Title: A Major Annoyance
Mia Rivka - June 10, 2008 08:36 PM (GMT)
Rivka walked through the sparkling caves, she was now deep in the interior of the design. The way the caves became brighter surprised her still. After walking for a few hours she had become lost in the twists and turns of the caverns. She loved being surrounded by the sparkling crystals that in her mind were millions of diamonds she could pluck from the wall and bring home in her pocket. However the truth was they were hard to pull out of the cave walls and probably worth very little.
Rivka left her brown hair to flow around her shoulders and down her back. Like always she was dressed in her priestess outfit of red and white. A small rosary hung around her neck and a tiara on her head. Other than that she was unadorned. She walked humbly with her hands folded in front of her dress. She had a serene expression on her face as she walked but her green eyes darted from wall to wall wondering how much effort she would need to actually knock a crystal from the wall.
The deeper she walked into the caverns the brighter it got and the myriad of colors that reflected around her made her seem utterly angelic. They drew her in deeper to the center of the caverns, willingly exploring the place, unaware, and uncaring, of any dangers that lurked in the depths.
Quidam - June 10, 2008 08:47 PM (GMT)
Water dripped calmly into adjacent caverns, causing a relaxing echo of loneliness that permiated the caverns. The odd lighting blanketed the paths that few tended to venture on, but it was obvious they were used often enough to stay level. Previous adventurers must have taken a liking to either the steadfast gemstones or calming atmosphere. One such adventurer, however, was of a different sort.
A young boy, squatting on hands and feet, stared down intently. His hidden eyes ever fixed on the floor beneith his face. His body remain deathly motionless and the mask covering his removed any hint of mental activity. Suddenly a shuffle, and then... Ribbit. A frog leaped forward, almost smacking the boy in the face on its way up. Following its lead, the boy leaped as well, staying close behind the frog, but never missing a hop, pause, nor twitch of an arm, leg, and head. It was a seemless mimicry, one that someone doubted the frog would appriciate.
As the amphibian hopped its way down the corridor, the boy hopped after it jovially. Hop, hop, hop, h-... He boy looked up, following the foot he almost landed on up to the curved hips... thin stomach... amble breasts... to a seemingly pleasant face that was sure to hold some annoyance at the intrusion. The boys head was cocked to the side slightly, curiously examining his new toy. He remained squatting on all fours, "eyes" transfixed on the person infront of him. No words passed his lips, no shifting of a hand, foot, finger, nor toe. He watched and waited.
Mia Rivka - June 10, 2008 09:00 PM (GMT)
Rivka stared down at the boy who had hopped onto her foot, or almost hopped onto her foot. She moved it out of the way slowly, wondering why he was hopping around in the first place. She blinked her green eyes slowly at the boy, confused by his behaviour, and slightly annoyed about the way he gazed up at her blankly. Instead she put on a smile and lowered herself to the boy’s level, aware that his eyes followed her. Playing her priestess role perfectly she spoke softly to the boy, adding a caring tone.
”Hello. Why are you on the floor?” Rivka touched his shoulder briefly but pulled away just in case he didn’t like human contact. ”Are you okay?” Rivka stayed where she was with a small smile on her face, but Mia on the inside watched with curious eyes. The boy seemed off to her but she didn’t know why.
Quidam - June 10, 2008 09:05 PM (GMT)
Watching her crouch to his level, the boy watched her finger poke his shoulder, then pull back quickly. He cocked his head to a different angle, pulled a hand up off the damp floor, erected a finger, and prodded her shoulder in return, pulling away the same way she had done.
When she inquired if he was okay, her questioning eyes made the boy wonder about the fate of his little green friend. Leaning to the side, he looked passed the woman to see a small object hop around a corner. He frowned, or would have if his mask wasn't covering his face. Nevertheless, he returned his attention to the woman, staring at her again.
Mia Rivka - June 10, 2008 09:13 PM (GMT)
Rivka shifted as she crouched down. The boy had only prodded her in return and didn’t answer any of her questions. He seemed more concerned with the frog than he was with her concern over him. She rose from her spot on the floor and stood erect once more. She stretched out her legs before she spoke again.
