Title: Gray Skies, Always Beautiful

Hymwen - December 6, 2007 02:47 AM (GMT)
The day was calm and beautiful, well, it always was to Hymwen. The sky was actually a cloudy one. The sky gray, and sad looking to most. Every now and then, snow fell, and the ground was covered with a thin layer of snow. Snow also covered most of the leafless trees. Hymwen found it beautiful. Nothing was more beautiful then the nature of the world.

And today, she was enjoying this nature. She walked through the forest, wrapped in a fur lined cloak. A bow and quiver of arrows on her back, and anyone who saw her, would know she was a ranger, and a elf. She had shoulder length brown hair, and pointed ears poked through the hair. Her eyes were a green, the color of a leaf in summer. At her side, hitting on her side lightly, was a magical sword, that shimmered with power.

Her feet crunched on the snow, and the twigs underneath. Several times she considered resting, but the land was so beautiful, she didn't want to stop. Her hand often caressed the bark on trees, feeling the roughness of it under her hand.

Finally, she stopped in a small clearing. She looked up at the gray sky, and smiled. More snow would be coming soon. Suddenly, she heard a noise, and her head turned sharply to the side, and she saw a deer. She watched it, as it watched her for a while. She smiled slightly, as it suddenly sprinted off. She thought deer wonderful, and graceful creatures, even though, she often went hunting for them. They were good meat, though, she often felt guilty about killing them.

She shook her head, and started walking again. Wondering where Frolba was.

((OOC: Sorry its a bit small))

Kyrus - December 6, 2007 03:12 AM (GMT)
Kyrus strode along through the forest humming happily, his thoughts were on the half-elven woman he had met recently at the Taras Docks so he was a little distracted. He was not paying attention to what was before him, "Xenith," he said remembering her and when they had met at the Docks "quite a pretty name that." His Gryphon, Solomon trailed along behind him, keeping a watchful eye on his owner. Solomon gave a screech which made Kyrus look up in order to avoid walking into a tree which would have been highly embarassing to say the least, not to mention he now noticed a female wood elf nearby. He looked up and smiled at her "Hello, I am Kyrus," he said in his usual warm greeting, he studied her as he waited for her to speak "this is a very beautiful place isn't it?"

Hymwen - December 6, 2007 03:24 AM (GMT)
She heard a noise nearby again, this time she knew it wasn't a deer. She stood still. Listening. It could be a bandit, but then, it didn't sound like one. It was someone talking, and then, a loud screech. She turned on the spot, and saw the other elf, and at the gryphon. She watched them a moment, not moving, or smiling. She didn't know if this person was good or evil. She waited a moment, and when he started to speak, she started to relax a little. She stood a little straighter, and grew a little less tense.

"Hello... It is beautiful. More beautiful then anything." She said, very calmly. She looked at the gryphon again, and a frown of disapproval grew upon her face. Obviously, the creature was a pet, or something of the sort. Hymwen hated the idea of keeping such creatures, she believed they should be kept free. She remembered help free one form bandits.

"I'm Hymwen." She said, again in her calm voice. She looked the man up and down, then stared at the gryphon again. But she supposed it was also a bit cruel to have a pet eagle, though, Jester basically came with her on his own free will. She smiled.

"What brings you out here, Kyrus?" She asked politely.

Kyrus - December 6, 2007 04:00 AM (GMT)
Kyrus smiled warmly at her and Solomon regarded her with a curious twinkle in his eyes "I am out here purely to walk in the beauty and have some adventure," he said and looked at her "It is a pleasure to meet you Hymwen. I must say I was kinda hoping for some company. Things have been a bit, rough for me lately," he said finding a seat among the grass and looking up at her. His soft blue eyes sparkled in greeting as he looked at her. He smiled and invited her to sit beside him if she wished to, he was always warm and friendly towards people. Solomon found himself a place to rest and sat down his gaze flicking between his owner and Hymwen.

Kyrus sighed "I must admit that I am a bit lonely, not many people like High Elves. But I am not like others of my kind, I am trying to show that i am different from them. That I am not arrogant like they are supposed to be," he explained and looked to her.

Hymwen - December 7, 2007 12:31 AM (GMT)
Instead of sitting, since of the snow, she leaned against a nearby tree, and continued to watch the gryphon, but when Kyrus spoke, she turned her head to listen to what he had to say. She always listened, because she would always try to help. She liked helping others, though, never knew why. She remembered times when she could care less, until the dragon, and everything changed. She continued to listen intently.

"Everyone see elves differently. Most think all elves arrogant, and ignorant. Those who care about others, see them as equals, not as stuck-up fools." She said calmly. Her gaze flickered over the other elf's face, almost like she was searching for something, then her gaze went to the gryphon again.

"Its the same with elves towards humans. Most elves think humans barbaric, and dumb, even though, they are not." Hymwen spoke, her gaze had never wavered from the gryphon. She sighed silently, closing her eyes a moment, and then lifted her head to the sky, eyes still closed. She was listening again, trying to make out any wrong noise, and she heard something, sounding like more footsteps. She cocked her head a little.

Then, her eyes snapped open, and she looked at the high elf.

"Bandits are near. We should move." She said. Though, the bandits were far off, only a elf ranger would be able to hear them. They wouldn't be here for a while, but she didn't want to deal with them today. They were probably just going to the river that was not to far away.

She stood up, and started walking away from where she was, and away from the distant noise of bandits.

"Come." She said to Kyrus, and signaled him to follow. Though, she knew the bandits wouldn't really be a threat, she just wanted more distance from them.

Kyrus Lynin - December 7, 2007 12:52 AM (GMT)
Kyrus nodded and getting to his feet he followed Hymwen, he too did not want to be too close to bandits if he could help it. They trotted along through the forest putting some distance between them and the bandits, he noticed Hymwen looking at his Gryphon a number of times and decided to comment on it. "I notice you keep looking at my Gryphon, Solomon," he said in a curious voice "Why is that?" He had listened intently to what she had said about elves and humans "That is true, our two kinds do not always get along. But I wish they would set aside their differences, both our races could benefit from each other."

Hymwen - December 7, 2007 01:28 AM (GMT)
She smiled ever so slightly when he mentioned how she looked at his gryphon a lot, but it merely interested her how he had one. She shook her head slightly. "I think its because I recently saved one from some bandits. I always believe those creatures should stay wild, and free." She said, even though, thats almost how she felt for all animals and creatures. She walked on, then stopped once she thought they had walked far enough. She stood still and listened, then nodded, satisfied that they went far enough.

"We can stay here now. The bandits shouldn't come up this far. They wouldn't want to wander far from their camps." She merely said, then, once again, leaned against a tree, almost like they hadn't have to have moved.

"If only. But humans and elves have to find something faulty about each other... everyone needs something to complain about." She said, and looked at Kyrus.

Kyrus Lynin - December 7, 2007 03:09 AM (GMT)
Kyrus nodded to Hymwen "Do not worry friend, I do not make him stay. He stays because he wishes to, we have become quite inseparable," he said with a laugh as they stopped out of sight of the bandits "Unforunately you are correct, it will be quite a while before our two kinds are able to set aside their differences." He sighed, wishing that humans and elves would just get along, neither had really done anything to offend the other. He smiled at Hymwen "So my friend, what brings you out into these parts?"
