Title: Against all odds [p]
Kore Takamura - October 1, 2004 03:43 PM (GMT)
*Kore stood in the center of the arena, in front of a wooden dummy. Many doubted him and even more treated him as a lesser man. He was going to show them, prove them all that he was the same person he was before, if not more. He slowly drew Kilgorin, his eyes still looking at the floor.
With a loud cry, he brought his blade against the abdomen of the dummy. He drew back the sword and swung again, striking the arm portion. The force of his blow dismantled the arm from the shoulder up. He smirked as he continued to swing--Sorry there buddy, I know how you feel--
Swing after swing, more of the dummy fell apart in chips. hours later all that was left was a thin piece of wood and the dummy's head. Kore stood there, his eyes bloodshot with energy, then spun in a 360 degrees, his sword held out. In one swing, the dummy's head flew off the thin piece of wood that was left and rolled near the entrance to the arena. Kore turned and looked at the entrance and saw someone he knew. He was breathing heavily as he spoke to him* I didn't think I'd see you here.

"For all intents and purposes, you didn't," Sargoth replied tersely as he slowly stepped forward toward Kore. Looking around, he had noticed a small crowd start to dissipate, probably losing interest when the weapons master decided to cease his assault on the defenseless dummy. He certainly had made a mess, there was most likely something wrong. "I have been watching you at least long enough to kill you, which makes me wonder what could have caused you to slip. If I'm not mistaken, catching any seasoned fighter unprepared is usually a deadly event."
The guardian glanced at the incapacitated arm that rested at Kore's side with slight disinterest. He had seen worse and knew it was generally treatable by skilled healers if it was his wish. Kilgorin looked equally capable of cleaving in one hand, so he did not think much else of the injury. "I don't suppose you managed to pick up that trophy of battle by turning your back on someone less generous than myself?" he questioned, partially joking as he nodded his head toward Kore's bad arm.
He looked around the arena walls without an additional sound, just taking in the sight. While he had visited the Academy of Arms since his ascendance to godhood, he had much different experiences within the walls compared to his mortal encounters. He had returned again, braving the stares and looks, to train more with Solos and Rai. It was a preference to train somewhere besides the temple, and having been a weapons master here before, this appeared a logical place. Not waiting for an answer to his previous question, he added the main purpose for his talk.
"You know, you just hacked apart one of the only spare practice dummies. I had to check with the squires to make sure. I suppose that means that I will need to request your assistance with a sparring match. If you have caught your breath, do you accept?"

*He smirked as Sargoth walked towards him and felt a bit embarassed. He felt a bit ashamed that he didn't notice Sargoth in the area.* Heh, I guess you're right, but I don't think my enemies would invade this place for there are too many loyal to me here for any escape alive to be possible. Deadly event, yes. A great challenge, you bet.
*As Sargoth mentioned about his injury, he sighed.* No, this didn't happen by suprise...it happened from an undodgeable boulder. I kinda fell off a cliff battling these elves from a different plane. Guess I bit off more than I could chew and I paid the price for it. Although I can truthfully say that I haven't been more dedicated to training before the accident.
*He remembered back to when Sargoth was a fellow trainer like himself. He smirked as Sargoth asked him to train.* You know I was saddened to see you leave only shortly after you became a weapons master, but I'm sure glad that you have become the god of day. I would bow to you, but the ones I bow to are the ones who can defeat me in battle. So you can call that an acceptance to your sparring challenge.*He raised his good arm and wiped the sweat from his forehead, then gripped his sword tighter.* I'm ready whenever you are friend. The rules are so: No deadly strikes. Everything else is fair game as long as its not out of spite.

"That sounds about right," Sargoth commented as an overall response to both the story of Kore's injury and the rules of engagement. It just seemed to fit: not only did the situation sound appropriate for Kore to lose an arm, but given the circumstances the training was at a good level. In a light tone, he added, "I suppose that means the shipment of healing supplies made it in this month? I was worried that the caravan would have been rerouted to the new healing center."
Sargoth rolled his neck and stretched his shoulders and arms, releasing several loud cracks. He had been travelling for a long time and was still a bit stiff from remaining in the same position while walking. Still he refused to take any other means besides his own two feet between areas familiar to him. It was habit and he had no interest in breaking it. He enjoyed the scenery.
Holding both of his hands out at his sides, palms facing toward Kore, he stood still and waited as twin orbs formed. Solos and Rai grabbed the light in the area and reflected it brilliantly, almost like they could do nothing else but look appealing. But they could do much, much more.
Sargoth held his arms out in front of his body, orbs level, and a thick beam of light blinked into existance between them and out the opposing sides, like a longstaff. He nodded with a somber expression and declared, "Ready."

