Title: Metal-edged Cards?

Pandora Fayte - March 6, 2008 09:27 PM (GMT)
I was hoping to get a pair of metal-edged cards, or a deck of cards that I could throw. You know, kind of like the Joker? Since a deck of cards aren't really for sale, I am assuming I could simply own them?

But how would I make them throwable, and sharp?

Make sense?

They sell fortune cards at the Spellcaster's Focus shop for 30 gold (6 posts). You can buy some of those and request in the sales counter that they can be treated as metal throwing cards.

However, keep in mind that throwing weapons such as cards are difficult to use unless you have the marksman skill.

Thank you, dear sir. I would kiss you.

But we all know how that would go.

Actually throwing daggers would be better and I believe you can buy masterwork quality. You could still use the cards pic. It'll take a bit of money to get a full deck, but you could have them mixed in with normal cards which you may indeed have for free.

Once I've my suggestion for weapons goes through, shirkens will be on sale, and those will be the closest to your desired weapon.

Can I have an admin tell me which of these two is the better path?

I don't want to do one, and then be told that it is the wrong one.

After looking through the available options, at this point your best bet is as follows:

Each metal edged card will require the purchase of a masterwork dagger. The cost difference between the throwing knife and the dagger are only one post, and only the dagger has masterwork quality, so there you go. This means it will cost 40 gold for one of those cards. This will allow you to say that they are card shaped.

If you wish to hide them in a deck of normal cards instead of just arbitrarily having a card or two on your person, you would buy the fortune cards.

I would recommend getting the "Returning" weapon enchantment for at least one of your "cards" in order to avoid running out of ammunition. Until then, you will just have to be a bit cautious about where your cards go. Since it is a custom weapon and does not have an easily carried ammunition (rocks or arrows), you actually will need to play fetch to retrieve them.

I'm saying that you may go ahead and buy the Shurikens that Ace has suggested because as soon as I'm done going over his suggestion with him I'm going to get it posted. I did ask him to do it after all! ^_^ I have no problem with the way the Shurikens are priced and as it will be in the shops soon anyways I don't see a problem with you buying them. It would be best to link this topic when you buy them so Nightwind knows what you are talking about when you post in the shops. You can simply say they are card shaped if you want to. It's 10 gold (2 posts) per Shuriken. If you would like to have other normal cards, they would be mundane items and don't have to be purchased. The deck of Fortune Cards are much like the Crystal ball and if you don't plan on using it for magic you don't need them. Getting a returning enchantment on them is also a very good idea and might be worth looking into. If you actually manage to get a full deck (360 gold) I bet I could talk the other admin into letting you get the entire deck enchanted for a set price.
