Title: The hunted hunter
The Destroyer - October 6, 2007 05:29 PM (GMT)
The destroyer was sitting in his house, and like allways with his hood on his face. His long, white hair was the only thing you could have see exept for his clothes.
Then, Another drow named Galinath Enterd.
Galinarth was a massanger is the service of "The doom bringer" - another mysterius man like the destroyer. "The doom bringer" was the head of the Brigadeth Der - a group of assins, that brough terror in the big drow city. Many poeple gave them money so they will kill someone, and The destroyer was one of the head killers. When he saw Galinath, He was sure that "The doom bringer" needs him again.
Who do I have to slay this time? Eynalis asked.
Oh, no one. I am here to tell you that "the doom bringer" is pleased for your kill. It turned him richer then ever.
So why do you carry a dagger? You are a massanger of the Brigadeth Der, no one will dare to harm you.
Because, well, The meadow that you slain her husband seeks for revange. And you have no idea how rich she is. And well, rich poeple pays well, and this is why The Doom Bringer is rich.
The destroyer was held be fear - he knew that The doom bringer is no fool - sending a massanger to kill? He has a better plan. And why does he tell him? Any smart person will just stab without letting the victim to know what's going on.
Then, The destroyer realised what's going on - there are more killers outside.
Well, the dogs are barking loudly today
As Galinath said that, 2 drows Enterd from the door, and a nother one came from the window. The destroyer knew he can't defeat them - so he took his katana out and slashed Galinath. He then slashed the one near the window, but got stabbed while doing this. So he then jumped outside from the window with his blade infront of him - if he will crush at someone, so will the blade. He did crushed at someone( and well, killed him), but he was circled - from one side by the wall, and from the other by the assasins. There were five of them, and another two in the house will soon join them. They all had daggers, and The Destroyer knew he can't win. But he will take few of them with him - He will never give up life so easly.
He healed himself and was ready for battle - his last battle.
Rith - October 6, 2007 08:41 PM (GMT)
The dark elves were quite pathetic. They favored a cruel goddess thatg set them against each other making them no better than tub filled filled with crabs, each one trying to bring the others down and come out above the others. It made them their plans to take of the surface no more than simple dreams that would never ever see fruitation and it made them ever so easy to manipulate. Assasins were to be found in all Drow cities and most formed guilds for their own safety, but joining a guild you couldn't trust was always a matter that many assassins didn't get the chance to think twice about. Rith decided to amusing himself, by exposing this interesting flaw. There was of course buisness with this pleasure; Brigadeth Der had cut off a few of Rith's Drow black market merchents and worse the fabled Doom Bringer had managed to let the prey Rith had tasked him with slip from his grasp and tried to cover up the failure without finishing the task.
Infiltrating the secretive Brigadeth Der had been easier than he thought, though it was only a matter of cracking the right minds. After studying the guild's workings, Rith found the perfect way to turn the guild against itself. The Destroyer was high up on the ladder, but not enough to make him immune to Doom Bringer's lust for gold. Rith found it quite easy to manipulate the widow of the Destroyer to use her own small fortune to exact her revenge on her the Destroyer by ordering his assassination. A enough money was paid up front to entice Doom Bringer, but Rith would likely see to it that the Drow died before he got paid the rest of his promised gold.
Disguised as a strange robed pumpkin-headed figure unseen in the darkness that surrounded him, Rith watched with cold calculating eyes from a nearby roof top as he watched the unlucky drow's fate unfold. The so called Destoryer was quite out matched by the sheer numbers before him. He'd likely die without aid. Rith silently pondered the thought of aiding the drow. It would certainly give the Doom Bringer much more trouble if he kept the man alive. Rith raised his hand as he readied his summon he wanted to wait untill just the right moment, such that The Destroyer clearly knew his fate had been gracefully saved at the last moment possible.
The Destroyer - October 8, 2007 01:48 PM (GMT)
Do me a favour, and when you give my head to the pittifull Doombringer, give him this gift!!
The destroyer shouted. The gift was, well, his katana. He slashed one of them right away, but there were still four over there, one stabbed, and by reflex The Destroyer was pushed to the wall. another three stabs. Another drow felt dead. Another stab. The Destroyer could no longer keep on fighting. He barly standed up.
