Finduilas walked slowly through the forest her hands trailing over the many tree trunks as she wondered the trails she had once known by heart. It had been a long time since last the werewolf had been in the forests of Imythess but now that she was back within them she felt at home. A smile spread across her lips as she came to one of the largest oaks in the entire forest and trailed her fingertips over a carving within its trunk. She smiled as she looked at the symbols that were carved into the tree for it was of a heart with a G and an F in the middle. It was the carving that Gibbon had made when he ran with her for the first time while she was in her wolf form. She smiled as she remembered that night it had been a nice one.
Shaking her head she pushed those thoughts away as she had come not to remember the past but to better her future and to work on becoming the best howler she could be. She continued to walk along the forest paths in search of some wildlife that she could possibly try her new found charming abilities on. Soon she came across a pair of wolves with their single pup sitting out before their cave home. She smiled at the little family and sat down against a tree to watch them from a safe distance. All three of them turned to look at her but did nothing more before returning to their playful antics.
Closing her eyes the young werewolf breathed in a large breath of fresh air and concentrated on the wolves before her and began to whisper under her breath,
“Over the hills
Through the valleys
Come to me
My furry friends
Take note of me
And listen to my words
Seek me out
And stay by my side.”
With her little poem said the wolves once again looked up at her and with wagging tails wondered her way. They greeted her with yips of happiness and licks to her face, which she returned in the form of a hug to each. Holding the pup up she smiled at the little red wolf with his bright eyes and fuzzy fur before squeezing him to her chest. “You little one are coming home with me…” she told the pup who at once wagged his tail and licked her face. Laughing happily she snuggled the pup a bit more while watching his parents’ behavior towards her. It was funny even when she had been part of the local wolf pack she had never been greeted so warmly while in her humanoid form. She was impressed with her new abilities and hoped she would be able to master the rest of them and achieve her goal in becoming a fantastic howler.
Standing to her feet after placing the pup down she called his parents over and returned to walking along the paths. One hand rested upon each of the parent’s backs as the wolf pup ran happily ahead of them, sniffing about like a little scout. Laughing at the pup’s silly behaviors she smiled and stroked the ears of the two adult wolves, just enjoying being so close to the creatures again. Seeing the pup duck down a small hill after jumping over a rotting log, Finduilas took off after him. As soon as she jumped over the log she tripped over a stone and went rolling down the small hill; landing with a large thump. Now flat upon her back she stared up into the tree tops trying to catch her breath. Soon all three of the wolves were standing around her, the pup actually standing on her chest checking her out to make sure she was okay. Sitting up she rubbed her sore head and looked around quite unsure of where in the forest they were.
Humming a merry little tune to herself, the small form of the girl hopped along the pathway that wound this way and that through the thick foliage of bushes and nearby trees. It was at that point she heard a whimpering coming from a nearby bush. With peaked interest, Alaina made her way carefully to the bush in which the sound came from, taking grave care to be on her toes for anything that might decide to hurt her. Pushing aside a couple branches here and there with her hands, the soft brilliant crystal blue orbs of her eyes would dance across the resting form of a red wolf. At first glance, she was able to assess what was wrong with the creature. A few gashes ran along the side of its face, trailing from atop the eye and down to the lower jaw of its maw. On top of that, there were a couple more that littered its way across the torso of the creature. From the smell they appeared to be freshly made.
Moving around to the side of the creature, the small girl made certain to maintain a comfortable space between her and the animal just to be safe. Under further inspection, Alaina took notice of the bloodied right leg of the creature and it was at that point she knew why the creature decided to bed itself here. Swallowing roughly, she would cautiously move a hand out to the head of the wolf, offering it only just to see what it would do. The wolf growled and snapped a bit at the hand, before finally sniffing it a couple times. A soft whine would emit from its throat, before finally resting its head back down upon the ground.
Taking the offered opportunity, Alaina would lightly place her hand atop the wolf’s head, only to ruffle its fur slightly. From that point, she would move her hands to her side, digging in the pouch there momentarily, before finally withdrawing a handkerchief looking piece of fabric. Still remaining cautious to the wolf’s possible hostility, the girl would move around to the injured side of it and moved to wrap the material around the wound. When she drew it to a taught point and knotted it, the wolf turned its head to bite her. Out of sheer habit the girl let out a chirping scream and tried to back away to avoid getting bit. In the process of the whole ordeal the girl flopped back on her rear as she stared wide eyed at the wolf. After a moment, she shook away the fear that littered her face and scrambled up to her feet, before moving off to the pathway again. Shooting a couple glances back at the bush, she would stop just at the pathway, before leaning forward in a huff to place her hands upon her knees for support.
