Title: Lost Spirit
Description: Open! (one other only please!)
Aether Draka - September 4, 2008 05:12 AM (GMT)
The mist seemed to be trying to fool her. It kept changing, shifting... if she couldn't find some sort of landmark it was going to be incredibly hard to shadow jump here. With all the white mist it was going to be difficult to shadow jump as it was. Then she saw a shape off to the right and walked toward it. The object was large and black and when she reached out to touch it she felt cool stone under her fingers, the mist had collected on it quite a bit and made it darker due to that. She walked around the stone that didn’t seem too large around, but was tall enough that the top seemed to vanish above the mist. A marker perhaps?
AD’s walk around the large monolith revealed another one only about five paces away. She found two more before the mist seemed to be thinning. It took her a moment to realize that they were lining the edge of a large field covered in a thin and wispy fog about two or three feet off the ground. Above her she saw the night sky, the stars shimmering like tiny gems on some lovely cloak that night wrapped about herself. AD wrapped her own cloak about herself and wished she had worn something warmer then the thin dress she had on. She had a pair of shoes on, the winged boots from her pack, but she hadn’t any stockings… Finding a place like this meant she could take the shoes off though! She went over to one of the stones, this one broken off at the base long enough ago that moss had grown over the break. Then she pulled off the boots and rubbed the sore spots on her feet. They were red but she didn’t think she had blisters.
She could go now, but after finding such a place, she wanted to take it in. It was a quiet beauty, though it hinted of other things, things she didn’t want to think about at the moment.
Lynthaer Golthry - September 20, 2008 01:54 AM (GMT)
Snarling, Lynthaer threw himself at the large demon, a foot taller than himself. He received a slash to the shoulder as the creature retaliated with and over sized crablike pincer. Ignoring the pain like he had learned to do for what seemed like a eternity, he reached up with his own clawed hand and grabbed the demons throat. With a roar, he toar and ripped, removing flesh from whatever bone like structure that lay beneath. With gurgle, the thing fell to its knees. Lynthaer, in full demon form, grabbed the things head and pulled it forward, bringing his face down to the demon's. "Open the portal!" he roared. A sickening sound emerged from what was left of the demon's throat. Eyes blazing, Lynthaer drove his gaze into the multitude of orbs in the demons face. He could see his reflection in them, and rather retched one it was. He did not know how time ran in the abyss, thus he knew not how long he had been here. He did know that he was transformed. Not in shape, that was his choice, but in soul. He knew now why the fiends of the realm were the monsters they were. And now he was very much one of them. He had been in this form for nearly his entire duration here, ever since he had placed that stone in the center of Taras. That damnable stone, and the being who had given it to him. Betrayed he was, driven into the depths of hell and forced to live by it's rules. But now his time to leave had come. This place was thin, and this demon was to be one who could rip the fabric...if he could be forced to.
There was a shifting behind the fiend Lynth was supporting. His eyes shifted to it, a triumphant gleam in them. Without a thought, he shoved the demon aside and through himself at the rift. Hopefully..
Lynthaer was blind for a moment, then all he could see was gray. He sniffed, breathing in the air, and found the air to be incredibly moist..and fresh. Growling with pleasure, he blinked until he could see clearly. It was night, and from what he could see, he was in a mist covered plain. He was back to Imythess, though not in the place he left. However, that could be fixed. Taras would be under the control of Divschatten now, perhaps even be preparing to attack another target. The demon army would be his, and if the being showed its face once more, Lynthaer would strike him down.
Lynthaer spread his wings and prepared himself to leap for flight when he realized that he had no idea the direction of Taras. "Damn," he growled loudly, his voice echoing across the plains. The large demon slowly retraced his wings, eyes peering through the mist. This place was quiet, which indicated there would be little life. Looking over his shoulder, he watched the rip repair itself. He was alone.
Aether Draka - September 23, 2008 04:15 PM (GMT)
She streached out her legs and let her gaze travel around the misty suroundings and the small little indent in the ground here that the fog seemed hesatent to linger in. She smiled to herself and looked about. This was a good place. If she was ever going to make herself a place of her own, here would be perfect. She wasn't sure how one built a house though and she was hesatent to have just anyone how where she lived.
