Title: Red Sand
Description: [open]

Shain Volgornd - December 5, 2007 02:27 AM (GMT)
Shain peered through the strange head gear at the sight around him. Of all places he was to do his work, here was deffinately a low choice. The air was too and and oo dry, the sun was bright, and there was and everywhere. No to mention the strange garb. Shain had bought a set of what these people called desert skin. It was tight yet a little thick despite the thin fabric. It was wound about the person so that sand would not touch the body, and a strange turban like scarf was worn about the face. It would keep his identity hidden, but he was not used to being bound like this on his assignments. He found it rather difficult to keep his weapons concealed in these clothes, and had to ressort to putting most of them above the fabric instead of concealing them against his skin. It was little wonder that the men here kept giving him strange looks with his many items. This put Shain even more on edge, as it was quite obvious that these were fighting men.

Shain moved quickly through the streets, trying to blend in as much as possible. he had to make his kill quickly today or else he would have many of this city's inhabitants out for him. Whyverin and Kythrone where supposed to help guide him through the streets, but he had not heard from either of the umbra for several minutes now. He was litterally lost on the job. His employer had failed to specify where he was to kill, only giving a descriptoin of who. Since he had not met in person, the instructions and payment were handed over together, which sealed an agreement. That ment that until he had completed his task, he was not to contact the employer, nor the employer him At the moment, Shain was cursing himself for this rule of his. He had been here for two days already, and not a drunk or gaurdsmen could tell him what he was looking for. His mood was declining fast, which ment his methods would be sloppy and brutal. He had to get this done soon.

In his musings, he almost missed the sound of a signal horn. The peircing note given by the instrument awoke Shain, letting him notice a new movement in the scattered crowd of the city. They were heading towards the eastern gate, and the cheers signaled an arrival. Without hessitation, Shain quickly buried himself in a small crowd, hurrying along with them. If his two cats couldn't help him, then by Lolth the damned herself, he would do this alone.

Upon reachign the gate, Shain was struck with a welcoming, yet forboding sight. Upon the back of what these people called a camel, a disgusting creature with an enormous growth upon its back, sat a very large man. A very large man with a shaved head, one blind eye with a scar around it, and a medallion encrested with a wind devil upon a dune. This was his mark. This pig of a man had just presented himselof before his killer, and Shain could have laughed. Would have really, if not for the small force of about fifty desert men that accompanied him. Each own carried a buckler, a fighting spear, a scimitar. And each one had untold amounts of bttle scars to prove there worth. "Lolth damn you," he muttered under his breath. He had to kill this man today, before the tenth hour and make it back to Taras in another day. That left him but seven hours to kill this pig. His work was cut out for him indeed.

What am I doing here again? Blasted desert... she thought angrily as she walked down a street of the desert city, known as Istan. Her feet kicked up sand as she angrily strode about. She had no idea why she came, but she just figured to explore, since she has only been in the desert once, and when she decided to come, she didn't remember why she avoided it, until now. She hated the heat, and hated the sun beating down, and wished to be at her home, where she belonged, not in a desert! Sides, she completely stuck out, and got odd glances her way.

She wore her normal dark traveling clothes with leather armor on, and a cloak, and boots, that had sand in them now, and then a bunch of weapons. Two swords at her sides, a glaive on her back, and a small backpack, which was her Bag of Neverending Space, which held all of her other things. And then a young grown umbra following at her heels, and a small fly dragon laying on her shoulder, and a then, a very odd thing followed her. It was a puff of fur, it was known as a Furfur. The most annoying creature ever. Sava had also proved that it was impossible to kill, as she has tried on several occasions, because all it did was follow her. She was so desperate to get rid of it, she tried to have Felix eat it, who refused.

Sava headed towards the entrance to the city, only to find crowds going there. Stopping short, not wanting to enter a crowd, she stood and watched to see who was coming in. She then frowned in disgust at who rode it. These desert people were crazy, as Sava often says to Felix, who sometimes agreed. She glanced at the umbra, who looked annoyed. She knew he hated the desert also and would love to leave, like herself.

She watched the crowds partway for the man on the camel (a animal that Sava thought would be uncomfortable to ride) to come through.

She glanced at the crowds, then took a couple steps back, not wanting to get in the way, or stuck in a crowd. As she went back, her eyes scanned the crowds, and almost tried to think why this person seemed important, why else would the desert people gather about, and the horn go out? Shaking her head, she remembered she could care less about who was important. Her only desire was to go home, and stay there for a long time, away from trying to get along with the races who hate her, and the nobles who keep sending her away, and everything. And when she would get home, she planned to let the servants take a break for a while, so she could be alone, except all her creatures who walk about the home.

She stood still, waiting for the place to clear or something, so she could get out. She shifted from foot to foot, impatient to leave. She would have to remind herself to not come here again.

Shain Volgornd - December 5, 2007 07:53 PM (GMT)
Shain watched the man and his escort for a few more seconds before turning and shoving his way back through the crowd. What he saw had deffinatley not improved his mood in the least. What he normally did over two days he had to do in less than three or so hours. Three hours to study this man and strike, leaving him four hours on the run. Not to mention he had to find Whyv and Kythrone before he left. Hey would be a great help when it came time to act, plus he didn't fell like leavign either here. No telling what would happen to them alone here.