Another stab. Another stab. Eynalis healed himself, and felt on the floor. He was badly injured.
Well well well. Look what we have here. The mighty Destroyer lying on the ground, dying. Defeated. Honorless.
What do you know about honor...murderer?
When shall we have the honor of seeing your real face? Before or after you die?
All the others cheered. The Destoyer's face and name were the two greatest mystories after Doombringer's in the Briggadeth Der.
Never...
The destroyer said with his last breath.
The assasin laughed, and spitted on the Destroyer.
He kneeled, and grabbed his hood. He was about to to take the hood down, and then...
Rith - October 8, 2007 09:56 PM (GMT)
Despite the introduction of the grand unveiling, the drow's words did indeed ring true. While the hood was pulled down, the assassins had their attention turned to the the large black hand that had lept from the the darkness and griped the unveiler causing a sickening crunching bones as countless bones were broken. The three remaining assassins turned their gaze to the large golem colored as black as the endless nights of the underdark. Untop of the golem's head rested a small purple-robed figure with a pumpkin head who seemed to be sitting down only the large construct.
Before the drow could decide wether to fight or flee, The golem continued it's attack, sweeping it's arm out towards tow of the Drow. One caught the back of the hand and was smashed agaisnt the wall, while the other gracefully dodged underneath. The one drow that had not been attacked turned to finish the job they had come to down, but fell dead under the weight of an overly large hound that struck him from behind. The one remaing drow didn't bother to finish the job and simply made a run for it, but hadn't made it far before a ghastly figure lept before him. The tried to turn his path away from the creature, but ran straight into golem's open palm.
The other Drow around and in the House had been dealt with by Misery, Torment, and Terror. His pets had done quite welll. Only one survived, Galinath, and he was under Misery's watchful eye and certainly in no condition to try and get away. Rith pondered using him as a messenger or simply leaving his message with the dead body. If the destroyer managed to live it would of course be fitting to let him have that kill as well. But, if that were to happen with the Destroyer alive, the drow would need to have his wounds cared for. He'd die otherwise gauging upon the size and quantiy of the slices that had all managed to kill their target. "Can you stand?" Rith asked as his carved mouth moved as if it were indeed a true mouth before resuming a sinister grin. His voice was dispassionate and almost cruel.
"I have no use of the dead which can repay no favors." The large hound walked towards the golem and obideinetly sat down while the ghastly figure condesced into a large ball of purple light which immediately began to rotate around Rith.
The Destroyer - October 9, 2007 05:30 AM (GMT)
The Destroyer pulled his hood back on, but he just couldnt heal himself. He was too weak. He saw the drow's deaths, and saw the one coming to him. Then, his sight turned black. All he saw was a few happy moments from his childhood. He heard the boy saying somthing, but he couldn't hear what.
Help...me...
was all he could say. As he sayed that, blood came out of his mouth.
He needed medical care, and fast! He started to see more moments, now from his teenagery. He heard from he dying friend, that your body knows when you are going to die. Your memories will grown in age untill you see the last moment of your life as a memory - and then you die. The more time you have, the more memories will be seen. He saw the time he joined the Brigadeth Der - just a few years ago. He have a few minutes left.
Rith - October 9, 2007 02:20 PM (GMT)
(Is Eynalis his real name or is that second post of yours in need of editting?)
Bothersome. Prehaps he shouldn't have waited so long. Peircing through the dieing man's was far easier that slicing a hot knife through butter. Rith could see the man's life flashing before his eyes. The drow needed help, badly or he would die, help Rith couldn't quite give directly. Not even Misery could reapir these large wounds in time. He could bring the man back from the dead, though only as one of the undead or within a new body. Rith would like to avoid either for reliable service from the man before him. The golem droped the crushed assassin that he had picked up earlier and gentley picked up the near lifeless drow who seemed not more than a feeble rag doll. Swiftly after the golem got a good hold of the drow got a hold of the drow darknes swirled around the group and seemed to compress them into nothingness.
