Title: Target Practice

Ahren - August 29, 2004 03:27 AM (GMT)
Ahren walked into the archery range, determined to get some training done. He would need to train as much as possible to get used to this shortbow. He silently cursed under his breath, he had to completely redoe his shooting style, just because he had been forced to use a short bow instead of his own elven bow. He quickly stood in front of one of the targets and took a couple of practice shots, his arrows getting nowhere close to the target. He cursed under his breath once again, this bow had nowhere near the power that he was used to, he would have to aim up more, and allow for the time it took the arrow to fall. He collected his arrows, and began to fire again, determined that he would get used to this pathetic weapon.

Ranewen - August 30, 2004 12:03 AM (GMT)
Ranewen watched him curiously, from the other side of the arena. She saw his lips move, perhaps he had said something under his brewath, which is what she had assumed. Slowly, she made herf way over to him and placed a hand on his shoulder. "No need to curse at the bow or yourself. You just have to get used to it." She smiled lightly and let her hand drop from his shoulder. She then stood behind him and helped him aim his bow before stepping back a few steps. "Now try it." She hadn't even introduced herself yet, but that could wait. She wanted to see if he would get it at least on the target this time.

((Hope you don't mind that I posted. Heh.))

Ahren - August 30, 2004 12:46 AM (GMT)
Ahren had no idea who this strange girl was, but he was glad for the help that she offered. He aimed down the arrow, and released the bowstring. He watched as it soared across the range to bury itself in the target, about half way to the center. He turned and nodded his head to the stranger to show his gratitude. "Thank you for your help, it's just that I am not used to a shortbow. My name is Ahren Elessedil, what is yours?"

(that's okay, I just wanted anyone to post.)

Ranewen - August 30, 2004 12:54 AM (GMT)
"I am Ranewen Amandil." She smiled and then stuck her hand out for him to shake if he wished to do so. "It's a pleasure to see you," she said as well, a smile sort of on her face. "I've never met a half-elf, half-angel. You live an immortal live no matter what I assume? I do. Well, I didn't at first, but two times I have died, and yet here I am..." She shook her head and sighed, obviously not wanting this immortal life that wouldn't let her die.

Ahren - August 30, 2004 01:04 AM (GMT)
Ahren reached out and took her hand, bringing it to his lips. "It is a pleasure to meet you Ranewen. Once again thank you for your help. I am not know for my patience, so it makes it somewhat difficult to learn how to aim with a weaker bow." Ahren gave Ranewen a good look over, taking in every detail about her. He was a bit curious as to why she would want to live a mortal life, until he thought about it for a few moments. "Yes, I am immortal like yourself, but unlike you, I enjoy my immortality. It has been a pleasure to live in this world and watch the many changes that have occured throughout the years."

Ranewen - August 30, 2004 01:25 AM (GMT)
She nodded her head, understanding that it would be nice to live a "normal" immortal life. "Well, you see, I was once a normal human, leading a normal life, 190 years ago... I was only fourteen when I first died, and I spent four years in heaven before I was wrongfully accused of something. I was cast down as a fallen angel. Then, only a few days ago, I was assassinated. Well, not exactly." She paused for a moment, trying to figure out how to put it. After she figured it out, she continued. "I was stabbed in the stomach and my wrist was slit as my Nightmare galloped away with me on her back. We arrived at the Temple of Nature, where I collapsed in the doorway, and I died there of blood loss. Only a few moments later, I was fine and figured out that I can't die really. Only, if..." Her voice trailed off and she shrugged her shoulders. "Well, I can't tell you that. But the o nly reason that I am still here if for revenge."

Ahren - August 30, 2004 01:40 AM (GMT)
"Ah, revenge, the only reason that most people refuse to die. I know that feeling well, it has become common place in the world I have lived in." Ahren turned to face towards the target again, thinking about what Ranewen had said, going over her words in his mind. "If you don't mind telling me, what is it that you were accused of doing? I will understand if you don't want to tell me, but I would still like to know." Ahren turned back to face Ranewen as he waited for her to respond to his question.