She did have the guild hall, that was for sure, but the Abyss was another plane of existance. If she was going to stay here in Imythess for an extended time she would want to have a place to call her own actually on the lands themselves. With a plan like that though, she was going to have to befriend a builder of some sort or find a way to make a place for herself magicly.
She tucked her boots away and rose to walk accross the opening. The grass was cool and damp on the bottom of her feet and it felt really nice. She hadn't gone more then a few steps when a sound seemed to try to echo. She froze and then turned about to pin point the location of the sound. She frowned slightly and moved toward the sound carefully and as silently as she could. She passed around one of the stones and keeping it at her back she moved slowly away from it. A huge shape started to take form before her and she smelled blood and fire. She smelled the Abyss. Demon. She streghtened and walked boadly forward. If it was a demons she didn't know, it was not going to stay here. She felt her demonic side taking notice of the demon in the back of her mind, though it didn't speak.
Then, she recognized who it was and stopped dead in her tracks. She did know this demon, but what was he doing out here? Was this why no one could find him, because he really was lost in mist? "Lynthaer?" There was a hesatent tone in her voice, because he didn't seem to smell right and she wanted to make sure it wasn't his infused taking over again. I was Lynthaer she wished to speak to anyways.
Lynthaer Golthry - September 24, 2008 12:18 AM (GMT)
Without warning, Lynthaer heard the voice behind him. Reflexes kicking in he took immediate action. Reaching for his beaten and battered sword, he dove to his left growling in preparation for an attack. His first though was that another demon had followed him through and was already on the attack and was saying his name to let him know of his foolishness. Then, deep in his mind, in a part that still held on to the surface, he identified the voice. Whipping around, sword still in hand but no longer threatening, his eyes found her. "Aether?" he growled in astonishment. Eyes furrowed in astonishment, he took a hesitant step forward. Was this a trick? There were demons who had the ability to bring about illusions of those one cared about. This could easily be a trap. But here on the surface, there was more of a possibility that this was the real thing, in which case if he attacked, he would end up killing the actual woman. Eyes narrowing, his whipped his sword up and out, it's tip pointing at her breasts.
"Stop fiend!" he shouted. "Whether you be illusion or my true friend, halt!" Lynth was going to take no chances. Another thought had just entered his mind, one that was fast bringing him to the conclusion that this was a fraud. With Taras defeated and him gone, Aether should be in Taras in his stead, a duty he would think that she knew. Therefore, in his mind, there would be next to no reason for her to be elsewhere. Thinking he had just found some clue as to the actual identity, he took a step forward, a snarl forming on his face.
"Before you spout lies beast," he growled, eyes locked onto hers, "Explain to me why you assume this form? What point is there pretending to be my only companion when she should reside in the defeated City of Taras?" A twisted grin began to form, though it did so in a manner that combined it with the snarl, creating an even more disturbing expression on the demons face. "But that's right, you wouldn't know of my triumph here, only my struggle in your world. So tell me fiend, before I make you pay for your impersonation, how far did you think this would actually work?!"
Aether Draka - September 24, 2008 01:55 AM (GMT)
She stopped when he drew his blade at her and looked at him in surprise. It wasn't the demon who controlled him, but something was wrong... She frowned. "You expected me to stay in Taras? The place burned with Hellfire and the Divschatten had no way to control the demons that showed. I can't command beasts I don't summon Lynthaer. I had to flee myself, as they came after me for my celestial blood. I ended up speaking with Rothardan. He blames you. He is searching for you and wishes you dead, and the entire guild is to follow. Half of the guild is pissed because there isn't a Taras anymore and half of them thought it was fun. They want to know why you did it." She shook her head. "I don't care why, because I know why. I don't know how I know why, but I do. I just don't know why you never told me." She rose her hand to move the blade away with the back wrist, the bracelet there clanked against the metal. "If you would rather me be there, I can do that, but there are only ruins of Taras left and the guild didn't even stay there. What is the point in haunting ruins?"
