Title: Melding weapons
Rothardan - October 22, 2007 03:35 PM (GMT)
I think it should be great if we could meld weapons together so we could combine their effects. For example: take my weapons.
Rothardan has a Holy Longsword enchanted with Holy. He also has the Force Blade from the Birthday Bash. If we had a melding weapons service, then the new weapon would be:
Holy Force Blade enchanted with Holy
A blade made and favored by Paladins. Touched with holy magic, it is nearly as powerful as an Angelic Sword. It is able to fire bolts of holy energy from its blade. The bolts lock on and 'track' the target, very rarely missing. When they hit, they do moderate amounts of force damage.
Now of course, there would be limitations. For example: the combined weapon would still have to have only two augmentations to it. So if you wanted to meld two weapons with two augmentations each, you would have to choose which two would make the grade.
Now why is this idea good: Customization. It would allow players to create their own weapons in effect and it would basically be fun to do.
So what do you think?

As I am not an admin, I can not have any real say in the matter.
But as a god, moderator, and roleplayer I think it sounds like a fine idea, and if one wanted to press the matter they could perhaps work out the limitations of such a thing for the admins, taking away from the whole: "Yea, but I don't wanna do it" factor.
I'll help out with anything to push the idea along.

I don't exactly see why you would want to do that other than to move your holy enchantment from your broadsword to your Force blade as you have already made the energy of the force blade holy. The weapon itself is quite powerful for being an item that few hold. Also if it is not held by many paladins then it certainly can't be favored by them. Then again if it's the overdose of holiness that you want to show on your forceblade I guess that would be within the rules to do so.
You could merge the two weapons into a double-bladed weapon and allow both ends to either share abilites and two enchantments or in terms of abilties and enchantments have them only effect their respective end of the double weapon.
Putting that example aside, Merging/combining is within the rules, but making it into an actual service is not so grand idea. Paticularly when there are armor and weapon enchantments that are already supposed to cover those bases. That is quite within the rules as you are allowed to tweak items and such, just don't expect to get an ultrapowerful artifact out of the mix.
Rule I reffer to:
| QUOTE |
| Replacement Items: If there is a specific weapon you would like, but the shops does not have that item, you may buy the closest thing to it and change the weapon's (or any other item, except spells) name and description to fit the specific weapon you want. You cannot, however, buy a Longsword and call it a Masterwork Longsword after you buy it. You also cannot make your weapons and items any more powerful than they already are. A Longsword is simply a Longsword, unless you buy an enchantment for it. It is best to clear such item replacements through an Admin beforehand. |

Well, really, this woudl only be useful if one of the two weapons being melded was a rare one, such as the Force Blade. Otherwise, it'd be pretty pointless to use this instead of just buying oen weapon, and putting the desired enchantments upon it...

I actually meant merging two weapons to make one weapon, not a doublt pladed weapon. But I still see what you mean.. I also didn't know that merging and combining was within the rules (and I've been here for about a year folks <_< ) so I think this topic is moot to be honest..
Thanks for pointing that out Ace ;)
