Title: An accident at the Library
Description: (Open for all)
Calance - September 28, 2008 10:50 AM (GMT)
The library was quiet. Only a few people could be heard whispering and walking around, probably fetching books and discussed different ideas about certain spells.
From the Air-magic section, a young girl came walking with unsecure steps as she was balancing a huge pile of books. She was wearing a school wizard uniform and had her hair in a pony-tail. The girl couldn't see much infront of her due the books wich was limiting her vision greatly.
She was walking blindly around, trying to find a nearby table, wich she soon found and walked toward it.
Tough, on her way, she bumped into a chair and accidently dropped about half of her pile of books.
-Flakalapakat!-
With that she broke the peace of the library and gained alot of angry eyes glaring at her. Her face turned red and was highly ashamed of dropping all these old books, but she tried to not destroy them by walking away from the pile carefully and placed the remaining books onto the table. Then she returned to the books wich was scattered on the floor and started to pick them up one by one.
A few minutes later, a librarian came by and looked very angry by the girls irresponsible behaviour.
"How dare you to be so irresponsible to these old books, Calence! This is the second time this month!" The librarian roared in anger.
"If you do like this one more time I will personally make that you will never be able to enter this library again!"
"I.. I am sorry, but I.." Calance tried to explain herself as she was getting yelled at from the librarian.
"No buts! Make sure that there is no book wich have been ripped in any way! If there is you have to pay for it!" The librarian finished and walked off with angry steps.
Calance felt sad over being so clumsy, but things like this happends when she became too eager to learn. Her worst nightmare would probably to be forbidden to enter the library. Why was everything against her today?
Calance continued to pick up the remaining books and placed them at the table aswell, however she felt like there was alot of eyes wich was looking at her. She had drawn alot of attention to herself. This was very embarrasing.
She tried to ignore the eyes and sat down by the table and picked up a book and started to read it.

Wampus was sitting in the library; what a library it was. So massive compared to the ones around where he grew up. << If only I had access to a place like this when I was studying in school! I would be twice the wizard I am today...> Wampus thought to himself.
He turned the page of the particularly enjoyable book he was reading; it was about how to properly quicken spell casting. Wampus saw it earlier and was very intrigued by it. It described wizards of past who brought meteors down from the heavens with only a quick word and a short hand gesture; compared to the normal rune circle required and a long chant, this was really an insane ability.
All the sudden, a loud noise came from the next room. Flakalapakat! Wampus heard someone shout. He left his book at the table he was reading and rushed over to the next room to see what the bedlam was.
There was a girl -- a human wizard girl -- who had been a little too careless with her books (though she did have a good hefty loud of books to carry. Wampus couldn't help but chuckle a little to himself when seeing the librarian scold her for being so careless -- but he only thought it funny because he had been in those very same shoes once or twice before.
As the librarian walked off and the girl finished picking up the books, Wampus walked over to the table and said Don't mind her, refering to the library, she's just way too overprotective of these books. He gave her a smile and said, My name is Wampus, what's yours?
Calance - September 28, 2008 04:22 PM (GMT)
Calance had just opened her book when Wampus started to talk with her. She looked up at him and he could see that she was still very embarrased of the situation.
"I am called Calance, nice to meet you Wampus." Calance replied with a bit embarrased smile.
"I can't blame her for being overprotective, since some of these books are very old and could easily fall apart if handled wrong." Calance explained, reflecting her own misstake.
The book wich Calance was holding was very old and it was about Wind magic and it's secrets. Wampus could easily make out that she was a wind mage or wizard of some sort, or atleast tried to become one, by looking at all the books on the table. There was a few wich was about cold and ice, but nearly all others was about air and lightning.
Calance looked up at Wampus and gave him a smile, "You are free to sit down, if you like." Calance insisted and made place on the table by putting the pile of books onto one corner of the table, instead scattered all over the table.
Afterwards, Calance got a bit silent since she was lacking words to start a conversation, since it would probably end up with some more disaster as she've alredy created. But she tried anyway...
"Which subject are you here to read up on?" Calance asked Wampus and looked highly interested. "I am doing some historical homework." Calance explained, then she quoted what the question was.
" 'How the Wind magic was born, and where it was born from.' "
She smiled hopelessly from the quote, showing that she was pretty much lost in her mountain of books since she had no clue on where to look for the answer.