She felt the flicker in the back of her mind again and it broke what little was holding her together from the moment she saw it was him. She turned from him and started back to the stones she had found before. The thought of being accused of being something she wasn't was unbearable coming from him. She didn't want to get mad at him though, even if he deserved it... she couldn't do it... she didn't know why. Damn.
Her hand touched the cold black stone and she spoke to herself. "I'm probably just imagining things anyways. Lynthaer wouldn't be here. It's wishful thinking. Just the mist. I should just go find something to eat..." Even though she said it, she didn't want to believe it. She wanted to have found Lynthaer before Rothardan and the rest of the guild. She was never that lucky though, not without drinking some of her potion of chance... which she hadn't done for some time, from before Melmoth had joined the guild. How long had it been?
((OOC: AD became the Demi-Goddess of Secrets for a bit and lost it in the Attack on Taras thread, before she even figured out what she became... then she lost her mind and this is as close to normal as she will get.))
Lynthaer Golthry - September 24, 2008 04:02 PM (GMT)
The news struck Lynthaer like an axe to the heart. His mind went numb, and there was no resistance when Aether shoved his blade aside. In fact, the weapon fell to the ground beside him. If hed still drew breath he would have stopped at that moment. The city was gone? A powerful paladin was now out for his blood fo the destruction of the center of Imythess. And above all, Divschatten itself had turned agaisnt him. Lynthaer was utterly dumbstruck. Then came the image of that dark being that had given him the stone in the first place. Who had promiused him an army, who had told him that he would help to change the face of this realm. Who had decieved him, making him believe that he was to rule. He had been betrayed. For the second time in his life, he had been stabbed from behind in a severe way. Anger did not overwhelm him this time however. No rage, no blasts of heat from his body. For once, he was completely hollow. Without even trying to hold his legs strait, he dropped to his knees, eyes dimming and blank.
"Gone?" he rumbled, eyes saring blankly at where Aether stood, talking to herself. "The city is gone? The demons....they were ment to be controlled...they....." Lynthaer trailed off, not knowing what to say. He had beenn tricked. For all of his cleverness, his whit, he had been pawned. He had released an army that was not his, and they were most likely ready to do to the rest of Imythess what they had supposedly done to Taras. And it was HIS fault. Lynthaer was the only one to blame for this.
As these thoughts went through his mind, the reasonable part of his brain identified a question that truly needed answering. "Aether," Lynth began, "How long was I gone? And what happened in that time?"
Aether Draka - September 25, 2008 02:25 AM (GMT)
She heard Lynthaer behind her still. She smelled him even with the smell of other's blood on him and his blade. She closed her eyes a moment and asked in a silent whisper, if her other side thought it was really him. Had she managed to really find him? Her breath held for that moment and then a single word reached her mind. Yes. Her other side thought it was him, so perhaps...
AD's hand dropped away from the stone and she once more turned to face the figure. She took a breath and held it another moment before walking back over to him. She stood while he was on his knees and she felt odd. It was odd not having to lift her chin to speak to him. "Lynthaer, I'm sorry. I've lost track of time. I keep traveling about trying to do too many things at once. If my memory serves I was both in Kellen and the old runes where the undead are at the same time and I know that is wrong. I also know both happened." She shook her head and knelt down so she was balanced on her bare toes. She felt more comfortable with him being taller then her. AD's features were sad and she looked tired.
"You vanished when the first demons showed. They just went out from the center of the city like a firework had been set off. Hellfire followed at their heels as they literally tore the city and everything they met apart. Some where like you, with the ability to smell that I had more then just demonic blood. I stayed back while a few went forward to fight the uncontrolled demons and some of the other Divschatten stayed back to watch while others were treated as simply lesser demons by the so called demon army. They didn't take the city over, they brought it to the ground. There isn't even an arena, the Goddess of Blades’ Temple is no longer there and Gregory and his entire city are simply gone. The Goddess of Earth apparently died, or that is what Rothardan says, and they are saying it was you. What do you know about that one who gave you the stone you put in the center of Taras? How do I know you were given it? Why didn’t you tell me what you had planned?” Her voice wavered at the last question and her eyes tried to keep his gaze, afraid he would look away and she wouldn’t know any of her answers.
