Title: The Pirates Pub

Lady Renate Villerius - June 11, 2004 08:18 PM (GMT)
Renate walked into the Pirates Pub and sat down at the bar. The pub was filled with stinky, old pirates. Smoke filled the room. The barman stared at Renate and big, golden teeth appeared when his lips opened to form a horrific smile.

'Can I help you, madam?' he asked, polite.

'Don't call me madam, I am a pirate,' Renate said, grabbing the man's collar. He nodded in fear.

'Of course, Captain,' he corrected himself. 'Can I be of service?' he offered.

'Yes, I would like a whisky,' Renate said, turning around and leaning backwards with her ellbows on top of the bar.

She scanned the room for interesting company. She then noticed a man, a loner, that sat in a corner. He didn't seem interested in the people next to him. He was reading a book. Renate thought he was fascinating and she liked the mysterious aura that surrounded him.

Lyrka - June 11, 2004 10:40 PM (GMT)
(hope you don't mind me joining you ^^; )

Only a few minutes after Renate had entered, the door opened again. Lyrka paused in the doorway for a moment before continuing in, wondering why she had bothered to come back here. Her large, luminous silver eyes took in all the dirty old pirates sitting around the pub. And they stared right back at her, their talk dying down but only for a moment before it picked back up. Of course, she could hear them whispering about her, could see their glances sent her way as she moved to the bar. ‘Its songbird,’ she heard one man whisper. ‘Can’t be, the old hag passed away 16 years ago,’ another replied. As she paused at the bar, she looked over at them with both her eyebrows raised. “Old hag? Funny... I don’t think I’m that old.” She said aloud as she ruffled her silvery wings, her eyes narrowed. The man's eyes widened as he shook his head vigorously. She turned back around to face the barman, ignoring the others around her for the time being.

‘Songbird?’ The barman asked, eyeing her thoughtfully, his mind quickly calculating.

She gave him a slight incline of her head before she ordered. “Red Wine.. You still have the kind I like, I would think.” She added this as she watched him.

‘Course Songbird,’ he replied nodding hurriedly. ‘I saved a bottle or two incase you decided to come back.’

She watched as he moved off to get her drink and take others’ orders. She didn’t bother to look around her, to see who was here. It was most likely the same people, if not the same type of people from when she had been here last.. Exactly 16 years ago. In fact, she had come here the day before she died... In her last life of course. It wasn’t that surprising that a number of the people here knew who she was, or thought that it was her at least. That was one of the upsides of coming back with the same appearance every time.

Lady Renate Villerius - June 12, 2004 08:58 AM (GMT)
(No, I don't mind)

Renate was enjoying her drink when a stranger entered the pub. Renate looked up and thought the girl looked strangely familiar. She thought about that for a while. Who was she? How come she knew her? Renate was new to the pirate business. She had only been at sea for a year. Before that, she was a nice, dutiful daughter. And still, she knew the girl that sat next to her.

'Songbird?' Renate heard someone whisper. She smiled. Of course. That's who she was. But Songbird had died. Was she her daughter? Renate examined the girl closely. No, it wasn't her daughter. It was Songbird reincarnated.

Lyrka - June 12, 2004 08:36 PM (GMT)
As she sipped from her glass she finally let her gaze roam over the occupants of the pub. One or two of the older pirates she knew, the others must have been new from the past number of years. When the few she knew looked up to meet her gaze, she nodded and had they not been watching her for it, they wouldn’t have seen the slight inclination of her head. She looked over at those beside her and caught sight of Renate.

Her lips quirked upwards in a faint smile. “Surprise, surprise, there is actually someone here that seems to have some sense.” When she noticed the annoyed and mean looks she got at that statement, she chuckled.

Lady Renate Villerius - June 13, 2004 09:17 AM (GMT)
Renate smiled when she heard that commend.

'I know what you mean. These old pirates are rather silly. Thinking isn't their favourite occupation,' Renate teased and mean looks from her fellow pirates followed.

'You are Silverbird reincarnated, aren't you?' Renate continued, ignoring the old pirates, who started gossiping about her.

'I recognized you immediately. Yet I knew you couldn't be her. You're still very young. Are you one of those people that live with the same appearance for eternity? Sometimes a soul can get very attached to a certain body. Apparantly, your soul is attached to yours,' Renate remarked, thinking out loud.

Lyrka - June 13, 2004 02:33 PM (GMT)
She chuckled again, nodding. "Yup, I'm Songbird... You are?"

She nodded as she listened to what the other had to say. "I suppose that's somewhat true, I always have this form though I do grow old. And because of my race, I'm reborn every hundred years." She let her gaze swept the area around them, giving the pirates a sweet smile. "Hear that? If I ever decide I want revenge for something you did, I can take it out on any generation of your blood." She looked back to Renate, not even bothering to see the pirate's reaction to her statement.

Lady Renate Villerius - June 13, 2004 04:31 PM (GMT)
'I am Renate Villerius. I'm an elven pirate. I've heard about you and I've seen you before. That's why I knew who you were. You're pretty well-known around here,' Renate said.
'So, what are you here for? Do you have any plans?'

