Title: A Mysterious Stone

Shynthriir - September 19, 2004 03:39 AM (GMT)
Shynthriir walked through the marsh. A few trees were scattered about and the ground was covered in moss and other green vegitation that you would only find in such a marsh. His feet would start to slide into the muk before he pulled it out, only to put it in a new place for it to be sucked into the ground.

Eventually a path was seen. Rocks were lined up in such an obvious way that Shynthriir knew it to be a path marked by previous travelers in this reagon. He questioned if the path was truly safe, thinking it to be a trap put by some unknown race to lure strangers into their domain. Shynthriir cleared those thoughts quickly from his head. He stepped onto the marked path which held his weight with ease, his feet not sinking in the ground. It was a lot easier to walk without the mud and muk on his boots.

He started walking again, further into the marsh. He walked into the marsh so as to learn the landscape in case he needed to know of it later on in his travels. He kept to the path and then saw something in the muk of the ground a few yards in front of him. Shynthriir quickly walked to the mysterious object and pulled it free of the mud.

It was a stone, or appeared to be a stone at least. It seemed to glow with an odd blue hue of light. There were marking on the stone too, but Shynthriir did not know if they were just scatches or if they had some hidden meaning.

Meera cantered Enzo through the forest on no particular path weaving in and out through the marsh trees. Meera was getting him used to many terrains and this one was by far the hardest for him. Enzo wasn't used to his feet sinking into the mucky mud but Meera would need for him to get used to it because now they would be riding here often. When Enzo finally started gettting tired, she jumped off and let him rest. They stood on a path. Since Meera couldn't just let Enzo stand there after galloping she led him down the path to keep him walking. Down the path she saw a strange hooded man looking down at a stone just about as strange as him.

She walked up making as much noise as she could so that she didn't scare him. She gazed intently at the stone and muttered to herself wondering what it was. She finally asked the man "Do you know what this stone is?" and she looked at him questioningly. Enzo sighed for he was not going to be included in this so he went off to find some nice marsh grasses to eat. Meera gazed once again back down to the bluish stone trying to remeber wether she had seen something like this before or not.

Shynthriir - September 19, 2004 04:31 PM (GMT)
Shynthriir heard some noices behind him and glanced back. Another traveler had come this way, she looked mostly human with a few differences here and there. She walked up to him and looked at the stone he was holding. What was the stone? Shynthriir had no idea. He was going to ask someone else the same thing, and it seemed that this person didn't know, but he wouldn't know unless he asked.

"I found this stone in the mud over there," Synthriir pointed at the fround a few steps in front of him, "It seems to let out this constant glow of blue." He turned the rock around in his hand, "There are markings all around it, but from what, I do not know. I think they might be runes of some sort, do you have any ideas?"

Nightgazer - September 19, 2004 05:26 PM (GMT)
Meera peered at it deeply and said "That's unusual, I've never seen anything like it" She thought back to all of the nature books that she had read that had content about special stones and could not recall anything that looked even similar to this one. She said "well, I'm Meera, who might you be?" and she nodded politely in consideration instead of doing a bow or curtsy. She added "I can't read runes, sorry." and she tried to think of someone who might have been able to.

In the meantime, Meera's mind had kept thinking about one stone in the book that looked vaugely similar but she distinctly remembered that it was found in the mountain ranges. She told herself that if this were indeed the stone that she was thinking of, something had to have brought it here or else it is not the one that she is thinking of.

Shynthriir - September 19, 2004 09:54 PM (GMT)
Shynthriir's hopes were crushed when he learned that his guess about the meaning of the rock is as good as his own. Though, maybe the this other person know about the rock, but it was something Shynthriir might have to find out it's meaning by himself. It continued it's glow, the one characteristic that made him wonder it's meaning more than anything else, more than where he found it and the marking on it.

Shynthriir returned the welcoming nod, "I am Shynthriir, it might be a hard name to pronounce, even I have trouble saying it once in a while." Shynthriir almost laughed. It waswhat he just said sounded a little bit odd, but it just rolled of his toungue and he couldn't take back what he had just proclaimed.

Shynthriir's thoughts returned to the rock, if it truly was a rock, that was in his hand. Still glowing, still mysterious, Shynthriir didn't take an eye off of it when he asked, "You seem as if you are keeping something about this rock from me, I don't want to call you a liar, but you must know something that I don't. You seem af if you've traveled these lands more than I."

Nightgazer - September 25, 2004 08:17 PM (GMT)
Meera smiled politely at the comment he almost laughed at. She didn't want to seem like a serious person but something about this rock was troubling her. It was almost as if it had a certain aura around it that sent shivers up her spine. As it did, it was almost as if a certain thought got to her head that was just out of reach. That thought was what the stone was but it was just out of grasp. When she heard the man speaking once again and wondering what was on her mind, she replied honestly for there was no reason not to tell him. She said "Something just out of my grasp is telling me what it is. I cannot quite reach it and it keeps giving me the feeling that I have seen it somewhere before. It was indeed a memory long ago that has been buried deep within my memory. I just can't quite put my finger on what the rock was for." She stopped and went deep into thought once more trying to catch the memory that kept running further away as she chased after it.

Shynthriir - September 25, 2004 09:23 PM (GMT)
Shynthriir's hopes were renewed at the the information. He had found someone that could help him, if her memeory of this strage rock lingered in the stranger's head long enough for her to tell the rock's truth.