Lynthaer Golthry - October 18, 2008 11:51 PM (GMT)
The images filled his mind as Aether spoke. Before he had been sucked into the very portal which he had opened, he had seen the denizens of the abyss climbing out. His face...he was almost always smiling, but at that time he face would have radiant. He remembered the feeling before he had been lost to the foul dimension. One of the thoughts that drove him through the layers was the thought that a kingdom was awaiting him. He knew that the guild would most likely choose another, but he had confidence he could once again wrestle control. But now this. It had shaken the foundations of even the gods themselves. His own half brother, someone who above him, lost his city. The name Rothardan sparked a memory, but it was quickly brushed aside.
Lynthaer blinked. Aether had asked him a question. Raising his eyes from the ground he looked at AD again. "The stone...I was approached by someone with a proposition." His mind wandered back to the day when that fiend had trespassed on his ground. Oh how he had wanted what had been offered. "I was at Choronzon Gebäude alone. The gates were forced open by someone, someone who knew where the hall was and was able command it. Upon challenging him I met a force vastly greater than myself. That was when he offered me the gem. He told me that he had been instrumental in the shaping of the land thousands of years ago and he wanted me to lead a new shaping. I was to place that in the center of Taras....." He let it go then, knowing that Aether knew the rest.
"I don't know how you gleaned the knowledge from me. I never told anyone of it, only that we were attacking. It was to be a surprise. To show everyone that I was not something be be ignored. Not the Gods, not Faust. I wanted to show you too. I wanted to show those that hurt who what they were up against." He bowed his head again and closed his eyes. He heard nothing, for Shlaerthaern and the Madness had been met and silenced during his trek through the abyss. No guidance from them, no insults. Just silence. His face began to harden again. Rising slowly, his features determined, his raised his eyes and looked down upon AD, standing a good 4 feet or more below him at the moment. "I am sorry Aether. I've failed you yet again. And this time the consequences are more dire than before. As you have remained here, I need you to advise me on what needs to be done...please?"
Aether Draka - October 22, 2008 09:54 PM (GMT)
She refused to let her gaze waver from him and when he stood and spoke; she took a moment before raising to her feet too. She smiled slightly, relived. “We can take care of this disaster. That Being played you a fool and the Divschatten has already decided that we will not become some tools for this Being. We will not be considered lesser demons because we aren’t full-blooded demons. Imythess isn’t something we are going to let someone else destroy after all.
“There were some demons that attacked Cascadia last year. The demon leading them, I discovered after a it of research, was actually the demon who created the entrance to the guild hall and most likely came from there in the first place. He had been imprisoned in the statue over the falls and there is some dark powers there. If I can get hold of a sample of the once imprisoned demon’s power I can take the stones left over from the statue and that to the Academy of Magic to figure out what the power was that released him. Knowing that, we can then test ways to counter it. I even know where the demon is, though I can’t reach him.” She shrugged.
“I’m not getting to far with that though. I’m debating trying to talk with Rothardan again, but he was pissed when I saw him last.” She said more to herself then to Lynthaer. Then she looked up at him as an idea crossed her mind. “If you knew where the stone had gone, I could use that! Have you seen it?” Aether Draka looked at him hopefully.
Lynthaer Golthry - October 25, 2008 12:47 AM (GMT)
The storm of Lynthaer's mind was calmed as Aether spoke to him, her voice calming him. The huge demon came as close to relaxing as he had in roughly two months. The sound of something so familiar took his mind from the panic and turmoil of the abyss. Listening, he began to run over the information. Another demon, one with connections to Choronzon Gebäude resided on Imythess? This was indeed news to Lynthaer's ears. Another being walking this ground that might have been instrumental in his entrapment and betrayal. A stirring of anger began to rise, but Lynthaer compressed it. He could use it later when hew needed it.
