Title: The flames within....

Alaina Kiety - June 10, 2008 03:39 AM (GMT)
One one thousand, two one thousand, three one thousand, four…? Wait no, there’s only three….Which means…” In a panic the small frame of the girl heaved the stick up from the flames that licked their way across it. There was a look of sheer discontent upon her small visage, “Oh no, this will simply not do!” Inch by inch her delicate eyes drifted along the sticks length until landing upon the tip where the flaming marshmallow resided only to then widen greatly. Leaping up to her feet, she proceeded to flail the stick left and right while running around in an aimless circle hoping to put out the seemingly growing flames. To her dismay, the actions she thought would put out the growing fire, would only proceed to intensify them until the marshmallow grew to an ashen appearance and flung itself from the stick to land upon the trunk of a nearby tree.

Once the weight of the marshmallow lifted from the stick, all actions from the girl came to a dead standstill so she could reassess what had happened. Scanning the stick again with her eyes, a perplexed look took upon her features at finding it bare, “Oh no! Where’d it go?” Glancing around frantically at her surroundings, the girls eyes finally came to a rest upon a nearby tree, before heaving a sight of relief. “Awww, Mr. Marshmellow you weren’t supposed to do that, I was going to save you.” Nodding firmly at what she said, the small girl would move over to the tree where she would proceed to poke at the ashen blob with the stick.

“Come on you get back on the stick and I’ll send you to a new home, okay!?” The voice was cheery and melodic in its tune, but there was also a look of happiness that also adorned her features along with it. It would soon change; however, to one of frustration, “Why won’t you get back on?” She asked while continuing to prod the black blob, “I’m not going to hurt you…I just want to send you back, unless you like it there.” Curious about her question, the girl faltered all actions and simply cocked her head to the side in order to study the blob further and perhaps from a whole different angle to find that nothing made a difference, “Fine, forget you stay as you are.” In a huff the girl turned around swiftly and began again towards the fire. Tossing the stick into the flames, she would turn and plop down upon her rear in cross legged fashion. Both of her arms would prop themselves up on her inner knees, the hands would move towards each other and her chin would drop to rest upon them. For a couple of moments she gazed within the fire, thinking to herself for a while…

Mathideton - June 10, 2008 04:52 AM (GMT)
Mathideton wandered the forest with a smile on his face. He was enjoying himself quite much more than usual. Nothing bad had happened, nothing even worth mentioning. Such days were welcome in Mathideton's eyes, as his years in the forest had revealed some pretty bad situations, from massive fires to necromancers. As a satyr, a thing of nature, he naturally found the work of necromancers... quite unnatural.

Mathideton hummed as he worked, a deep vibrating sound. In his hand he held a small block of wood, no longer recognize able as such. It was turning along quite nicely. The block of Oak was slowly turning into a small wooden bird. Mathideton's large hands worked the wood against the blade of his spear with surprising grace and dexterity.

Mathideton heard a voice, making him jump. The action nearly severed the bird's head, but it did take out a chip. He looked at it and shrugged. He could work with it. Most anything he did artistically or musically could be incorporated into the piece.

Tired for now, Mathideton slipped the bird away and stood from the stump, strapping the spear to his back. He reached and twisted his arms high above his head and bent at the waist, stretching out tired muscles. The large black-brown furred satyr shook his head and began walking towards the source of the disturbance.

He stumbled upon a small girl and a fire, she was apparently burning marshmallows. He cocked his head curiously. Why would one burn food? For taste? Mathideton did not understand such ideas. All was as it was made, and he saw fit to eat what he could without playing with it. The girl seemed disappointed as her marshmallow got away. She talked to it and sat down, legs crossed. Mathideton smiled.

He pulled out the set of Faerie pipes and began playing a melodic lullaby, given to him by a passing elf . Mathideton much appreciated elves music. It was enchanting in it's own way, but Mathideton found ways to improve on it, giving it an almost magical feel.

The melody played softly, but slightly upbeat, echoing through the forest. The pipes played beautifully in his hands, lowest notes sounding like the wind in the trees, the highest the songs of birds. Mathideton drew to a slow close, sitting on a stump near the fire.

Hello there, what is such a young one doing out in the middle of the woods? It's fairly dangerous here, you know.” Mathideton smiled at her.