As he shoved through the crowd, he ended up bumping shoulders with a leather clad person. Rather rudely too, but he did not notice the person. he did however notice th umbra, but quickly dissmissed the creature as it was not one of his. He kept shoving people out of his way, a scowl hidden by the strange scarf growning deeper. In the back of his mind, he already knew that this was giong to be a bloody assignment with his temper, but he couldn't have cared less at the moment. He was prepared to kill anyone who stepped in between him and the target, and then go kill the man who employed him for the lack of informatin he had received. And I might just, he thought.

At that moment he received what he had been waiting for about an hour now. Dragon. Shain's head jerked back, his eyes narrowing. "Whyverin!" he yelled suddenly. "Get here now, and bring Kythrone!" He paid little attention to the stares people were giving for his sudden out burst. He could care less about what 'dragon' ment, only that His two companions hury to him at that moment.

Quickly he found a secluded alley where he could wait for the two. Leaning up against the side of the building, he turned his eyes towards the streets again. This time however, somethign new caught his eye. It was the leather clad person with the umbra from before. For some reason, she looked oddly familiar. Shain stood still and watched her from the shade, wondering why she sparked his interest.

Nightwind - December 6, 2007 02:21 AM (GMT)
The Furfur jumped about her feet, only making her more annoyed then ever. Without even having to look, she stomped her foot down upon the dumb creature. There was no noise when she did that, and she just stood there now. Sadly, it didn't die, it managed to squirm its way out from under her foot, but it relieved her annoyance a little. She smirked slightly, but then it didn't help when someone bumped into her, and she suddenly flared with anger.

"Damn fools." She snapped, and started cursing under her breath, cursing the desert, and the people living here. Her hand clenched and unclenched the hilt of her lightning blade. Blackquill woke, hearing Sava cursing to herself. The fly dragon got up, and flew off to a different perch, on a building nearby, not liking the idea of her friend being annoyed.

Sava stopped short in her curses when she heard someone shout. The name was familiar, and then the voice was a little, but she couldn't quite remember who it belonged to. She stared about the crowds, listening. She stood very still trying to figure out who it was. But if it was someone she knew, she wondered why they'd even want to come to this horrible place. She shrugged lightly, as her mood sort of lightened, but it returned as more people bustled past. She took a few more steps back, finally out of the way.

Felix always got out of the way, not wanting to get stuck within the crowd, and he didn't even like how people stared at him.

She felt as if someone was watching her, and she looked about, but saw no one. Some people looked at her, and started talking among themselves, most likely about her. Who wouldn't? It wasn't everyday a person walks in with black and green hair, with leather armor and weapons. She glanced their way, before turning on her heel and started walking away from the gate. She would wait a while, so the crowds would desperse. She walked past the alley, and stopped, glancing at the person, and knew it was the person who bumped into her.

She hesitanted a moment, before walking on, looking ahead. She though something was familiar about him, but she saw him as another desert person, wearing those odd garments.

Shain Volgornd - December 19, 2007 02:55 AM (GMT)
Shain's eyes followed the leather clad woman ass she crossed in front of him, cathcing her gaze flitting to him and away. He saw the famliaraty in her eyes, meaning that somehow she had seen him before. What he could not place was how he could know her. He had spent too long away from Imythess, too long traveling the Underdark, hunting for Shorin, killing anyhting that happened across his path. He owed his humanity to Whyverin mostly, talking to him alone in the infintie black. He forgot much as he had run through the endless maze of tunnels. Perhaps he had seen this person before going beneath the earth. His mind began to dwell on this thought, until the sudden arival of Whyverin interupted his thoughts.

Whyverin burst out inot the street before Shain's eyes. He did register her before she was unnoticable, not seeing from where she came. "Whyverin," he shouted to her, anger and surprise melding together. He did not need this kind of excitment. He did not want to be noticed, yet his faithful friend barges into the center of an unkown street in a rather unstable looking city. He could not here what Whyv was telling the woman. Dragon Friend she was ending telepathicly.

Shain, knowing that whatever little cover he had already had was blown by his calling down of Whyverin, stood errect and stalked to Whyverin, the woman, and the woman's umbra. His mind was already preparing hm for a bloody time in this city, probably starting with the killing of this woman. White eyes flarring, he stopped about two feet to the right of the woman, glaring at Whyv. She turned her gave upon Shain, sending him the same message he sent to the woman.

"I know of no dragon that has befriended me you foolish cat," he spat at Whyverin. Turning to the woman, he opened his mouth to appologize, then stopped. Upon looking at her this close, he recieved an overwhelming mental immage. He saw himself on the back of a dragon, fleeing what looked like some sort of tavern. His mouth hung open for a moment behind the head gear he was wearing, then he shut it slowly. He spoke the only thing that would come to his mind at that moment. "You didn't destroy a tavern and fly me out by chance, did you?"

Nightwind - December 19, 2007 03:55 PM (GMT)
She continued to walk away, grumbling under her breath. She wanted to change into her dragon form, she was annoyed here, and would have wished to tear the entire city apart, and show no mercy about it, but she wasn't going to, it would be giving Sheva satisfaction, and approval toward Sava, and that wouldn't be good. The dragon hasn't seen her mother for years, and that was a good thing. Her mother thought her a true failure, for being kind to most of the weaker races, and she liked to keep it that way, as long as she continued her life like that, her mother would find no interest in seeking her out.