"Unfortunately, I lost the stone during the begging of the outbreak." he began after AD stated her question. "Perhaps it was after my decent, or maybe it lies somewhere in the ruble. Either way, I do not have it." Pausing, he thought about the crystal a moment. Thinking about who he received it from, he spoke again. "However, I doubt it has been destroyed. Whether just another stone in the Abyss, or under a tower, it is probably waiting for me or Him. It might not be detectable though. However, If it does rest under the rubble, do you think it would be worth finding?" He frowned as he looked down, his mind piecing together the other pieces. Rotharadan. Lynthaer knew of him, a holy knight that participated in the defense of Taras, one whom would be more than enough to rip Lynthaer apart, especially in his current state. Lynthaer highly doubted that the man had taken a liking to Lynthaer lately, even though they had never me.t to establish any sort of relation in the first place.
"Other than the stone, is there any other way to begin to investigate this?" he asked earnestly. After all, it was very much like she said. He was not about to let someone else destroy Imythess. No, that was his job, and seeing as he was already damned, there was not much else anyone could do to him to stop him. That was, opf course, After he tore the very soul from this being.
Aether Draka - October 26, 2008 06:30 PM (GMT)
AD was a little disappointed that Lynthaer didn't have the stone, but it had been a stretch any way. She was just going to stick with her plan then. The demon that attacked Cascadia a year ago was her best bet. Thinking over the different problems she shook her head. Looking back up at her dear friend, the anger that had been directed at him had completely shifted to the being behind it all.
It was hard for her to be angry at him anyways. He was, after all, her best friend. "I think it would be best if you went to Taras next. Go see it for yourself and if you happen to find the stone, all the better. I need to drop by the Academy of Magic myself and see if I can find something useful there. In about four days there will be a full moon. If you could meet me in Cascadia then, we may be able to find something out from the demon who attacked that city a year ago. If I'm correct, the demon lays in the bottom of the lake where Cascadia once stood before it was lifted into the air. I don't want other demons, like the others who are following this shadowy being, to know what we are up to. So, it will have to be a quiet thing and preferably in town to start of with. It's harder for full blooded demons to get into Cascadia." She smiled up at him, "Keep an eye out for the other members of the guild, some are not too happy with how things worked out. I doubt they would lash out at you but you can never be sure."
Then she frowned then, remembering something. "I spoke to the Master Archmage of the Academy of Magic about making you alive again. He said he knew a way, but he would have to see you. I was going to tell you earlier, but with Taras..." She let it trail off. "If we can get something from the demon in the bottom of the lake, would you like to come with me back to the Academy? I don't think he would be willing to help you right now as he blames you, as the leader of the Divschatten, for what happened to Taras. But... but if he sees that we are trying to get rid of the thing behind the attack, perhaps he will not be so harsh. I don't know if you want to try that still tough, do you?"
Lynthaer Golthry - November 6, 2008 01:34 AM (GMT)
Lynthaer chuckled as Aether commented on the members of Divcschatten. He trusted very few of them to begin with, so keeping an eye out for them would not be a problem. They were all partially demonic in some for or another, which told enough about most of their loyalties to begin with. "I will keep an eye out and a spell ready." he said. Of course, he was not trully worried. The only person he knew of in the guild that could defeat him was standing before him, and he trusted her utterly.
Lynthaer began to give thought to going to Taras now that AD suggested it. Perhaps was some sort of knowledge he could obtain from the place by just being there. It would be fortunate to find the stone, but within a city of ruble? No, Lynthaer supposed he would have to search the fallen city for something else.
Lynth blinked. He had forgotten about his desire to return to a mortal form. Before being drawn into the Abyss, he had been searching for a away to remove his vampiric curse. However, recent events had made him slightly more attached to that aspect of his being. Resistance and quick healing that came with the vampirism had proven invaluable in the Abyss, and most likely would do so again and again. Only decapitatoin and a blow through the heart could kill him, and he could summon armor to protect his body from such wounds. The sunlight of course was another great problem, but one he was willing to deal with at the moment.
