Title: Searching in the Cave?
Description: P Melmoth
DornKoon - July 31, 2008 07:34 PM (GMT)
A man walked into the cavern, it was nothing very special about him, he was dressed in a brown tunic, white pants, he had a leather belt and a sword hanging from his back. His hair was blond and the eyes green. He did not look around when he walked, suddenly another creature arrived from out of the shadows. It was a short Drow, very shorter then any other of there kind "You there" it said, the man stopped and looked at the short man. "Yes" he asked calmly, "can I help you with anything stranger?"
"What are you doing in this place?"
The man thought for a moment, then he smiled. "Well I can put it like this, donīt you care about it mister, or you might hurt yourself badly"
The drows face turned red with rage. "How dare you speak to me like that you little brat!" he shouted and grabbed the hilt to his ax. The man watched him for a moment, then he began to laugh. This made the drow even more angry, he quickly charged towards the stranger.
The young man stepped out of the way and pulled out his own sword, then he pointed it towards the dwarf, there was a large bang, a large cloud of dust and a flash of light, a massive bolt of energy flew out of the blade towards the dwarf, everything became very silent and when the dust was gone there was nothing more left of the dwarf then a pile of ash.
The man walked and looked down at it, then he laughed again. "Fool to think he would dare go again me, This costume is very good, but I wont need it anymore"
He raised his arms and a cloud of black smoke covered the boys body, the shadow of the person inside began to change and with a flash of dark energy the boy was gone, in his place was now a tall woman with dark brown hair and golden eyes, a pair of black feather wings grew out from her back, Alice calmly brushed some dust of her red dress, then she began to walk further into the cave. She had been here so many times but never had she seen a Drow like that one....something was going on down here...there was a legend about something that could be hidden inside of this place...could that be the reason why the Drow was here? Well she was soon going to find out about it anyway.
Melmoth - August 1, 2008 03:00 AM (GMT)
Melmoth had heard tales of the crystal caves of Memphian falls. One of the men in his ring of informants had unearthed a rumor that there was a special area of the caves that had crystals that lengthened the lifespan of the holder. Such a possibility, however remote, could not be ignored for long. He'd not live forever, and he was already beyond what most mortals made it to, but if he could harvest this crystal room, perhaps synthisize their magical properties...
But he was rushing ahead of himself. He hadn't even entered the cave system, much less aquired samples. He bowed his head for a moment and let the breeze at the top of the falls play across him. His hair rippled, his clothes flapped, and his floppy hat even blew off. It hit the ground, rolled, and faded from existance ten feet from him. He was continually amazed by his ring. He had to think of the form when he configured it, but afterwards it took care of things like wind without him having to think of it.
He smiled, snugged his ring on tighter, and lept from the top of the falls.
~ ~ ~
He raised himself out of the pool in the massive chamber, and looked about. The cave looked normal, if with fewer crystals than he had expected. He took a small bag off his belt and made for a particularly promising cluster of crystals, but stumbled slightly on the way. He looked down to see he had walked through a pile of ash or soot. Someone had camped here it seemed, despite what had to be bad conditions for ventilation. He shrugged, threw a few crystals in the bag, and made off for the next chamber.
DornKoon - August 1, 2008 12:06 PM (GMT)
Alice walked deeper down into the cavern, she was in no hurry and her phase was slow, she stopped a little now and then to examine a few rocks. But she never stayed for very long. It was a beautiful place this cave, she had been here many times before when she wanted to be alone. She calmly stretched out her black wings as she was walking. The sorceress yawned slightly and moved her hair in behind her ears, she was getting closer to the most deep part of the area now, she had never been deeper then that. This might be the time to go further then before? She smiled slightly and picked up a crystal as she walked past it, she held it in her hand for a while but then she dropped it again.