Ranewen - August 30, 2004 01:53 AM (GMT)
She had to think for a while. No one had ever asked her this question before. "I can barely remember. I believe they thought that I had admitted to someone - one of the Gods - that I only lived to be in Hell, and that I wished to leave Heaven. It was something like that. I don't think the Gods like anyone talking about Hell or not wanting to be in that place, you know?" She shrugged her shoulders again, not really knowing for sure, as the memory was slightly erased by the Gods so she couldn't tell anybody.

Ahren - August 30, 2004 02:00 AM (GMT)
"Oh, that's interesting. I wonder what it would be like to go to heaven or hell, I have never been to either one." Ahren waited for her to say something, fidgeting as the lack of things that he had to say. He decided to try and practice a bit more. He quickly walked in front of the target, trying to aim the way Ranewen had shown him. He released the bow, and the arrow flew across the range, once again hitting the target.

Ranewen - August 30, 2004 02:14 AM (GMT)
"Heaven's not fun, and I am sure that I'll never be seeing that place again. I don't know what Hell is like, but one thing is for sure: I'll find out one day." She smirked and then looked at the target and nodded. She looked at another one and took out a fighting knife and flung it at the target and hit it in the bull's eye. "Well, I wasn't expecting a bull's eye... I'll admit that that was luck." She nodded her head and looked back at him.

Ahren - August 30, 2004 02:22 AM (GMT)
Ahren smiled as she hit the bull's eye, and gave a quiet laugh when he compared her target to his. "Yeah, I could never believe that you would purposely show me up, even though there is no one else here." Ahren decided to try once again. He drew one of his better arrows, and sighted carefully down the shaft of the arrow. He took his time in finally firing, but when he did, this arrow was closer to the center than the other two had been. He smiled when he reviewed his target, at least it wasn't taking him a long time to get used to a shortbow.

Ranewen - August 30, 2004 02:31 AM (GMT)
She threw her other fighting knife she had received fro mthe GOd of Nature and flung it at the target. It landed on one of the outside rings and she smirked and looked over at Ahren. "See? I got lucky that time. I'm not used to fighting with knives or anything. I'm more a mage - a conjurer, if you will. I am good in summoning creatures to my command," She nodded and looked around. "I'd show you, but I don't think magic is allowed here."

Ahren - August 30, 2004 02:37 AM (GMT)
"A mage eh, I never really got into magic, I was much better with a bow and arrow. Magic just took to much studying for me to get any good at it, but I might eventually change my mind and learn a couple of useful spells." Ahren decided to keep on firing since he was getting better. He drew another arrow, and aimed it at the target. This time, when he fired, the arrow managed to land in the inner most circle.

Ranewen - August 30, 2004 02:40 AM (GMT)
SHe smiled at his improving aim. "You can hit a still target. But what happens if you try and hit a moving target? Shoot at me as I move across the room. I'll start at a walk, and I'll turn it into a run as you get better. And don't worry, I can't die from being shot with arrows, remember." She winked at him before she jogged away and when she was about thirty feet from him, she began to walk slowly.

Ahren - August 30, 2004 03:01 AM (GMT)
Ahren was a little bit hesitent about shooting at Ranewen, despie her assurances that she couldn't die from being shot by arrows. What if he accidently killed her, in the way that she had started to mention but then stopped. He slowly drew an arrow from his quiver and prepared to fire. His hand shook a little as he brought it up to pull back the string, and he followed Ranewen with his bow, looking for the right moment to fire. He suddenly released the sting and the arrow flew by, going about two feet behind her. He released a sigh of relief, and wiped his sweaty hand on his pants, wondering what she would say.

Ranewen - August 30, 2004 03:13 AM (GMT)
"Don't be afraid to shoot at me. The only way I can die is... Well, I still won't tell you, but it is impossible for you to kill me right now." She smiled at him reassuringly and looked behind as his arrow flew two feet behind her. "Go ahead and shoot, or I'll have to provoke you. And you don't want to see me provoke people." She cast a devilish smile.

Ahren - August 30, 2004 03:24 AM (GMT)
Ahren took one look at that smile and instantly agreed with her, he didn't want to have her provoke him into shooting her. Something told her that if she had to provoke him, he wouldn't like the result. He drew another arrow, and aimed out of fear this time. He decided that he would have to trst her and hope that she wasn't suicidal when she said that she wouldn't die. He took careful aim, putting the arrow slightly ahead of her to compensate for her walking forward. He released the arrow, and watched it soar towards her.