"I might," he began. "However, not at this time. The abilites that come with the disease have helped me greatly thus far, and i believe that I will keep them until I become strong enough to function without them. However, please remember the man. I will most likely need to see him sooner or later."
Aether Draka - November 6, 2008 02:50 PM (GMT)
She felt her spirits lift when he chuckled and with his reply she felt much better about the entire situation. She was smiling again and nodded. “We'll deal with this being who used not only you, but the guild first then. We should not have to suffer the wrath of all those good in Imythess without even getting anything out of the deal.”
She tucked a stray braid behind her ear, her fingers brushing the tattoo behind her ear and activating it. She then let herself settle on a weightless seat in the air. “The sun should be down by now, the fog here looks darker. I can check if you would like though.” She was glad that Lynthaer had found his way back to Imythess, back again. Nothing seemed able to keep him down, not even death or the Abyss itself. She was thrilled by this. It was, to her eyes, like he was practically immortal. It was like she didn't have to fear loosing him, though that would never stop her from being there to help keep him among them.
She let her feet swing under her a moment on her invisible perch and she grinned at him. “I don't plan of going back to Taras again, for a little while at least. There's a refugee camp not far from the runes and from what I heard last, the Ex-Goddesses Veronna and Ornell are there. They are the only two Goddesses that seem to have survived the disappearance of all the Gods and Goddesses. I don't think they have divine powers, but that they survived means something I'm sure...” Her feet stopped swinging and she tipped her head slightly to the right. “So will I see you in Cascadia then?” Her tone was eager and expectant. She wanted to be sure.
Lynthaer Golthry - November 11, 2008 08:17 PM (GMT)
"OH, there will be little doubt of you seeing me in Cascadia." He said, his smile returning. "The problem is not being seen by everyone else. But yes, I will be there when I am finished with my business in Taras." And with Veronna and Ornell if he could arrange it. Two deities that had survived the catastrophe was a chance gather knowledge. Either one may hold information on the being, and without there powers, Lynthaer wouldn't hesitate to choke it out of them. No doubt they were still formidable, but the huge loss of that godlike energy they once had might still have them in shock.
Lynthaer turned his gaze upwards, observing the darkened sky. This would be the best time for him to travel, as he could only fly by night. "Do you need a way to get to Cascadia before I go?" he asked, his eyes still on the sky. He could no doubt get her there before the sun rose, and one day asleep would give him enough energy to find food and to fly to Taras the next day. Perhaps it would take two, but he did not see any other reason to deny her an easy way to her destination.
Aether Draka - November 12, 2008 12:17 AM (GMT)
Aether Draka felt relived and back at ease, it was like... like she didn't have to worry so much about things anymore. It was easy enough to find out about things but she never felt she could do much of anything on her own. She was smiling still, almost grinning like an idiot because not only was Lynthaer back, he hadn't meant for things to happen like they had. On top of all that, they were going to do something about it. That meant that what she had been telling the rest of the guild was right.
She really had no need to get a ride from him. She could shadow jump where ever she wanted to. Well, anywhere she had been before at least. AD didn't want to turn down the invitation though. It was after all her curiosity and question about his wings that had been the start of their friendship. And even if the rest of the world thought that he was to blame for Taras, she wasn't about to let him become their target. Ignorance had been the cause for his problems before and it was the same thing now, at least in AD's mind. Besides, she could always help keep the sunlight at bay with shadows. She had done it before after all. Hopping off her inviable seat was as easy as canceling the spell. Her answer was completely honest. “Not particularly, but if your offering to fly me there, I would never turn you down.”
Lynthaer Golthry - November 15, 2008 01:42 AM (GMT)
Lynthaer smiled as he watched the sky. He knew of Aether's teleporting ability ability. Like his own, it created a gateway through planes, or so he thought. He could walk through flame and teleport if need be, and he knew that she had a knack for materializing out of the shadows. However, her accepting his offer meant that he was forgiven. Or he hoped so at least. Slowly, he began to will his core down to a reasonable temperature. No need to roast AD while she rode.