When the darkness spread away they were quite a long way away from the Dark Lands. They were in the Healing hall of Taras, though there was no golem there with them and drow rested on the Torment's back. After calling the illusion of a rather presentable human form which only the clerics of the hall would see, Rith quickly yelled for their attention. Help quickly came, but though the healers quite surprised at how the Human and drow had gotten there without their knowing, they did not dally in bringing life back into the destroyer's body with healing spells. Torment and Terror weren't there as after they had gotten the drow on the bed they were no longer needed. After a few minutes, a few spells and a few herbs and ointments, the healers left suggesting that Rith left the man to rest. Rith took his spare time to plant his message on Galinarth. The drow had been spared his life, but certainly wasn't released without due torture. The so called Doom bringer would surley know what had happedened, but he wanted to make sure the drow had the frightful knowledge of the fact that The Lord of Whispers was responsible.
After handling a few other things on his to do list, Rith returned to the healing hall in time to see the destroyer coming too and showing signs of consciousness. He had to make sure the drow knew who it was who he owed his life too. Their were no healers in the room which took away froom the need for illusions and the destroyer would also see him in the form he had been in when he sat atop the golem, a memory that Rith made sure was emphasised within the Drow's mind. "Well, well, well, It looks like somebody is finally waking up," Rith said as he leaned against the far wall of the small room.
The Destroyer - October 11, 2007 01:22 PM (GMT)
(Eynalis is the name of my other charecter, and I'm confusing between the two alot=] The destroyer's name is unknown.)
The destroyer woke up in a bed, with his wounds healed. He had no idea where he was, but the lights hurted his eyes. The surface world... he thought. He heared many roumers about it - there is an orb in the sky that changes the colors. At "daytime", a time that light is everywhere, the orb is called "sun" and it glows in yellow. And at "nightime", where dark is all over the place, it changes the color to silver. It is roumored that there are no tops for this world, unlike the dark lands. Many strange things, like s plant they call "tree" can be founded there. How he wished to see that place! And now, he is there. Injured.
Thank you, sir. I owe you my life. But where am I?
He didn't wanted to say somthing like"how could I ever repay you", because he didn't felt like repaying him. He just wanted to get away from this case. Assasination, surface... So many things in such a little time!!
But who is that man? He doesn't look like an elf, and he has a bright skin. Is He the so called human? He heard of them a lot. He heard, that they are the race controls the surface. Well, he will soon figure out.
Rith - October 11, 2007 11:26 PM (GMT)
(unknown is another way of saying too lazy to figure out :P )
After having surveyed the dark elf's mind, Rith had come to the overall conclusion that the drow would not be quite be as useful as previously hoped. The drow like most of his kind was quite ignorant to many things of the surface world. He had heard of a few things but had seen none. Most of Rith's dealings were on the surface and it was much easier for one to become accustomed to the underdark than for one of the underdark to become accustomed to the surface. But of course this matter of oreintation was not the greatest of Rith's concerns. Rith had been expecting just the phrase the drow wished to avoid. There were a few other personality issues, yet no creature was truly useless to Rith. Rith could still you the drow for revenge against the Doom Bringer, unless this recent near death expereince had removed the drow's backbone rather than bolstered his haterd.
"You are on the surface, and within the Healing halls of Taras to be exact. But that's quite unimportant. The real question is where do you wish to go. The Doom Bringer will search all of the underdark for you. He may even look to the surface for you. He wants you dead and will do the best to ensure he gets what he wants," Rith replied nonchalantly as he looked at the baack of one of the dark green gloves that covered his hands. The rest of his body was covered by his purple robes. All that was reall left uncovered was his strange carked pumpkin head which moved as if it was well more than simply that. Strange to the drow, yes but not so much with never having seen a pumpkin before.
Rith had chosen a room with a window for a reason. The light of the sun would be the Destroyer's first sign that he was no longer within the realm he knew so much. For the reasons explained to the drow it was much safer to be on the surface than within the underdark, until the drow was ready to claim his revenge. "Do you seek the dark ambrosia of revenge or the false comfort of cowardice?" Rith asked as he turned his gaze to the drow. He would most likely wish the former and if so he'd still need time to improve his skills before taking on The Doom Bringer, after all Rith wasn't going to give him full support in that task.
The Destroyer - October 12, 2007 04:53 AM (GMT)
"Do you seek the dark ambrosia of revenge or the false comfort of cowardice?"
What a stupid question. Its more like "hey, are you going to kill yourself or stay wherever you are now?".
