Title: Thief's Luck
Description: OPEN
Pattin Lightfoot - August 12, 2008 11:13 PM (GMT)
Pattin hummed a tune as he walked innocently, hand stuffed into his pockets. His vest-like jacket hung loosely, tied together with a bit of leather. Pattin stopped humming as he caught a pillar of smoke rising in a break in the treetops. He frowned as he thought. Bandits? With a camp filled with gold and shiny objects, just sitting for the taking on some table like a pedestal.
He took his hands out of his pockets and his fingers wiggled, riches overload. The halfling pulled his hat low, making a couple locks of hair rise. He smiled mischievously and darted from tree to tree, surprisingly quick for one his size.
He was nearing the source of the fire and heard chopping sounds. He frowned. Bandits didn't cut wood. That should have been his first sign. But no. He continued sneaking, looking as he got closer. Sure enough, they weren't bandits. A group from Norwood sent to chop wood for fires and building, maybe?
No matter. They had to keep their valuables somewhere. They were out and about, so they'd have gold. But they were doing hard work, so they wouldn't have it on them for security reasons. So they had to be in camp somewhere.
Pattin smiled as he skirted the cam, keeping just out of sight. The halfling ran into a tent as their backs were turned and searches hopefully. Sure enough, a small pouch of gold sat in his hands a moment later., victoriously, he stood from the messy pile. At that moment, a lumberjack walked into the tent and saw him with the gold in hand. 'Thief!' he shouted.
In seconds, Pattin had cracked his head with his mace and run off sweating, deep into the forest. He tripped on a root and bit his lip, grunting as his ankle was sprained.

Ashley was a nymph. A woman of the forest and tree's. Her own tree was the Ash tree. She was connected in a magcial way to this tree, it gave her power and she took her life and energy from the tree. Her eyes green as the broad leaves, hair brown as the bark on the trunk, her skin a light shade of golden brown from the sun rays, her body lean as the twigs that sprouted from the trunk.
Today Ashley sat atop a high tree branch her long leg dangleing lazily, her clothes made of leaves, intracatly kept together by spider silk. She spoke with the winds and played with the wolves. For now however she just sat relaxing, wishing, longing, lusting after an adventure.
As she was thinking and reading about this a very short man ran beneith the tree that held her, then stopped, holding his ankle as if it were a great pain. A laugh escaped her pink lips. Nymphs were creatures that took joy in live, and were quite the tease. He did look rather funny from her hight, very short and now in a ball, almost like a bug. Antoher laughed escaped her lips and she bent down so that her stomach was on the branch and her legs and arms dangled freely.
On the ground she spied a lost golden coin not far from him. She gingerly escaped her tree, and snatched up the golden coin making enough nosie so he would turn, and only see a blurr but see her none the less. Again she laughed and climbed back into the tree and sat on the branch.

Pattin groaned, holding his ankle tenderly he grunted as he moved under a tree, leaning against it's trunk as he sat there. He looked around, not seeing anything or anybody after him. A gold coin sat on the ground, glinting, and he reached for it. Before he reached it, it was snatched up by a blur. He snapped his hand back and looked around.
Passing it off as a side effect from the pain, he rested his head against the tree, looking up as he did so. His heart skipped a beat as he saw a girl there. He shouted in alarm and tried to stand, sending a wave of pain through his leg.
Pattin plopped back down as he rubbed his sprained ankle, looking at the woman. She had the coin! Pattin waited a moment for her to speak before doing so himself. He could see she was a nymph, that much was obvious. “So nymph. Do you plan on helping a poor halfling in need or sit there and smile cutely?”
He straightened his hat.

