Demigods and Royalty have been reintroduced to Imythess, but only for members who have another staff position so that they will be more likely to remain active. AD is the first of them, the Demigoddess of Secrets. She just doesn't know it yet in character, and when she does find out it's going to be a secret!
Do not expect too many more Demigods until the God's positions have been filled. I hope that they are filled soon! ^_^
*is wondering why Ornell gave up godship to become a demigod*
So, if you get a staff position, you become a demigod/royalty? Or is that just for the favored? Could you refuse the position?
If you are a moderator, you may request a position in the top secret moderator base.
I premice this with the fact that I have no problems with this idea, buuuuut...
I have noticed that power, and hence responsibility, tends to be the death of people on this board. Specifically, there seems to be a trend that those who become dieties, however active beforehand, start to hit a downward spiral once that transition occurs. From personal experience, I believe this is due to a few factors, primarily the thought that "hurray, I've won the game," the difficulty of trying to play a god/goddess who, by social requirement, can not really act very godly, or the frustration of a sudden influx of posts, primarily in the same temple board, that all start to go in the same direction after a time. Staff positions count too, just change the roleplay drudgery with the administrative duties moderation, idea development, and (mostly) shop orders.
The new positions for alts is all fine and dandy, but I recommend a few things for some of our roleplayers that are finding themselves falling into these ruts, gods or not. Take charge of your RPs. You do not have to sit around in a bar arguing with someone else about what drink you ordered for ten posts, go make something happen. The best way to remain inspired is to keep RPs evolving. If both members of a topic continually make efforts to enhance the story, then you are in a good place. Also... if you are predisposed to a character with a demanding personality trait, including a strong alignment or life view, consider an alt that expresses the opposite traits so you can pick and choose based on your mood.
I hope some of the royalty and demigods, and even our beloved dieties themselves, can use this advice and avoid their burnouts.
Oh, and as a bright side to those who are now doing the shops... just think, when I was handling them, we still had jobs, frequent posters, and several gold bearing events. The several orders a week these days used to be the average flow of orders each day back then, so remind yourselves that it's not that bad ^_^ .
I gave up being the Goddess of Fire for a few reasons.
I am not good at playing a lawful character. Ornell/Era was my first attempt and as I wanted AD to remain in the guild, Lady Era was the account that became a Mod, thus when I became an Admin she was also the one who became that. I was given the option top have a God/dess character as I was now an Admin. AD doesn't really fit any of the positions, but Era fit fire. Thus Era/Ornell became the Goddess of Flame.
After role-playing that for a while I discovered I really don't like having two lawful characters. Of the two I favored Ornell and had been posting her a lot. I debated making her the Goddess, but decided I liked the idea of having her do something else. That plan is now set as I have both an IC and OOC reason for getting rid of Lady Era.
The idea of Demigods was debated for a while, put on hold, taken off, etc. while I had Era/Ornell as a deity. It also came to the point that I was starting to hate posting Lady Era, so I opted to retire her. The timing was earlier then I intended, I had intended to have her retire after the quest I'm running was done, but it was taking longer then I had thought for many many reasons and so I kept Ornell.
AD is my main alt. I can always post somewhere with her and she is also my very first RP character ever. She doesn't fit any of the God/dess positions, so she is now a Demigod.
As for the shops, that's really easy compared to trying to play too many characters! ^_^ I'm just glad that I don't have to do any of the job or pay things, 'cuz I really don't get that one at all!