She stopped when she suddenly heard a sound from the area behind her, the demoness calmly looked over her shoulder but she did not see anything right away, the sound must have been from further up the cave...was it more diggers that was going to try and kill her? Well they where sure welcome to try if they wanted. Alice was not afraid of much in this world, she had seen the oddest things in her time in the abyss. She also had worked with many dark magic users before. She stood still for a few seconds and then she shook her head slightly. The lady turned around and was just about to keep walking when she heard steppes, someone was coming closer. Alice frowned and turned back towards the sound, better she waited for whoever it was then to run away.
Melmoth - August 3, 2008 01:14 AM (GMT)
A very short drow hit the cavern floor and bled its life upon the stone. Above it, Melmoth wiped off his glass dagger and marveled at how sharp the blade was. He had cut in far deeper than he had planned to and nearly reached the spine with barely any effort. Throat cutting had never been easier.
The question of why there were drow in this place bothered him greatly, however. Drow were by now means pushovers, and he had only been able to sneak up on this one because of his shadowdancer abilitiy to hide in plain sight. If it had friends... If they were after his crystals... He considered a moment and marked all drow in the cave system for death. They were of little use to him for what he wanted anyway.
He silently approached a curve in the tunnel ahead, and slowly peeked around. Startled, he disappeared into the shadows and silently contemplated the sight before him. Alice of the Divschatten stood in the tunnel and looked his way. What in the hell was such a- He stopped himself and tried to cool his temper. The prissy little infused was not to his liking, sure, but she was a guild member and deserved some respect. She might be able to read minds too...
He moved from the shadows and revealed himself to her. He was in his human illusion as always, but she would know him. What she would do was something he could not forsee, and would leave up to fate.
Erin Shander - August 3, 2008 02:00 AM (GMT)
Alice tilted her head to the side and watched the man coming towards her, at first she did not see who it was but he was familiar, but when he came closer she noticed that it was Melmoth. "My my, Melmoth" she said with a slight smile and examined him calmly as he walked towards her. "Iīm surprised to see you in a place like this one dear. I have not seen you since...I think it was Cascadia was it not? That part thing they had there or something" why was he here anyway? Could it be for the same reason as her and most likely the drows? Well only time would tell that tale for sure and she was in no hurry as it was now.
The lady tilted her head to the side as she was looking at the demonic infused. "No need to be afraid I will charm you dear, I have no interest in doing so against you." because your so boring. But this she just thought inside of her head and nothing was shown on the outside was she was thinking. She made a pause and then she knew something she would ask "So Melmoth darling, why are you in a place like this anyway? No donīt tell me, let me guess, your here because of the mysterious magic that is said to be in these crystals? Tell me I hit the spot?" she grinned slightly but it was nothing threatening about the grin, she was simply grinning.
((Wrong account...sorry, but hey it is still me anyway. :P ))
Melmoth - August 3, 2008 02:30 AM (GMT)
Melmoth grinned a perfect match to Alice, and bowed deeply. He was human for now, and his alter ego came upon him full force. "Nowhere near as surprised as me, I'd wager." It was damp and dirty in here, how on earth did she manage the willpower to come here? These crystals must be as powerfull as he'd heard.
"I am, of course, here for the crystals. If what they say is true..." He could barely keep himself still. He wanted those crystals and he wanted the now. If he had known of these years ago he would've plundered the place and kept it all to himself. Now, though, it looked like he would be sharing.
"These drow, why are they here, in so bright a place? It's dim by our standards, yes, but to those who dwell in the darkness beneath this would be something..." He was at a loss for words, and threw up his hands in frustration. "I don't know. It's far too bright here. Are they here for the crystals as well?" He assumed the little elves were, but wanted to see how Alice replied more than anything. What did she know of the crystals, the cave, and the drow?