Her heart was beating a million miles per minute at the thought of what could have taken place back there. Maybe her friend was right, she should just really mind to herself and not trust anything or anyone. But it was at that moment when she noticed the wolf coming her way. Not wanting to be confronted with the same issue as before, she began to back away from it not noticing the rotten log behind her. Catching the back of her foot against the log, she easily toppled to her back with a thud upon the ground. A light groan escaped her lips as she rolled over to her hands and knees to get back to her feet. Once she was back to her feet, she glanced around quickly only to notice a woman not too far off from her lying on the ground. That of course was not the prime concern at the point in time.
Shifting her attention back to the wolf that was previously coming towards her, she noticed that it had stopped in the place it was when she took her fall. Heaving a sigh of relief, she would then move away from the wolf and the log towards the woman. Once she would reach the woman, she made certain to stay on the distant side of her so that she was the furthest from the wolf. There was one problem with that plan…Not only was there the one wolf following her, but there were a couple more surrounding the woman. Stopping dead in her tracks, a look of perplexment would wash over her features, “No matter where I turn there’s a wolf! I’m not sure what I did, but I give up.” With that she would plop onto her rear on the ground to wait and see what the wolves did. The one’s surrounding the woman seemed to do nothing, but the other was still gradually making its way towards her nose.
Every muscle tensed up in the little girl and her eyes would slide shut to block out what was about to happen to her. Only to then feel the breath issuing forth from the nostrils of the great wolf against her soft porcelain colored skin. It was enough to cause her head to rear back in fear, but there would be no further movement from the girl other than that. After a stretch of time the wolf finally laid upon the ground to bring its muzzle down to a rest in the girls lap, causing her to open her eyes and peer down at it. Blinking a few times, the girl smiled and pat the wolf’s head, “Awww, I thought you wanted to eat me! I’m certainly glad you didn’t Mr or Mrs Wolf! But you know, I should really see if that lady over there is alive, what do you think?”
Finduilas, who was already sitting up, watched the entire scene with the girl and the injured wolf, unfold before her. Shaking her head in irritation she gently placed the wolf pup aside and raised to her feet, marching over to the girl, her hands on her hips. “How stupid are you?!” she yelled at the young girl a look of utter rage upon her face. “Don’t you know better?! That wolf is injured and unless you handle creatures on normal bases you should not touch them! You most likely did more harm then good! Plus you could have gotten yourself bitten! Wolves, like any creature, are more likely to strike when in physical pain! You stupid girl!” the werewolf said as she continued to shout. The three wolves she had called to her earlier let out soft growls of annoyance towards the other wolf, who had laid his head upon the dumb girl’s lap. “Unless you know what you are doing, which you don’t! Stay away from the wolves, my wolves! These creatures are mine to watch over! I am part of this wolf pack! You are not!” Finny yelled into the girl’s face before grabbing her by the wrist and pulling her to her feet.
The blonde haired woman, Finduilas had a look of pure madness in her eyes, her temper was sky rocketing, and to make matters worse, there was a full moon rising. “Leave!” she growled at Alaina. As she growled at her, the sky began to darken as night started to come to the lands of Imythess, and as night came the moon rose. As the visibility in the woods became nearly nothing, Finduilas at once looked to the tree canopies. She had thought there would be a full moon, and to her horror there was. Turning back to face the now standing Alaina, Finduilas’s eyes now shinned bright with fright. “I said leave!” she shouted again at the girl, as she suddenly doubled over in pain.
It was too late already; she was transforming into her wolf form. Her three wolf friends understood at once what was going on with her and turned towards, Alaina and let out aggressive growls as their fur stood straight. They knew that Finny would not attack them, but as for Alaina, she had best move her butt and fast. The wolves continued to growl at her, snapping their jaws viciously, in an attempt to get her to flee before Finduilas was finished transforming. Finduilas had fallen to the ground upon her knees; her nails digging into the dirt, as her entire body trembled. Drool dripped from her mouth as she gasped with each breath, as she slowly began to change forms. First her eyes turned from their normal elvin shape, to a more canine appearance, than her hair changed from curly blonde, to a straight, snow white mane, which covered her entire back. Soon her entire appearance had changed, as her ears became those of a wolf, her hands had curled in to form large paws, and her body had become covered in snow white fur. Finduilas now stood on four large paws, her transformation having been completed.
