Title: Additions to the supply shop

Rothardan - February 3, 2008 09:16 PM (GMT)
Me and Enelya are working on a plot together and I was browsing through the supply shop... and found that I couldn't find what I needed. I know there's the whole 'you can buy it if it isn't in the shop' rule, but I figured that if you added these items to the shop, then it would add a whole new feeling to RPing in terms of travelling in the wilderness.

Tent - Cost: 15 Gold
A small tent that can only fit one person

Large tent - Cost: 40 Gold
A larger tent that can fit up to four people.

Provisions - Cost: 15 Gold
One week's worth of food

Map of Imythess - Cost: 10 Gold
A map of the whole land of Imythess

City Maps - Cost: 20 Gold
Maps of the cities within Imythess

Magical Map - Cost: 100 Gold
A magic map that always shows where you are and all the surrounding areas. If you ask the map how to get to somewhere, it will show you the best route. (Like a paper version of a car SatNav.)

Waterskin - Cost: 10 Gold
Because travelling is thirsty work

Sleeping Bag - Cost: 20 Gold
A cosy sleeping bag with a head rest, so you don't have to use a rock.

I have other suggestions for houses and whatnot. I'll post them later after I see the reaction from here.

I believe the supply shop should have things that help you in your travels not things you need for your travels. People wouldn't have gotten through Istan Desert if they didn't have waterskins or something of the sort. While a wanderer can travel without a compass he can't really travel far without provisions. Most travelers would have a sleeping bag or a tent, but obviously not a large tent. As for maps they should be fairly easy to come by. They would be found in an abundance in the libraries of Taras and the Academy of magic, and from there could be copied and dispersed rather easily.

The magical map however could possibly be used but it would go in the Magical Clothing and Items section rather than supply. Though I do see some room for abuse of the map such as using it to access unusual areas or find things that would not have been normally covered in the maps making, such as moving objects and recent objects. "How do I get to where Rothardan is standing?"