(my post is short... T.T)
DornKoon - August 7, 2008 10:39 PM (GMT)
Alice listened to him as he was talking, her gaze moved around the cave for a moment and she examined the walls around them. "I thought as much, weird how words have a way to spread around these days" she said with a thoughtful voice and picked up a small crystal from the ground, her eyes examined it for a moment and then she turned back to look at Melmoth. "People say so much, I was unsure what to think about it really when I first came to this place. But as you just asked, why are the drow here? That made me think that there has to be a reason why they of all people is in this place...digging around." she shook her head and dropped the crystal to the ground and it created a slight echoing sound when it hit the rocky ground.
Alice was still looking at Melmoth with her golden eyes, "The possibility that they are here because of the crystals is extremely high my dear Melmoth, I would be very surprised if there was another reason." she laughed slightly and moved some hair from her face. "I have to say this is much more interesting then what I had thought it would be, even more to see that someone from my own...family arrived to the scene out of nowhere. Intriguing actually."
indeed it was starting to be interesting, Melmoth was not going to be a problem, he was a part of the guild and there was a curtain honor not to kill your allies, yes they where demons and could kill most things but Alice did not like to kill other demons...well she could use them for her own pleasure but that was not to kill....most demons did not even have to be charmed to give her what she wanted.
Melmoth - August 10, 2008 10:14 PM (GMT)
He took amoment to consider her words and found that she had said little of actual use. The suspicion that they were after the crystals was most likely true untill more evidence appeared, but for the momment it was just supposition. He wanted facts, and the only way he saw to get those was through asking a drow or seeing what they were doing for himself.
Asking a drow was out of the question for him at the moment. He had neither time nor a well prepared dungeon, but perhaps Alice could get one of the reluctant underworld elves to spill their story? He could always be the sneaky rouge he wanted to be and find out for himself if the prissy infused was reluctant to try her games with the black elves.
"Not too interesting, I hope. I would've prefered a little more boredom in my trip here. Dark Elves are no joke."
From the stories he'd heard, they ranked up near demons in personality and fighting prowess. Compared to the surface races, anything that came out of the underdark was far more of a threat. Something to do with the abundance of monsters and hellish conditions in contrast to the small furry woodland creatures and pleasant afternoons. Definitely no laughing matter.
He told Alice of his plan to find out for certain what the Drow were doing in the caves, and asked if she'd interrogate a drow using her special charms. It would save time if they could capture one, and possibly his neck as well.
(ooc - bah, you know my plan, so why write dialouge for it?)
DornKoon - August 11, 2008 10:03 AM (GMT)
Alice listened to him as he was talking, the sorceress calmly raised an eyebrow but she did not say anything to comment at first. He had always been a little odd that Melmoth. But a guess was that it was the way he worked, not much to do about that. She turned her gaze down the cave as she heard something, her face was still calm and something that looked like a smile crossed her face for a second before she looked back at Melmoth. The demoness examined him for a moment. "Now I never said it was a joke" she commented and shook her head. She knew very well that the dark elfs was nothing to be taken lightly, but that made things so more interesting.
The woman turned away and slowly began to walk down deeper into the cave, she listened to Melmoth`s suggestion and a she thought about it for a moment before she replied. "Well I see nothing wrong with the ide" she began and placed one hand on her cheek as she was talking. "One can say much about these people, that there powers and strength and great. But they are somehow easier to charm then the surface people because of there nature and faith. I will have no problem with doing so, we just have to find one to focus on, I could of course charm many at the same time. But that would take much more time, best with just one this time." she lowered her hand and examined her fingers for a moment, then she looked at Melmoth with her golden eyes. "But we might have the bad luck to run into a woman and then my powers will be useless...I sure hope you know how to charm a lady." she grinned slightly as she said this, showing all her perfect teeth.
Melmoth - August 11, 2008 08:51 PM (GMT)
Why do they always take my words literally?
He shook his head and rubbed his eyes with his fingers. He felt a headache coming on, due in no small part to Alice. She had a way of bugging the hell out of him no matter how he did things. Alice on one side, drow on the other, and him in between? Not how he wanted to spend his day.
"Just a saying..."
