Title: Through the mirror
Description: {open}

Eliel - September 26, 2007 07:36 PM (GMT)
Eliel sat amongst the rotten pews, brooding. The silence was complete, save for the steady drips of a leaky roof. It was pouring rain, the cathedral the only Sanctuary from the wet assault. It had been doing so for three days, as if to convict Eliel of his crimes.

His sword was shining red, covored with the blood of a newly fallen creature, a brown rabbit. Since he had taken shelter, the furry rodents were all there was to eat. Sadly, Eliel felt no remorse or guilt in slaughtering each of the harmless creatures, but his sword began to trouble him, stirring his thoughts. Eliel stood, sheathing his sword in the hard leather sheath at his belt, and moved his cloak over it. He was growing restless and needed to explore this place of whispers and shadows.

Nightwind - September 27, 2007 02:35 PM (GMT)
It was wet and cold. Why was it that way everytime she comes here? It was frustrating, to always have it raining, leaving no time to explore this old ruins. Except the last time she was here, she fought a demon, you could say, or just an insane weird person, who snatched one of her black scales. That really angered her. She would never let someone do such a thing, but he managed to do so.

Here she was, soaked, and cold to the bone in human form, running towards the cathedral. When she got there, she opened one door, and slipped in, her now teenage umbra also running in. Sava shoved the door closed and leaned against it, though, the roof looked just above her, still getting her wet. She cursed quite loudly, stepping away.

"Someones here..." the dark umbra Felix said in Savarkael's head. She looked about, and right there, was half drow. She narrowed her gaze. "Not Shain... She mumbled. Then, she smiled and walked up towards the man.

"Hello sir." She called to him, and stopped not to far away.

Eliel - September 27, 2007 11:12 PM (GMT)
Eliel froze, one hand resting beneath his cloak, grasping and ungrasping the sword's hilt. Turning swiftly, he observed the speaker. She seemed harmless enough. Odd, though, seemed the green streaks in her hair, as well as the black-speckled green eyes. But who was Eliel to judge strangeness? He wasn't your average elf, either. 'maybe some company would help along these strange corridors...' he thought to himself.

"Hello, ma'am. If i may introduce myself, i am Eraspeola Usreneac, or Eliel for short. I was just thinking to myself that some company would be welcome." He projected the words to her. He was growing quite skilled in this, Seeing as he is a mute. He turned his attention back to the lady. This one was no true human. those colors were not natural...

Nightwind - September 28, 2007 02:35 PM (GMT)
Sava cocked her head to the left slightly, looking the half-drow over. Mute? She thought to herself, then wondered what the other half of the drow was. How she knew what a half-drow looks like, was because she was best friends with one. last time she saw her friend, he was torn from his drow side and a full moon elf. She wondered if he was fine now.

"And I am Savarkael Nightwind, most call me Sava, though." She said politely, and bowed slightly. Felix walked towards Eliel, seeming curious, since the dark umbra is still quite young, he is more curious of things. "Then I hope I am of good company." She merely said.

She shivered slightly. Downside of her human form, was that she didn't stay as warm as she does in a dragon form. But she didn't care much, even though, she hates rain.

Eliel - September 29, 2007 03:20 AM (GMT)
Eliel recognized that name... where had he heard it? He looked over his shoulder at the darkest corner of the room. He was going to explore this cathedral further, then Sava came. perhaps she could accompany him? Looking back at her, Eliel asked. 'If you wouldn't mind, Would you like to accompany me exploring this ancient ruin? There could be something interesting to find. After all, what else is there to be doing?'

Nightwind - September 30, 2007 02:36 AM (GMT)
Sava knelt down, when Felix came wandering over to her, and she stroked her hand against its fur, that was wet, and matted. When Eliel asked if she would accompany him in exploring the ruins, she looked up and smiled, while then nodding. "Sure, could be fun. I never had much time to explore, even though, I have been here a few times." She spoke calmly, then stood, stretching a moment, and shaking water from her odd colored hair.

