Title: Newest Teacher
Description: All welcome
Felix7 - August 24, 2004 12:34 AM (GMT)
Felix7 walked into the academy, one hand on his sword hilt. This job would be interesting; a swordsman he had defeated had asked him to teach here. The paid amount was large enough to spike Felix's interest, so he had accepted. And now here he was. he gave a card to a page at the front, who's eyes widened and took him outdoors immediately. "S-sir Felix, this is your area." he showed his a regular sized practice or dueling court for swordpaly. "As your expertise is in swords, we decided you would teach specialized swordplay to the trainees or guests. The other instructors will teach more basic, and you will teach advanced weaponry." Felix nodded, the page scurrying off to his welcome duties.
Felix drew his blade with a flash. If he was to teach, he needed to warm up. For a good half hour the sword moved around him in a silver blur, no hole in his defense apparent. he stopped, the sword in a standard gaurd position, not breathing heavily at all. He laid the sword down on a practice rack next to his court. He then withdrew a wooden blade and stood there, practice sword held loosely at his side. He stood there motionless, waiting for someone to come to him.
Skorne - August 24, 2004 12:41 AM (GMT)
Skorne had been walking through the acadamy of arms when he saw Felix standing alone in the ring, swinging his sword almost to fast to be seen. It looked like a good challange, to face this person. He so longed for a good fight, it had been some time since he had fought anyone of real calibur. He decided to introduce himself to Felix, and challange him to a "friendly" spar.
Skorne was wearing his usual disguise that was composed of a black cloak that covered up his wings, and a veil that hid his eyes from a prying public. He knew that soon he would need to change his disguise. He had been to to many places and some people would prabably recognize him if they saw him today. However, for now that was pushed to the back of his mind as he strode over to the training arena.
"Hello friend, you seem to be extremely skilled with a blade. How would you like to engage me in a friendly spar? It is extremely hard to find anyone worth fighting these days, and from what I saw, this looks to be a promising fight if you accept my challange."
Felix7 - August 24, 2004 01:09 AM (GMT)
Felix nodded to the man and stepped into the ring, his own dark green cloak swirling around him. "Of course. It is my job to help those here in any way they see fit." He held the practice sword up at a sloppy lookign gaurd position; his defense seemed full of holes. "You may use any weapon you wish, except my own. Real or practice. This will be a test duel. Use whatever forse you deem necessary, but if you use magic I will be forced to harm you." He bowed to the man, then fell abck to the position, wooden sword held loosely at his side.
Skorne - August 24, 2004 01:18 AM (GMT)
Skorne nodded to the man, and pulled his sickle out of the back of his belt with his left hand. He got set to start the battle, noticing that the man's defense had several gaps in it. He almost laughed out loud at the thought that this man thought he could have him attack one of those holes. Skorne knew that the instant he attacked one of the gaps, it would no longer be there and he would be in trouble. He walked around, getting a good look at how Felix held himself, searching for any real weaknesses, taking his time. Skorne decided to test the man a little, get a feel for his fighting style. He lunged towards the man, swinging his sickle at Felix's left side, where there appeared to be a gap.
Felix7 - August 24, 2004 01:59 AM (GMT)
Felx gauged several things by that first sswing. The man was no beginner at comabt. He had left the more obvious holes alone and gone for a smaller one on his left. He's testing me the mercenary realized. he grinned. Two could play at that game, even if one was only using a wooden sword. He spun on the toes of his right foot, keeping the wooden sword low to the ground so the tip skidded a line through on the floor. The practice blade connected with the flat of the sickle, keeping it from being sliced in half. He continued the rotation, the hilts locking together, then thrust out with his right arm, bringing the blade and sickle along with him. With a deft twist he separated the hilts, then kicked at the man's side as he went by. "I thought they said my students would wield swords, not sickles..." He once again assumed his loose stance, sword still held at hsi right side.
Skorne - August 24, 2004 02:08 AM (GMT)
Skorne accepted the kick and almost laughed aloud at Felix's skill. Here was someone truly worth his time. He decided that a different tactic was necessary, and began to circle around, looking for an opening. He held his left hand out, planning on using as a kind of bumber should this man strike out with his wooden sword. Skorne swiftly swung his sickle at Felix's lower left side, but the sickle almost immedietly curved up to head towards his head.
Felix7 - August 25, 2004 12:53 AM (GMT)
Felix let himself fall back, placing one hand behind him. He fell on it, the sickles's blade passing less than an inch from his face. He barely flinched. This man was quite good, but he had a weapon that could slice Felix in half. Felix didn't have the same privledge. He flipped his feet in the air, still balancing on one arm, tapping the man's shin with the tip of the wooden sword before backflipping out of range. He landed easily, practice sword still held at his side. "Your defense is full of holes. If I had a real blade your foot might be gone. It almost appears as though you are used to fighting with two weapons." Felix shrugged. Two-sword style was an interestiong art, complex. He hadn't bothered to learn it, and didn't need to. "Please try to fix the holes or draw a second weapon."
((ooc: It might seem like I'm godmodding, but not really. That would leave a huge gap in your defense. And I am the teacher...^_^))
Skorne - August 25, 2004 01:15 AM (GMT)
Skorne stopped for a second, acutely aware that his fighting was somewhat lacking. "As it so happens, I trained in using two weapons, so that would be part of the reason for my lack of defense. Unfortunately, I cannot draw my second weapon, I was recently attacked, and it was lost in the ensueing fight." Skorne thought about how he could deal with this, in two weapon fighting, he had never needed to worry about defense much, for if he attacked with one weapon, the other would still be there to block. He decided that he might have to switch weapons somewhat. "If you don't mind, I think that I would like to try my luck with two practice swords."