”Fine if you don’t want to talk that’s alright,” She hid the annoyance in her voice and turned to retreat down the cave path and deeper into the maze. She had hoped to find something worthwhile here, and not just a boy playing frog.
Quidam - June 10, 2008 09:18 PM (GMT)
His head followed hers as she stood. Standing himself, he stretched out his leg in mockery with a grin hidden behind his mask. The woman seemed irritated with him, already. The boy found much amusement in this. She turned to walk away and he didn't miss a step.
His toes were almost on her heels when she turned away and walked. His closeness mixed with the closed walls could possibly make for a claustrophobic's nightmare. He was fully prepared to stop as quickly as necessary, having done this to many others before her. He was very tempted to poke her shoulder again, in the same fashion as before.
Mia Rivka - June 10, 2008 09:23 PM (GMT)
Rivka could feel him walking behind her, close on her heels. She lengthened her steps and tried to gain some distance between them. The only sound now was the combined clicking of their heels against the ground. She gritted her teeth together wondering what this boy could possibly want. She wiped the annoyed look from her face and stopped dead, turning to face the boy.
”Are you lost?” She put on her sweetest voice, trying hard to keep the smile on her face. Maybe he was just a poor boy who was lost, and Rivka shouldn’t be annoyed by that. But he wasn’t just getting at Rivka he was getting at Mia as well. It took a certain amount of work to keep Rivka’s personality facade up and this boy was quickly wearing it down.
Quidam - June 10, 2008 09:29 PM (GMT)
Sure enough, after the fruitless quickening of her pace, she stopped dead in her tracks and the boy was right here, practically nose-to-nose with the woman. He smiled quietly under his mask.
To actually answer her question, he shook his head, but leaned in even closer to her, bringing both his hands to face level, pointing at the corners of her mouth. He made a upward stroke, poiting out her smile, possibly as if it wasn't happy enough. To clarify, he traced the same smile on his face, but as he did so, the area of mask under his nose vanished with his finger movement, unveiling a very large, toothy smile. The weight of which would be very unnerving if one was stared at with it for a prolonged amount of time.

The sound of the water was calming and made one feel safe, it had been like that every time she had ever been there, she came to this place when she wanted to rest.
The elf lady sat in one of the deeper parts of the cave, her eyes was closed and her breath was deep. She had been there for a long time now and was going to stay for a while longer to. She opened her eyes when she heard the echoing sound of a voice not far from her. She moved her gaze around the chamber, so there was people here today? Well that was a surprise because she was not used to see people in here. Calmly she stood up from the crystal she had used as a chair and walked towards the sound in a calm phase. The sound from her shoes echoed trough the cavern.
She noticed a small frog as it jumped past a corner and then past her, she followed it with her eyes and raised an eyebrow. A frog? Well stranger things have happened before in this world. She shook her head and then she stopped to listen, she could hear the voice and it was not far away, she walked around the corner and noticed both Mia and Quidam. She raised her eyebrows again when she saw them. Her golden eyes moved first to Mia and then to the boy. But the sorceress did not say anything to them, she just watched them calmly and with slight interest.
Mia Rivka - June 10, 2008 09:46 PM (GMT)
Rivka clenched her fists at her side, annoyed at the boy. There was something about him that just crawled under her skin and made her want to... want to... well punch him in the face so she wouldn’t have to see that ridiculous smile anymore. She unclenched her fists and bunched them back up again. For a second her own face changed to that of a beautiful elf’s but she quickly regained control of the spell and stared angrily at the boy.
”What do you want!?” Her voice was angry now and the smile dropped from her features.
Quidam - June 10, 2008 10:07 PM (GMT)
The boy's grin widened, if that was even possible, at her frustration. He leaned in close to her clenching and unclenching of her fist, his finger resting on his chin underneith a mockingly suprised mouth, now in the shape of an "O." His grin, however, returned a moment after.
With his eyes on her face during the brief, yet all too noticable change in appearance, the boy waved a hand infront of his mask vertically from the top of his head down to his neck, the space where his mouth was covered itself. With his other hand, he waved across his mask right to left, colors inferting themselves from white and purple to black and gold, the two black marks to represent his eyes turned white. However, he waved his hand again from left to right and the colors went back to their original hues. With a hidden smile, he again closed the gap between them a tad further and tried gazing into her eyes, pretending to look for whoever was hiding behind them.

