Title: One of the New Teachers

Lyrka - July 24, 2004 02:08 AM (GMT)
Lyrka slowly made her way into the arena, her glaive held loosely in her right hand, a backpack in her left. When she got to the middle she stopped and carefully placed the pack on the grass, trying not to wake the pack’s occupant. The large pseudo dragon resting on her shoulders slid off and fluttered to the ground before Lyrka turned to look around her with luminous, silver eyes. She doubted anyone would want her as a teacher, she didn’t really look the part other than her glaive and the long sword strapped to her hip. She was only 5’6 and she looked somewhat fragile, with pale skin and delicate features. She had used magic to bring her wings in so that they wouldn’t hinder her.

“Well Corvin,” she directed her speech down at the adult pseudo dragon resting beside the pack. “Think anyone will show?”

Kore Takamura - July 24, 2004 03:59 AM (GMT)
*Looking around the Arena that was obviously new to him. Everywhere he turned, he noticed something new to him, but old to everyone else. Glancing around he saw a woman that looked like Lyrka. Raising an eyebrow, he seemed to want to know more about her.* Maybe you should swoon her with your "ever-so-manly-charm," eh Kore? Oh 'Alia shush, I don't want you to provoke Entem to do anything, or wake up Lilith, she's been resting soundly for a while....but I don't know for how much longer. *Just out of interest to see why she was there, he walked slowly to where she laid her pack down and laid his next to hers, along with his cloak, revealing the Demon Claws dangling from his belt. Kilgorin, his blade, resting on the opposite side, and his two-handed sword loomed from his back. Smiling he called her out.* Lyrka? Is that you? What brings you here? If you want, I'm a teacher here now, so I'm certified to give you lessons in the art of weapons shall you accept my offer.

Lyrka - July 24, 2004 04:33 AM (GMT)
Thinking she heard something she turned and spotted Kore as he approached, she presented him with a bright smile and a little wave. “Its good to see you again Kore. You’re a teacher?” She asked, her smile growing a little. “So am I, as odd as that might be. I guess that means I’ll be seeing more of you.” She smiled again, lightly leaning against her glaive as she looked up at him.

Her pseudo dragon’s attention had been focused on Ly’s pack but when Kore approached he looked up, his sapphire eyes glittering with curiosity. He hadn’t noticed the pixie yet which was probably a good thing or he’d be after her to get her to play with him, shouting in everyone’s minds. And that’d just wake up Aerona, which Lyrka didn’t want. The hatchling had only just gone to sleep earlier before they’d come to the academy.

Kore Takamura - July 30, 2004 05:47 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I'm a teacher, and Penalia's my assistant. That's right I would tell you why they didn't refuse her as help...but obviously something happened with a family tree being chopped down at the source... But its nice to see that you're a teacher as well. Maybe a demonstration of our skill is in order, that is of course, if you want to. *he was looking into her eyes at this point, then they drifted over to a rack of kendo sticks at the entrance to the arena. He whistled to summon his wisp. Entem floated across the arena to the rack and grabbed two sticks, then floated back to where the two stood. Dropping them to the floor between them, it then backed away and watched what they were to do.* Seeing more of eachother is a great thing, so is learning from one another, eh? Alright, alright, I can see a hint when I see one, oh and Kore, don't mess it up

Lyrka - July 30, 2004 07:18 PM (GMT)
She smiled and nodded, “A demonstration would be just fine Kore.” She walked back to where her pack had rested and placed her glaive beside it and Corvin. “Watch over Aerona for me love,” she told her pseudo dragon before returning to Kore. She bent down and retrieved one of the kendo sticks.

ooc: *pokes* Forgive me for my ignorance, but what’s a kendo stick? And sorry for the short post, I cant think of anything

Kore Takamura - August 2, 2004 02:40 AM (GMT)
((ooc: A Kendo Stick you hold it with one or two hands. Its made of bamboo and if you hit someone with it, it stings a whole lot.))

*He bent over and smiled at Entem. He reached out and petted the top of it lightly, then reached further down for his kendo stick. Grasping it, he rose then smiled as he positioned his feet and distributed his weight as he entered his fighting stance. He held the stick with one hand as the hand behind him lifted up a bit and motioned for her attack* This will be fun. I'll hold back if you want, but if you don't, believe me--I won't. *His pets--except for Lilith, sat a good distance from them. Penalia looked to Entem* I put half my meal on the girl, how 'bout them odds, creampuff? *Entem made a jingle that seemed a little mad and put half of his meal on Kore.* Heh, I knew you were a sucker for him. *Entem then turned red, taking the image of an evil kamahl, with more massive muscles. He snorted and sneered, then started chasing Penalia around the back* It was joke Entem!

