Guinevere had her composite Longbow out, and was practicing with it from 100 paces from the target. She didn't use her precise shot feat, prefering to learn her own way. She aims, then fires. The arrow hits dead center. She fires another and it splits the first arrow. She had alot of practice.

From a few feet behind a man fired at the same target and missed the middle by only a few inches. He walked up behind her and said "You are an excellent archer. I have not seen skills like that in a long time. My name is Verling, I am the Weapon's Master here. May I ask who you are?" As he waited for a reply he fired another arrow, once again missing the center by only a few inches.

She fires another arrow, splitting the second one."Guinevere, nice to meet you."She puts the bow down and turns to him.

Verling fired one more shot, once again missing the center by only a few inches. He turned to her and said "It is good to meet you. Where did you learn to use a bow like that? It is excellent marksmanship." As he waited for a reply he looked at her wondering how she had ended up in Talas.

"Long years of practice."She said, studying him.

Verling shot another arrow at the target, this time missing by less than an inch. He turned back to her and said "It is good to have you around here. As I said before I haven't seen anyone with that skill in a while. I am sure the students here could learn a thing or two from you." As he looked around he could see that a few students had come into the range and where now waching them.

She shakes her head."I'm no teacher."She walks another 10 paces from the target, then quickly fires three arrows. the first hits the center, the second splits the first, and the third splits the second.

Verling walked back with her and fired another arrow. It hit dead center splitting Guinevere's arrow in half. "Well that is a first." He said a little surpprised. He then looked to her and said "You seem to be a devoted archer. What made you what to be an archer? You could have been a scorcerer a soldier, or even a knight, but you chose archery intead. It takes a lot of practice to be as good as you are. You must realy love archery."

"It was, it is, a part of me. Of my people. We could use swords if needed, but we were feared for our longbows, not our swords."She walks another 10 paces and splits Verlings arrow yet again.

Verling walked beside her yet again and said "I see. It is good to know that there are people skilled in archery here on Imythess." He shot another arrow and it missed the center by 12 inches. "That one was realy bad wasn't it?" he said mostly to himself. Then turning to Guinevere he said "There are times that a sword is more needed than a bow, and there are times when a sword can do nothing. I have abused my archery so I am not that good. I have begun to practice more often though."

"I suppose I could teach it. But I don't want pay, just as something to do."

"Thank you so much" Verling replied. "But you don't have to if you don't want to. I was just talking to myself when I said that. As for pay, if you realy don't want't any then I guess that can't be helped. Do you realy want to teach?"

"Sure, why not. I can be your assisstant teacher or something."

Verling looked at her for a few seconds then said "Well then it's settled." Then turning to the people now waching he said "So who would like to learn to shoot like that?" Imediatly 10 people walked up asking how much it costed and where astonished when they found out it was free. A few said to him "I can't believe this is free! I will definantly take the class." Verling looked to Guinevere and said "See you already have ten students. I am sure you will have fun."

"Great. Maybe I will charge eventually, but not now. If what I've been hearing is correct, war is coming. We need more archers."(u gonna control students for now plz?)She walks up to one student, the only girl."What is your name?"

The student was a little shocked that she had been chosen out of all the other people and said in a quiet and sweet voice "My name is Angel......Angel Patterson. Could you help me learn to defend my friends?" The young girl was obvioulsy not the fighting type but she seemed to have an unrivaled urge to want to defend her friends. She seemed very serious although a bit intimidated.

She nods."How old are you, Angel?"

She was still a bit shy when answering but said "I am seventeen years of age. Am I to youg?"

"No, no one is too young. I myself started learning the bow when I was 3 years old. What kind of bow do you normally use?"

She was happy to hear this and was no longer shy in the littlest bit. Angel looked at her and said happily "I usualy use a short bow that my father made for me, but it broke a few day's ago when I was attacked by a bear." She was happy she would finaly get to learn how to properly use a bow. She was had forgotten about the other students around her and was eagerly awaiting her teacher's reply.

She hands the girl her longbow and an arrow."Now, try to fire the bow."(longbows, especially british ones, are hard to pull back all the way, but they have great range.)

Angel pulled back on the string but was only able to get it about a qourter of the way she wanted it to be. The arrow flew at a surrprising distance and fell a few feet in front of the taget. A few feet a way the other studen't could be heard laughing quietly. The girl ignored there remarks and asked "How did I do?"

"Good."She looks at the other students."You there"She points to a boy."You try"(hes supposed to do bad as an example, but u can do what u want.)

The boy walked up smiling and took the bow out of Angels hands then shot the arrow pretending it was nothing. The arrow flew forward and landed only a few inches away from him. He then tried again being careful to aim the bow but the arrow landed in the same place. It was so pathetic the other student's did not even bother trying to hide thier laghter, they just laughed out some falling to the ground with amusement.

She whistled sharply."The point is, some people are better than others, but anyone can learn with practice.I will have no prejudice in my class. If you plan on making fun of others, dont waste my time and just leave now."

All the students immediatly straitened up after hearing this and became quiet and serious. After a few seconds of silence on of the more serious students said "So what are we gonna learn first?"

"Well, how to draw the bowstring all the way to your cheek, which needs strong arms. That's the first thing we learned back home, and I was the best of the best. The only weapons we will use are longbows, at least for now. So, go get some longbows from the schools armory."When they are gone to get them she says to Verling."How do you think they will do?"

Verling looked to her and said "From the look in there eyes I would say that most of them have never enven used a bow before, however as long as they are determined to learn, and have a reason to do so I think they will all do just fine." He then looked to the direction where the students had gone and said "I only hope they can grow stronger quickly, before a war starts.

"Do you want me to run them hard?"

Verling smiled then said "No.......pushing them to hard will do more harm than good. Train them the way you where tought. That seems best to me." Just as he said this the students where beginning to return.

She just nods and waits for the rest.

As soon as they where all there they held out there bow's and about fifteen arrows each and said "Is this what you wanted us to get?"

She nods."Yes, later you'll make your own. First I want each of you to try once to hit the center of the target, only one try."

All of the students, with the exception of three missed the target completly. The other three where able to hit the target but only on the end.

Angel had been one."Good job."She whispers to the girl."Good job everyone, now move one pace back and attempt again."

As they stepped back and tried again only two where able to hit the target. Angel was one, and another boy who seemed more serious than the others.

"Good. Pace back!"

They once again steped back and fired. The boy hit the target a bit closer than before and the angel shot her arrow through his.

"Pace back!"

The students did as they where told and this time they both missed the target. They turned to her and said "So what now?"
