Title: A minor annoyance
Mitsuko - October 1, 2007 06:11 PM (GMT)
The Bloodseal Tavern was host to many a shady character, so cloak-encased visitor was not uncommon. For this, Mitsuko Saikira was glad. Quickly she made her way to an empty table and ordered a drink. Moments after the waitress left, two big men burst into the tavern, followed by a somewhat smaller man in clothing much too nice for this place. After surveying the other patrons, the grunts rushed to Mitsuko's table, grabbing her by the shoulder and preventing her from running away. The wealthy man took the chair across the table.
"Now, my dear, where is the money you stole from me?", the man said in a slow and steady voice.
"I'm not sure I know what you're talking about, sir. I've never seen you before in my life", said Mitsuko, taking care to keep her face averted and shadowed as best as she could.
"Are you saying it was not you? I do not believe I was mistaken. After all, you would be very difficult to forget..."
With those words, one of the grunts grabbed the hood of her cloak and pulled it from her head, exposing her face. Long, silky, raven-colored hair surrounded a beautiful, pale face with eyes as dark as the Abyss, and shining with an unnatural glow. The look of salvation and damnation all in one. In short, the kind of beauty that would haunt a man's dreams.
"After all, who could forget a half-fiend...or are you half-celestial?"

The door slammed open, the hinges screaming. Kalarn marching in. He could see all was well. Then his gaze went over the men and the woman. He would not tolerate anyone touching a beautiful woman like that. A woman like that would be married to someone in a high status.
Or, they could be kidnapping her. Either way, Kalarn thought as he readied a spell. Either way, I won't stand for it. "Flashburst!" A powerful white light flooded the bar, awakening a few snoring drunks. As the light continued, Kalarn shifted position, and a few people screamed in pain and agony. Then, the light was gone, and the short man had the tip of a sword to his throat.
The man swallowed, his adam's apple just barely stroking the tip. Where the blade had been, a bead of blood was in its place. The man tried to stammer out something, anything that would save his skin. He put his hand in his pocket, and drew out a long stilletto.
The man thought Kalarn had missed this movement, but Kalarn had seen the slightest adjustment of the hilt. Kalarn loosened his grip, and prepared another spell. He was already a bit tired. He had had to summon lightning once, but, he would do it once more if he must.
He brought his hand over the blade, and he struck, unleashing the magic as he slashed. The lightning ran down the blade and flowed into the short man. The man sppasmed, and went limp, a hand still on the cloak.
Kalarn turned to the two burly men who were still watching the body of the man for a sign of life, and growled. The men looked up, and ran, breaking the door off of the hinges. "You'll be paying for that door!!!"
Kalarn turned to the woman. She was truly beautiful. If in a ghastly sort of way. Her flawless skin and her shadow-black hair. The feeling of salvation, and of damnation. Kalarn grunted and said, "You okay? I didn't like tht man. Thought he might of kidnapped you. Am I right? Or, is there something else..."

On hearing the words "Flashburst", Mitsuko had shut her eyes against the light and opened them to see her tormentor, Mason, staring down a sword. That man had been following her for days, shadowing her every step. All because someone had told him she was "rare". Now..now she was free of him and his lackeys. Mitsuko looked at Mason's body, now sprawled on the floor. His eyes seemed to be staring up at her, pleading with her to bring him back. She realized the other man, the one who had saved her, was speaking to her.
"I'm alright..I wasn't kidnapped.. Mason had been looking for me for days. Apparently I can't hide as well as I thought I could", Mitsuko smiled sadly , "Thank you for helping me. I am Mitsuko.. may I have your name?"

"I'm alright..I wasn't kidnapped.. Mason had been looking for me for days. Apparently I can't hide as well as I thought I could. Thank you for helping me. I am Mitsuko.. may I have your name?"
Kalarn heard this over the agony of realizing that the lightning had sealed the wound shut. He could not believe, of all things, he was not to be mutilated as was normal for such a demon of a person. He rose the blade, and brought it down, on the face, cutting the nose clean in half.
A line of blood trickled out and he turned to Mitsuko, and replied, "Oh, so he wasn't going to kidnap you. Anyway, what he was going to do would have probably been as bad as that." He laughed. This man would be tossed into the river, to be consumed by the flesh eating salmon that inhabit it. Or, to be eaten by the rats in the alley.
Kalarn laughed louder. Yes, the rats would make a fine meal of him. They would eat him slowly, enjoying the rotten flesh that stunk day after day. The area of rotten flesh growing larger by each second.
"Name's Kalarn." He didn't know why he was giving her his name, although, as it was not his true name, it could not be used against him.