He ran his hand down and off his face, continually surprised that he could feel such small sensations without scales. He looked ahead and followed Alice, listening to her all the while. She'd do it, it seemed, if they came upon a male drow, but expected him to do the same for a female if they came upon one first.
He snorted and pointed at his face. "I'm not really suited for charming." His face was far from attractive, and looked like it had been left out in the sun too long and dried into leather. It helped him sometimes, usually by keeping people unaware of his true form, but for attractiveness it failed hard. He didn't have the time to reconfigure the ring either, so he was stuck as his ugly self.
"Are you sure you can't charm women as well as men? I'm not really looking forward to killing every drow I see untill I happen to find a male." He ducked a low hanging part of the passage and sped up even with Alice. Walking behind sucked.
DornKoon - August 11, 2008 09:13 PM (GMT)
Alice walked and did not say anything for a moment, then she sighed and turned her gaze to look at Melmoth. "Firstly Melmoth, I see nothing wrong with the way you look" she said calmly. "Why you think I tried to charm you when we meet the first time? Because you looked bad?" she made a pause and ran a hand though her hair as she gathered her thought. "Well I could charm a woman to, but to do that is a little harder then with men, no offense" she grinned slightly at him when she said this. "IF we should run into a woman then I will do what I can to prevent us from killing more of them if we donīt have to."
She made a pause and looked at the man for a second before she said anything else. "Okey, I know we have our problems, I can tell what you think about me, and what I thin about you." she slowly shook her head. "Our problem is that we have very different ways to look at the world and we did start of in pretty bad manners before with me trying to charm you and all." she looked forwards again, her eyes scanned the area but she did not hear or see anything so far. The cave made a turn and began to go deeper down, the only light was the once created from the crystals. "We are on the same side, no need for us to be enemies in our own guild Melmoth."
She stopped for a second when she heard something....steppes? The sorceress was not sure if that was the case, could have been falling rocks to. Her golden eyes quickly looked around in the dim light. There was no one close to them as it was now.
Melmoth - August 11, 2008 10:25 PM (GMT)
Why did you try to charm me? Because you like to charm people.
He kept quiet through he speech, slightly annoyed that she'd try a more mundane approach to charming him all the while. Better than her magical attempt, but still... They'd discuss their problems later. For now, he'd watch her as always and consider her a dangerous ally.
Something had spooked her it seemed. She was looking around and... There. Footsteps. He turned to the sound and peered down the tunnel. Drow were usually very quiet from what he knew, but perhaps this was more than one? He fished his Earthmeld Gem out and considered whether this was the best course of action. It was a valuable trinket, he knew, and he didn't trust Alice a bit. She was a guild member and he didn't want her dead just yet either.
He handed it to Alice and quietly told her it would allow her to enter the walls. It was up to her to use it if things went bad and a whole troupe of the black elves were coming for their lost brethren. As for him, he'd be hiding in the shadows untill he knew how things were going to go.
He pressed himself against a wide spot in the tunnel and let the shadowdancer trance slip over him. He faded into the shadows and quietly watched the world around him.
DornKoon - August 12, 2008 09:11 AM (GMT)
Alice looked at Melmoth when he gave her the gem, that was a surprise to her. Did he care or was it just a trick from his side? She did not know for sure, but he was a dangerous person, but he was not going to be that forever. The sorceress walked to a place where she could have good vision, she did not use the gem yet since that would be a waste, they did not know what was coming. Suddenly she got an ide that could work well in there favor.
She raised her arm slightly and suddenly her appearance began to change, her hair changed color and became darker, her eyes changed to. Her dress was transformed into the black clothes the typical once of the dark elfs. The hood was hidding her face, that way she could make sure if it was a man or a woman that would come and change herself after that. She hoped that Melmoth would understand her ide, he was not stupid after all and Alice knew this.