Cowerdice? I'm no coward! But I'm no fool eigther. I will stay in this strange realm of yours until things will calm down, until it will be safe. If he send so many assassins he must be payed well. If I'll go back I'll die. But I will go back. But not now.
He will wait here about twenty years, until they will think he was slain by a basilisk in the underdark's wilderness. Or maybe the widow will be killed? She has many enemies back in the underdark. If she is dead, then its safe. But in twenty years, who will remember about one drow managed to escape from being killed? And even if someone will remember, how will he recognise him?
Why do you care, if I may ask?
But maybe with his help he can crush the Dommbringer's mercaneries and slay the Dommbringer? Yes... The doombringer shall be doomed.
Rith - October 13, 2007 06:09 PM (GMT)
Rith smiled at the Drow's ignorance as he probed the drow's thoughts. What was 20 years to an elf, nothing at all. It might have been suffecient if the Doom Bringer were human, but not entirely and certainly this was not the case. "It will never truly be safe until your deed is done. What is 20 years to those that count their age in hundreds? Neither time nor the death of his employer well stop him from looking for you. He will not rest comfortably untill he knows for a fact that you are dead. You were after all one of his best and he expects you will sometime return for revenge. Yet at the same time waiting for the right time to take the fruit of revenge is not cowardice, for there is a time and place for everything," Rith grinned. The Doom Bringer may have been foolish, but he was no fool. The Destroyer had not quite been seen by the widow well enough for her to actually identify the destroyer, which made their failure much easier to cover up. She still couldn't pay the Doom Bringer for his service, for Rith had to it that her money had mysteriously vanished before hand. She was probably dead now if the Doom Bringer had went to collect his money. This would make the Doom Bringer double his efforts in finding the Destroyer.
"Now, I am curious as to why you ask that question. Isn't obvious? You have no freinds, and the only organization that had your back has turned on you. It is your only indetifiable tie to this world. I care because your are the enemy of my enemy. The Brigadeth Der have failed me and sought to trick me. This is not a deed that I can let past without due punishment and I beleive we share that mutual feeling," Rith replied as he walked to the window and gazed out to the overcast morning sky. It was indeed a better morning for eyes that were not accustomed to the bright light of the sun at it's fullest.
The Destroyer - October 14, 2007 01:42 PM (GMT)
The so shall it be! Today, the doom will be brough to the Doombringer! Today the doombringer shall fall!!
The destroyer tried to sit instead of lay down, but he couldnt - his wounds are too deep. Or maybe tomarrow.... He wished that the tomarrow will come - maybe the Brigadeth Der got agents in Taras? He couldn't belive how quick life could crush to nothing but despair and misery. Even those he killed got a better life. He killed them qucikly - the just slashed their neck. Before they notice they died. Now he understood the Doombringer's plans - make him fear of death, and slowly - and painfully - kill him. But why? There must be another reason then the widow, or maybe she is really rich. But, why should he do that? He could just kill the midow and take the money. The Destroyer tried to think if he had any unsolved buisnesses with the destroyer - but he hadn't. How he wished that he just sent a good slayer and kill him when he is asleept instead of all he had benn through. He have no home, no family. No friends, no place to go. And no he will live in a place he didn't knew - and that poeple hate him just because he is a drow. He had nothing to loose by trying to kill the Doombringer - in the worst case, he will just die, what he wished would happend. But he had to take the Doombringer with him to hell - he could not let him to enjoy his death.
Rith - October 15, 2007 04:55 PM (GMT)
Amusing, first the drow gave himself well too much time and then in an attempt to correct his error he gave himself well too little time. Had the drow's mind been impacted by the by his near death expereince as well as his body. While Rith had told the Drow where he was, this wan't enough for the drow to know where exactly he was in refferance to The Doom Bringer beneath the surface. It would certainly take him more than two days to find a path to the dark lands alone and more to get down to the drow cities. This of course made Rith ponder how useful the destroyer indeed could be. "Tomorrow? If you hope not to end your life in the attemept you will give yourself sufficent time to recover from your wounds and regain your strength. And after that you should pull together a plan to pass the Doom Bringer's defenses and finally bring his doom. As I said before there is a time and place for everything. Any good Assassin should know that well," Rith answered.