"You remind me a lot of a friend of mine, he's also part drow..." She said, looking the half-drow over. "If you don't mind telling me, what other half are you?" She asked, hoping it wasn't moon elf. Her hate for them was always strong. If she could, she would kill them all, but, it wasn't likely, she would never have enough power to do that, who does?

((OOC:Argh... my post is too short!.... lol))

Eliel - September 30, 2007 03:41 AM (GMT)
Eliel was pleased that Sava would explore with hi. then surprised by the following question. taking a minute to collect himself, He answered simply. " Father a drow, my mother was a sun elf." He said pleasantly. Now was his chance to find out why she seemed familiar. "I've answered your question, now i have one for you."

"You seem familiar, yet i'm sure i've never met you. Now it could have been a passing glance in a street somewhere, maybe a guard discription. I only ask what you are, as well. I know you are no normal human." He said, still happy about her agreeing to explore, but the feeling was dampened by his curiosity.

Nightwind - October 1, 2007 04:12 PM (GMT)
"Father a drow, my mother was a sun elf."

Ah... explains the similarity, Sava thought to herself, running a hand throug hehr wet hair, but pulled her hand out when she ran into a knot in her hair, and she grimaced a moment, then shrugged.

"I've answered your question, now i have one for you."

She raised an eyebrow a moment, then smiled. "Ask away then, Eliel." She said, calmly, wondering what the question was, then when he asked her the question, a smrik lifted on her face. She shrugged. "Maybe a guard description. I'm not very wanted around Imythess. You see, I am a dragon, I am not a human your most likely knoew by the strange color of hair and eyes. I am a black and green dragon, that normally has dragon-slayers on my tail, can get annoying. Your not one are you?" She asked, and the ending part more or less playful. But if he was, then she'd leave, but she doubted he was, he didn't seem like it.

Eliel - October 17, 2007 01:41 AM (GMT)
Eliel smiled at the last bit, not completely taken aback by her being a dragon. His black eyes flicked over her features once more. The slight differences from normal men and women were a little more obvious now. 'Your not one are you?' she asked him, somewhat playfully. Eliel's grin grew wider. "if i were, i would not be here speaking with you, but i am, so i must not be." he said equally playfully. Realizing that one hand was still on the hilt of his well-worn sword, he released it. Looking back to the dark corner, he decided to continue their venture.

Eliel turned and took several steps, turned his head back to Sava, and voiced his wihes.
"Let's be off, then." He chuckled and walked to the corner. it was pitch black, so Eliel ran his fingers along the wall. After several seconds, he felt a seam. Pulling his sword out, he plunged it into the seam and pried it open. with a groan and a spray of rust, a section of the wall swung open. He walked inside, not minding the pitch-black.

His eyes adjusted to the darkness, Drow infravision kicking into play. Heat pulsated in several spots, mostly from rats and other small creatures. He could now see as well-if not better- than in light. a quick scan of the room revealed a dusty old desk, a chair with a broken leg, a nightstand with an iron cup on it, and a shape in the wall.

He walked over to it and jumped sword ready, as the figure beyond the space drew his weapon also. Eliel cocked his head, as did the other. laughing heartily, he sheathed his sword, running a finger along the huge mirror. It was set into the wall, so he could not tell at first. Closer inspection revealed strange arcane symbols along the edges of the mirror.

Nightwind - October 18, 2007 03:12 PM (GMT)
She smiled. She could already tell that the elf would be good company. When he started walking off, Sava followed, herdark umbra following behind, and ran off to chase a rat. She glanced at Felix a moment, then turned her attention to the dark corner the elf headed to. She was amazed when he found a hidden doorway, she didn't even think there'd be one in this place, but, she wouldn't know much, she tried to avoid cathedrals, and temples as much as she could, mainly because she despised gods, no one knew why, she never tells anyone.

She slipped through the door after Eliel went through, and Sava tried to adjust to the darkness, and soon she did. Though she was in a human form, she was still a dragon, and her eyes always saw the same way, therefore, she could see in the darkness quite well. She walked over to the desk, that was covered in dust, and very old papers on it, that had nothing on them, sadly.