Gibbon - June 10, 2008 05:54 AM (GMT)
Gibbon stood in the clearing of the forest. He had a fireball in his hand and his sword in another. His companion bird was on the other side of the clearing. Gibbon threw the fireball up and proceeded to hit it with his sword.

What the two of them were attempting to play was a game he created to train his reaction time. He would hit the ball toward the phoenix and Diablo would hit it back. What Gibbon failed to realize is the bird had nothing to hit it back with. But that didn't keep it from trying.

As the ball headed toward the bird, the phoenix tried to hit it with its wing. It was pointless it only flew through and proceeded through the forest. Gibbon looked in awe as it crashed into the forest. He ran towards where it crashed.

When he and his phoenix arrived at the location of the crash. He saw two people near a fire that he thought was the fireball. It was not the fireball crash site. It landed further ahead well past this site. But what he saw here was an odd site. A young girl and a strange creature he wasn't familiar with. He only knew it was proper to greet the two of them and see what was up.

"Hello, I'm Gibbon. I’m passing through with my Phoenix. Wondering if you saw a fireball come flying by here?" he smiled trying not to come off odd to them. He then saw a scorched wad on a tree next to him. He poked it with his sword and it was sticky. "What in the world is this gob?" Things seemed pretty odd right now for him. He only wondered how odd it was for them. "Nice fire though" he thought.

Alaina Kiety - June 10, 2008 04:11 PM (GMT)
There were a few crackles and pops that erupted from the fire, casting sparks and embers both into the air and across the ground. One of them had managed to roll across the grass stopping just a short distance from her, causing her eyes to peer down at it in a slight regard before returning them to the fire. How droll….She thought until a soft melody carried to her ears, perking her up a bit to cast a curious glance about her. What she found was something that really didn’t look ordinary, at least in the human term…The sight made her frown momentarily in thought since she wasn’t able to place what she saw with a name. It really didn’t matter though, what DID matter was the tune the creature played.

When the music stopped a look of disappointment took itself upon her features and in one smooth motion she rose to her feet, dusting off her rear in the process. Cocking her head off to the side, her piercing blue eyes studied the form that now resided upon the stump not too far off from her. The voice would soon follow her action, leaving her frown at the thought of it, “I’m not worried, not anymore!” She lifted her arms off to her flanks, before throwing them in a counter clockwise direction, only to then throw herself into a spin, where one leg would lift and the other would come to a toe point upon the ground. Once she reached a full rotation, the other foot would place itself back to the ground to stop further advancement of the spin.

With a smile prominent upon her face, the girl leaned her face in towards the creature to observe it closer, “Why? Are you a bad guy? If you are, you don’t look like one.” She said as she reached a hand out to touch one of the horns upon his head, but refraining. Drawing it back to her side, a playful smile etched across her face, “Even if you were a bad person that was trying to hurt me. You would regret it.” Nodding firmly, the girl’s attention would quickly swing to the new voice that presented it off in the direction that her marshmallow still resided. Turning her head from the Satyr, a brow lifted in question while she studied the new person in this seemingly growing nest of people. Once introduced, Alaina grinned and popped up to an erect state, where she would lift a hand, thumb moving in towards her chest if to present herself, “Hi there Gibbon! I’m Alaina, but you can call me Al for short if you want….”

Soon as the words left her mouth, all actions would cease and her mind would kick up into deep thought. Heaving a gasp of air at what she discovered, both of her hands would lift in front of her, shifting from side to side rapidly, “Oh no no no, I’m not an icky boy! Just….Just call me Alaina then!” Smiling nervously, the girl’s attention would then shift from Gibbon over to the odd creature in her company, “Uhhh…..” Was all she could muster for words, before shrugging, “I’m not sure what his name is, since he decided to be meanie and not tell me yet.”

Her bows knitted themselves in thought, recalling the new man asking something about a ball of fire. Issuing a shrug in response, she would simply allow a, “I’m not sure where it went,” kind of reply. Shifting her thoughts to the last thing that the man said, a smug smile erupted across her slender lips, “You like it, huh? I didn’t make it though, but I’ll take credit for it!!” The girls voice was cheery, but it wasn’t likely to last long with the way she flashed through emotions at the rate she did.

