Title: Arrival
Posuda - September 16, 2008 10:52 PM (GMT)
The wind was at a lull as a lone traveler walked down the road into the Norwood village. The village was well known by the man's tribe, but it was the first stop on the way. The man carried a large pack full of food, his sleep roll, rope, and other necessities needed for his trip. The man's buckler and spear were at the packs side, strapped on with leather. The man, Posuda, wore padded cloth. It was simple cloth, one could simply guess that is was burlap before becoming creepy and inspecting ones clothing. The man did not truly like elves, but he was sent here to deal with them, and be nice. He did not knows where exactly to go, so he simply went to what he guessed was the bar.
The man's first guess was wrong - completely wrong. He walked into a house of ill repute, and he was about to take his pack off when he looked across the room to see what he saw jiggling there. He promptly left, and continued his search for a inn. His second guess was correct, there was a scene of many men sitting there and drinking their drinks and eating the food that were being served. Posuda did not know much of the elven tongue - but he knew enough to communicate with a hostess. He gave the lady a few gold - a few gold that he got from trading pelts to some mean earlier. And she showed Posuda to his room, where he shrugged his pack off his shoulder onto the bed, and locked the room as he left. Posuda walked down the steps, now without his pack his features were more noticeable, he had nearly perfectly round green eyes, a hawk like nose, and light brown hair that went down to his brow. He sat at the bar and order a few ginger beers while tossing over a few more coins to a hostess. Posuda looked around to see whole was in the room.
((The elves are mainly here, right? ))
Eliel - September 17, 2008 01:57 AM (GMT)
Eliel strode into the inn with ease, only drawing a couple glances. The couple he got however were kind ones, the people of Norwood knew him well enough as the kindly drow who lived in the tower to the north, who kept bandits from going too near the town. Since he had moved in, raids had lessened. He needed a bit of fun once in a while, after all.
Eliel wore simple clothing today, boots, black pants, a loose fitting white shirt, and his piwafwi, Luriel strapped to his belt today. The only armor he wore today was his single left gauntlet, a fine piece made of a goldish-brass metal, mainly one piece. It was easily flexible enough to not hinder him. The thing was highly valued to him now, a powerful thing.
Eliel ordered ale, looking around as he leaned over the bar. The hostess slid his ale to him with a wary smile and Eliel paid her with a wink, taking the mug and turning his gaze onto a man he hadn’t seen around much.
The drow sat at a table near him and watched him, feet kicked up on the chair by him. Waiting to catch his eye, Eliel turned the chair and kicked it forward a little, looking at him at the bar. “Take a seat, I insist.” He smiled happily.
Posuda - September 17, 2008 02:10 AM (GMT)
Posudapolotencherastaviyigolos kept his gaze on the new man who came in. He paused his stare to take a few large gulps of his drink and to recover from the drink's sting. He looked back at the man, he had never seen anything like it, the thing was indistinguishable from the pitch black of the night sky that could be seen from from the inns windows. He subtly cleared his throat and spoke to the drow in a slow manner - insuring he did not make any kind of grammatical error, but he still seemed nervous, just for being around a stranger. "What are you, sir?- I mean, who are you?" He stood and walked over and sat down. He told the man his name, or at least that is what one could guess, it sounded like he said a quick garble that would be hard to pronounce with a normal human tongue, at also just generally sounded nonsensical "Posudapolotencherastaviyigolos".
Be pulled out a set of six wooden and stained dice that seemed to be weathered with age and pulled out a pouch of coins "Wish to play?"
Eliel - September 17, 2008 02:24 AM (GMT)
Eliel chuckled, looking into his drink as the human spoke his name. “Posudapolotencherastaviyigolos, eh?” He smiled, saying it a few times under his breath. “I think I’ll stick with Posuda, if you don’t mind.” He winked. “I’m Eliel Usreanac, the resident of the tower in a clearing just north of here.” He nodded his head respectfully, a finger idly tracing the pommel of Luriel’s hilt.
“a gaming man, huh?” He asked, looking at the dice curiously. “Never been much for them myself, usually spent my time killing things or practicing with a sword. You’ll have to show me how.” He set the mug down and rubbed his hands together, scarred right palm touching the cool metal of his left.
“ If you like, we could go hunt bandits later. A pastime of mine, since goblins are out of the question at the moment, don’t ask why.” He chuckled.
It was very likely recent events in the underdark had some prestigious assassins after him. He’d foiled a ceremony to kill a chld, taking him home with him. The child now resided in his tower, being taken care of by Gwen, Roy, and Abel, very worthy protectors. And pets.
“Well, then. How do we do this?” He smiled widely.
Posuda - September 17, 2008 02:56 AM (GMT)
The man held a slight smirk and looked to the dice, he spoke in the same slow ungainly accent to make sure he did not slip a error. "For my game, I pick a stake - in this case the stake is 5 gold coins- then you throws two dice. I roll two guide dice, and if you nick, you win the stake. Five is nicked by 5; 6 by 6 or 12; 7 by 7 or 11; 8 by 8 or 12; 9 by 9. Above 9 on the guide dice calls for a reroll The caster has to pay the stake if he does not nick, or pay for a drink for the other man - whatever is preferred."
The man retrieved three dice and put them in his pocket. He rolled the guide dice, it rolled in the air - and for someone already groggy with alcohol it spent a long time in the air and to land. It hit the table, giving off some noise, Posuda rubbed the blurriness from his eyes and read out the result "Seven." He gave the two other dice to the man while he finished his ginger drink, wincing from the strength of the drink.
Eliel - September 20, 2008 06:15 PM (GMT)
Eliel shrugged as the man explained the rules. He couldn’t quite follow them, but no matter. It seems all he had to do was roll the dice. He’d let the man decide what happened.
Eliel took the dice, rolling them about in his hand while he looked at them. They’d certainly seen some time. He chuckled as he closed his hands, shaking them around and tossing them onto the table, watching them stop.
“Hmm. You’ll have to tell me what it is. Didn’t quite follow.” He laughed, sipping at his ale. He smiled, feeling the strong drink flow. It did little, having had stronger before. The man seemed to have a drink that was a bit strong for him. Eliel laughed again, raising his glass a little.
Posuda - September 20, 2008 06:30 PM (GMT)
The two dice rolled, eventually they came out adding together as eleven. Posuda grumbled and handed over five coins. When he spoke, it seemed apparent that he had forsaken his sobriety mainly for entertainment. In slurred speech he said something So you wish to continue, or do what you were talking about earlier? It was pretty hard to comprehend, but at least he did not have troubles keeping his balance once he stood out of his chair. What food he could buy stymied his hunger, so he did not seem un comfortable now, expect for the signed that he had to relieve himself. He hastily walked away from the table, and into somewhere outside. After a minute or so he had returned, slightly more sober due to how clod it was outside, and much more comfortable. He spoke again, much less slurred than before So what did you mention earlier about bandits?
He sat in the chair, and twiddled his thumbs.