Now she could hear the steeps come closer, then they stopped for a moment and they could hear a voice that said something. Alice guessed that they had found the dead body, she calmly began to examine the wall as if she was looking for something. Soon the steeps came closer again, the sorceress moved her gaze so that she would see things better and soon the dark elf arrived to there part of the cave, he was tall and dressed in a black tunic and black cloak, his eyes was red and glowed slightly in the weak light from the crystals. One could see that he had some kind of armor under the tunic, two sabers was hanging from his belt.
The mans phase was quick but calm, his eyes moved calmly from one side of the cave to another until he noticed Alice in her disguise. The drow stopped as he arrived to her, Alice smiled behind the hood, it was a man.
"You there" the man said, Alice gussed that by the sound of his voice he was some kind of captain. She turned around and looked at him. "Yes sir?" she asked, her voice sounded a little different now. "Have you seen anything out of the ordinary?" he asked. Alice thought for a second what she would reply to this. "Well sir, I did just come to this area a moment ago. I was in a group deeper down."
The drow watched her carefully, he looked very suspicious. "Hmmm...I donīt think I have seen any orders that anyone was going to be in this area. Show me your face"
Alice nodded, this was it. She raised her arms and calmly lowered the hood. She now looked like a young drow female with black hair and red eyes. At the moment when the hood feel she activated her charming ability with full force at the unprepared dark elf. His suspicious gaze slowly changed to the one of attraction. He swallowed a few times, Alice tilted her head to the side and watched him. She slowly moved close to him until she was right in front of the tall man, he did not move and she could feel a slight shiver in his body when she came closer. Men.....so typical.
But she was not done and she calmly raised her hand and placed it on his cheek, then she used a magic she had not used for a while, the modify memory spell, the demoness slowly began to alter a few of his memories, she placed an image of Melmoth in them as a powerful demon lord that had a joined work with her and herself as an inspector from the higher ups and a lover to the man of course. The memory with the dead man was removed to.
When she was done she lowered her hand and brushed some dust of her robe, then she stretched her back. The man looked at her for a moment and then he smiled and gave her a kiss on the hand. "Milady, so nice to see you again. I did not see you there." his gaze moved around and then back to Alice. "But where is the demon lord I heard you where working with?"
She waved her hand slightly to show Melmoth that he could come out, she hoped that the titled of demon lord would make him happier. If something could make him happy.
Melmoth - August 12, 2008 09:46 PM (GMT)
Very strange. He'd never seen Alice's powers at work before, not in a successful way, and the way she had the man wrapped around her finger surprised him. He didn't understand where the "Demon Lord" bit came from, but assumed there was more going on than he had seen. He understood death, destruction, and various ways of achieving those ends. This subtle magic was beyond him.
He almost started when she signaled for him to leave the shadows. He couldn't leave like this, he still appeared human. Reaching for his ring would disturb the trance and reveal him to the drow. He figured he had a more impressive way of doing things, that would give Alice her "Demon Lord".
He felt a chill as he invoked one of his more powerfull Shadowdancer abilities. From the shadows in which he stood, a monstrous shape began to form and stepped into the light. His shadow illusion stood, a black as night copy of a pit fiend. It's outline was blurred as the illusion seemed to smoke, and it obviously was not solid. Holes where it's eyes and mouth were supposed to be let the dim light filter through. Hopefully it would pass as a shadow demon.
"Human, remember?" a shadow in Alice's ear whispered. "Lead him where you will, I'll follow."
For now, he'd let the shadow serve as his Avatar. It and Alice would serve to keep the drow occupied so it didn't see Melmoth sneaking along behind, most likely in full demon form by then. If fighting broke out, then it would distract his enemies so he could manuver.