Mathideton - June 11, 2008 12:19 AM (GMT)
Mathideton smiled at her expression when he stopped playing. She enjoyed his playing! Mathideton watched her spin on her toe and chuckled, clapping his big hands softly. She walked up to him and asked him right out if he was a bad guy! What a innocent, if naïve little girl! Mathideton loved every moment of it. The girl reached out to touch one of his horns and Mathideton smiled warmly. “It's a good thing I don't look like one. I'm one of the good guys.” Mathideton chuckled as she pulled her hand back.

I'm sure I would. Such a strong one as yourself could pose quite a threat!” Mathideton spoke with a lighthearted seriousness, humoring her. The man came into the little area then, looking around and introducing himself. Mathideton chuckled lightly.

Hello Gibbon.” He watched the Girl introduce herself and pause. When she spoke about him, Mathideton chuckled and stood up into a bow. “I'm sorry, Alaina. My name is Mathideton.” He said, coming up. He was truly introducing himself to both of them. Leaning closer to her, he spoke. “But you can call me Mathy if it's easier.” Mathideton smiled.

Turning his attention to Gibbon, he frowned a little. “No, I don't think I have. Don't worry about it, though. The forest can handle itself. I don't think a little fireball will hurt anything.” Mathideton chuckled and sat on the stump once more, lifting his faerie pipes to his lips. He thought for a moment before picking his song.

A quick little song began playing, music for humans to jig along with. He let himself become drawn into the song, happy as ever.

Gibbon - June 11, 2008 12:43 AM (GMT)
Gibbon smiled and saw that these two were a couple friendly bystanders. He put his sword away and gestured Diablo away for now. He still wondered what the one creature was though. He played a mighty fine melody. It wouldn't hurt to ask him thought.

"Nice to me you, Alaina and Mathy." he greeted to the two in reply. "I was only concerned for the safety of the creatures and bystanders like yourself." he said to Mathy. That fireball wasn't big but it could burn someone good if it hit them.

Gibbon went over to sit by the fire. The flames were wonderfully flowing. One could see the amber in his eyes glow a bit as he starred into it. "One question, what is the name for your kind, Mathy? I am not familiar with it. I'm sure Alaina isn't either. You do play wonderful melodies. I do like them." he smiled still starring into the fire. He also lit his hand on fire to see if either would react to his silly action.

"Fire is fun, but it can be dangerous too. See here." he showed Alaina his hand that was on fire. Normally this would hurt someone, but me I had lots of training to endure and control it. Do you want to know a trick?" he smiled hoping she would say yes. He loved kids and there innocence.

Alaina Kiety - June 11, 2008 07:46 PM (GMT)
“I'm sure I would. Such a strong one as yourself could pose quite a threat!”

The first to speak was the first to get her attention and that was none other than the Satyr. All attention would fall upon the creature and a soft giggle would erupt from her lungs, “You better believe it!” Lifting a single arm to a parallel position to the ground briefly, it would bend at the joint, hand trailing in towards the side of her head, where all the muscles of her arm would flex as if to show what strength she held. Of course being a mere child the action was merely laughable to anyone older than her, let alone the males that surrounded her. It didn’t matter though, because another wave of gigglish laughter would erupt forth, “It’s not a bluff!” Dropping her arm back to her side, all attention would slip over to Gibbon at the sound of his voice.

To make sure that she wasn’t being rude to her other guest, a single digit would rise into the air to explain to Mathy that she would be just a moment. Slinking over to the fire, Alaina would bend forward, both of her hands would move down to her knees where they would help support her upper body. With her piercing blue eyes she would gaze upon Gibbon’s face listening to what he said, before looking at his hand and then the fire. It was at that moment that something sparked in her head and it was that moment that the flaming hand really didn’t seem like a big deal. At least not until she would finish speaking her own little thing.

“Oh!” Alaina would rock back to an erect position, before peering down at the fire, “The man who started this fire for me had his own tricks too! He told me to get some wood so I did and threw it there.” A hand lifted with a finger pointing directly into the flames where the remainder of the gathered wood resided, “But the fire wasn’t going yet and I asked him if he needed sticks to start the fire. He told me it wasn’t necessary and to watch. So he snapped his fingers and there was light and then fire!!! It was really really cool, so until you guys came I’ve been trying to keep the fire going becausssseeeee I’d be sad if it went out when it was made so neatly.” Once her story was done, her eyes moved back down to that of Gibbon’s hand, “Are you like that guy with the tricks and that, because that’d be cool! I like tricks, I also like games! I’m sure Mathy would like to see it too!”

