Title: Healer for Hire

Kyonis - September 24, 2004 01:01 AM (GMT)
Kyonis confidently walked down the planked wooden docks of the Eastern portion of Talas. All around him rather swarthy men unloaded boxes of cargo from boats. It was nearing nightfall, and the men were beginning to leave the boxes and head for the many taverns which lined the docks. Already, Kyonis could hear the boisterous singing of sailors.

Kyonis scowled back as a man pushing a cart of coal off a ship gave Kyonis a suspicious glare. Kyonis would not be intimidated by the hard looks of these men. He had decided to wear his black robes, much more fitting in this environment than his lighter ones. The men about him still seemed to recognize Kyonis as an outsider, however. That was all right. Kyonis had no intentions of befriending any of these men.

The lanterns were just being lit in the taverns surrounding the docks. Men poured in, and already the shouts of drunken men driften on the wind. This was just what Kyonis had planned for. Daily men died in overblown arguements, which escalated to brawls, in these port-city taverns. Where there were brawls, there was wounds. Where there were wounds, there was for a healer business. And where there was business, there was money. All Kyonis needed to do was wait for the first needy sailor to lose a fight, and Kyonis would have his first customer.

Kyonis was well prepared, and had specifically equipped himself for this environment. In addition to Kyonis's newly learned Greater Heal spell, Kyonis also had with him a number of soothing and healing salts, as well as smelling salts to awaken any unconscious victims. These salts were rare, as well as useful. Using them on a sailor near death would bring Kyonis a fair amount of gold indeed.

Aleria - September 26, 2004 04:41 PM (GMT)
Aleria got down off of the ship, whch she had gone on sicne she was a trader and helped transport goods from town-to-town. She hopped off of the deck and used her wings to glide her down onto the docks with a soft thump. She looked at the taverns lining the street and then at the inns. She shrugged her shoulders and shook her head, not knowing where to go.

Definately not the Bloodseal Tavern... she told herself as she turned around on her heels and walked towards one of the taverns. Today, she wasn't in a dress. She was in men's clothes, actually. And thankfully. She was the only woman on the ship, so she knew better than to wear a dress when she was aboard a ship with half-drunked men.

She sighed and looked around once more, heading off in another direction when she saw a man in black robes. Maybe he could help her. She assumed he would help a woman. So, she jogged over to him and smiled politely. "My apologies for bothering you, sir, but do you know of any good Taverns that I may be able to get a good drink at, with an Inn not too far away? I have to be up bright and early tomorrow to help unload the rest of the ship..." she sighed and nodded towards it, although she knew he probably had already seen it. He can't be that dumb as to not see it there... He looks pretty smart. I can't tell of his occupation though. And I know I haven't seen him before, either... she told herself as she stepped back, waiting for a response.

Kyonis - September 28, 2004 11:34 AM (GMT)
"I'm afraid I am of no assistance there," Kyonis replied. "This is my first time at the docks. Besides that, I do not drink alcoholic beverages. I have actually only come to offer my healing services here". He paused, smiling. "You don't need a healer, do you?". He could of course could see that she did not, but decided to ask anyways, more out of politeness than anything else.

Kyonis was glad of the diversion. This had not quite worked out as he had hoped. No one seemed in need of healing. Kyonis reasoned that a little bit of small talk could do no damage. Smiling at the woman who had disembarked from the ship before him, Kyonis asked her, "And what is your name? I am Kyonis, mage and healer".

The breeze ruffled Kyonis's black robes as he awaited the woman's answer. The smell of salt water drifted through the air, calming his senses. The scent truly was intoxicating. The docks creaked as ships bobbed up and down in the tides of the ocean, the ropes which anchored them to the dock straining and releasing accordingly. Dull footsteps could be heard in the coming darkness as more and more men disembarked their vessels and headed either for their families or for their taverns, most for the latter.

Aleria - September 30, 2004 07:52 PM (GMT)
She listened to what he had to say and then nodded her head. "My name is Aleria. A trader as I have stated before. And I'm a big follower of the Goddess of Air, Ciara." She smiled and nodded her head and noted that the only spells she aimed on learning were Air spells. She had met the Goddess twice and had also told her that she would be glad to be one of her Chosen, yet she was still determining whether she would be or wouldn't be.

"It is nice to meet you, Kyonis." She smiled and stuck out her hand in greeting. She used control winds to make the winds die down and the boats stopped bobbing up and down and the docks stopped creaking with every wave. Their trips on the boats were shorter since she had learned control winds since she could speed them up and point them in the right direction. N o one knew it was her, though.

"I'll probably go to the Elfsong. It's a nice place there. I don't like the Bloodseal Tavern, though. Too mane people in there stare at me if I go in, and many tried pickpocketing me. Luckily, though, I have fast reflexes and I caught them before they got away with my Gold." She laughed and shook her head, r emembering t heir faces when she had grabbed their hands. She could have turned them in, but she decided not to, even though she knew it was the right thing to do. She knew that it was their way of living, so she wouldn't let them be taken away for that.
