Title: Craving Water
wampus - September 29, 2008 01:49 AM (GMT)
Wampus crossed over yet another dune in the vast Istan Desert. He had been walking through here for five days now, yet ran out of water two days into his journey. He was on his way to the Desert oasis where he was to meet a man about a job, though he was unsure if he would make it or not now.
He made it to the top of another dune, but this time, because of his exhausted state, he misplaced his foot and started tumbling down the dune-side. At the bottom, his body lay, too tired to get up anymore. Perhaps someone would find him here -- or perhaps the carnivorous birds would first.

Lilith had been out stretching her wings when the sight of vultures caught her attention. She dipped her wings in that direction and followed the circling birds. As she got closer she could count the few there were. Only five, which meant the creature wasn’t dead yet, just close enough to draw some attention. She dropped down to the ground, landing lightly on her feet before she made her way over to the commotion.
It was only a few feet and there lay a man in the sand. Lilith brushed back her blonde hair and picked her way over to him. She wasn’t sure what to do so she gathered up her skirt in one hand and nudged the man with a sandaled foot, trying to find out if he was still alive like she had guessed at. If he was dead she didn’t really want to touch him, but there were no sticks in the desert so her foot would do.
Cain - September 30, 2008 02:38 AM (GMT)
Cain scuttled along the desert, hobbling along under several too-large cloaks. All of his clothes hung low, covering every inch of skin. He wore a scarf around the lower half of his face, a gleeful smile stretching his wrinkled face. He was muttering again, once more unconsciously casting. Suddenly, his skin cooled down and he continued walking.
Looking up, he heard, and smelled, a few vultures nearby, hovering over a person and what appeared to be a lump on the sand. He tutted and concentrated, muttering as he recalled a spell. Finishing rather quickly, a rather large and hard-looking snowball appeared hovering in his hand. Arm cocking back, he slung it forward, using its magic to guide it. It hit one of the vultures a glancing blow, breaking its wing.
Cain clicked his tongue and hobbled forward, hearing at the struggling bird. He raised his staff and slammed it down with surprising strength and accuracy. The bird went limb, twitching every once in a while. Satisfied, he approached the two curiously.
The old man chuckled as the woman kicked him, alerting them to his presence. He cupped a gloved hand and filled it with water, cooled by his touch. He took a sip, tapping the body with his walking staff.
“Think it’s thirsty?” He asked, face still facing the sky.
wampus - September 30, 2008 05:38 AM (GMT)
Wampus's eyes were shut. Oh, how he just wished he would die; at this point, death would be quite merciful, for the birds above him would not be so kind.
Then he felt a touch on his side. << Oh know, >> Wampus thought to himself, thinking that the vultures were already beginning to poke at him and would soon be pecking the flesh off his bones. The another nudge on another side. It had begun, there was no more hope for Wampus in this unforgiving desert.
Think it's thirsty? Wampus heard a man ask, as if to another.
A MAN! Another person, two even were here. Perhaps even more! There was still perhaps hope for this poor halfling today.
But then, another thought struck Wampus. What if these people were not to be trusted; what were they doing out here and why did they even care to stop for a helpless body in the middle of the desert.
He couldn't question what had happened though, he needed their help no matter what it could be, because if they did not help him, or even could not help him, the known fate with the vultures could be no worse.
He strained with the last little bit of his will to open his eyes. The sun was too bright, but he could not have opened his eyes much more even if he tried. He tried to speak, but his throat too dry and he just coughed a miserable cough which hurt from being so dry.
polsolve - September 30, 2008 04:10 PM (GMT)
Polsolve was walking in the desert on a job. He was supposed too get a scorpions claw but it had too be a certain claw it had too be a scorpion called Sarkoth.
Sarkoth is the biggest scorpion in the desert he is a black scorpid with blood stains all over him. He supposed too live in a cave somewhere in the desert.
Polsolve saw some people up ahead but one of them were laying down for some reason. Polsolve started walking over too them. Polsolve inspected them one of them were a winged angelic women and the other seemed he didn't like too show his or her face or any of his skin.
And the other was a male halfing. With Polsolve's booming voice he spoke"Hello I am Polsolve worshiper of Verrona darkblade"