Felix suddenly stopped, and turned around, and she wondered what he was doing, so she turned to look, to see another umbra running towards her, and it looked quite familiar, and then she heard the man who had caught her interest calling for her. She cocked her head at the umbra, who sent a telepathic message to her. Dragon Friend.

"Whyverin." She mumbled, that was the name of Shain's umbra, no wonder it sounded familiar. If it was Shain's umbra, then he was obviously the one calling for it.

Felix growled at Shain when the elf came over, seeming to be angry. Sava cocked her head slightly at the elf, and a smile played across her face. He had no idea who she was before, and she had no idea who he had been, though, mainly because of the odd thing he wore. When he turned to her, she watched him, as he was silent for a bit, while Felix still watched him, growling silently.

"You didn't destroy a tavern and fly me out by chance, did you?"

"Maybe I did... and maybe I didn't. Matters whose asking?" She said, even though, she already knew who he was. She wondered why he couldn't remember her? Sure, she hadn't seen him in a long time, but how many people have you seen with her strange features?

Shain Volgornd - December 20, 2007 02:03 AM (GMT)
Shain was puzzled by the woman's response. Did she know of Shorin, and that was what the question had originated from? Or was is some sort of test? Was he supposed to tell her his name, or give some sign? He would like to know who she was, but without knowing what he was to do, he couldn't find out in his mind. Plus, his time slot for killing was slowly passing. Whyverin was here, and that ment Kythrone had to be somewhere near by. He was now pressed with the descision to talk to this woman and attempt to rediscover a memory he had lost when rebinding himself with Shorin, or to forget her and resume his task.

All this passed within not but two seconds through his mind. Within another second, his mind ran through ways to find a way to answer her question. A few possible ideas came to mind, but one seemed the est. Looking to Whyverin, he spoke aloud to her. "How friendly, and how much do I trust her?" Whyverin looked back, cocking her head for a moment before responding. Name. So he could tell her his name without fear. For him, that was indeed a great deal of trust, for hiss name was not eve revealed to his employers.

He turned his eyes back towards hers. He could trust Whyv with his life, and would take her word. "My name is Shain Volgornd, outcast of the House Shlaylornd of Menzoberanzon, once hunted by Lolth but now free." He spoe in a steady matter of fact voice, his eyes never leavign hers.

Nightwind - December 29, 2007 01:07 AM (GMT)
Sava waited, and watched as Shain seemed to consider what she had said, and as he spoke to his umbra. She was patient, well, tried to be, she wasn't always quite patient. She glanced down at Felix, who was still watching Shain and Whyverin. She looked up into the sky, and saw Blackquill flying high above, though, it was very hard to see the small fly dragon. When Shain spoke again, saying his name, she looked at him, and smiled slightly.

"I know. Just making sure it was. Its quite hard to tell under that thing your wearing." She said, in her dull like voice. "You seem to have forgotten who I am, which I find odd, but oh well. I'm Sava. And I did destroy that tavern and fly you out." Sava said, and cocked her head at him a little. "Last time I saw you, you were a drunken moon elf." She had said the word moon elf with disgust. She let her hand rest on one of the hilts of a sword at her side, as was normal for her to do.

She turned her gaze to Whyverin for a moment. It seemed like it was forever since she had last seen Shain, she couldn't quite remember how many months it has been, she just knew it had been a long time, and during that time, she had been greatly busy she supposed, and hadn't expected to see her friend for a long time, if ever, and least expected to see him here in this desert. She looked at some sand now, a bit far off, as a familiar feeling came at her, it was a fear, but it was hidden well. Sheva was getting closer, she could even be in Imythess for all she knew.

It took a moment for her to remember Shain was here, and she looked up again, and smiled, and decided to ask a question that had been nagging at her. "Why can't you remember me? Or has it been longer then I thought?" She asked, and laughed a little.

Shain Volgornd - January 4, 2008 09:54 PM (GMT)
"I know. Just making sure it was. Its quite hard to tell under that thing your wearing. You seem to have forgotten who I am, which I find odd, but oh well. I'm Sava. And I did destroy that tavern and fly you out. Last time I saw you, you were a drunken moon elf." So she did know him around the time he split with Shorin. He didn't remeber too much from that period only because he was drunk for whatever time he was not in the Underdark. Her name sparked more memories, a lake with the same dragon, and a rainy night. Shain was beggining to wonder if Shorin had targetted these memories espescially when they had merged once more, for he was certain that the drow would have known of Sava. With that bit of informatino, he was certain he could trust this woman even more, for if Shorin erased the memories on purpose, she must be significant to him.

Sava spoke again, and Shain paused before answering. "If you knew me when I was moonelf, you must have known of Shorin. Over the last few months, I have been hunting him down. In the Underdark, I was able to remerge myself with him, but he was able to attack my memories in the process. He attacked a fair bit of yours apperently, because I only catch glimpses of them in my mind." His eyes narrowed for a moment as he focusssed his thoughts on those small fragments, trying to pull from them. He gained nothing from it, however, and continued talking.