Lyrka - June 15, 2004 01:25 AM (GMT)
"Its a pleasure Renate," replied Lyrka with a nod. "Elven? You're one of the first for Imythess then, I think.. I could be wrong though," she added with a soft chuckle. "Being gone for 16 years will do that to you."

"Plans?" She paused thinking for a moment before she shrugged. "Nothing really, I just decided to come and see if everything was the same."

Lady Renate Villerius - June 15, 2004 10:02 AM (GMT)
'I guess most elves are into archery and things like that. But I'm a pirate, yes. I'm also an archer, though. I just prefer being a pirate,' Renate said, smiling. 'I'm sure the people here haven't changed much. Their offspring go here now. It's probably a family tradition to be a regular of this pub for some families,' Renate joked. The pirates gave her annoyed looks. Pirates didn't have much of a sense of humour.

Lyrka - June 20, 2004 12:05 AM (GMT)
“Don’t look so sour,” She said loud, loud enough that it was obvious she was talking to the other occupants of the pub. “Your face might decide to stick that way… But then, it couldn’t possibly be worse than they already are.” She gave them all a sweet little smile before looking back at Renate.

“I don’t see why some people only pick one profession. I always thought it better to have a variety.. That way if you lose one profession, you still have another.”

Lady Renate Villerius - June 20, 2004 12:38 AM (GMT)
Renate smiled. 'You're right. That's why I'm not a warden. I've quit piracy. I'm bored with it. I'll consentrate on my job and on my fighting skills. That way I can always be an archer or a fencer when I've gotten rid of all thieves and monsters in the forests,' she said, grinning.

Lyrka - June 20, 2004 12:46 AM (GMT)
Lyrka nodded, finished off her glass of wine with a last gulp then looked at Renate curiously. "What all do you have to do as warden?" She asked curiously.

"And if you ever decide you want some company in the forest, one of my friends has her house there. Mirazhe would probably also be more than happy to have you for lunch, I'm sure." She nodded in agreement with what she had said then let her head tilt to one side. "But I would also warn you to not disrupt her hunt."

Lady Renate Villerius - June 20, 2004 12:50 AM (GMT)
Renate blushed. 'Actually it is my job to make sure the hunting stops. I also make sure that thieves and monsters get caught. I work in the forest. Right now, I'm concentrating on poaching. Poaching is illegal, you know? And I've already got my eye on your friend. I'll give her a warning for now. But if she won't stop, I'll have to punish her. She's breaking the law. If she'll find another way of life, I'd gladly be friends with her, though,' Renate said. She hoped she hadn't offended Lyrka. She was just doing her job.

Lyrka - June 20, 2004 01:00 AM (GMT)
Lyrka shrugged, not really bothered by it and most definitly not offended by it. "I understand... Well," she added with a soft laugh, "not really. Mira would get warned for feeding herself and her family?" Her head tilted to oneside as she watched Renate curiously.

"Isn't poaching just killing the animals and leaving them? Mira uses most of the meat for food and then the skins for clothes. Everything else she gives to the scavengers. It's the nature of a katori to hunt. And sorry if this bothers you," she added, "I just don't really understand.?"

Lady Renate Villerius - June 20, 2004 01:04 AM (GMT)
'Well, I just got this job today, so all I know is that she hunts. I don't just give people warnings, if that's what you think. I just make sure no one kills animals for fun. If your friend only feeds her family, it's fine by me. I'm just paying attention that's all. So far, I haven't seen anything suspicious. It's pretty quiet in the forest right now. That's good. This way I can get used to my new job.'

Lyrka - June 20, 2004 01:14 AM (GMT)
"I know," Lyrka said with a nod. "And actually, I think this is only the second time Mira has actually hunted in the forest. Normally, I think, she hunts with the lion pride that runs on the plains. Mind you though," she added, "I think. I'm not sure.. But you don't have to worry about her hunting for fun, it isn't her way especially since she's a healer."

She caught the bartenders gaze and ordered another second glass of wine. Once she had gotten it and taken a sip she looked back at Renate and smiled. "Just in case you might want to make her aware of it. But still, I would suggest you don't bother her in the middle of a hunt. Afterward she's done with it, that's normally the time to talk to her."

Lady Renate Villerius - June 20, 2004 09:34 AM (GMT)
'Well, I don't think I'll need to bother her considering she isn't a criminal. I'll only bother thieves and poachers etc. And she isn't one of those, so I will leave her alone. I haven't seen any criminals so far. It's a peaceful job, a warden. I enjoy it. I love spending time in the forest, so it's perfect for me. What about you? Do you have a job? There are some job openings,' Renate said.

Azarous - July 1, 2004 06:48 AM (GMT)
Walks into the pub and asks the bar-tender to pass him a bottle of whiskey...He takes a huge drink and decides to head to the underdark next...

Lyrka - July 1, 2004 03:30 PM (GMT)
Lyrka nodded, sipped from her glass and listened to what Renate had to say. When she was done she smiled. “It’s always good to have a job you love.. Me?” She tapped her fingers against the bar, deciding whether or not to tell her. “I suppose you could consider it a job. I’m one of Kuya, the God of Day’s Chosen.”
She glanced over at the drow male that, for the moment, was beside her but turned her attention back to Renate.

ooc- sorry It took me so long to reply Renate, I've been having computer problems.