Ashley laughed once more then fell freely so only her legs held her up on the branch. She now looked at him from an upside down view, her long brown hair flowing like the sea as she fell.
"Uhm I have yet to decide, you see other than binding it with what I have I do not belive I could help you very much. On the other hand it would be nice to help, but how do I know your not some phyco killing vamipre!!!" She said a hint of adventure in her eye, well more adventure and very little fear. "Soo...." She began to conclude as she climbed back up the tree, and slowly back down so she was leaning up agasint the tree. "as you can see I'm tied."
((sorry 4 the short post like I said at work))

Pattin laughed a little, more of a huff than anything genuinely cheerful. He looked around for something to wrap it in, then muttered to himself, finding a burlap sack buried halfway in the dirt. He pulled it free and shook it out, grumbling about helplessness and magical beings.
Pattin picked up a stick and clenched it between his teeth, biting down on it hard as he bound the ankle. It straightened out and he tied it off, glaring at the girl all the while. Taking two sticks, he made himself a crude splint. He looked up at the girl and sighed.
“You know, I'd love an adventure, but it appears when I'm in need of assistance, that sort of goes out the window.” He said, eyebrow cocked. He studied the girl, usual charm of nymphs not really having a hold over the halfling.
He sighed once more, quite a dramatic fellow. “besides.” he said “do I look anything like any of those?” He said smartly, waving a hand over himself. He had a little belly on him, had a little hat, and a somewhat clean shirt.
((note he's like a midget cabbie. XD))

(( well if you ahd done with the other dude he would not be would he? :P ))
Ashley took a seat on the floor, she felt towering and extrodinarily lanky. She was already rather long but she didnt like feeling lanky. So she sat down on the ground the leaves of her dress crunching as she did so. "Wouldnt we all love an adventure? however they are very hard to come by." A grin appeared on her face. "What are you lifting only one eye brow at me for. Just to show off?" She said with a smile.
Ashley scrutinized him. Yes, he was not lying to her. So she shruged it off not wanting to be rude then crossed her legs and bent forward so her forehead touched the ground. Then after a moment or two she came back up from her refreshing streatch. "But that is why some write, kids pretned, so you can atleast pretnd you ave some adventure. Makes life bareable." She said with a wink.

“Oh, it's quite obvious I'm showing off. Such a display of pure and wondrous talent should have left me on a stage! Not in pockets.” He laughed, wondering if she could not. “Why? Can you not do so?” He frowned. “I'm even starting to talk like you.”
Pattin looked at her hopelessly. “Yes. And some steal. And some kill. And others write poetry. In my eyes, it's all the same. A means to and end.” He said. “The end, of course being money. Always. Money.” He laughed jovially.
Looking at the nymph he groaned. “Are you going to come down here or just cramp my neck, woman?” He said, rubbing the muscles in his neck. They really were sore now.
ashnymph - August 14, 2008 03:41 PM (GMT)
Ashley disregarded his commenet about perking one eye brow. She could do it if she put her mind ot it and even then it didnt go up very far. But who did she have to perk eye brows to? So it was the lack of practice. "I rub off on some people I guess, and you arent talking like me." She said jumping down from the branch and sitting crosslegged on the ground.
"Humm...I happen to disagree. Some kill for the pure pleasure of it, others write poetry ot escape this world, and others sit by and watch it all happen, not just for money." She said. "So." She concluded with a smile. "I may have to disagree."
Aslhey laughed. "Are you happy now? I'm down here, on the ground where you can see me!" She said liting up her arms as if she were a side show.

Pattin chuckled, shaking his head a little at her comments. “Yet money is what the world revolves on. Without money you are a nothing, nobody, sitting in the streets begging for scraps. At least a thief get exactly what he wants.” He winked at her, holding up the money purse.
“And what could you possibly find interesting about sitting back and watching everything go by around you? Don't you ever have an adventurous urge, a need for travels and action? Surely you do.” He shook his head. “Gods know i'd die if I sat around too much.”
Pattin laughed. “Aye, I am. Nice of you to do so. Better sittin next to yer than hurtin me neck, I suppose.” He shrugged.
ashnymph - August 14, 2008 04:59 PM (GMT)
Ashley nodded. "With that I agree, money is what the world revolves around. It does come in handy." She said placing the gold coin on the top of her head an balancing it there.
A laugh escaped Ashley's lips. "I dont sit back, in fact I can bearly sit still. I want adventure maybe more than anything." She said with a sad look on her face. "But that kind of thing is only in books, I havent come up against a seductive vampire, an evil deamon, nada. But I suppose, no one would bother with a tree nymph." She said shrugging her shoulders, causing the coin on her head to fall. She caught it in her hands.
Ashley shifted her position so she was sitting on the back of her legs. "Well I wasnt that high up, but I'm sorry I didnt mean to hurt you."