She walked around the room, seeing if there was anything interesting, then stopped, when the elf found a mirror. She walked over, and also looked at it. "A nice looking mirror... wonder what type of magic it is, if it has though symbols, then it has be something magical..." She said. She wondered if the mirror did have a magic ability, she guessed it did, but she didn't have a way of knowing.

Eliel - October 24, 2007 10:09 PM (GMT)
Eliel extended a claw and dragged it across the mirror's surface, making a reverberating sound not normal to a mirror. 'maybe it isn't set up against the wall.' he thought to himself. Through the skin-tight glove, he could feel the coldness, as opposed to the coldness of the room. He actually payed attention to the cool, dull colors of the mirror in his infravision, a sign of coldness. The surrounding objects all had the same base temperature. He began to walk away when he stepped on a bald, wormy tail. The rat squeaked and ran off, tripping Eliel. In his fall, he swept an arm back, letting fly a pewter mug. It flew towards the mirror. Eliel jumped to his feet and got in between the falling shards and Sava.

Eliel felt several small tears open up on his cloak, but nothing major had occurred. He turned and observed the small hole the mug had made, pushing the incident out of mind. Reaching a hand through, he expected to feel a wall block his hand, but no wall stood. He had half his arm inside before he withdrew it. Curiosity overwhelmed common sense. He extended all the glove's claws on his right hand and ran it down the mirror hard. He continued his destructive path until a suitable hole was sitting there, only the frame and several pieces of glass remaining. He looked at his hand, still yet amazed by it's indestructibility, and retracted the claws. Turning to Sava, he shrugged, a wild grin on his face.

Upon closer inspection of the symbols on the mirror, he gasped. Extending his thoughts to Sava, he proclaimed.
'I originally thought this was for keeping something, or someone, out. But I was mistaken. It's for keeping something in.' he put emphasis on the word in. his grin widening, he projected again. 'what say you? Sounds like an adventure to me.'

Nightwind - October 25, 2007 03:47 PM (GMT)
Sava watched him, as he tried to figure out what was with the mirror. Sava herself didn't like the mirror, she wasn't always one for magic, even if she had magic weapons and spells, she was never good with runes and all those other magical things. When Eliel tripped on a rat, she took a couple steps back, falling in attempted to help catch him, because of her own thoughts wondering, and then right away, at the near same moment, the pewter mug hit the mirror, making it shatter a little, and glass coming at her. She expected it to hit her, but Eliel had jumped forward, and blocked the glass from getting her.

"Thanks." She merely said, as he went back inspecting the mirror, and now the hole. She shifted from foot to foot, wondering why there didn't seem to be a wall. She thought it quite strange, though, almost, she felt something wasn't right. Then, he basically destroyed the mirror with his hand, leaving some glass, and the frame. She stared a moment, then looked at Eliel curiously when he spoke to her in her head.

"Your an odd one..." She whispered, when he grinned at her oddly. "Sounds fun... I can't help but feel the curiosity of whats in there." She said, leaning slightly closer, looking at the broken mirror. "Yep, sounds like an adventure." Probably gonna be the death of me, she thought to herself. Whenever she went on traveling, she always seemed to get hurt, but survive, and yeah, most likely she will. She just didn't like the feeling she had. If it was to keep something in, it must be dangerous, or something no one wants found. She believes it should stay that way, but, she decided she needed to have fun once in a while.

Eliel - October 28, 2007 05:20 AM (GMT)
Eliel kept his grin hidden as he looked down the pitch-black hallway beyond the mirror frame. His eyes took a little time to adjust, and he could see about as well as a human could in a dim light. 'good enough' he thought to himself. He took a tentative step into the hall, and was swept by a cold draft, carrying a cobweb in it. He shivered and brushed the web off his neck, and began down the hallway. It was made of dark stone slabs, cold and damp. With one finger, he ran the length of one brick and realized that they were bigger than he had thought. it was at least a square foot big. some rough design was embossed into the stone, but the light was too dim for him to see what it was. the cold of the underground here made his infravision all but useless.

He turned to make sure Sava was still following, and grinned her way encouragingly. Turning back, he rounded a corner and froze stock-still. A figure was sitting in the chamber, back to the wall. It took him a moment to realize that it was making no move towards him, so he pressed towards the shape.

