortune?" The demon was kicking the inside of her mind now, but she paid it no heed. The worst that could happen was that her own death was foretold, and you had to die sometime.

Rith - December 24, 2004 03:48 PM (GMT)
"The cards speak of everything," Rith smiled mischeviously. The form of a crystal ball appeared over the candle on the table. the pearl white cyrtal ball soon became black and foggy as dark clouds of smoke consumed it's inside. "The path to you seek does not split as it usually does for others. It lies within your grasp yet there is only one way to acheive it. The path of darkness shall guide you well. Even the demon shall become less of a nuicense if you wish, but should you choose to leave the path after walking on it, you will find life difficult and maybe shortened. If you wish to grab the power you seek, Merely place your head inside the cyrstall ball. Don't be afraid. No harm shall come to you," Rith smiled as his eyes dwelled upon the illusionary crystall ball.

Zin - December 25, 2004 05:59 AM (GMT)
Zin didn't notice the smile on Rith's face, she was watching the crystal's colour shift into the shadowy fog, she only seemed to hear him again when he said to put her head inside the crystal, and when she heard that, her head snapped up, and she looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "Inside the...."

She sighed, then laughed. "Well...Not like there's really anything to lose, other than life, and that doesn't matter all that much, because I won't know it's gone..." She pinched the bridge of her nose for a moment, then ran her hand through her hair. '...not like I'll die...You don't know that! Irrelvant...'

She sighed, and plunged her head into the crystal ball.

Rith - January 5, 2005 04:30 AM (GMT)
Rith was not surprised with her reaction to his obscure words. He did tell her to put her head through an object which she may have thought of as solid. It was in the same place the warm candle hand been. Omenous clouds did twirl about the ball, but the promise of power was enough to push her foward. As rith had said no harm came to her. Her head went cleanly through the illusion of the crystal ball and the candles was not felt nor was it's light smoke smelt. Whispering were heard by Zin while her head was within the ball. Whispering that were real to non other than herself and the demon which plagued her mind. the whisperings were directions. Directions to the syndicate of whispers. Whisperings that she was told not to repeat for whatever the reason. When Zin would take her head out of the ball, she would find herself alone. Even the golem that was outside was gone. Rith had left her only for her to return to him.