"Shorin is gone finally, and I am back to work." Pausing, he added. "I would assume you know what line of work I am in if he figured you knew me well enough that you were important to me."

Nightwind - January 6, 2008 01:40 AM (GMT)
"Yes... I do know a little of Shorin." She said quietly. She remembered the time in the ruins, that was a long time ago, and she rarely could remember that, but she knew it was when she first had knowledge of Shorin. She listened as Shain spoke, and her eyes widened a little. She was little sad that he lost a few of his memories, but she was glad that he was back to himself again. She had truly despised it when he was a full moon elf, because of her hate for them all. Since he could only catch glimpses of her and such, she wondered if she remembered their "half-breeds honor". She smiled slightly, but it was quickly gone.

"I'm glad your back to yourself. I hated it when you were a moon elf." She said, her hate for moon elves obvious again. "And yes. I do know what you do. I hope you remember when you said you'd never hunt me." She said. She has had plenty of dealings with assassins, and she normally killed them mercilessly.

Sava considered all he said for a moment, then looked down at Felix a moment. Shain was a good friend of hers, and she had missed him, but now that she thought of it, she seemed to know more about him then he did of her. She knew what he did as a living, while she must just seem like a warrior to him, though, since she hadn't seen him in a long time, he would have no idea of her trying to get to be a noble, as she has been working on that for a while, just so she could stop being hunted. And then there was the part where he had no idea about her past, like Sheva, who was hunting for Sava, and then Fios. She shrugged a little. At the moment, nothing really mattered. She was just glad to see Shain and to see that he was himself now.

She was also a bit curious as to why Shorin had targeted Shain's memories of Sava, but as the elf said, it was probably because they were good friends.

"Why are you out here in the desert?" She just suddenly asked. She was quite curious as to why he would be out here in the desert, but some people do like it, just not herself.

Shain Volgornd - January 10, 2008 02:39 AM (GMT)
Shain ecalled no such memory as the one Sava mentioned, and turned to Whyverin to confirm it. Just a quick look and a thought, and he nodded. "I don't remeber an agreement, but Whyv seems to trust you quite a bit. I will remeber from now on not to take jobs involving you." His mind began to ponder on Sava more now. Indeed she was dear to him if he had promised noever to hunt her. He was almost sure that that was the reason Shorin had attacked those memories. To hurt him in an unknown way, removing probably his only friend. Other than Kona. Luckily Shorin never met Kona, or Shorin might have died all together before Shain had been able to renew himself once more.

"Why are you out here in the desert?" Shain's eyes, which had been wondering around for a moment, found those of Sava. He knew now that he did not have to refur to Whyverin in trusting this woman, but it did seem odd to him being this honest suddenly. For a breif moment, he hesitated before answering. "I'm here on buisness actually." Pausing, he looked back towards the entrence where his target had entered. "The man that just passed through those gates actually. The pig of a merchant" This reminded him that he still hadn't found Kythrone. Which ment that at the moment, his little "team" was one member short. He looked at Sava again, pondering the notion of asking for her help. He decided against it almost imidiately. Seeing as how he had just met her once more, he was in no position to ask favors of her.

"Where is Kythrone?" he muttered under his breath. Through the scarflike headgear he wore, a muffled grunting sound came through. He was about to embark on a bloody little escapade, and a key member that was supposed to help him was still roaming about. Distractedly, he began turning this way and that, scanning rooftops and allways near them for any sign of the umbra.

Nightwind - January 10, 2008 03:30 AM (GMT)
He doesn't remember much. She looked away a moment, at the entrance, finding it nearly clear. She couldn't wait to get out of here, of this wasteland. She shifted slightly. She wouldn't have put on her leather armor if she knew she would be finding a friend here, because wearing armor in the desert wasn't the most comfortable thing she's felt, which is one reason why she couldn't wait to get into dragon form, and to feel the wind against her wings. She smiled ever so slightly when he said he didn't remember the little "Half-breeds honor", but it wasn't a very cheerful smile, more grim like.

"I see then, that we have lots to catch up on to." She said, but hopefully she wouldn't have to stay here long. She looked at Quill again, who flew down, and wrapped herself around Sava's neck once more. She looked up, and again at the entrance, when Shain said he was on business, and for a merchant. Must be the one on the camel, she thought, then looked at Shain. She wasn't going to stop him or anything from killing the man, since she rarely cared if someone died who she didn't know.

She saw him start looking about, and cocked her head slightly, almost like how a dragon would. "I hope I'm not keeping you up from your job." She merely said, wondering if she would. Sava took no notice of the Furfur that came hopping towards her, but it was a slow process, for it kept getting stepped on but people walking by, but soon it was at her feet, staring at her with buggy eyes. She glared down at it, before bending over, and picking it up, and stuffing it in a pouch, like it was nothing alive.

She considered saying something else, but nothing came to mind. Felix seemed to be getting annoyed at being ignored, but Sava didn't really acknowledge the umbra. It was sort of hard to tell which spoke to her, Blackquill, or Felix, since they were both able to speak telepathically to her.