Mathideton - June 12, 2008 02:51 AM (GMT)
Mathideton chuckled as the girl flexed her arm and spoke to Gibbon. The man was kind, especially for a warrior with as many tricks up his sleeve as he did. Mathideton was not much in the way of fighting, all he carried was a spear. And even he did not know how to use it as well as most.

The girl was sure a talkative one. Mathideton wondered who the man she spoke of could possibly be. He had not seen any other man in the woods, and he would easily notice if there was much fire activity in the woods. The druid frowned as he thought, presenting a rather entertaining face for such a creature as he.

Mathideton shrugged the thought away and looked to Gibbon with interest. “Indeed. Show us a trick, good sir.” He chuckled and winked. The girl seemed entertained easily enough, anything to keep her so until someone came by who could take her with them, or escort her home. With that, the satyr looked at the girl.

Do you have anybody with you? It doesn't seem like a girl like you would come out here by herself. Aren't there people looking for you?” He asked curiously.

((sorry for the crapness))

Gibbon - June 13, 2008 02:06 AM (GMT)
Gibbon was glad to hear the wanted to see the trick. As the girl said, he too could ignite and create fire. He only hoped he could top her friend.

"You mean your friend did this?" he put out his hand and then slapped his hands together. Causing a spark and the fire raged up to a healthy level again. "That wasn't my trick but I hope that helps your fire. Here is my trick."

Gibbon stood up hands together and eyes closed. He began chanting an incantation. Sparks began flying out of the fire before them. Then Gibbon's eyes opened and hands came apart. He smiled and looked at Alaina. "So, say hello to my friend." a figure walked out from the fire. It was an elemental he summoned. "It's an elemental; he won't hurt any of us. Unless I tell it to. But I won't do that. Go back in the fire." the elemental went back in and disappeared into the fire.

"Mathy, has a good point. What are you doing here, alone? It seems a bit odd for a young girl to be out on her own in a forest." Gibbon did wonder a bit about that. “Could your friend be around somewhere?”

Alaina Kiety - June 14, 2008 09:29 PM (GMT)
Patiently she waited for the man to present his trick, only to see him do the same exact thing as her friend. Shortly after the man would usher an explanation for what he did, before presenting his trick. The fire would then spew forth an odd looking creature, which made her almost curious enough to touch, but refrained from doing so since it was made of fire. Blinking a couple of times, Alaina watched it retreat into the fire and vanish from sight. At first she really wasn’t sure what to say since it wasn’t a common thing in her eyes, so she simply stared at Gibbon.

After a moment she opened her mouth to speak, but was quickly silenced by the bombarding questions of the two of them. Closing her mouth in response, her face would scrunch up briefly, “Uhhh…There’s no one with me or looking for me, but my friend should be back soon.” She nodded firmly, before adding, “He told me he would, that he did!” There was a smile that snaked over her child like visage, before she stood back up with a slight hop, “What’s with the questions anyway, hmmm?” With the last hum of her statement, she would lean forward enough to bring her face close to Gibbon’s, staring him directly in the eyes.

“I’m fine by myself; I was before my friend came along.” Drawing in a deep breath, she would then rock backwards and to an erect state, before shifting her gaze over to that of Mathy. “Sooooo, how about you two? It’s dangerous here, you know.” Just as the last word rolled off her tongue, she would stick it out at the two of them almost like a ‘haha in your face’ kind of thing. Out of all the things people told her, the worst was that she was too little or too young to handle being alone. That she should have parents or some kind of care giver and if she didn’t have any that they would be that person for them. The last part didn’t happen as much as the first part, but it was still annoying none the last. The only reason she tolerated her friend was because he was just that, a friend.

Moving past Gibbon and to that of the odd looking man, Alaina would pause just shy of him, before pointing up at him, “Do YOU have any cool tricks like Mister Gibbon…? Because I have one!” There was a wry grin upon her face while she said that, but before she would take action she would simply wait for the Satyr to answer the question she asked him.