"Well, the sun is still far from rising, and I believe I can beat the damnable thing to Cascadia. If not...I can probably find another way back from death. Wasn't too hard the last time." Death was not that frightening any way. Plus, if it came to that, he would warn Aether. She would no doubt be able to transport her self to Cascadia from that point, and Lynthaer could enter the Plane of Fire and search for a place sheltered from the suns light.
Smiling, he knelt down, and put his hands on the ground as if he was swearing allegiance. Facing Aether, he nodded. "Hop on, and we'll see exactly how fast the sun can go."
Aether Draka - November 15, 2008 07:07 AM (GMT)
Aether Draka shook her head at his reference to the sun's light. "I wouldn't worry about the sun Lynthaer." She grinned at him. "I have a good spell that grants a darkness even the sun's light can't penetrate." AD assured him as she took those few steps between him and her. Without any hesitation, she did as he asked. He was still warm to the touch, but not hot.
It made her feel better and more sure of herself to know that he was back and that he knew what was happening. The last thing she wanted was for something to happen simply because he had been unaware. AD braced herself for him taking flight, the feeling of his wing beats, even if he was undead, was still raw power. In her mind, he would always be more powerful just because of that one fact. Just like he would remain her best friend because he had never once harmed her. She didn't think to bring up her thoughts on his demonic infusion or her own demonic side surfacing while he was gone, and she didn't recall at that time in order to tell him it had been her who had spared the library from destruction. They were things that hadn’t come to mind after all.
"Welcome back Lynthaer." she said softly, more to herself then to him, but there was little doubt that he had heard her.
Lynthaer Golthry - November 15, 2008 07:56 PM (GMT)
Lynthaer waited patiently as Aether clambered up his back. The fact that she had spells to shield was comforting, but he would still fly fast. He had not flown through clean air for months, on the rancid air of. He heard AD when she spoke, and his smile grew wider. It felt good to be welcomed back into a world where he did not have to make people fear him, where most who knew of him already did.
He felt AD adjust herself, and felt her tensing. At that, Lynthaer commanded own muscle to contract, raising his wings, and bringing him to a crouch. Then, in a fluid motion lasting fractions of a second, Lynthaer beat his wings down and launched himself upward. The ground fell away as Lynth continuously pounded his wings, driving himself upward, against the pull of the earth. His eyes shined brighter, and he had put out a little extra effort to keep his core down, as not to cook his passenger. The air was cool, and continued to cool as he rose higher. When he finally reached an altitude at which he could comfortably fly, he leveled his body off, becoming parallel with the ground below.
Wind in his face, Lynthaer looked towards the horizon...and quickly realized he had lost his sense of direction in his stay in the abyss. Chuckling, he called out to AD. "My apologies, but I seem to have forgotten which way Cascadia lies. Would you mind steering me a bit?"

She felt her heart leap as Lynthaer did and the power behind his wing beats made her catch her breath, like it did from the first time. Flight, the defiance of the earth itself. She closed her eyes as they passed above the mists. Looking down she saw the hills of mist spread out below them like a thick blanket. She looked up to the sky next. The stars here were so very different then the ones she grew up with, but she had been in Imythess long enough to find the north star. She smiled when she found it and shook her head. Just because she knew where to find the north star didn’t mean that she knew how to get to Cascadia from here. She reached in her pouch for Turin and the tiny fly dragon flew out, already awake.
“We are heading to Cascadia. What’s the best way from here Turin?” She asked the fly dragon. The small creature zipped around them to get his bearings. Then the little copper colored fly dragon zipped off in one direction. Less then a moment later he zipped back and told them both telepathically. “Yep! It’s this way to Cascadia!” He then zipped off that way again, at a speed that Lynthaer could easily follow. “He said it’s that way.” AD said, pointing after Turin because she didn’t know that he had spoken to both of them.