"Well, before either my friends bite my head off of me ignoring them, I shall introduce you to them. This-" She pointed to the fly dragon who was wrapped around her neck, "is Blackquill. And then Felix." She patted the umbra on the head. She sighed. Having two telepathic creatures with her all the time basically got annoying at times, especially when one is obnoxious, and the other very young.

Shain Volgornd - January 11, 2008 02:40 AM (GMT)
Shain was almost so caught up in finding sighting Kythrone that he almost ignored Sava. It was when she spoke of keeping him from his job that he came out of his frenzied search. His focus returned to her as she began to introduce her pets. His eyes followed her hands indicating the beasts of which she spoke. The small dragon intruiged him, more so than the umbra. He had two, though the second was younger and bit more rebellious than Whyverin. He nodded to each of the creatures in turn, then spoke to Sava. "Sorry for becoming distracted. i was looking for Kythorne, the other umbra that travels with me. It's him that is holding me up, not you." And indeed he was, for now he could see the sun was beggining it's decent.

While he was still anxious to be on the move towards his target, he felt obligated to continue his conversation. It had occured to him, that this might be the only friend he had left at the moment, and he didn't want to let go of something he found out he still had. The only problem was, he also had a reputation at stake. Comming back late ment a decline in his payment, or possibley an attempt on his life. His eyes glanced at Whyverin for a moment, searching for...something. He wasn't sure what it was, but he needed to be sure of what he might do. Thankfuly, he found it in the cat's eyes.

"Actually," he began, "the job can wait. I'm not in too much of a hurry to complete it." Shain had decided that he would kill the man on his own time. That was how he once did it, aand he found that it releaved the stress of keepign a schedule. If the employer gave him problems, Shain would eliminate him as well. "Catching up wouldn't be too bad of an idea. I lost track of time on the surface after going into the Underdark. Plus, since I can't remeber you all too well, why not catch up?" In the back of his mind, he reminded himself to punish Kythrone once he was found.

Nightwind - January 13, 2008 01:35 AM (GMT)
Kythorne. Sava never knew that umbra, she only knew of Whyverin. She glanced at Whyverin a moment. She remembered when he first saw the feline, she had hated cats and such, but now, Sava had gotten a liking to them, now, she owned a dark umbra of her own (which she raised from a kit), and then she owned four black cats, who caused mischief about her small palace. She smiled slightly, then looked back up at Shain. "Well, if you need help finding Kythorne, I'm sure Felix won't mind helping out a bit." She said, and grinned, hearing Felix's short protesting replies to that.

She watched Shain, has he was considering something again. Once more, she waited patiently, when he spoke again, she smiled friendly. She was now in a much better mood that he agreed to catch up on things and such, she nearly forgot that she hated this heat.

"Well, I don't know if theres a tavern somewhere here in this blasted city or not, as I haven't been her really long, I've only been here for... a day or so." She said, and laughed a little. "Do you know where one may be? I need to get out of this blasted sun... I was going to leave just now, but, doesn't seem like thats the plan for me anymore." Sava said, and shrugged. She watched Shain for a moment, still very happy to see him again. She wondered what he had all gone through just to find Shorin, it must have been annoying, and she couldn't think what it'd be like to lose memories. She hated even the thought of it.

She glanced at the sun, but looked away quickly. It would be night soon, and she didn't really want to make a journey home now, though, if she still did tonight, she would most likely stop at the Oasis, but once more, she knew she wouldn't leave for a while now, now that she ran into Shain here.

Shain Volgornd - January 15, 2008 02:42 AM (GMT)
"You needn't worry about him. He can take care of himself, though I wish he would report back to me more often than he does." That animal was more rowdy than Whyverin had ever been, plus he had a bit of an arrogant side to him. Shain knew that it would take time for him to properly train the beast. After all, when he had split, Kythrone had favored Shorin to Shain, running off with Shain's drow counterpart. Shain was actually surprised with himself for not getting rid of the bothersome cat, but he had spent good money on him so he wasn't going to throw the animal away. However, fighting him to show dominance, which was apparently the only way to put Kythrone in his place, was the one way Shain knew how to control him. Of course, it only worked for a week or two, then he got uppity again. Shain, however, wasn't going to worry about that now. He had catching up to do with a forgotten friend. The fact that he even had a friend sent him mind spinning, much less one Shorin would like him to kill. A smile crept onto his face with these thoughts, a rare occurrence for him.

"Well, I don't know if theres a tavern somewhere here in this blasted city or not, as I haven't been her really long, I've only been here for... a day or so. Do you know where one may be? I need to get out of this blasted sun... I was going to leave just now, but, doesn't seem like thats the plan for me anymore." Shain nodded in understanding and in appritiation. "Well, I'm gald you don't want to leave right away anymore. i do know of a small tavern off in that," he motioned over Sava's shoulder, "direction. The drink there is decent enough, though a bit warm because of the climate. It's where most of the caravan guards go after there time of protecting wagons is don, but it was a darker coiner for talking." That, plus a really thin ceiling. It was in that corner you could here the faint thumps, squeals of women, and grunts of men passing the time in other ways.

He scanned the streets again quickly to memorize the layout of tis place. It would be a good place to start from when he began his job up again. That, and a good place to start looking for Shorin is he ever showed up.