Lyrka - August 4, 2004 04:25 PM (GMT)
“I’ve never used one of these before,” she admitted with a small sheepish smile. She shifted her weight and, using both hands in place of one, took up a fighting stance too. “So if I mess up with something, you’re more than welcome to tell me.” She smiled again, learning how to use something new always interested her. “And it is like a glaive... Sort of.” So saying, her balance shifted and then she moved forward to attack him.
Corvin’s attention was drawn away from watching Lyrka and Kore, his sapphire gaze turning towards where Entem was chasing Penalia. ‘Pixie!’ With the dragonish semblance of a grin, he was off the ground and flying low after the wisp and pixie. For the moment, the sleeping hatchling in the pack he was supposed to be watching was forgotten
.

ooc- mmk, thanks. ^^ As I’m still not entirely sure about this, I don’t have the slightest clue as to how she would attack with it *coughs*

Kore Takamura - August 7, 2004 04:21 AM (GMT)
*Her sheepish smile brought a bright grin to his face and he emitted a small chuckle.*Hey, if you mess up, which I doubt you will, I'll make sure you're aware of it.*He watched her every move as she went for the attack.--okay, she began with that leg, so....I....move to the right-- He spun slowly to the right, barely dodging her attack. He was glad to finally have fun. While he was at her side, he brought the kendo stick down softly to her thigh.* Heh, gotcha. A tip to you, when you initially attack, don't use a lot of footwork. If you must attack first, have it balanced, and more of a slow approach. Always watch your opponents movements. Its not possible to read someone perfectly, thats why you must be able to counterattack. And being quick is also an advantage. Now lets go again.*He smiled as he hoped that her next attack would be a suprise, keep him on his toes.--She has the speed, but all she has to do is utilize it.-- He then looked her up and down, his attention thrown off--She sure is cute though...--*

*Entem chased around Penalia for awhile untill Penalia noticed Corvin flowing towards her* Ahhhh!! Corvin!! *She flew towards Corvin as fast as she could, Entem trailing behind her. Then as she was close to him, she darted left, went straight, then darted right, Entem((in the form of Kamahl)) was barrelling towards Corvin at a good speed*
((ooc: treat it like a short sword or a katana ^_^))

Lyrka - August 8, 2004 01:05 AM (GMT)
((ooc: mmk, thanks again ^^))

She laughed softly as the kendo stick touched her thigh and she looked over at him, smiling. “Okay, got it. Less footwork, have balance, slow approach and watch the opponent’s movements,” she repeated to make sure she’d gotten it and to help her remember it. She paused, still gripping her own kendo stick as she thought ahead. Hmm, he said being quick was an advantage. She glanced over at him and noticed he didn’t seem to have his told attention on it. She chuckled inwardly before swinging the stick around, aiming for his side.
Corvin yelped and tried to fly straight upwards. ‘Ahhh! Lyrka! Momma! Save me!’
Corvin’s sudden cry caught Lyrka off guard and she accidentally dropped her kendo stick as she swung around to see what was happening. She took in what was happening and nearly groaned at the sight.

Kore Takamura - August 13, 2004 06:53 AM (GMT)
*He smiled as she took in the information that he gave her and repeated it, obviously not taking wat he told her for granted. His attention was still off a bit, but then the cry of Corvin snapped his attention back to the session. With a small laugh, he leaped after her.*

((take the hit, trust me I'm going somewhere with this, and the he's only doing it lightly, not to hurt))

Lyrka - August 28, 2004 03:30 AM (GMT)
Lyrka watched as Corvin and Entem collided and Corvin—he being the lighter of the two—was knocked back. He hit the ground rolling and when he finally stopped, he sat up and looked around him dizzily.
Hearing Kore’s laugh, Lyrka glanced over and cast him a smile before moving over to the pseudo dragon and crouching down. “You should be more careful Hon and not go chasing after things.” She shook her head at the thought, the movement sending her braid thumping. Gods, it really gets in the way sometimes... Maybe I should just cut it? “Haven’t you ever heard the saying curiosity killed the cat?”

Kore Takamura - August 28, 2004 03:48 AM (GMT)
*Missing his tackle, he smiled and looked at her, wiping the dirt off of his face. Slowly, he crept from behind her and placed the sword on the ground. He saw Corvin, and he looked okay, but the two of them were still training, so he was going to continue with the training. He extended his arms outward somewhat, streching his fingers. He then knelt down, and weaved his arms under hers, He hands moved upwards, curling around her arms, then locked behind her head((thats a full nelson, a submission move.)). He chuckled and said softly as his face was next to hers* The next rule is never to let your guard down and always keep your eyes on your opponent.

Lyrka - August 28, 2004 04:05 AM (GMT)
‘But I’m not a cat,’ whined Corvin, oblivious to what had just happened to Lyrka.
She had stiffened in his grip at first but then reminded herself that he wasn’t an enemy, just a training partner. “I apologize then teacher,” she replied with a soft laugh. “That’s one of the reasons I normally don’t take Corvin anywhere where it might be necessary to fight. He can be very... distracting.” She ignored the pseudodragon’s loud ‘hmph’.
“Never let your guard down and always keep your eyes on your opponent,” she then repeated as she had with the other set of directions earlier. “Oh and by the way Kore, I give. Can we go again?” Had she been able to turn her head she probably would’ve given him a hopeful look.

Kore Takamura - August 28, 2004 05:00 AM (GMT)
*As he held her there, he squeezed a little on the hold playfully, then realeased his grip and pulled his hands from around her. He then backed off and grabbed both Kendo sticks. He tossed one over to Lyrka and held the other one in his hands.* I'm sure since if you're learning how to fight, and speed is one of your advantages...you're going to learn how to dodge spells. Are you ready? Or do you want to continue with melee training?

Lyrka - August 28, 2004 05:16 AM (GMT)
She suppressed a laugh and stood, the kendo stick held loosely in her right hand. “Corvin why don’t you try to stay out of trouble while I’m with Kore.” Her gaze followed after the dragon as he flew over to their packs and sat, he grumbling all the way. She shook her head, once more sending her braid bouncing around her shoulders before turning back to Kore.
“Ready as I’ll ever be,” she replied with a grin though she was watching him closely now; waiting for the attack she assumed to be coming.
