Title: Training for lack of a better thing to do

Lyrka - July 27, 2004 07:45 PM (GMT)
Well so far it seemed that there wasn’t anyone who wanted her training. That was okay, she didn’t really mind, she’d just teach herself. Okay, so it sounded a little odd to say that, teaching herself. She snorted, a humorless one but still a snort, and spun on her heel with a downward slash from her long sword. Practicing was a better word for it, yes, she was practicing and bettering her abilities. She brought the sword up with a swift uppercut and then smoothly jabbed it forward as though straight into an enemy’s chest.
With her wings still pinned tightly to her back she whipped around with her sword up as though to face a second charging enemy. She didn’t necessarily need her wings at the moment but she wasn’t about to waste any energy casting a spell to pull them back in. She parried an attack from her imaginary enemy then swung the sword for the general area of where the neck would be. I need to be faster, I’m moving to slow. A slight shift of her holding on the hilt was all that announced her next move as she stopped the strike midair, changing it, and then lunging forward as though to catch her blade on an enemy’s unguarded stomach. She jumped back then, as though the enemy had seen her plan and had tried to bring it’s sword down on her unprotected back and head.

She slowed to a halt, her sword held up in front of her as she panted lightly. Her silver eyes reflected some of the light as she glanced up at the sun. It was noon and she’d started earlier in the morning. I probably wouldn’t be this hot had I worn something lighter, she decided as she cast a glance down over her clothes; loose and comfortable leather pants that tucked into her boots and a sleeveless leather shirt, its back made low to allow for her wings.
“It’s better than fighting in armor while it’s burning hot outside.” She stated aloud to the air before she started her attacking and blocking anew.

“Pushing yourself to your limits wont help you forget, nor will getting drunk.” She looked out at her friend where she practiced on the grass. She’d heard about the little ‘drinking episode’ Lyrka had had in the Elfsong tavern.
“You need to move on,” she added as she brushed back a few strands of hair, pushing them out of the way so that her green-hazel gaze was clear. Maybe leaving her hair down hadn’t been the best of ideas but that was alright, should it get in her way any more she’d put it up.
“You know it isn’t your fault, deep down inside you do but you wont accept it.. Why?”

Lyrka - July 30, 2004 07:00 PM (GMT)
“Because that voice is lying to me Mira.” She slowed her paces and lowered her sword, turning so she could see the other where she rested on one of the benches. “The voice that tells me it isn’t my fault is lying to me,” she looked down at the grass before bringing her gaze back up so that silver met green-hazel. “I wont believe and live a lie.”
She looked away from the worried eyes of her friend, returning instead to her practice of swordsmanship. The blade of her long sword whistled through the air as she brought it down in a chopping motion and then to the side. “And besides, I wasn’t drunk... I didn’t fall unconscious, I wasn’t acting like the fools there and I could walk on my own feet as I left.”

“Do you really believe that Ly?” Mira finally questioned after a short silence, her head tilted to one side. “Tell me honestly now, do you honestly believe that the voice is lying to you and that it's your fault?”
Her eyes had narrowed a mite bit, as she watched her, calculating what she might say and do next. Mira shifted to get up and approach her, thought better of it and settled back down. It wouldn’t be all that wise for her to approach her friend in the state she was in, especially considering she held a weapon.

“Really Ly?” She forced a humored tone into her voice, “You could leave on your own? That isn’t what I heard... But I doubt you want to hear about that, just as I doubt you want to tell me what happened. So I’ll be a good friend and I won’t pry.. Instead I’ll just change the subject; why are you using a sword of chaos?”

Lyrka - November 4, 2004 05:19 AM (GMT)
She took a step to the left, parrying a blow from one of her imaginary attackers before swinging around on her heel with a low thrust. Even as she concentrated on her practice and made an attempt to converse with the katori.
“And I appreciate the change but I wonder now, why did you pick this new topic?” She paused to lunged forward with an upper cut before slicing the sword back down.
“Is it because I’m lawful neutral? You think it wrong for someone who is lawful to carry a blade forged of chaos?” She chuckled then, a humorless thing that contained a bit of irony. “I hate to burst your bubble Mira, but even in Chaos there is order… One must learn how to look for it and then one will find it.”
“Now tell me, as we move onto yet another new topic… Has anyone caught your fancy as of late my friend? Any dashing warrior to catch your eye?”

Mirazhe - November 24, 2004 01:53 AM (GMT)
She’s opened her mouth, about to answer a previous question, when Lyrka had changed the subject yet again. What an interesting conversation this was turning out to be.
And then she’d heard the question and her cheeks turned a lovely shade of red.
“C-c-caught my eye?” She stuttered looking, for the moment, fairly embarrassed before she sighed and she shrugged. What would it hurt? Lyrka was one of her closest friends, and Mira just knew she’d never tell anyone else… Not that it would matter anyway.

“I fear not my friend, my heart remains empty and alone..” She sighed again, a soft breath out into an uncaring world and she ran a hand through her hair. “…As I think it will remain. After all, who would want someone such as myself when they can have someone so much better? Prettier and smarter, there are so many girls that those ‘dashing warriors’ would rather be with… Who has time for the odd katori girl?”

Lyrka - November 24, 2004 04:49 AM (GMT)
Lyrka instantly spun about on her heel, the point of her blade resting on the grass. Her eyes were wide and she looked rather surprised; it was one of the first times emotion had shown on her face and even then, she’d only present herself like that among friends.
“Mira!” She’d gasped, shaking her head. “Don’t say such things! You are so much better than those other girls, I couldn’t being to understand why you have no one fawning over you.”

She sighed as well, before managing a small smile in Mirazhe’s direction. “And anyway Mira, We’re so much better than the rest of them! You know it’s not that you’re not pretty or smart because you’re very smart and pretty… You just haven’t found the right guy.”