He was halfway across the chamber when he spotted a rat sleeping soundly on the floor. The heat eminating from it's body illuminated the space around it like a torch. Eliel had a quite gruesome idea. Grabbing the hilt of his sword, he brought it arcing out, severing the spinal cord of the sleeping beast. He projected a thought to Sava, who eliel had lost sight of.
'I've found something. can't make it out, though.'

He bent and retrieved the rat, and continued towards the figure. Eliel lifted the rat, whose body eminated warmth like a torch, and observed the creature. If he could have screamed, he would have. The sword dropped out of his hand, and his glove twitched with his surprise, claws flying out to impale the dead rat.

The thing in front of him was terrible, like a horror show come true. It was a yellowing skeleton, humanoid, but with differences he couldn't place. One arm was stunted, like the arm of an infant dragon, and the other was distinctly orcish, with thick bone. The entire skeleton was twisted, back arched away from the wall. it appeared that the beast's hands and feet were actually cemented into the wall. It had a second, smaller skull like a dog, but without a jawbone.

The thing was gnawed on, big gashes in the bone much too large for a rat. But in the middle of it's human forehead was what terrified him the most. A big arcane symbol was carved into it. This was the beast that was supposed to be imprisoned here.

Nightwind - November 26, 2007 01:40 AM (GMT)
Sava followed Eliel, while her hand fumbled in a pouch at her side, that was her bag of Neverending Space. Soon, she found what she wanted, and pulled out a small orb. She mumbled a small word of magic, and soon, light erupted from it. She made it dim a little, so it was to bright, but good enough for her to see. Felix continued to follow behind her, but she noticed the umbra was getting a little fidgety. She reached down, and gave Felix a reassuring pat on the head, then continued to follow Eliel, and she ran her finger along the walls, looking at them, then ahead.

When they turned, she saw the figure, and grimaced. She stopped, before walking forward a little, not really bothering to see what the elf was doing.

'I've found something. can't make it out, though.'

She cocked her head a little, then, when her light fell over the skeleton thing, she gasped. The thing was weird. It was disgusting. She stood very still for a long moment, before leaning forward a little to get a better look at it.

"What is it?" She said, merely to herself. She looked at the arcane symbol, and frowned. To her, she would say it was a poor tortured creature, that had experiments done on it, well, thats what it seemed like to her. Suddenly, Felix growled, as he too stared at the dead monster thing. She glanced at Felix before turning her attention on the thing.

There have been many terribly gross things she has encountered, but this was the most vile, she even had to admit, it was worse then seeing her entire siblings ripped to shreds.

((OOC: Sorry its been forever since I replied... and sorry its not longer...))

Eliel - November 26, 2007 11:11 PM (GMT)
Eliel felt a ripple crawl down his spine. 'What is it?' Sava asked him, seeming to be equally disgusted. Eliel turned to the side, glancing down the long, dark corridor before turning to answer her. "According to this mark,-" Eliel turned to point at the spell carved into the beasts skull "-This is the creature the mirror is keeping in." he was unsure if she grasped the meaning.

He gave the skeleton another look-over and continued, pointing out the huge gnaw marks and the several broken pieces "See these breaks and chew marks? this is what really kills me. Now I want to know what killed this thing." He let the words sink in. "This means that something here is higher up on the food chain." Eliel grimaced. "My only hope is that these marks aren't as recent as i make them out to be."

With that, he glanced at the umbra and back down the tunnel. He could see little, as it was rather cold in the tunnels. He made a quick sense dead spell to set his statement. sure enough, the only other corpses nearby were those of rats and other small animals. He was dead certain now. But the weirdest thing was, Eliel still wanted to continue. His sense of curiosity was fed more than anything.

Nightwind - November 29, 2007 01:41 AM (GMT)
Sava, rolled her eyes at what he said first. "Obviously." She said, and she knew it was pretty obvious. This thing made it seem like it was a monster, therefore, it would be obvious that this would be to keep it in, who would want a monster like this thing wandering about? She knew that was quite cruel, since she was considered a monster herself, to mainly humans and other races. She grimaced, and looked about the room, hating to continue looking at the thing. She wandered over to the wall opposite them, and walked around the room.