"Do you have any other questions before I leave you to your own means? I appear to have wasted more time than I had orginally intended," Rith asked as he watched the already busy square on the other side of the window. Rith hoped that he hadn't wasted all of his time, in at least keeping the drow alive after saving him. The act of saving him was quite worth it for it's effect on the Doom Bringer. The big question was, would the so called Destroyer be able to destroy the Doom Bringer and complete the ironic end Rith had planned for the traitorous drow before his own doom was brought?
The Destroyer - October 15, 2007 06:24 PM (GMT)
Plan? I allready have one. You see, us drows keeps a low profile. Infact, most of the Doombringer's agents don't even know I'm hunted! Showing in public that you are killing your allmost best agent for money makes your people hate you, what will sure lead to a revolution, what he would like to avoid. Entring the headquarters should be a problem. Exept for the last chamber - the Dommbringer's throne. There, all the elites guard him. This is where the Crusher stays. The crusher is one of the best warriors in the underdark, but he is a bit too wild. He is more of a berserker, and this is why he is just a guard. Lets just say that many other guilds offerd him quite a lot for the doombringer's head - the same job for more money, and a lot of cash. It won't be a big problem to turn him for our side. The problem is, Doombringer himself and his guards. Doombringer is both a very talented fighter and a mage - his fire spells are deadly enough to crush all of his guards. He own spells that he is the only person that has them.
The Destroyer didn't think that his plan was flawless, but he is sure that his plan is good enough - getting to the throne without fight is easy for a so called assasin. And if he would search - he would find many people from the Brigadeth Der who would galdly stab the Doombringer. One of them is Yesteaszia - one of Lolt greatest priestesses. The only problem is that she could not be trust - she is vile allmost as Lolth herself. And if she would tell - and she would tell if it will be worthy enough - then the whole plan is lost. But if The destroyer chances are big enuogh, she would join him. But in the end, she will surely kill the Destroyer to rule the Brigadeth Der - and no one will be stupid enough to try to kill her to get this place from her. Exept for the crusher. He shows no respact for the Lolth, so he would kill her right after that. This plan was even better - exept for the part of getting killed by Yesteaszia. But he could handle that by just telling her that after the Dommbringers doom she will take the Brigadeth Der. The crusher won't mind, because he hates that priestess, and the Doombringer is the only thing that stops him from crushing her face. Yes, this plan was perfacat.
And, we could turn the priestess Yesteaszia against him. For ruling the brigadeth der, she would turn against him gladly. The Crusher hates her, but teh Dommbringer won't let him kill her. But without the Doombringer? We can promise her that she will rule, promise him that she will rule, he will kill her and then rule, and everyone are happy.
Rith - October 17, 2007 02:47 PM (GMT)
Plot's within plots, was that not what the drow were always up too? The drow's plan threw out a few bits of information that Rith had not managed to investigate yet, and seemed to change the situation even more. The Doombringer obviously had more reasons than just for money. The Doobringer would have likely been able to find out about the Destroyer snooping around too much and planning the Doombringer's end. The Doombringer may have delt with those outside his guild of Assassins in a foolish manner, but the drow by no means was a fool. This of course meant that the Destroyer's failed assassination would distrub the Doombringer even more. This also meant that The destroyer's plans had quite a few holes and if the Doombringer had not acted yet was about to gain some more.
"Either you are a fool or you are saying the Doombringer is one and one doesn't become head of a powerful assassin's guild by being a fool. Doombringer has probably picked up on you gathering enough information to devise this plan and if that is the case then your assassination was more than just for the money. This would also mean that you are labeled as a traitor and he will reward well any agents that bring you to him and destory all those who help you. He is also making an example of you so that no one every thinks to try and dethrone him. The gold was likely just an added bonus. He has likely already seen to it that Yesteaszia will not aid anyone in his demise and if not then you should not underestimate the preistesses of Lloth, they are trained to have one eye foward for oppurtunity and one eye at their back for daggers ready to thrust. You and the crusher would likely die from a plan of her own design and if she doesn't need you this may be even be before you get to see the Doombringer die," Rith replied after a silent moment of comtemplating what the drow had told him and what he already knew of the Destroyer. Rith turned away from the window while speaking so that that he could gauge the drow's reaction from his body movements, despite the fact that he could already do so from the link already made to the destroyer's mind. After Rith was done with the drow he would have to make sure to check up on these newly surfaced details that Rith had managed to miss before.
