Title: A wandering Soul

Rikou - September 30, 2004 10:39 PM (GMT)
Dusk was falling over the city, and it wouldn't be long before night encased the land in chilling folds. All shipments had ended for the day, the bay was empty; small waves rolled over the placid waters. The final rays of light caught the white caps on a few and glimmered, reflecting off the tranquil surface. It was a blissful sight indeed.

On one of the piles of cargo a box shifted and toppled over, crashing to the ground, breaking open with a loud crack. Rikou rolled out and ended sprawled before the box, dark hair a matted mess, cast about her like a rug. Her eye lashes fluttered as she opened them, revealing a vibrant emerald gaze. She let out a grunt as she pushed herself up and to her feet, rubbing her head, looking around, letting out a yawn. She didn't see anyone, maybe she'd been lucky and the commotion had gone unnoticed.

She hesitated and picked up the box, setting it straight before starting off, walking down the rows of ships. Rikou looked over each one, stretching every so often, stiff from the long travel in the cramped quarters of the box. She sighed before stopping as she came to the end of the dock, which was blocked by a rail, giving fair warning that the wood didn't extend beyond that point.

She turned slowly, looking back over the rows of ships, waiting for the dawn of the next day to begin their travels once again. She smiled inwardly, she'd managed to do what she and a small group of those back home had attempted and failed at in past attempts. She'd found a way to rid herself of the poverty of her homelands and start anew. Now she faced a new challange... Getting that life started without getting in trouble..

She turned back to the waters and leaned against the rail, letting out a soft, content sigh, watching the sea birds glide over the waters. The failing light danced over the ripples as the wind calmed for a moment. As Rikou stood there she watched the sun fall behind the horizon, giving the stars their chance to be seen. A cold chill swept over the waters to the port city, but Rikou didn't seem to notice, she just continued to gaze over the vast waters in silence.

Jahesd - September 30, 2004 11:12 PM (GMT)
As Jahesd was walking through the vast docks, he saw a lovely woman. She had wild, black hair. She was standing quite a bit away looking up the night sky. Jahesd stared his way over to her, keeping quite and stealthy. He did not want to frighten her. He wanted to approach her in a friendly and unthreatening way. As he was silently walking towards her, a cold chill swept from under his feet. It had the scent of the ocean water.

He walked up to her slowly. She did not even seem to notice. Jahesd looked up the stars along with this stranger. Beautiful, are they not? he said. Jahesd looked at her and extended his hand to her in greetings. Do not be afraid. I am only harmless. Nothing else. My name is Jahesd.

Rikou - September 30, 2004 11:32 PM (GMT)
Rikou puased before looking to the stranger beside her, tearing her gaze from the waters. She paused before arching an eyebrow, listening to him. She'd heard him approaching, but she'd chosen to ignore it, knowing she was quite capable of defending herself if it came to be needed. She tilted her head slightly, looking over him.

To waste the effort of thought or not? You've gotten into situations not so different then this before, have you not? She questioned herself, pausing, letting out a slight shrug before looking up at the stars. "I guess they are..." She let her voice trail off softly. There was a hint of a foreign accent, smooth yet rich and steady.

She let out a soft chuckle. "And what is it that makes you so sure that I would need to be afraid of one such as yourself?" She paused, contemplating upon whether she should give out her name or not, maybe he was from back home, ready to take her back to her kind, which were treated as pets, one for another's personal amusement.

Rikou hesitated for only a moment more before taking his hand, accepting the greeting. "They call me Ria... 'Tis a pleasure to meet thee." It was particially true, that had been her nickname when she was younger, but it had been many years since she'd been called it. She looked to him, orbs searching him once again before looking out across the waters, watching him out of the corner of her eye, not fully willing to trust someone who'd pretty much snuk up behind her, or atleast attempted to.

Jahesd - October 1, 2004 10:32 PM (GMT)
Jahesd looked to the stars onece again. He was amazed at the heavens' beauty. He let in a deep breath and turned to Ria. He looked at her, wondering what her buisness was. He was one to question though, as he himself was strutting along the docks at dusk. You are right Ria. Why fear me? I am obviously of no harm. You are strong and are able to defend yourself. Why fear one such as my self? He tried to get a look into her eyes to see what she has been through in the past. Jahesd looked out on the waters. He turned toward Ria and said, Where do you come from, Ria? I have not seen you on these lands before. Please correct me if I wrong, but are a newcomer?

Ria watched him, listening slightly, wondering what she should think about the being beside her. She followed his lead as she slowly lifted her gaze up, the reflecting of the starts dancing in the orbs as she let out a soft, barely audible sigh. She let out a slight smirk at his words and shrugged gently.

"I learned when I was young that you should only fear whatever makes your bones feel hollow and empty, and what makes your heart clench and shatter in your chest. Unless you can do both of these, I shouldn't have anything from you. The question you should be asking is, should you be fearing me?" She looked at him, metting his gaze, letting him search for whatever it was that he seemed to be looking for within her subtle gaze, a possible door-way to her soul.

There was a sense of a stable confidence and an aire of composed dignity. But withheld in the green depths was a slight bit of built up fear and confusion and uneasiness, she didn't seem all there, like she was so desperate to push something away that she came to push away a part of herself. She finally looked away, back down to the water, bowing her head slightly.

She shrugged. "Aye, I am new to these lands. I come from a land known as Tirboea. It's small and out of the way. Not many people live there. nd now... no one lives there... and no one ever will again..." She let out a soft sigh, looking to him before closing her eyes particially, turning, leaning back against the rail, shoulders slumpping slightly at the memories of the first home she could remember.