Felix7 - August 25, 2004 01:27 AM (GMT)
Felix smiled. "You may use whatever you wish." He stepped to the weapons rack and pulled out a second weapon for himself as well; a small bamboo dagger. He grinned and held that backwards in his left hand, the right still holding the wooden sword loosely at his side. "I am here to instruct, no mor, no less. How you wish to learn is not my problem./ What you learn is."
Skorne - August 25, 2004 01:32 AM (GMT)
Skorne tucked the sickle back into his belt and walked over to the weapons rack. He picked up two wooden swords and tested their weight in his hands. They weighed about the same as his sickles, maybe a little heaver, but they would have to do. He returned to the circle and spun the blades around, preparing to fight once again. He nodded to Felix to show that he was ready, then crouched down and began to circle once again. It felt good to have two weapons once again, he would have to try and get another sickle as soon as he could. Skorne never took his eyes off of Felix, watching for a shift in body weight, or for the movement of muscles to tell him when he was going to do something.
Felix7 - August 25, 2004 01:42 AM (GMT)
Felix7 decided to make the first move this round. He kept up their circling for a while longer, then sprung forward. He kept low to the ground, one knee almost skinning itself in his lunge. He brought the practice sword up from beneath, towards the man's stomach, holding the small bamboo dagger over his own head. He was testing the man's ability with double blades, to see where he needed the most work.
Skorne - August 25, 2004 01:46 AM (GMT)
Skorne quickly reacted in a very improvised way. He swung his right foot back to brace himself so that he wouldn't be knocked back, and ended with his left shoulder closer to Felix. He shoved his left sword down to block the sword coming from beneath. He also brought his right blade up to lock hilts with the dagger, hoping to stop both attacks. He used his strength to hold brace himself and stay upright, thinking that this might put Felix off balance.
Felix7 - August 25, 2004 01:56 AM (GMT)
felix grinned coldly. "Creative. Good." He locked the hilt of his sword with Skorne's left one, and the dagger was already locked in. "But I don't teach by the book." He flipped back, feet whipping around as his arms twisted to their limits. His feet landed on the locked blade of the practice sword and dagger, his weight pushing them both to the ground. With a deft twist, he disengaged both of his weapons, still standing on one of Skorne's blades with both feet. he now had two weapons, and his enemy only one available. He kept the dagger out to the left to block Skrone's free sword and brought his own wooden blade towards the man's forehead, planning on giving him a light tap.
Skorne - August 25, 2004 02:04 AM (GMT)
Skorne released his grip on the pinned sword and brought his right hand up and stuck out at the flat side of Felix's blade to attempt and deflect it, he also swung out with his left to force Felix off of the other practice sword. He used his momentum to spin around and kick out with his right foot in an attempt to make Felix back of some. He hoped that it worked the way he needed it to. "Thanks, but I didn't learn by the book."
Felix7 - August 25, 2004 02:15 AM (GMT)
Felix brought his dagger back quickly, Skrone forcing it away giving it more momentum. He managed to deflect the kick with the flat of the dagger, but the kick's force still made him skid back a couple of feet. He regained balance quickly, holding the dagger and practice sword crossed at the hilt. "I can tell. You're quite original. Just make sure to keep your swords free. Punching a sharp blade would be a bad thing, and you'd be caught still. But now pick up your sword." He relaxed slightly, waiting for the man to do so and make the next move.
Skorne - August 25, 2004 02:26 AM (GMT)
Skorne picked up his sword without taking his eyes off of Felix. He wouldn't have been surprised if Felix attacked him and then told him to always keep his eyes on the opponent. He spun the swords around some, weaving a complex pattern in the air. He decided to step things up a bit, now that he was nice and armed up, it would be interesting to see what Felix could relaly do. Skorne rushed forward, swinging his right sword diagonally from his bottom right to the top left, wondering how Felix would cope with this.
Felix7 - August 25, 2004 08:28 PM (GMT)
Felix simply blocked with the dagger in his left hand. He twirled on the ball of his right foot, so his left arm was fully extended, holding the sword in place. he was also right up against Skorne, inside his gaurd. "You're skilled; I'm curious. What do you think the most important thing in a swordfight it?" He brought the hilt of his sword up in a blur, towards Skorne's chin. yet it was still in a position to block the man's other sword if he tried to attack. "I'll tell you after you tell me."
Skorne - August 26, 2004 11:35 PM (GMT)
Skorne saw the hilt coming up to hi8s chin and quickly jerked his head back. He then thrust out with his left hand, hoping to knock Felix away. Unfortunately, when he had tried to avoid Felix's attack, it had thrown the hood of his cloak back, partially reveiling his head. He quickly reached up and pulled it back down before any bystanders could see. "What do I think is the most important part of a swordfight? I would have to say that it is important to never give up, no matter what the odds." Skorne couldn't really care less what the man thought was important about swordfighting, but he would humer him
Felix7 - August 27, 2004 09:52 PM (GMT)
Felix showed no visible expression when he saw the man's face. "Really? I think the winner is just the one who's faster..." He spun away, flicking the blade in three times as he did so. When he was out of range he threw the small practice dagger also, then grabbed his sword's hilt with two hands, lunging back in.
