Title: A very dry city
Lamya - August 28, 2004 05:54 AM (GMT)
Lamya stared in the direction of the city.-How do people survive this heat?- She thought. She trugded her way up the sand in the horrid heat. Her back was sweating and her cloak was dirty. Finally she reached the city. She checked to see how much money she had and walked into the only store she saw. She approached the dinning area and ordered a glass of water. The barmaid stared oddly at her and walked to get her glass. Lamya placed her cloak over her sword so she wouldn't attract attention. The barmaid finally came back out and Lamya gulped the water down. "Anything else miss?" The barmaid had a weird, dry tone. "Yea where's a place I can wash up." The woman looked her over and pointed towards the back. "There's a well out back but it's gonna cost you a gold coin for the water and two gold coins to wash up." Lamya stared at the girl. "Fine." She threw the coins onto the table and the barmaid's grubby hands immediately scooped them up. Lamya walked out back searching for the well.

-Sauntered along the dunes, which spread out over the desert. Blue hues shifted down to the footprints that imprinted the sands surace. A surge of air whirled past his form, kicking up sand into his eyes. Hands darted to his eyes, as his form came to a halt, only to rub frantically at his eyes, "Damnit!" Lowered his hands slightly from his eyes as the wind subsided, scattering beads of sand onto his frame. Eyelids fluttered trying to ward off the offending sand that plagued his eyes. Lowered his arms back to his sides, before sauntering forth again. The intense heat of the sun beat down upon his form only to bring slight discomfort to him. An image appeared, though slightly blurred from the intense heat which lifted from the hot sand beneath his form. The image had resembled a town, though not all too sure and far from able to confirm as such. He had known a lot about the planes, no less the distributions of rainfall and the conditions which plagued each plane. Though it hadn't taken a genius to know that there was little to no water held within the deserts, and shortages of water led to hallucinations, which could be what he was experiencing. Perhaps the image wasn't real afterall, then what? Would be he just continue his lengthy trek throughout the desert with no salvation from much needed resources such as water and food? Impossible he thought....It would be utter lunacy to continue on without those two much needed items. He hadn't had a lot of money, no less a place to carry things with, so buying supplies was near close to pointless. Nevertheless, he would have to find shelter soon, it had been getting close to the noon hours of the day, which were far worse than the current conditions, and there was no way a person would be able to continue on without water in such conditions. As he got closer to the once undecipherable image became clear and more real to him. Slowing to a a near stop as he had reached a well, slightly placed a few yards from a neighboring building. An apathetic expression crossed his countenance as a woman had began making her way out to the well.

Lamya paid no mind to the man as he approached the building to which she had come from. -Probably just another local.- She went up to the well and placed her cloak into it. The water was amazingly cold and refreshing to her dry hands. After scrubbing frantically at the cloak, she placed it on the side to allow it to dry. She scooped up a bowl of water into her hands and splashed her face. This simple action left her feeling refreshed. She sat on the edge of the well and stared up into the hazy sky. Sweat trickled down her face and dangled onto her blue lips. She licked them and found that her mouth was once again dry. Leaning over the well, she placed her hands in the soothing water and sipped it out of her hands. Her gaze turned to the man and she found her curiousity growing to an irratating extent. Finally she hopped off the well and grabbed her cloak. She walked over to the man and placed her hands upon her hips. "You are quite a sight sir. I am sure you need some water , feel free to drink as much as you want from the well. It cost 2 gold. I will be sure to give it to the owner considering I work here." She gave a pleasant smile while inside she chuckled.

-A quizzical expression crossed his countenance, as a brow quirked itself in question, "I'm quite the sight? Well.....That's nice to hear?" A slight chuckle emitted from the depths of his larynx, "Though you don't look so hot yourself.....Actually, I think we have the hot part down....Just we both look kind of gruff...." A bead of sweat trailed down along his jawline, drawing along to the end of his lower mandible before free falling to the ground. With a fizzle the droplet hit the dry sand only to boil away upon contact. Raked his right hand through white strands of hair, "I could really use a good cleaning it seems." A nervous laugh passed through his parted lips, as his right hand moved to the back of his head rubbing it slightly out of habit. Shifted his wings, their dull white feathered exterior becoming noticeable with the bright sun overhead. Sweat and sand had collected within the crevices of the feathers, which had caused the dull color of his wings. Flapping his wings a few times, causing a rush of wind to whirl around her body, before decipating within the heat sorrounding their entities, "Well, I could use a drink of water.....I'm not so worried about my appearance....Thanks for the offer though."