Alice watched this all as it happened, she slowly crossed her arms over the chest and tilted her head a little to the side. This boy was very odd, but the sorceress knew that he was just trying to confuse the woman, very fun to watch. She brushed some dust of her dress and then she suddenly began to walk towards them, she did not really care of they would see her. In fact she wanted them to see her.
She shook her head when the boy began to use magic to change his mask, now that was an old trick. Alice could also do things like that if she wanted to. "I see your having fun" she said with a calm but friendly voice. "I´m surprised to see people in here today" she tilted her head to the right and stopped a few meters away from the two strangers. Her gaze moved from one of them to the other and then back again. Her golden eyes was searching as if she was looking for something special.
Mia Rivka - June 10, 2008 10:24 PM (GMT)
When Rivka heard another voice she shot the boy a murderous look before straightening herself and turning to see the newcomer. ”I guess that depends on what your idea of fun is.” Rivka had almost completely given up on her happy-go-lucky personality she usually donned as Rivka. Rivka just closed her eyes, wanting to drop the illusion but refusing to give herself away just yet. She needed someone she trusted to reveal herself to, otherwise her plans were ruined.
”And I’m surprised to see other people here as well.” Rivka took the opportunity to move away from the boy. She hoped he wouldn’t follow her but somehow she doubted it, it was hard for her to not ground her teeth together in annoyance. ”What are you doing in the caves?” She was glad for conversation for awhile, perhaps she could distract herself from the boy for a bit.
Quidam - June 10, 2008 10:36 PM (GMT)
Noticing the second woman, the boy waited until his first victim was turned around before cocking his head in the same fashion and angle as his new victim. He followed on Rivka's heels placidly, as if he even belonged there. He took the opportinity of Rivka's lack of attention on him to comunicate with the newcommer.
Leaning his head to the side, he took one hand, flattened it with the edge facing himself and Alice, and swiped it halfway across his face. In doing so, the colors reversed on one side of his mask while the other retained its original hue. He pointed with his other hand at the other woman infront of him, but nodded to Alice. If either of them were to give him either a curious glance or one of scorn, he would paint a plain, wide grin with two arrowed lines for eyes on his mask in the attempt at a playful happy face without actually removing the thing.
Despite his fun, he tried to answer Rivka's question for Alice by tapping Rivka's shoulder before sitting down on air with only his right foot supporting himself and his left foot on top of his right knee, his left knee hanging free in the air with the rest of him. One arm leaned on nothing while the other pretended to smoke a pipe or cigarette.

”I guess that depends on what your idea of fun is.”
Alice laughed and nodded. "I guess your right about that, but to me it looks like one of you are having a fun time." she shook her head slightly and moved her gaze from the woman to the boy, she raised an eyebrow when he did his thing but other then that she did not react much to what he was doing. She then looked back at Mia.
”What are you doing in the caves?”
Alice was just about to speak when the masked boy did his thing and she smiled slightly at it. "Well like this young gentleman is trying to say, I was resting." she replied and moved some hair from her face. "I have had a long day and I need to rest my feet for a while, I often come here when I am in the area."
she looked around the cave while she talked, then she looked back at the two of them. "Oh where are my manners, my name is Alice, nice to meet you"
Mia Rivka - June 10, 2008 10:53 PM (GMT)
Rivka noticed the raised eyebrow and figured the boy was doing something stupid again. She decided firmly to ignore him and focus on the new girl instead. ”Well at least he didn’t attach to you,” Her face was sullen and she twisted it into a slight smile but failed anyway. She wasn’t usually this easily annoyed but something in this boy’s personality drove her mad.
Rivka felt the boy tap her shoulder and she hesitated before turning around and watching his little performance. After he had seemed to settle into position Rivka turned around. As she turned though she stuck out her foot and let it follow her body. As it moved around it caught the leg the boy was putting all his weight on and knocked it out from under him.