(ooc - *thwarts Dorn's plans at every step. revels in shadow avatar.* ;) )
DornKoon - August 13, 2008 08:47 AM (GMT)
Alice heard his voice and sighed calm ly to herself, well a shadow avatar would have to do then. She smiled at it and then she looked back at the man. He looked very impressed by the size of the demonic creature. Alice acted quickly but calmly. "But let`s get to business then, that is why I am here after all" she said and the man looked at her, he watched her for a moment and by the eyes he wanted more then just to talk. The sorceress raised an eyebrow, no nothing like that now. She was going to show Melmoth that she could take things serious. "I was just lucky that I got this job, since I could see you that way. But to be serious now, I was sent her to inspect your work in the cave. But to be honest with you I lied to the leaders when they asked if I knew about the work you did down here....a small lie just to see you"
The man laughed slightly and shook his head. "My, I would have thought so then" he said. Alice giggled slightly and then she moved some hair from her face. "But I still need to inspect your work here of course, but first there is something I need to know....what in the world are you doing in this place? Itīs a so light...and bright" she shivered slightly as she looked around on the glowing crystals. The dark elf laughed again. "I understand how you feel about it, I feel the same myself"he made a pause to look around for a second and then he looked back at Alice. "Well the crystals in this place is said to have mysterious powers and that is why we are here...to harvest that power, but it is only rumorers and I myself donīt think there is anything to powerful with these rocks, they do glow but thatīs about it if you ask me"
Alice listened to him and then she nodded slightly. "I see, well now I know what to inspect then" she grinned slightly at him and it made him smile. So they had been right, the drow was here for the crystals after all. "So then I will start by asking a few things" she began with a calm voice. "How is the work going so far?"
The man thought for a second before he replied. "Well we have had a few problems with the walls of the cave falling in and things like that...but it was nothing big, we have gathered much interesting crystals but have not found anything to special about them so far."
The sorceress nodded. "I see, so how many people are you down here?" she watched him carefully, by the look in his eyes he was still in her grip and he wanted her like mad. That was as it should be then.
He began to count in his fingers and muttered lowly to himself, "well there are two men on the upper side of the cave and Iīm sure you walked past them on your way down, then itīs me and two more in the mid section, two after that in the lower section and then another elite warrior like me patrolling down there. So we are eighth.
Alice nodded slightly, but he was wrong, they where eighth, but at least one was dead so far.
Melmoth - August 14, 2008 01:13 AM (GMT)
Seven-ish drow left? He'd expected a score or more of the warriors. That many he could take if he did it right. Drow were good, but with blades, Melmoth was as good as any man alive, if not better.
"Your information has been most appreciated," the shadow avatar slowly spoke. As it went on, Melmoth quietly drew Fate from it's scabbard, using the avatar's voice to cover the noise. "but you are no longer needed."
Melmoth stepped forward quickly through the shadow avatar and plunged Fate into the unsuspecting drow's throat. He waited a moment, and jerked to the side, ripping Fate out of the drow's neck before the body even began to fall. He pushed it against the wall and quietly eased it to the ground, being carefull not to let his equipment make any noise.
The avatar faded from view and Melmoth turned to Alice from his position crouched in front of the dead drow. "Six now, with the one I killed, and one somewhere behind us. I'm going hunting, whether or not these crystals are powerfull. Will you be coming along, on the off chance that you find something the drow missed??
He halfway hoped she would. Her talents were not in the physical realm, and thus gave her different insights on the world around her. He suspected she knew a little magic, and would rather have someone to counter any wizards the drow had brought along.
DornKoon - August 14, 2008 10:35 AM (GMT)
Alice smiled slightly when Melmoth began to speak, she watched as the avatar walked past the man and then when suddenly the real Melmoth arrived and killed the drow with a quick attack she giggled lowly and took a steep backwards so that she would avoid to get blood on her dress. She tilted her head to the left and watched the dead body, then she looked at the demon when he began to talk to her. She smiled at him. "Why Melmoth, I would not want to miss this for all the gold in the world, if they do have missed something then we will make sure to find it" she said calmly and brushed some crystal dust from the skirt of her dress as she was talking.