Lamya grunted under her breath. "Well sir, that will cost 3 gold coins. There isn't any water for a 100 miles in this desert so you might want to pay up." Lamya was getting annoyed quickly. -Why does everyone make this so difficult? Why couldn't they just hand the money over and be done with it?- Lamya plastered a smile on her face. " The water is sooo cold and refreshing. Your mouth will feel the pure esctasy of having your thirst quenched." -If that doesn't get him, what will? And what is this man anyways? He doesn't look...normal.- She walked back to the well and put her hands in it. She made a happy sound as if nothing cold be more pleasant than the feeling of the water dripping down her hands. She put the water up to her lips and lapped it up loudly. Water droplets made little pathways down her chin and dripped onto the cracked, dry earth. Then she splashed her face with water and walked back to the man. "It is quite refreshing..."

-Placed the thumb of his right hand upon his upper lip, slightly angling his hand downwards to hide his mouth from sight, as a few chuckles came from his parted lips, "I'm sure, that it is...And watching you is quite......Interesting to say the least. You seem to provide great entertainment....Though I should be fine without any water." White strangs of hair shifted slightly with the passing breeze. Lowered his right arm back to his side, before making his way towards a nearby canopy of a neighboring shop, finding salvation within the dark cloak that loamed over his entity, protecting it from the intense heat of the sun. Blue orbs shifted over to the woman's figure, studying her for a few moments, admiring the woman's slight appeal, "May I ask your name? And.....Something bothers me....It looks like the lands haven't seen water in ages.....So, how could well water still be present when it's been this unbearably hot? Wouldn't it have evaporated?" Coiling his arms around his torso, as he leaned back against the building, crossing his arms over his chest in the process, "Not like it really matters, but it is quite interesting...." Shifted his gaze down to the ground eyeing the cracks, jagged and random in their directions, direct signs of a possible drought in the region. Though the waters presence boggled his mind, how had it been possible?
(( Didn't mean to pin you like that, but you had said dry cracked earth....So, I'm going by what you put in your post, forgive me. Lol. -Scratches the back of his head nervously.- ))

Lamya stared at the man."Have you not heard of the magic, Create Water? That is the only way this place has water... it's all done by magic..." -This man isn't going to give in easily. Maybe he would make good company. It has been so long since I have actually had a normal conversation.- She looked the man over. She of course didn't trust him or believe he just happened to be out in the desert. -Maybe he has some deal going on. Hmm deals mean gold.- She grinned at the man. "How about you have a drink, no gold nessecary?" She knew if she could get this man to trust her, she could be around when he pulled out the gold. -I love me sometimes.- She felt completely deranged at that moment. And she loved it. "After you drink, maybe you could come inside and have a bite to eat, on me." It had been many a year since she had offered to pay for someone else. But she knew she would get that money back, and then some, if the man trusted her enough.

Stirred about in his sub-conscious, recollecting thoughts of past experiences, before drawing his attention up to her features. Shook his head slowly, as remained in his current position, "I'll pass......Thanks for the offer..." Shifted his gaze off to the side, staring at the horizon, watching blurred images smear across the distortion of the horizon, only created by the heat of the sun reflecting off from the sand. White strands of hair stirred ever so slightly with each passing breeze. It had been nice to be in the shade, since the sun bothered him to a slight extent. The shear heat of the sun almost drove him mad out in the desert, though he tried his best to keep all weaknesses hidden.
-How futile her attempts were, though she was conceited enough to beleive the simple geastures would win him over. To put it simply, he never had trusted strangers and wouldn't start here. How he despised first confrontations, no less knowing that treacherous beings such as his dear friend Garlin were lurking around the lands, waiting for a simple sucker to come along. With a simple shake of the head he blew off her last offer, "No thanks...I don't mean to be rude, I'm content with my current situation....Though.....Once again, thanks for the offer." Tilted his head to the side only to feel the cool rock of the building come in contact with the side of his head, closing his eyes slowly, enjoying the soothing feel of the cool brick of the building, "Alas....Days come and yet they go....And yet I remain......Here, upon this world with nowhere to go......But noble geastures don't buy me off so easily....Just a word of heed. I won't be played a fool again.....No longer shall I feel humiliation, nor anything for that matter...." A simple smug smirk danced across his slender lips, as his eyes fluttered open, darting to their immediate right intent with keeping his eyes upon her for time being. There were more to her than what she was letting on.....Why would someone be so courteous, so kind upon a first confrontation like this.....There was something wrong here and he wasn't willing to be played a fool.....