Shain's eyes noticed that others were now stopping to give him and Sava odd glances, and he realized what a sight they must be. One man rapped so tightly you coulnd't tell what he was with an umbra at his side, and a leather clad woman with and umbra as well, along with her strange miniature dragon. "it might be a good idea to start heading that way," he suggested.

Her gaze was hard as she looked at the people around the city, not liking to be stared at, it was always one thing that got her annoyed, and wanting her to bite their heads of. She looked at Shain again, and shifted her weight unto another foot, pain in her shoulder blades was acting up again, from being in human form to long. She was getting annoyed at that, lately, she has been in human form more then often, and now because of that, it made her shoulder blades hurt, and sometimes her entire body, that would feel like fire, and needles pricking her until she changed, but she hoped it wouldn't be like that this time, when it does, it would also get her into a frantic sometimes, and not realize what she does. She tried her best to ignore the pain, and listened to Shain, hoping it would take her mind of the pain and what could happen.

"Umbras can be a pain sometimes. Felix is definitely." She smirked, her eyes brightening slight,y the green in them more clear. She started to feel a bit uneasy out here, still feeling completely out of place, because she was. She supposed she really didn't belong anywhere, except out in the wilderness, where she does belong, like the forests, but that was her green half speaking. Green dragons often lived deep in forests, while her other half, loved swamps and the likes, so she often liked water places too, and sometimes murky places, though, since she had to dragon halves, she didn't like the dark murky stuff as much. She cursed silently for letting her mind wander again, as she barely seemed to hear what Shain had said next, but she caught enough of it to understand. She glanced over her shoulder, and grimaced a little. A bit warmer. I hate deserts, she thought to herself.

She cocked her head slightly, as she felt the gazes of more people sweep over her, then she looked at Shain when he spoke, and nodded. It would be good to go. She would hate to arise more suspicion about them, especially when Shain had a job to do sometime. She turned on her heel, and started to stride in the direction her friend had pointed off to. She wasn't exactly where, but she believed she remembered seeing a small tavern near here, that may very well be the one Shain had been talking about, and Blackquill confirmed Sava's thoughts, saying that they had passed a tavern earlier in the day, like the oe Shain had sort of described. She had remembered seeing mercernaries walk in, but she hadn't been quite sure what the place had been, she merely thought it was piece of crap. Rotting wood standing out in the sun. She smirked slightly.

She went down the sandy street, more sand got caught in her boots as she went. Felix padded along at her side, till she mumbled to him that he could go off for a while, just not to get in trouble, then she untangled Blackquill from her throat, telling her to keep an eye on the umbra. She didn't want to take them in a tavern, they may cause some trouble, and the keeper of the place probably won't like having large felines roaming in his place.

She turned off down another street then stopped, not far off was the tavern she believed was the one Shain spoke of. She cocked her head over her shoulder to look at him. "That it?" She asked.

Shain Volgornd - January 31, 2008 02:17 AM (GMT)
Shain chuckled lightly at the coment on umbras. "Indeed they can," he replied. His response was followed by an indignant grunt frm Whyverin. he looked at her, his white eyes twinkling a bit. She knew she could be a pain, but liked to pretend she was the most perfect being in the land. Now Kythrone, he was deffinately a pain. Especially now when Shain needed to know he wasn't off killing civilians and actually tring to help him. Since the cat had failed to show up, Shain's suspisciouns led to the latter conclusion. At the moment hwever, these thoughts were out of place. Shian shoved them to the back of his mind, and began to follow Sava as she headed in the direction he had indicated.

They walked in silence, only the sound of the citizens flowed throuh the air. Shain kept his eyes on the alert, quickly and carefully observing everyone they passed. Since his trip to find Shorin, he had become a littl paranoid in open places. Endless days in perpetual darkness had made him over cautious. One never knew what was about to leap out of an over hanging tunnel. Displacer beasts, giant crablike creatures consantly tapping on the stone. Plus his drow counterpart, hiding in crevices, waiting for Shain to finish off one creatue before leaping in with Kythrone. His hands involentarily inched towards his fighting knives as his mind revisited the months he spent in the deep black below the surface.

"That it?" Shain jerked from watching two young bows beat at each other with ragged sticks. His hands, only inches from the hilts, returned to a normal walking position. Shain hadn't realized what he'd been doing, and Whyverin had not stopped im, knowing that he might lash out in surprise. Luckily part of his mind had stayed on task while following Sava. Blinking for a moment, Shain cllected himself, then nodded. "Yes. This is this stingy little place." Looking down at Whyverin, he motioned fo her to wander about as well. Unlike the inn in Taras, he doubted his umbra wuld be ble to join him.

"Shall we procede?" he asked, taking the lead. He opened the door, and was met by the stink of san, sweat, and ale. The smell washed over him, and he grimaced fo a moment. This was quite possibly the worst tavern he had ever been to. Shking his head to rid himself of the stench, he pulled the door wide, allowing room for Sava to enter first.

