Thousands gathered within the stands that rose high above the arena down bellow, all of them awaiting impatiently for the first signs of their daily entertainment to unfold. Restlessness seemed to grow with each passing instance; starting first with fidgeting and then to boos and cries to start the event. But they would all seemingly be quelled all within an instance by a lone voice that would break across the entire arena, “Ladies and Gentlemen, I know you have waited patiently for this event to unfold, so without further ado….I present to you the man within the shadows, Greed and the person of his choosing. Now for his opponents we have the big gnashing beast called Golem. And beside him will follow the Dark mangler, Ainso. So, please put your hands together for our contestants!”

Bowing his head, he would wait patiently for the gate before him to rise and allow him passage to the arena. Once his name passed and the following introductions had been made, the gate slowly rose up high until it disappeared completely into the binds of the ceiling above. Giving the guard beside him a simple nod, he pressed on into the arena, where the crowd seemed to have mixed feelings on his appearance. Paying them little mind, he continued on into the center of the arena, until he would come to a stop just beside the announcer. Turning his eyes to the man, he would call out in a somewhat mockingly tone, “What kind of cheesy names are these!? I mean come on! The dark mangler and the gnashing beast? I think I’ve seen a pet cat with a more threatening name!”

The announcer scoffed at Greed’s response and simply paid it no mind as his eyes followed their way over to the opposing gate where one rather large man would make his way out into the arena, followed by a much smaller guy. Just judging by the names they were giving the shear size differences between the two, one could only assume who was who between the two of them. But regardless of who they were or even how big they had been, there still was two of them and only one Greed. All in all, it left the fight a bit uneven and in this case the odds were stacked against Greed.

Heaving a heavy sigh, Greed would shift his gaze between the two for a few moments, before returning it back upon the announcer. The announcer did a quick head count and threw his hands up into the air, seemingly gesturing to one of the men off at the gates as if he wasn’t quite sure what to do about this. Seeing the gesture, a man broke out in a run from the gate and over to the announcer, before trotting to a sudden stop, “What’s the hold up?” The announcer placed a hand to his chin and then motioned towards Greed, “He’s odd manned…He’ll be facing the both of them alone it seems. We can’t have that, it won’t be a fair fight and the crowd certainly hell won’t like a fast fight. I mean just look at him, it’s not like he’s a big guy.”

Greed narrowed his eyes upon the announcer and growled softly, “Why don’t we make a bet if you’re so sure I can’t beat them. If I lose…I’ll give you a piggyback ride back to your house and if I win, then I want you to give my boots a good spit shine. Sound like a deal?” Almost in a mocking manner, he idly tapped the toe of his boot upon the dirt covered ground behind him, “How about it? I’ll make sure they’re nice and dirty for you, sound good to you?” The announcer eyed the man’s boots and cringed, “You’re a crude man, but sure why not. What do I got to lose, but just remember, it’s your funeral.” The guard looked between the two of them and shook his head, “You’re a crazy man Greed, but it seems this might work out. There’s got to be a reason why you’re so confident in yourself, so lets see it.” Nodding his head to Greed, the guard would quickly hurry back off to the gate in which he had originally stood guard at. At the guards departure, the announcer offered a few final words, “I hope you know what you’re doing, this won’t be easy as you think.” Turning from Greed and the rest of them, the announcer turned his full attention back upon the crowd in order to give them one final thread of suspense to rest upon, “Now ladies and gentlemen, we shall begin the festivities unless someone else has anything else to say, now is your final chance….”
