Wampus believed that today was going to be the day. The sun was high in the desert, but he did not care. He chose this spot before he believed the direct sun only fueled the fire that burned within. The fire with which all his fire magic came from. He had not been in the arts for long, but he knew he could become a great wizard one day if he applied himself. Today, he was going to learn to do more than shoot sparks form his hand, which was the limit of his fire magic. Today, he was going to shoot a fireball.
He just didn't know how to go about it yet.
He sat down in the sand on the top of a dune. He closed his eyes and started meditating, hoping to find the power inside; hoping to tap into that inner flame which burns inside of everyone and unlease it into a controlled ball of flame instead of a small explosion of sparks.
Today she was taking more then just a walk. Today she was planning on seeing if she could find her way to the city of Istan, deep within the dry and parched deserts of Imythess, in order to reach the place she had taken all sorts of precautions. She had dressed herself in lightweight and flowing but thickly woven fabric and she had enough water on her to definitely feel its weight. She had also borrowed a camel. Well, she was delivering a camel to someone named Jural Belmoon in Istan. Sadly the poor creature was not doing as well as she would have liked. In the heat of the day she found herself walking along side it as it walked with an odd limp and kept its head low.
Ivory was attempting to find a place to stop with a bit of shade so she could try mending the beast. There didn’t seem to be any such place. That was becoming more and more annoying the further she walked along. At the top of a rise she stopped and looked around. This was just not going to work. She was going to have to take care of the beast now or either of them was going to be any use later. Ivory gave a heavy sigh. Then she turned the camel so its injured leg and herself were both in the beast’s shadow. As she kneeled down on the warm sand she also pushed back the head wrap she had seen so many others wearing out here. The healer took a moment to examine the leg and saw little wrong with it. This fact was incredibly annoying. Ivory decided that it was better to use magic then anything else she could do. She set her hands above and below the injury and closed her eyes.
She felt the healing power of the Earth itself flow into her and out the focus of her hands. She felt it working it’s way into the life of the camel and repairing the damage throughout its entire being. Then it was done and she let her hands drop. The healer stayed where she was sitting for a moment as she waited for the power to ground itself. Then she wouldn’t feel dizzy from it’s use.
Wampus's thoughts became consumed as his inner flames began to expand to his hands. At first, some sparks of fire came from his fingertips -- this normally happened when he was preparing his spells, but as of yet, he had not been able to form those sparks, just let them loose.
This time he focused his thoughts though. He used his power to hold on to the sparks until enough gathered and they became bigger and bigger, igniting his palm. A small flicker of a real flame appeared in his hand. It felt so much larger than any other fire he had manipulated before. His excited was noted as, with his eyes still closed in focus, he tried to throw the flame in front of him.
He opened his eyes to see the flame dissipate in the air for the flame was hardly yet a ball.
<< You need more power, more fire. This is no longer child's play! >> Wampus half-scolded himself.
He closed his eyes once more, going through the same steps. He did not know exactly how to empower himself more, he had only put just a little bit of energy into his minor spell, this was a big step for him.
Suddenly a connection was made in his head. His thoughts were that of the fire forming in his hand and no longer his mind. The small flame in his hand was no larger than before, but this time it was full of a fiery energy. Incantus ... Vulca ... IMPERIUM! Wampus said aloud.
The flames in his hand expanded tenfold in just a split second. Wampus could not jsut sense the fire in his hand, but it was as if it held its own weight like a regular ball. Wampus hald one hand over the other, cradling the fireball between his hands. He opened his eyes and looked at his miracle. He stood up, maintaining his newfound focus.
Rwwwaaaarhhh! He roared as he let loose the fireball out into the desert, assuming there was no one out there to fall pray to it.