*He raised an eyebrow as he saw what appeared to be Sargoth's weapon.* Thats some pretty sohpisticated weaponry. I'm gonna have to work extra hard with you and these new "toys" you have. *He didn't mean to call them toy's, but thats what he considered anything he saw that reflected that much light.*
When Sargoth declared his readiness, he rolled his wrist around, spinning the sword around before he charged at Sargoth. As he closed the distance he stopped short. He stood only several feet from the god. He quickly moved his neck to the side, a loud cracking sound could be heard. As soon as it cracked, he bent down and swung his leg out to trip Sargoth.*
Sargoth - October 1, 2004 07:08 PM (GMT)
Sargoth watched Kore's figure fade down and away from his vision as he bent his body to try and trip him. The battle hardened guardian felt it was a good tactic, if it could actually reach him. With the quick twist of his wrist, the orb's energy was redirected downward into the ground, acting as a stiff blockade between his own leg and Kore's. The beam remained round like a staff haft intentionally; Sargoth did not want Kore to lose another limb if he made contact with a bladed counterpart. Not wishing to deal with a point blank counterattack with Kilgorin, he jumped back out of melee range directly after stopping the trip.
He eyed Kore, who was most likely still recovering his balance after the split second action, and mentioned, "These have been called toys before, but I can assure you that they are not playthings."
Almost before he had finished talking, he had raised the orb in his right hand to a throwing position and allowed a tendril of light to lash out like a whip, threatening to collide with Kore's body with a powerful snap if it did not get a stranglehold on his good wrist. Sargoth was fairly impressed by Solos and Rai. He had limited experience with the extent of their powers but was instilled with at least a working knowledge. As far as he could discern, they acted as logical extensions of his body based on the decisions of the user.

*While still rising from his initial attack, Kore's eyes widened as he saw these odd tools of light shape into a different weapon. he didn't know what to make of it but tried ot tumble out of the way of the visible light. He managed to barely escape the light's beam, but his forearm suffered a minor laceration from being in contact with it. When rising to his feet, he looked at his arm then at Sargoth.* Indeed they are not toys as I have called them...but what would I call them? They seem to be any weapon yet its not just one. This indeed is a treat- to face something I never have before...victory or loss, this shall indeed increase my skill. More, give me all you have. *Kore now knew of Sargoth's newfound unpredicableness, but as any unpredictable factor, there's always someone controlling it. If he could follow the mind of Sargoth, he could in-turn be able to foresee the weapons formed by these globes of light. His only problem was getting into Sargoth's way of thinking.*

"This is a day where we both learn, then. You will not see me taking this lightly," Sargoth responded, taking a little more time than usual since there was a stall in the combat. With quick motions of his wrist, he brought the two orbs in line with eachother once more, the object formed looking very much like a spear rather than a staff. Shifting his arms to one side of his body, he prepared for a series of strikes, hoping to test the capabilities of the weapons further.
Taking two steps forward, the God of Day was well within striking distance with the long spear tip. Lunging his arms forward, he sent the fine tip directly toward Kore's stomach. Knowing that the first attack would be easily dispatched due to the skill level of his opponent, he preplanned additional strikes to account for open holes in his guard. The most likely situation was for Kore to deflect the strike off to one side or the other, and maybe even attempt to close the distance between them in that small window. Instead, Sargoth was prepared to break the beam of light and shift his grip over slightly, allowing a halberd to form on Kore's opposite side. If he remained distant, he would have to worry about a blow on his open back. If he closed, the beam of light would prevent a straight path inward. Sargoth was especially curious about the reach of Solos and Rai, if Kore instead decided to back up. He had not tested the maximum length of his weaponry but had instead been using versions very close to normal dimensions.
Kore Takamura - November 9, 2004 02:27 PM (GMT)
*-This is unbelievable... How can I defend myself against a weapon that is all weapons...this will hurt- He thought to himself. It wasn't often that Kore knew nothing of his opponents weapons, but Sargoth's orbs were something not of this plane, maybe even this world. But nonetheless he would fight, win or lose, and give it his all.
Seeing the spear come closer to him, he noticed Sargoth hands looking as if they were preparing for something else. He then noticed the little choices he had of not getting hit. He clenched his teeth and followed his instincts. His sword raised, he rushed at the spear. As soon as the spear was in striking distance, Kore performed a minor silhouette to the righ but remained very close to the weapon. Still maintaining his momentum, he rushed at Sargoth's unprotected side and thrusted with Kilgorin just as quickly as he was moving. He had no clue what was in store for him, but he knew that he probably would have to try as hard as he is now for the rest of the fight. Deep inside he hoped that Sargoth would try and make too many weapons at once and get confused, leaving him momentarily defenseless, at least without a useable weapon.*
