Gray stone towered over the wood elf's head as Kalix's eyes strained against the sun to see the top of the Temple of Arms. Unfortunately for Kalix, he wasn't told the name of the place; he just happened to ask a random stranger what this particular building was for, and the response pleased Kalix so much, he even dismissed Enelya for the afternoon to give her some rest. It had been some time since Kalix had the chance to test his blade against another sentient, and his eagerness was nearly bursting at the seams.

The view outside was amazing. The place looked like a small castle and very out of place with the houses around it. Kalix eyed it with a light scorn and muttered about how they need to plan these things out before plopping such a thing in the middle of a residential area. Nevertheless, he was still excited to see the interier.

The first floor look like, above all things, a temple, which Kalix found rather odd. Ignoring the feeling of familiarity with some of the monuments and paintings around the room, he continued a slow walk towards the stairs that led up to what he assumed must be the training grounds.

His eyes didn't even have to breach the top of the stairs to understand his suspicions were correct. The jarring clank of steel on steel reached his ears about halfway up the stairway, and his eyes confirmed his ears when he reached a large training room with straw dummies scattered about the walls.

---

Hours later, Kalix stood quietly with his sword flat against the side of one of the many straw dummies lining the edges of the circular training room. His head cocked this way and that, studying the angles of the blade, his approach, and any possible openings the swing left for his opponent. He took a step both left and right to study those angles as well, but neither one satisfied his critique. With an uncertain smirk, he strode backwards and placed his free hand on his chin in thought. He sighed, disheartened, and gave up. Eyeing the room for a nearby bench, he shiethed his long sword and headed over to it. It was so dull having only dummies to fight. If only he could get a live person in here to spar with him, then things might liven up a bit; but who would want to pick out the wood elf in a city full of humans? The only sort Kalix could think of were the ones that wouldn't treat it as a spar...

((OOC: Hope you don't mind me posting!))

Thuk! was the noise of a arrow being loosed, and then hitting a dummy square in its straw chest. Hymwen stood in the doorway into the training grounds, the short bow still in her hands, till she smiled, satisfied, then she strode into the hall. When she shot her arrow, she of course missed anybody around her. Most took no notice of the wood elf ranger, which she didn't mind, she actually liked not being noticed. She made it to the dummy she had struck with her arrow, then plucked it from the dummy and stared at the arrow tip a moment, and inspected it, till she thought it was junk, and threw it to the wall.

It had been forever since she was last in the Temple of Swords, and that was when she was training with Kona. She smiled slightly at the memories of that. It was so long ago. She wandered a bit to the wall, where she unstrapped the quiver full of arrows off her back, and set them to the ground, along with her bow. She then took Neversleep out of its scabbard, then she went back to the dummy, and twirled the longsword in a near expertly fashion, then, she struck out with the weapon, lunging forward. She thought of her training she had with Kona, and remembered all she could.

She tried different variations of lunging, then a couple of slashes from the sides, till she got bored with that, and stood still, staring at the dummy a moment, before lunging once more. Afterwards, she twirled the blade once more, before sliding it affectionately in its scabbard again.

Her gaze wandered over a few of the people here, but saw no one of real interest, till she noticed another wood elf, and that sparked her curiosity a little, but she stayed where she was, and turned to the dummy again, wondering if she should continue practicing or not. She wanted to get into the forest again, where she belonged, not in a temple to a goddess. She thought of Frolba, who was waiting outside for her, with Jester. Both familiars were loyal, and she very muchly considered them good friends, even though, they don't understand her really.

She rested her hand on the hilt of her sword, considering to stay, or to go.
