He sighed to him self as he walked alone within the ancient ruins. His eyes were half open as he stood still as he heard the sounds of a creek nearby. He had heard of theses ruins from a merchant he found on the way. He continued to walk as he found a pond connected to a small stream running near where the cathedral was. He slowly sat down staring down at the pond silently as his eyes seemed half open. It was these times he wished he was not a Half-Elve companionship was hard to come by and people tended to stray away from him.
He took in a deep breath slowly as he picked up a pebble and slowly dropped it in the pond. He looked at his reflection with a straight face visible as he closed his eyes and cleared him mind of all negative thoughts. He then opened them as he stood back up as he watched the pond which was still rippling due to the pebble he dropped into it. But at the same time as the feeling of loneliness over took him he did enjoy the peace and tranquility of areas which were inhabited to almost no one. He then looked up to the sky as he watched a bird fly into a tree and land in its nest. Tarren smiled softly as he decided to take a peek inside the cathedral since curiosity overtook him and since he was alone he felt rather bored.
He then pushed the mighty stone doors opened which made a rather loud rumbling noise as he took a step within the cathedral. His eyes went wide as he saw all the ancient runes and old architecture inside. They were very beautiful for old crumbly things and fascination over took him. He took a few silent steps in as he looked around the ruins. He did not know what used to live or lurk in here but whoever built theses ruins knew how to craft. He bit his lips softly as he stopped at one of the pillars and ran his hand against it softly… ”If only I was here with someone else… Or with a group of adventurers or something…” He said quietly as he stared at the pillar and left his right hand resting on it…
Last time she had come to this ancient place she hadn't had a chance to do a proper search for any sign of portals or gateways to the other planes of existence. That was still an incredibly useful thing to know though. Gateways, portals, and thin spots between realms were incredibly important for the Goddess of Flame’s race. She was, unlike Ornell, not native to this Material Plane. She is a Traveler, an Elemental Hybrid. Specifically half Air Elemental and half Fire Elemental. She had became a Goddess after traveling here to learn more about the Material Plane and its relationship to the Elements, other Planes of Existence, and ultimately how it related to the Travelers.
She wasn’t here by herself though, but Valen wasn’t on her heels. The steel dragon was in his human form for now and he was quite calmly strolling about the remains of this ancient city. Last time she had seen him, he was wearing the shirt that had been specially made for him to shift halfway from human to dragon. He had a loose fitting jacket over the top of that and simple pants and boots. He wasn’t armed and had his hands shoved in his jacket pockets. She wasn’t worried about him at all though. He was a dragon after all. He could take care of himself.
Then she found herself in front of a large building. The crumbling remains of a cathedral rose up as in defiance to the crumbling around it. She smiled to herself and made her way to the building. Such large and important structures often had reminisces of power that continue to linger even after they were no longer called upon. Perhaps she would find something useful inside…
The large door was open slightly so she simply turned sideways, tucking her blood red wings tight against her back, and went inside. Just inside she paused and looked around. There was someone already here. He seemed to be here on his own, but she wasn’t sure of that. Ornell was inclined to slip back outside, but that seemed much too over precautious. She tucked a stray dark gray bit of hair behind a pointed ear and said calmly, “Hello. I wasn’t expecting anyone else to be here.” The hair was simply too short to stay behind her elven ear and went right back to where it had been.