Nightwind - January 31, 2008 03:02 AM (GMT)
"She kept her eyes on the building, waiting for Shain's reply. Her eyes glanced at the two boys a moment, before shifting to more people who walked into the inn. She was getting sick of taverns, most were disgusting, but Song of Elves Tavern inn was a nice one, not as bad as most, and she figured that this one would be pretty bad, but she ignored that thought as much as possible. When Shain confirmed that it was, she nodded, and let Shain lead the rest of the way. Her eyes glanced about again, then turned her attention to the inside of the tavern when the elf opened it. She grimaced at the stench, and she gave out a gag/cough noise in her throat, before, she went inside. There were many men about, some waitresses carrying ale, and the likes for the people. It was crowded, and she didn't like that either, but she had plenty of dealings being in crowds, she just didn't like the way most men looked at her, especially in this place.

She glared at most people, almost daring them to do anything. Her hand touched the hilt of her lightning blade. If she could, she'd change into dragon form and burn this place to the ground, but she was here to catch up with a friend, not start fights, as they were getting to her a bit, seeming to make her feel... strange. Whenever she killed, she always felt like her mother was applauding her work.

Sava shoved her way through the crowds, and not being too kindly about it either. When she reached an unoccupied corner of the tavern, she slid a chair away out from the table, and slid down unto the chair, her gaze flitting from one person to the next, and looked some up and down to see if they carried weapons. She was nervous here, uneasy for some reason, it was a different uneasy feeling, then like the one she felt outside. She shuddered slightly, before she looked at Shain.

"I'm glad that we can catch up on things. There have been many changes in my life, and... things that I've never told you before." She had hesitated before saying that. At first she wasn't sure if she should tell him about her mother who was probably trying to kill her, or not. She trusted Shain with her life, but now, since he lost most of his memory of her, she wasn't so sure, but she supposed that wouldn't keep her from keeping all her secrets locked away inside her. Her eyes wandered over the many people in here. She leaned back in her chair. "When I think about it, theres a lot I've never talked about, even if it wasn't that much of a secret. Like being a Shadowdancer. And how I despise all the gods." She said, her gazing still wandering over the crowds, looking like she was searching for something, then shook her head, and cocked her head towards Shain.

"I guess since you lost most of your memory of me, it gives me a chance at telling you more about me, things you never knew. No one knows much about me." She said, smirking slightly. She liked to keep to herself, and was never really good with friendships or anything, but she decided to let at least one friend to know more about her, instead of none at all.

Shain Volgornd - February 14, 2008 02:48 AM (GMT)
Shain loosed the lead to Sava once they entered the tavern, following her to a seat in a less occupied corner of the inn. He once more witnessed the reason why he despised the horrid city of Istan as he followed, peering about at the half drunk men, tavern wenches, and the stingy, overly large woman that ran the place. She reminded him of a grotesquely over sized toad that had been left out in the desert until it had dehydrated to the brink of death. Her smell didn't help convince him she was entirely human either.

Shain shoved after Sava, white eyes glaring about. most men were already drunk enough, even at midday, that they didn't mind mind being pushed. Or rather they were too busy with other, more important tasks to even notice the hustling. Tasks such as poring ail, beer, and every other sorry excuse for alcohol down their gullets, the gullets of others, and the fronts of the tavern wenches' dresses. Shain sneered in disgust behind his veil, his eyes narrowing. He would love to slit the throats of these sad excuses for humans. More like dignified orcs to Shain's eyes.

They reached the table, and Shain wrenched his eyes from the scenes of defilement, and brought them to stare at Sava. He pulled a chair from its resting place under the edge of the table and sat down. He wouldn't order anything to drink from here. The first day had taught him that that toad woman did not brew her ales like normal people would, nor did she store the ones imported properly. Perhaps she even added her own special spices to those, for Shain had never tasted such a wretched excuse for elven wine than the one she served him on his first night.

"I'm glad that we can catch up on things. There have been many changes in my life, and... things that I've never told you before. When I think about it, theres a lot I've never talked about, even if it wasn't that much of a secret. Like being a Shadowdancer. And how I despise all the gods. I guess since you lost most of your memory of me, it gives me a chance at telling you more about me, things you never knew. No one knows much about me."

Shain stared at her behind his veil in shock. The tone in which Sava spoke to him was one he had never heard before. Not since Shorin had deemed it prudent to wipe the memory of her from his mind. The actual sound of trust from one he had not know for an hour it seemed, though even Whyverin claimed that he could lay his life in her hands. Not knowing how to respond, he blinked, held up his hands for her to pause, then undid his head gear. His hair fell around his face, longer than it had been with three or so months to grow. It still retained it's dark sheen, covering his face down to his chin until he swept it back. His face was harder than it used to be, and lines of worry and fear now circled his eyes. His eye were still white, though now had a near constant determined, alert look about them. They did not sit still for long. They were, however, focussed on Sava at the moment he began to speak.

"Am I truly such a trusted friend to you? I do not mean to doubt your words or our past, but I find it hard to believe that I had anyone left to trust. I..." he paused and a pained look flashed across his face. Deep within him, a pang of guilt and regret shot through his chest. After surfacing once more, he believed himself alone again and had not tried to reestablish any sort of connection. Now he realized he did have a connection, but lacked the knowledge of how to begin anew. These thoughts were driving him into a near frantic mode.

Taking a deep breath, Shina calmed himself and organized his thoughts. Then he spoke again. "I'm sorry for the outburst." he said quietly. Thinking quickly, but not becoming frantic, he thought of something to follow with. "Have you know other friends or relatives in which you can confide?" If she said no, Shain would be shocked. To be the one person in which a soul could share thoughts with would be...immense for him. He doubted such an answer though.

