Imythess > Taras Arena > Practice

Title: Practice
Description: (Open!)

Hymwen - November 25, 2007 06:04 PM (GMT)
Hymwen decided it was time to test out her skills. She was good with her blade, but she was still not an expert, she needed to practice every now and then, and so far, it has been forever since she last practiced it seemed.

The elf ranger walked into the arena, that seemed empty because there were no contests or anything. Here and there, there was a few people to were practicing together, and some practicing against a straw man, which was straw put together on a stick, in the shape of a person. Most people hacked at them.

Hymwen went to the side of the arena, slipping off her backpack, and then pulled Neversleep out of its scabbard. She balanced the weapon on her hand a moment, and smiled. Her magic sword was always perfect in balance. The sword shimmered, and glowed, as most magic weapons. She swung the blade in a few swift movements, and then a few lunges, as she was told, longsword were used for lunging mostly.

Soon, she was moving around swiftly, with a flurry of all sorts of attacks.

After a few minutes, she stopped, and twirled the blade in her hand, before letting the tip go into the dirt ground, and she took a long deep breath. She looked about her, seeing if there was anyone who would want to do a little practice battle. That would be nice, to just practice with someone and not having to worry about them being a bandit or something. So far, she had been through a lot of dealings with bandits, though she never did mind, the more bandits she got rid of the better Imythess would be.

She closed her eyes a moment, reflecting the day a gryphon could have been killed. She smiled. She had stopped that, it was good to save that beutiful creature, and she even had help from a friend. She snapped out of her own thoughts, and glanced about the arena again.

Eliel - November 26, 2007 11:24 PM (GMT)
Eliel danced with the human, a tall muscular sword wielder. As the Kellen man slashed and thrust, Eliel used his greatest weapon to his advantage. His weapon was more or less unique, using claws and an indestructable material as a gauntlet, giving his hand-to-hand skills a whole new edge.

As the sword came in, Eliel blocked with one hand, simultaneously slashing out at him with another. Eliel was more or less toying with the man, seizing the blade of the sword on a thrust, twisting it away, and pulling himself by the man, all without a scratch. these gloves were relatively new, yet he had been using his hands for a much longer time than this man had used a sword.

The kellen was seemingly a novice, quite clumsy with a blade. He mainly used his strength to his advantage. seizing the blade a last time, the claws of his left hand retracted, swiping down to collect the nearly black dagger from his belt. the small blade arched up to the man's neck, ending the duel.

Eliel backed away and bowed, looking around the area for a new partner. He was not immortal, however. Sitting down on a stump, he picked up his flask and took a large swig of water, resting up. A young wood elf seemed finished with her match. perhaps she would agree to a duel.

Standing from his stump, he retracted the claws, replaced the dagger under his clothing, and approached her with no obvious weapons. with a bow, he sent his request to her telepathically. "If you do not mind, i would like very much to practice with you. If you do not, i perfectly understand." He looked her over, his eyes pure black orbs, gold specks standing out.

Hymwen - December 5, 2007 04:41 PM (GMT)
Hymwen caught sight of the half-breed elf fighting the human. She watched them a while, and was wondering how one could have indestructable gloves, but she soon remembered the rumors she heard of about some gloves that a man sold at Balefire. Hymwen had been staying at Balefire at the time, but wished she hadn't, she rarely left her room, when she could, she left the city, to come to Taras, which she liked a lot better.

When the other elf's match ended, she looked down, and her eyes closed again for a moment. When she heard the voice, she looked up, to see the elf there. A small smile came across her face. Like usual, she would be nice, as she hated to be mean.

She nodded, and bowed a little herself (which she always hated to do), and she continued to smile a bit. "I'd love to do a practice round." She said, quite cheerfully. She looked him up and down, and saw no weapons on him, so figured he'd fight with the same thing he did the human.

She lifted her sword up from the dirt. Anyone right away could see it was magic. She took a couple steps back, and twirled it in her hand a moment, before putting the tip down at the ground. She bet he would be a lot better then herself, since she was only nine-teen years old, she was still considered a child among most elves, but when she was young, she was trained to fight, and farm also.

She remember she had always done practice duels with her twin, it was always fun, till the dragon came to ruin everything. But she got over that, except for being afraid of dragons.

"So... whats your name? I like to know the names of my opponents." She asked, as she watched him.

Eliel - December 11, 2007 12:35 AM (GMT)
Eliel gave a large grin and flexed his fingers. She was a cocky one, indeed. Her sword was no doubt enchanted, and she seemed to underestimate Eliel. Many have fallen under similar assumptions.

And many have died.

"My name is Eraspeola Usreanac, or Eliel. I am ready whenever you are." He gave her a second look-over and smiled. The odds were in his favor. She was quite young, perhaps too young for eliel to even think about fighting. Still, she had accepted the duel, and he was not about to give up. He kept down the laughter and motioned for her to start.

Hymwen - December 11, 2007 02:14 AM (GMT)
She cocked his head at him, and smiled again. She may look like she wasn't a very experienced fighter, but she had see, and done many battles. Just because one was young, doesn't mean they didn't know how to fight. She loosened her grip a little on the blade, never liking to hold it tight. She lifted Neversleep up, and went into a battle stance.

"And I am Hymwen Darkstar." She smirked, then, suddenly jumped forward, lashing her sword out in a lung. She was quick, and graceful about. Every move well timed, and practiced. Her muscles tensed, as she readied for a block from Eliel. Since she had seen him battle with the human from Kellen, she had seen how he fought, but she had only seen a little, and was ready for anything to come, as long as she didn't get angry, like she did sometimes, which was never really good, and she hoped this elf wouldn't taunt her, and such in the battle, like Konahomaru had done.

Hymwen frowned at the thought of Kona doing that, always insulting her and getting her angry on purpose, and it annoyed her how he did that, but it helped her, she supposed.

Eliel - December 11, 2007 04:13 AM (GMT)
Eliel was surprised, as the girl was quite stronger than expected. He twisted to the side, letting the blade bounce off the back of his hand. He reached out and backhanded the blade away from himself, in an attempt to throw her off-balance. Eliel spun around her and leapt back, facing her from about three and a half yards away.

Eliel was no simple brawler, fighting without any style but charging in. He used his hands as his main choice of attack, instead of the easily deflected sword, or the clumsy axe. And very few weapons had the flexiblity of his hands, or the capability to seize a weapon.

Quite pleased with himself, Eliel had not even had to reveal his main weapon yet. the claws of his wicked gauntlets were still retracted. No matter how good he was, the opponent he faced now had the agility of youth and the strength of a swordsman. Eliel grinned to himself. She was indeed a worthy choice.