“I suppose,” Lilith eyed the old man. After watching a vulture fall to the earth by a giant snow ball of all things she knew magic was involved, but upon seeing the old man she very much doubted it was his own. She scanned the desert quickly for others but finding nothing she turned back to the man, eyes narrowed.
“I have no water on me and,” She nudged the man a second time, “He doesn’t seem to want to move.” Lilith was loath to reach down and touch the man, if he was dead she didn’t want any diseases that could mar her skin or face. “I don’t even know if he’s alive… Why don’t you check?” She smiled at the man but at the sound of another didn’t wait for him to answer.
“Odd title,” She whispered to herself, wondering what to call back in return. She settled on: “Do you have water or healing skills?” Will you touch a rotting carcass? The last she didn’t say but the other man looked too old to even bend over.
Cain - October 1, 2008 01:20 AM (GMT)
Cain giggled as she spoke, nodding. “Aye, aye, that I do.” He smiled to himself, looking straight ahead, eyes covered by a black shroud. “I can do better than that.” He chuckled, muttering under his breath as he poked the body with his staff twice. Cupping his hand and moving it in small circles, he felt water fill it, then bent down, touching it with the back of his hand until he found it’s lips, then tilted his hand a little, water pouring down. It was chilled more than normal by the old man’s touch.
With the rest of the water, he finished muttering, glove growing a layer of frost on it. He tossed the rest of the water in the air, beads freezing and hitting the sand, melting on the spot and making little pits. Hearing the minute thumps with enhanced ears, he clapped once, pleased.
Cain turned to Lilith and looked up just enough for her to see his pale, wrinkled face, black shroud contrasting with his milky skin. Oddly enough, it wasn’t completely the translucent, pale skin of aged men, a little more of a solid white, but barely blue.
Still facing her, he stamped his staff, chuckling at nothing, switching his staff to his cool left hand, where the section of the staff he seized gained a wetness of frost melting as quickly as it appeared. His right hand dove into a pouch, seizing a small, blue rock. He sniffed at it for a moment, then when it would be expected he put it away, a pale pink tongue dabbed at it. He held his tongue out, a frown on his face. As he tossed the rock, a little of his glove pulled forward, sleeve pulling back. A hiss could be heard as sun-exposed flesh sizzled, turning a dark red with a grey in the center. Just long enough to notice. Cain yelped and pulled his hand back, nursing his singed wrist.

Wampus felt the moisture on his lips. It was water, true enough! There were people around him, now three by his count, though his count was all but too trustworthy in his state. He felt a slight bit of energy course through his body as the water moisturized and revitalized his body. He could use some food as well, but he was much better -- better enough to try and get up.
He moved his hand a little bit -- though it was very stiff from being immobile for such a long time. He managed though and got his hands beneath him enough so as to push himself up to a sitting position.
He tried to look around, the sun was bright though. He did see three figured, though couldn't make out much detail due to the brightness. He tried to say something, Cough, was all that came out at first because of how dry his mouth had just been. He tried again and this time words actually came forth.
My name, he paused to take a breath, Wampus. Thank you. He squinted to try to get better looks at his rescuers. His eyes were still adjusting, but that did not mean he couldn't at least try to figure out who these people were. Who are you travelers to stumble upon such a poor halfling such as myself.

"Ah yes halfling you might not have heard me be for but I am Polsolve worshiper of Verrona darkblade and I am also a mercenary on a job". "Well I am going too go find some fire wood it may be dark soon".
Polsolve started walking and picking up wood scraps that he comes by. He saw many dead bodies he checked too see if they had any food on them but all he found was a apple on one of them it looked pretty good he put it in his pocket.
It was getting dark so Polsolve started heading back he had a enough wood too burn for awhile.