She moved her gaze up and down the cavern, and she thought for a moment. "I think we both thought they was going to be many more, I was very surprised about that...but better be careful, remember that he only talked about the dark elfs, we have no ide if one of them are necromancers or warlocks." she placed one hand on her cheek as she was thinking. "If that is the case then things could get....messy" She went thought some of the most dangerous spells she thought the drow might use often, dark magic was very common in there ranks. Undeads was no problem against Alice, with her magic stone no undead could come close to her.
She knew that Melmoth`s knowledge in the art of magic was limited and he was more of a close-combat fighter then a wizard. The sorceress would have to keep a close eye on what magics the enemies was using and warn her guild brother in time if it was something deadly. "Well shall we proceed then?" she asked and made a slight motioned with her hand.
Melmoth - August 15, 2008 02:29 AM (GMT)
Messy? Good. If there were a few non-drow minions below, then all the better. If not, then it would be an easy run through them all, and nowhere near as fun.
"Fighters in front, then."
He lead off down the tunnel and turned his ring off. As he walked, his form slivered and boiled off. In the space of three strides he was fully appearing as his demonic infused self. It really served no purpouse, but it felt much better to be able to strech his wings. The drow wouldn't be too afraid, he assumed. They had a history of dealing with things far worse than himself, but he wasn't bound by their magics either.
He turned a bend and saw a glow ahead brightening the tunnel. A quiet voice was heard, speaking to another unseen foe. He crept up to the bend in the tunnel, and waited for Alice to catch up. He listened and wondered. There were two speakers inside the cavern beyond, but something else was there too. Some strange noise sounded occasionally, and something big shifted about.
"What in the nine hells is in there?" A shadow spoke quietly into Alice's ear. He hoped she had the sense not to speak her reply aloud, but merely to understand his confusion.
(ooc - giant cave spider maybe?)
DornKoon - August 15, 2008 09:32 AM (GMT)
Alice nodded as a reply to his first comment about the fighters in the front, the sorceress calmly walked right behind the demon and she watched him as he transformed back into his normal self, she smiled slightly, she could return back to her normal self to if she wanted to do so, but she did not feel like it as it was now. Maybe later.
She walked under silence and her golden eyes calmly moved around the tunnel as they walked though it. The crystals began to change color deeper down, they where darker here and to her this color was more beautiful then the once above.
She to heard the same sounds as Melmoth did and saw the glow ahead, she stopped for a moment and then she moved slowly to the same place as she had seen her demonic ally go. There she stopped and listened to the sounds and the voices. She did hear Melmoth as he was talking from the shadows, but she had no ide what to reply so she simply frowned slightly and motioned with her shoulder that she had no ide what it was. This was starting to be more and more interesting for every day.
The sorceress calmly raised her left hand and made a slight motion with it, to the naked eye nothing happened but she had activated the spell to detect if there any illusions around that could be trying to fool them, she knew that the dark elfs could be tricky when it came to magic. But after a moment of searching she did not find anything that was any illusion at all. That was good. She wished that she could talk to Melmoth with telepathy but she did not have that knowledge yet...something she would have to look into when she came to the outside world again.
((OOC: I have no ide really, I can go with anything. :P More fun that way))
Melmoth - August 15, 2008 05:51 PM (GMT)
He turned around the bend and peeked into the cavern beyond. Two drow stood and quietly talked, one holding a heavy bag of crystals. Light poured forth from the bag's mouth and showed an enormous web consuming the room. The drow had somehow picked their way through the sticky mass of webbing and seemed unconcerned by the gigantic spider hanging in the web above them.
The ancient creature was a deep black, bristling with hairy spines in differing shades. It's eyes spoke of an alien inteligence while it's maw showed evidince of horrific kills. It occasionally made strange clicking noises as it shuffled around inside. The cavern was it's prison as well as it's home, it had long ago grown past being able to fit through the smaller tunnels that branched out from the massive cavern in which it dwelt.