Wampus took Calance's invitation to sit and pulled around one other the seats nearby. He really did hate the seats here, they were all meant for normal sized people and being a halfling really made it difficult do things sometimes. All the less, he climbed up into the seat and sat down, peering over at Calance's book as she explained about it and her profession.
It's always nice to meet another wizard, Wampus started, Never had much used for weapons and shields all meant for people more of your stature ya know. He looked back down at the book she had open -- making a mental note to go back to read it himself some other time.
I have dabbled a little bit into the arts of the wind, but I truly fire the most. Wampus paused for just a second before realizing perhaps he should explain why he picked fire, Fire gets such a harsh judgment from most people. People thinking it is only for damange and destruction. People are so quick to forget the flames in their chimneys during the cold seasons and the torches that light their way in dark corridors. Fire warms the soul and adds twinkle to the eye.

Calance followed the halfling with her eyes as he climbed up the chair. It sure must be hard to be so small... She listened carefully on what the the halfling had to say.
"To be honest, I was choosing between fire and wind when I was still just a child. But I was afraid of burning myself, so I chose wind magic instead. Today, I have forgotten about the few fire tricks I knew back then." Calance said and smiled, finding this halfling very friendly and easy to talk with.
"It is true what you are saying about the fire magic, very few actually understand what fire actually means for any living being." Calance said agreeingly and nodded.
She looked like she had discovered the answer on the most important question of the universe: Why does life excist? But in fact, she was just feeling happy that she had someone to talk with. Her class-mates wasn't really much as friends so she was very often alone, but Calance didn't care since she could use her time to study instead. However, it was always good to have someone to talk with time to time.
Calance was looking down in the book again for a second and found something interesting. It was an anicent spell wich made you become one with the winds.
"...Very interesting." Calance mumbled as she became absorbed with reading the information the spell had to give. But she didn't read for long since she remembered herself sitting next to someone wich might become her friend. She looked at him again, but she couldn't help that her eyes flickered to the book several times due her curiosity.

Wampus never did like the fact that he never did seem to blend in with the normal people of the city. People always associated halflings to be rogues and thieves before anything else, especially not a scholarly wizard. It was very comforting to find someone that was not so quick to judge him because of his short stature.
Calance seemed to be trying really hard to pay attention to Wampus, she even smiled at him, which gave him a very pleasant feeling -- but she was obviously very attracted to her readings as well. You're very pretty he told her, honestly. Wampus knew the moment he said it that he should not have. This was a library, he came here to study and so did this girl. Why in the nine hells did he say that?
He was able to keep his mouth shut when he had a thought.
He blushed a bit and said I'm sorry... I should not have bothered you... Wampus started to walk away, not able to think of what Calance must think of him now. << Why did you have to open your mouth you fool! >> Wampus scolded himself in his head.
Calance - September 28, 2008 08:04 PM (GMT)
Calance got stuck by reading her book but when Wampus said that she was pretty, she opened her ears and looked at him with a very surprised face. If Wampus looked a bit more close, he'd notice that her face was slightly blushing.
She had never heard anyone give her a compliment of her apperence before, so she was speechless on what to reply on him. But before he gave her the oppertuniy, he had alredy excused himself.
Calance followed him with her eyes, and when he had gotten a few steps away, she finally opened her mouth to say something.
"Where are you going?" Calance asked him. "It should rather be me who say sorry since I was making such a big fuzz with the books earlier." She continued and giggled.
Calance enjoyed Wampus' company and didn't feel like sitting alone to study at the moment.
"Are you fetching your books? Or should I move to your table instead?" She asked, taking it for granted that he wanted to be around her, judging by his previous comment.
Calance couldn't help but wonder if he would say that he was going to study alone, since she really enjoyed the company of that halfling. He was kind and talkative but a bit random at times, still fun tough. Perhaps they could learn even more from echother?
wampus - September 28, 2008 10:18 PM (GMT)
Wampus was still red in the cheeks. << There was no need Wampus, you're just a halfling, she's a human. She would not have even noticed you if you had not have stuck your nose in her affairs. >>
Then she called back to him.
He was shocked. He didn't know what to do... what to say. Umm... he stumbled at words, Getting my books is all, I'll be right back. He said real quick after composing himself. It would have been just rude to just leave, he figured, especially if she wasn't completely turned away by his actions and words.
He walked quickly back to his previous study area and grabbed the couple books he had laying about. "Beyond Sparks and Flares" and "Rorraik's guide to Fireworks" were the two he was currently reading. He wasn't one of the best fire wizards, mostly because he got side tracked with small books not quick relating toward advancing his knowledge -- though that's not to say he didn't enjoy learning those as well.
He grabbed his books and hurried back to the table where Calance was sitting. Not as impressive as your pile, I know he said while sitting down.