"Information maybe? Does it tell some sort of tale of a battle long ago faught between races not known to this world? Is it a key of some sort? A key that unlocks the mysteries of some place, maybe some world, that we as a people have yet to discover?" He continued to tell about things the rock could be, hoping to trigger some memory, a recolection, that this girl might have in her mind.

Nightgazer - September 26, 2004 12:17 PM (GMT)
((do you have a meaning for this rock or do you want me to just make up one?))

Meera's eyes glowed with anticipation, it was coming closer, if she could just remember how, where, and what happened when she found that rock. She remembered holding the rock in her hands and wondering what she should do with it. Meera thought -Oh god, if only I could remeber!- Her face scrunched up in concentration. She opened her eyes and looked towards the stranger. Not really looking at him just looking towards him. She was so deep in thought that she didn't notice what she was looking at or what the stone looked like anymore. Her mind raced to try and figure out the answer. Meera came out of thought for one second, but that was all it took for her to look at the rock truly and deeply and realize what it was. "I've got it!" She cried out as she reached for the rock and attempted to tell him what it was for.

Shynthriir - September 26, 2004 07:09 PM (GMT)
(( No purpose what so ever, if you have an idea about it, go ahead and tell ))

Shynthriir's eyes opened in awe at the sudden exclaimation of the girl. She knew the meaning, knew the purpose of this mysterious rock. He needed no words in reply, he knew that the look on his face would tell her to proceed in the true meaning behind this rock.

Nightgazer - September 28, 2004 09:52 PM (GMT)
She thought about the easiest way to word what the rock could do, It was almost unexplainable. She finally ended up saying "this rock, I saw in a battle once but sadly, it was on the wrong side, I only saw part of its real powers. I know that it can change day into night, and reverse time, but that might not be its full potinental, I had not time to see what the weilder did for he reversed time and I found myself back home, the battle never happned again. I'm sorry I cannot tell you more, but I hope that this helps you with whatever you plan to do with it." She ran her hands over the smooth surface of the blue glowing rock, studying it and reaching deeper into her memory to see if she could withdraw anymore new information on the rock but sadly it came to no avail. She shrugged and handed the rock back to him. It was then that she questioned "what do you plan to do with it now that I have told you of its powers?" She was curious for she did not want it to fall into the wrong hands again.

Shynthriir - September 29, 2004 05:04 AM (GMT)
The drow looked at the rock with awe and wonder. THe powers that this unique rock were truely powerful and this girl was right that it could, and probably would, be very dangerous in the wrong hands. In the right hands, this rock could be used to make peace for all races. It could right all the wrongs people have ever made. This rock had it's upsides, but it also had it's downsides.

Shynthriir thought himself to be a good natured person, never using his powers or weapons for anything but good or to prevent evil from doing it's deeds. This rock, however, could make him, a good person, better. A hero among heros it would make him. The power, true power made him stop. Shynthriir was not one to quickly come to answers. Several moments passed before he knew what to do.

"This rock is a threat to everyone. Even someone that is not evil would surely become corrupted by the extraordinary power of such an artifact. I would not feel safe knowing that anyone, good or bad, possessed it." He rotated the rock in his hands, taking all of it in once more.

He then held it above his head and moved his arm down as to destroy the rock, but found that he could not. He tried again angerly, but three times in a row, he would not let damage come to it. He wished to destroy it, rid the world of it's power, but couldn't.

Nightgazer - September 29, 2004 10:11 PM (GMT)
Meera watched silently contemplating what to do with a rock holding as much power as this one. Her thoughts were going along the same lines as his "What if it falls into evil hands again? What will it do to someone even if they are good through and through?" She thought hard for this was a serious matter that had come to only two humble people's lives. She watched motionlessly as he tried to destroy the rock and after she knew that he had found that he could not destroy it, she remembered another thing that she had heard about this mysterious stone, it could only be destroyed by the one that knew its full strength and had used the rock many a times, good or bad, the only person that she knew had used the rock was the evil man that had been lost when he changed the time. All other people that she could think of were only guesses and even them she doubted. She said contemplatively "maybe one of the gods or goddesses have heard of a rock like this one?" She shrugged and stared blankly back out at the trees.

Shynthriir - September 29, 2004 11:53 PM (GMT)
"Gods or Goddesses? I have met with one of the Gods, but learned little about them." Shynthriir once again looked at the stone near the tenth, and definitly not the last, time. "It was the Fire God I met that day, but my visit was cut short by an urgent need to do," Shynthriir paused a moment to find the right works, "Something."

Again, Shynthriir looked at the rock, "Do you know which God or Goddess would be the best to ask?"

Nightgazer - October 1, 2004 12:35 AM (GMT)
Meera studied the stone for a second thinking about the possible gods or goddess' that could have powers relevent to that of the stone's. She shrugged and finally answered with, "My best guess would be that of the goddess of magic, the goddess of night, or the god of day" She glanced up at him hoping for his input. She had narrowed down the choices for them but she did not think that either of them would have time to visit them all. She thought to all of their powers once again seeing if she could cut some from the list. But she could not for she wasn't a goddess and did not know each one's individual powers. She thought about the goddess of magic because she would be the one that would know the most spells.

Shynthriir - October 1, 2004 04:24 AM (GMT)
Shythriir looked again at the rock and then at the girl. "I shall go to the Goddess as soon as I can. I thank you for your help, but feel I must leave as soon as I can to learn more of this rock." Shynthriir nodded his head in respect and swiftly ran from the marsh in search of the Magic Goddess.