Nightwind - March 2, 2008 08:00 PM (GMT)
Her dark eyes looked at Shain as he undid his headgear, and she noticed the change he seemed to have, but paid it little attention, though she wondered about the worry and fear she thought she saw. She has seen fear many times in ones eyes, first in her siblings eyes, as they saw their littlest sister tearing them to shreds, then in those she often intimidated and others she killed. Fear was horrible to see sometimes, but sometimes Sava enjoyed seeing fear in others, just not around her friends. She closed her eyes slightly, but they opened once Shain started to speak, and she looked into his eyes, which were on her.

"Am I truly such a trusted friend to you? I do not mean to doubt your words or our past, but I find it hard to believe that I had anyone left to trust. I..."

She grimaced slightly, and for a moment forgot that he lost all memory of her basically, and that was pretty sad to her. Her best friend probably couldn't trust her as much as she does, and she realized that right now, she couldn't trust like she used too, at least, not for a while anyways, she would have to keep things to herself for a longer time. To let all her secrets spill to one she couldn't trust as much anymore wouldn't be a smart thing to do. She stayed quiet, her eyes seemed to become hard, and looked more draconic then normal.

"I'm sorry for the outburst."

She merely shook her head, not minding at all, she felt guilty for what she had even said earlier.

"Have you know other friends or relatives in which you can confide?"

She thought of Romanus a moment, then of all her other friends, but soon all her thoughts strayed towards Fios. Sighing silently, she merely shook her head slowly. "I have plenty of friends, and... no relatives. To tell the truth, you were my most trusted friend. There was someone who I trusted more then anyone, but, he's dead to me, but even he did not know all of me. Like I said, no one knows much of me." She said, then thought a moment, then just shrugged. "I suppose I should just keep it that way." She said calmly.

She thought of Sheva, and wondered what would happen once her mother would find her. No one crossed Sheva, it only meant death. Her mother had no feelings it seemed, and only like to torment people, or anything, Sava was a little afraid of facing her mother. She also figured that she wanted to tell someone abut her past and her secrets because of her fear of her mother and what the black dragon might do to her. She looked down at the table, her eyes darkening. Her hand rested on one of her swords, and she stroked the hilt, taking in the comfort of it at her side in case she ever needed to use it.

She finally looked up, and smiled slightly. "I must seem really out of it today." She said, her voice seemed quieter.

Shain Volgornd - May 30, 2008 01:24 PM (GMT)
It struck Shain that he was her closest confidant. And he had gone to chase his alternate self and lose all of his memories of her. She was making him feel extremely guilty, something Shain doubted she was doing on purpose. Shain saw her eyes take in the changes to his face. They were something he himself had to deal with. The underdark had driven almost to paranoia, chasing after Shorin with little to no rest for what would be the span of days above ground. There had been no time there however. He shuddered a bit, then drove the thoughts from his mind.

The signs of regret were very evident of Sava’s face as he spoke. He himself had pangs of regret for crushing her hopes as he did, though he did not do it one purpose either. If there was anyone to blame, it would have been Shorin. The fowl bea…Shain grimaced and shoved the thoughts further away. The damnable drow was hard enough to forget without Shain constantly comparing everything to that experience.

“I know that feeling,” he said in response. He himself had built a life about keeping others away. It was painful at times, but it provided protection. That was what Shain was after the most. Protect his heart, his mind, and his body. Letting others in normally crushed these things. He heard Whyverin snort at him, and he guessed she knew what he was thinking. She seemed to approve of Sava very much. And couldn’t understand why Shain was being so distant.

"I must seem really out of it today." Shain looked at Sava again. The he chuckled, a grin split his stony visage. “You’re out of it?” he asked with amusement. “I just found out I have a friend who only my cat remembers and apparently likes to tear through taverns with me on her back.” The words were out before he knew it, and they only lead him to laugh a little more. “Perhaps we’re both ha little out of it at the moment.”

Bastian - May 30, 2008 09:14 PM (GMT)
Bastian had gotten in Istan city. After all, after having left the academy of magic, lonely, he did not wanted to be with someone, and with the heat in the desert, nothing is worst then getting close to someone. He was having his black and red on the end of it, his robe. He had his hood on also, nad black clothes in the desert is not the best idea, but the fact of beeing a pyromancer helped him a bit to endure.

He was walking around still deep in his thoughts. His task to pass at every temple, gathering knowledge, spells anything to help him on his quest. Tyranny, danger, absolutly everything. Just a reminder of not acting as foolishly as he once did. THe scars on him. Undead's job. Every monsters he would face would die. Elves of all kind, other humans, good hearted beeing, the pyromancer would look after them. Were-wolves, undeads vampires, and other monsters were already doomed.

While he wwalked around he bumped in a drow and fell on his butt, dropping his twoo spell books.
"Ouch, sorrycolor=darkblue]e gathered his stuffs and looked at the feline beast beside the dark elf.[/color]"Whoa, nice pet you have there. Can i pat him?Bastian liked animals tough, he did not knew why but he had no problem and would not hurt one unless he had to.
