Title: Seeking Solitude

Valdearg - September 18, 2004 04:25 PM (GMT)
Valdearg fought his ay through the foilage, wondering when it was going to lessen up. He had first heard about this place from a caravan of travelers that he had passed by, and decided to head this direction. A place where there are spaces large enough for a dragon to stretch out without once touching a tree they had said. True they had mentioned the wall of greenary that barricaded the way, but Valdearg was determined to make his way through it. He longed for the peace and quiet of an empty forest, a place where he could stay for hours on end just thinking about what was going on. A place without interruptions from any humans or elves or anybody that was going by. He wouldn't mind if a few visitors came by, but a neverending stream of people was to much. Sometimes, he even detested sitting at the council of the Elder Dragons, the long arguements that they had tried Valdearg's patience.

Suddenly, he broke through the barricade of nature, almost falling over from the lack of resistance he met going forward. He looked up, and gazed around him. The sounds and sights of nature had a calming affect, and he instantly felt at ease. He walked slowly through the clearing, and found a good spot to just lay down and rest. He sat next to one of the few trees, and rested against it, watching as the sunlight played across the trees, and the breezes stirred the air.

(Ranewen only please)

Ranewen - September 18, 2004 05:35 PM (GMT)
Ranewen was walking amongst the trees, her companions slowly following, including her dragon, who was in his human form only because he’d be too big to get through the thick foliage and whatnot. She twisted around the trees and then saw a clearing ahead. So the traders weren’t lying… There are clearings big enough for dragons. They won’t have to curl themselves up, just like they had said. They can stretch lazily an d not touch any trees. How wonderful! I wish I came here sooner… she thought to herself as she took her first step into the clearing.

Before she could do anything, she saw another figure in the clearing – another dragon. She frowned, not knowing whom it was. She crossed her arms and looked back at Ryu, who was already into his dragon form, Renor. She sighed angrily and began to walk amongst the few trees and picked her spot. Her shadow dragon stretched out next to her, his head by her thigh. She looked around and looked closer at the dragon. Something very familiar was about him, yet she still did not know who it was. So, she waited until he would shift to finally figure out what she longed to know.

Valdearg looked up when he heard the sound of footsteps in the clearing. Looking around, he spotted a woman and a draogn entering the clearing. From this distance he couldn't be sure who it was, but there was something familiar about the woman. He decided a conversation with just one person would be relaxing, and stood up, stretching before he headed over there. As he got closer, he was almost certain that he had seen the woman somewhere before, but where? When he was close enough to see her face clearly, he recognized her. It was Ranewen, the woman he had met in the mountains that night long ago.

He bowed to her and the dragon, wondering if she would remember him. She very well might, it wasn't everyday that a dragon started a conversation with you. A cool breeze took up, stirring the leaves on the trees, and picking up some of the dead leaves on the ground, carrying them around. "Hello Ranewen, it is good to see you again. I have often wondered what happened to you after you split company with me at the bottom of the mountains."

As Ranewen leaned against her dragon, she had closed her eyes. Now, when she opened them, she saw that the dragon was coming closer. She nearly got up and ran behind Renor, but he told her that this dragon didn’t seem to want to harm them. Merely, say hello. Or make friends… Renor added since he did not know that the two knew each other. Ranewen stood up, leaning against the shoulder of Renor as the dragon continued to come nearer to her.

Finally, she recognized who it was and she nearly smacked herself in the head for not recognizing him sooner. It was Valdearg! She sighed in what seemed to be relief. Then, he had spoken. To her. She smiled and decided that it would only be polite as to speak back. “Hello, Valdearg. It is nice to see you again. This is my shadow dragon, Renor Cryso.” She smiled and looked back at Renor, who bowed his head in respect as well to the other dragon. “Hello, Valdearg. It is a pleasure to have met you,” he said and let his head back up to its normal height, looking down on both of them. Ranewen smiled and patted her dragon on his left shoulder.

I found him in the Gwilikith Mountain Range with Sargoth, who now is the God of Day. I’m surprised I did not hear of it sooner…” she said as her voice trailed off and she looked around for a moment. The clearing was bigger than she had seen before, now surrounded by two dragons and the rest of her familiars. She rose an eyebrow to herself, wondering what in the world had made this many years ago. It could have been a natural disaster, and it could have been someone’s doing. Either way ,she was glad.

"It is a pleasure to meet you Renor Cryso, it is not everyday that I meet a shadow dragon that isn't trying to attack something, so I never had the chance to actually see what your kind was like." Valdearg looked at the surrounding forest, still marvaled by the peaceful setting that seemed to radiate from the very earth itself. Valdearg thought back with to his own meeting with Sargoth, remembering the plans that he had for bringing peace between the dragons and gryphons. He had thought Sargoth crazy at the time, but it had turned out for the best.

"I know Sargoth, I went to see him not to long ago. He spotted me for the dragon that I really was even though I sought to hide it. He will be a fine god. He is just and fair, but not afraid to weild his power how he feels necessary." Valdearg stood still as the wind washed over him, grateful for the cooling breeze. He wished that he could stay in this clearing forever, but he knew it couldn't be so. He had to much to do. He had his responsibilites to the Clan to think about.

Ranewen - September 26, 2004 05:05 AM (GMT)
So, my dead friend, has anything changed since we have last talked to each other? I think it was in the Gwilikith Mountain Range, correct? When you helped me kill the orcs.” She smiled and, eased now, she sat cross-legged and watched him as the wind blew her hair in front of her face. She brushed it behind her ear and sighed, frustrated with it for a moment. She then slightly unsheathed her sword and cut a piece of her shirt off – which was very thin – and wrapped it around her hair.

She felt a lot cooler, with her hair off of her shoulders and not clinging to her slightly sweaty face. She looked at him and then at Renor Cryso, glad that they were off to a good start. She decided to speak before Renor had the chance to. “He’s not as evil as some people think. He definitely is ruthless, though… I can tell you that from experience.” She laughed slightly and decided it was best to tell Valdearg how she experienced it. “I met Sargoth in the Dragon Spine Mountains, when I was searching for a dragon. I found Renor, captured him, and here he is now.

She paused for a moment, deciding on whether she’d tell him about what Renor had almost done. She decided she would. Valdearg was her friend, was he not? “He snapped Sargoth’s blade in two with such ease and it didn’t even hurt him. Quite odd, I’d say, but true. He almost killed the God of Day, but then, he wasn’t the God of Day, or I’m sure Renor would be better mannered.” She smirked and looked back at Renor, who seemed to have a questioning look in his eyes. Ranewen didn’t answer his question. She only looked away and back at Valdearg.

Rahvein looked up at Valdearg with interest, growling so lowly that Ranewen could barely hear it. She placed a hand on the white wolf’s neck and she immediately calmed down and relaxed, watching the dragon with interest, wondering who he was and why he was talking to her mistress, the one who had adopted her. Found her, rather. Maral, on the other hand, was watched half-heartedly from where she was now, munching on some grass, her ears twitching as Ranewen looked back at her, head going up slightly to see who was looking at her. Seeing that it was only Ranewen, she went back to grazing without even giving her and attention.

Tiu and Jordison looked at each other and the two began to wrestle like they had in the Ebon Plains only a few days ago. Ranewen remembered that day clearly and she almost smiled at it. It was funny, to see them play with Sargoth’s pseudo-dragon Angredon. They were now wrestling with each other, rolling around on the ground. Ranewen’s attention then went back to Valdearg, awaiting his reply.