(I didn't post whether you got hit or not cause that would be sort of like god-modding.)

Ranewen - August 30, 2004 03:42 AM (GMT)
She smirked as the arrow got her in the right arm. She plucked it out as if it did no garm to her whatsoever. Blood was spilling out of the wound and soon enough, the blood seeped back in and it closed itself up. She slid the arrow on the ground towards him, not wanting to throw it at him. She began to walk quicker and decided to play with him a little. "Try harder. Try again."

(It's your practise. :) You can decide where it hits her. It's fine by me.)

Ahren - September 3, 2004 01:02 AM (GMT)
Ahren picked up the arrow off of the ground, preparing to fire again. He carefully pulled the bowstring back, taking aim as Ranewen walked across the shooting range. He decided to try something new, he launched his first arrow at Ranewen, and quickly pulled another arrow out of his quiver and fired it towards Ranewen. The two arrows flew at Ranewen and hit their target, not where he had wanted them to, but they had hit her. The first one hit her in the right shoulder, and the second one on her lower right side.

Ranewen - September 3, 2004 01:19 AM (GMT)
She stumbled at the sudden impact, put she plucked the arrows easily. She then began to use a dance she had done in the streets a while ago, dancing as a preformer. She had to move a lot in this, and perhaps it would be harder for Ahren to hit her. Either way, she smirked. "Can you hit me now?" she asked, a smirk on her face. She had a provoking expression upon her face, wanting him to try harder. She had hoped that this would help him in future fights he may or may not have.

Ahren - September 4, 2004 04:29 PM (GMT)
Ahren watched Ranewen move about with a doubtful expression on his face, he could discern no pattern with the dance, which didn't help his chances of hitting her. He drewback his bowstring, and carefully followed Ranewen with it, taking his time in trying to find the best oppurtunity to fire at her. He suddenly released the bow string an fired his arrow, watching it sail through the air. It just missed her, she had moved at the last second.

Ranewen - September 4, 2004 04:49 PM (GMT)
Ranewen smirked as the arrow wizzed by her. "Nice try." Then, she began to run at him. "Can you hit a target coming at you?" she asked in a daring voice as she ran at him, fast, but not as fast as she could manage. She waited for him to release the arrows. An orc running a thim head on would not try and dodge the arrows. So, she would be like an orc and run at him head on, not dodging his arrows. If he missed, he he missed. It wouldn't be her doing.

Ahren - September 5, 2004 08:00 PM (GMT)
Ahren was surprised that she would ask him this question, a target that was running straight at you was probably the easiest one to hit. He quickly drew one of his few remaining arrows, and set it on the bow. He pulled the string back quickly, and released it. He didn't take a lot of time in aiming becuase she was coming right for him. The arrow flew forward and stuck out of her chest, if she could have died, she probably would have.

Ranewen - September 6, 2004 12:20 AM (GMT)
Ranewen was thrown backwards by the arrow as it entered her chest. She landed on her bottom on the ground. She plucked it out and shook her head. She smiled at Ahren and stood up to her full height and walked over to him. She extended her hand. "Good enough, i suppose. Now, try to hit the bull's eye." She step to the side and gave him access to the target without her in the way.

Ahren - September 10, 2004 01:49 AM (GMT)
Ahren took the arrow that he had just gotten back from Ranewen and took careful aim of the target. It seemed to him now that it was easier to get a feel for his bow and where the arrow owuld go. It jsut went to prove that practice did help. He pulled the bow back slowly, taking aim as he looked down the shaft of the arrow to the target. He released the arrow, and it sailed forward, to land with a small thud in the center of the target. Ahren smiled when he saw the arrow hit the target. He turned to look at Ranewen once again. "Thank you for your help, I am glad that I met you. It helped me out greatly."

Ranewen - September 10, 2004 10:39 AM (GMT)
Ranewen nodded her head and simled, before turning on her heal to walk away. she glanced back over her shoulder to look at the target, and when it landed in the center, she disappeared into the shadows, becoming invisible. "You're welcome..." She let her voce be carried with the wind to his ears, before she decided to leave altogether.