He slowly pulleed his head back out of sight and wondered exactly what he could do to get past the spider. The damn thing was the size of a house. He didn't remember passing any branches in the passages earlier, but perhaps if he scouted back? He shook his head at the cowardly thoughts and inched out into the passageway, hoping his stealth would give him an edge against the unprepared enemies.
He was caught completely off gaurd when several smaller dog sized replicas of the giant spider dropped to the ground in front of him. Fate took the first one, and he leapt back into the tunnel as more of the little horrors dropped around the alerted drow and came for him.
(ooc - fair enough?)

Alice stayed behind when Melmoth peeked into the cave with the spider, she watched the demon but she did not say anything or more, she did not like this feeling she had. Her gaze moved around the tunnel and she just like Melmoth was caught off guard when the smaller spiders arrived, but since they had not really noticed Alice yet they attacked Melmoth firstly.
The sorceress acted with great calmness but still quickly, she raised her hand and snapped a finger, the demoness quickly changed back into her demonic form and the pair of black feathered wings grew out from her back, not as big as Melmoths, but hey he was much bigger then her in general anyways. Her dress grew short and with a darker red color then before. It was more easy to fight in that way...and she looked more attractive to men...but that was not important now.
When she had stretched out her wings for a moment she was ready to fight, her hand moved inside of her dress for a second and then she threw out some kind of white dust at the approaching group of spider, first nothing happened but then it looked like they had a hard time to move there legs in the right way and they all began to trip a little now and then, running into each other or into rocks on the ground.
Alice was happy she could use the magic salt she got before, this was going to be useful to her in the future to.
Alice then pointed with her finger at the drow in the middle of the chamber and energy quickly gathered at the top of her finger, there was a strange sound...like the one of eletisity and a beam of dark energy left her finger straight for the drow that still was surprised with them there. The darkness sent him flying across the chamber floor into a wall, but the sorceress was not sure if the blast had killed him or not. But now was not the time to be slacking of. She need to make a new spell ready and keep fighting.

The little spiders were starting to pile up just inside the tunnel mouth. The arachnids were fast, but whatever Alice had used on them worked wonders on keeping them from going in the right direction. They were a bit less predictable, but when their legs only worked right half the time it was a fair bit easier to kill them, as Fate's bloody length testified.
A black bolt of energy sizzled past him to slam into one of the drow. It flew back, and impacted a wall, but didn't look like it was out yet. He stabbed another tiny spider and looked back over his shoulder at Alice. He wasn't surprised to see her looking more demonic, but unless she had no idea the giant house sized spider was hanging from the ceiling not twenty yards from him, she had no excuse for using powerfull spells. "Save your spells for the spider! That thing's... Look at the bones!"
He turned back to the fight in time to end another motor impaired spider, and point at the masses of webbing beyond. Suspended every so often were corpses of every concievable race Imythess had to offer. Deep in the shadows of the right wall, even more sacks of silk containing unfortunate victims hung in the spider's larder. It was the only section of the room that did not have crystals glowing from it, and he had originally thought it a darkened passage. His eyes had won through in the end, only to spell out their horrible odds.

Alice looked around the chamber and she could see all the bones. Her eyes widened slightly. This place must be ancient, how old was this large creature! How long had it been down in this place?
She looked at Melmoth and then she nodded slightly. She raised her hand and looked around to see what she would find to fire at. She focused her eyes at the large spider....if she could force it down from the celling, that would not only give them a few moments to catch there breath, but it would also crush many of the smaller spiders below. "Letīs force this old lady down to the ground shall we" she said with a low voice and grinned slightly
Alice aimed at the celling above the massive creature and fired of another bolt of dark energy. The energy itself would make the part of the celling the spider was in to fall apart and making it fall down onto the stone floor. This had to be done with great care, she would have to stay away from the webs, not to be cough in one of them...or everything was going to be lost. It was still a few yard away so it would not fall onto them, that was good.