”This is my first time here. And the name is Rivka,” Rivka dipped into a slight curtsy before she rose again. ”And I think this day has a few amusements.” She was referring to knocking over the boy, but she didn’t laugh or even acknowledge him.
Quidam - June 10, 2008 11:04 PM (GMT)
He fell hard on his butt. His hand quickly went to his mask, the jovial expression switched to one of pained anger directed at Rivka's back. He eventually scrambled to his feet and ran his hand over his mask again, the expressions disapearing. He stepped up to face Alice a few feet further from Rivka this time.
As Alice introduced herself, he walked closer to her and his clothes seemed to change suddenly; so suddenly, in fact, it would be quite the shock. His raggety jeans and t-shirt transformed into a black suit, well fitted to his very thin body. Then, his bow was completely graceful, one thin leg bending around the leg allowing him to stand, one arm tucked into his midsection while the other jutted out behind him. His head bent low, and on his way back up, he reached for one of her hands to place it against the bottom of his mask in a mock kiss to her fingers.

”This is my first time here. And the name is Rivka,”
Alice nodded. "Very nice to meet you Rivka" she said, she moved her gaze to the boy when he walked towards her. She tilted her head slightly to the right when his clothes transformed to a prefect black suit. She smiled slightly when he bowed to her. She she did not do anything against his attempt to reach her hand to give it a kiss. "My I see this is a real gentleman" she said. "You have a name you would like to share?" she calmly examined the boy with her eyes as she was talking, he was the kind of boy that liked to mess with people, to bad for him that it would not work very well against Alice then.
The demon inside of her was laughing and it had done it for a while now, of course the once on the outside could not hear this since it was only inside of the sorceress head. "My this boy amuses us very much" it said with a low whispering voice, nodded slightly. "Yes he is special alright, not like others." she replied back in her head, but there was nothing on the outside showing what she was thinking.
Mia Rivka - June 11, 2008 11:57 PM (GMT)
Rivka rolled her eyes when Alice called the boy a ‘real gentleman’. He was far from that in her mind and she couldn’t help but be annoyed that he had even bowed to her. She crossed her arms across her chest and tapped one foot on the ground and she watched the small one way conversation that Alice was likely to have. The boy didn’t talk at all it seemed. Unless that was another ploy to annoy her.
”He is far from a gentleman Alice. But yes boy... do you have a name or should I just call you something I find suiting for one such as... yourself?” There was a small amount of contempt in her voice as she spoke.
Quidam - June 12, 2008 02:47 AM (GMT)
The boy seemed to slump a little at the mention of a name for himself. He had none, or at least none that he remembered. One day he had simply existed, and that was that. To tell the tale, he waved a hand across his mask, blanking it out into a white stone. His suit, too, changed from black to white. Using a simple illusion, his entire body disapeared with the exception of his mask, which seemed to fall to the floor, oddly bouncing without any noise. The mask, then, arose. When it reached the level of his face, it stood still and his body seemed to rematerialize.
As for his name? A black, bold question mark apeared on his mask, then slowly faded back to the white. He shook his head, but it didn't seem to bother him much.

”He is far from a gentleman Alice. But yes boy... do you have a name or should I just call you something I find suiting for one such as... yourself?”
Alice raised an eyebrow when she said the first part, ignorant woman. Alice could see that there was something about this boy...something that made her interested in him. She shook her head and then she moved her gaze around the cavern for a moment. It was still the same, different crystals was all over the place.
The sorceress looked back at Quidam when he began his new little charade thing. She watched it carefully and she nodded a little now and then to make him understand she understood when he was trying to show them. This boy did not have a name? Well stranger things had happened before in this odd world. So why not this?
She did not think more about the subject now.
Mia Rivka - June 16, 2008 06:49 PM (GMT)
Mia watched his little performance with little interest. How suiting that the boy had no name. Mia crossed her arms and watched the boys little act end. Something about him drove her crazy. Anything he did seemed to just make her more and more annoyed.
”How appropriate. No name for an unwanted annoyance.” Mia thought for a moment, then shook her head as if changing her mind. Her eyes drifted around the cavern.
”I have things to do with my time,”