She glanced at Eliel, when he spoke to her again in her head. And frowned. She also hoped the marks weren't recent. Higher on the food chain, aye? Well, I'll just have to make sure I'm higher then it, she thought, and smiled to herself a little. "What do you think made the marks?" She asked, still wandering about the room, stopping occasional to rub dust of the wall, to see if she could find anything interesting, but she nothing of interest.

Soon, she returned back to the creature, and crouched down, and reached forward, tracing the claw looking marks, and frowned. Though, she avoided the symbol. She never liked magic all the much.

She cocked her head slightly, still very curious about what made the marks.

Eliel - November 29, 2007 03:10 AM (GMT)
Eliel pursed his lips as he studied the gashes in the bones. " I wish I knew. But by the sheer number of marks, my guess is it was made by several creatures. The marks have something in them, as if whatever made them was decaying. Seems we have some corpses of the Chapel to deal with." Eliel glanced around the room. They were clearly in the crypt. Why there was an entrance in the office was yet another mystery to him revolving around the abandoned area.

Staring down the hall, he walked to the opening. "We should continue, if we want to find out what's at the end of the road. We've spent too much time hanging around already." Eliel sighed and began walking down the hallway. he shivered as a draft filled the halls.

Nightwind - November 30, 2007 12:29 AM (GMT)
"Oh, wonderful, corpses are always fun..." She mumbled, staring at the disfigured thing, and coughing slightly. She stood, and looked at the hall, mumbling something barely audible, but if you listened, you'd hear that it was just a curse. She wandered over to the hall, and peered in, and gave a small smile. She liked exploring new places, it was nice sometimes, unless she was having bad days and getting overly paranoid, or terribly angry, luckily, that wasn't one of these days, today was a day she felt like exploring.

Felix started off down the hallway, but soon stopped, waiting for the other two. Sava walked after the Umbra, glancing back looking to see if Eliel would follow, then looked forward. She still held the glowing orb in her hand, lighting the way before. Because of being a dragon, she could normally see well in the dark, just not when in human form.

"Well, to me, it seems obvious that whoever had this place built, didn't want anyone to find whatever is in here." She said, mainly talking to herself, and she shivered at the drafts, it didn't help that she was still wet and cold from the rain outside.

Eliel - December 8, 2007 09:58 AM (GMT)
Eliel nodded and noticed her shiver. "I'm assuming that it will get warmer as we get deeper in the ruin." He continued down the hall. He too felt the draft, an involuntary shiver ran up his spine. Once more, he wished for his cat, Gwen. She would have his back, no matter the true nature of his unusual travelling companion. Eliel flexed his claws, anticipating the upcoming battle.

Eliel cast a quick detect undead spell. A couple of faint orbs floated down in the hallway beneath them. He nearly slipped on the staircase nearly in front of him. Grasping the wall, he followed the stairs down. Turning the corner, His heart jumped. Two undead stumbled down the hall.

Usually too eager to join in a fight, Eliel was the first in. He dove from the shadows, swiping a chunk of arm from the thing. An airy gasp found it's way from it's lungs, unable to express true pain. Relishing in the torment, eliel slashed at it, ducking to avoid a makeshift club made from the gnarled root of some roots.

Nightwind - December 8, 2007 05:37 PM (GMT)
Sava let Eliel go first, and then followed more slowly. Felix still was in ahead, trotting about. She looked behind her, a moment, thinking she heard something, but it turned out to be nothing, just a rat running across the floor. Turning her attention to the stairway that was ahead, she stopped at the top step a moment, before following the elf down. She tightened her grip on her sword, sensing that something was about to come, and she hoped it would be a battle, she felt like she wanted to fight something.

When they reached the bottom, she smiled slightly as the undead came. She whipped her sword out and around in a swift movement, arching towards the second undead. It blocked her blade with a rusty, old longsword. She frowned a little, before a smile returned, and she brought her blade back, and attacked with a lung. Once again the undead blocked. She never really liked to fight undead creatures, since they rarely lost their strength, and never tired, but their blades did.

She jumped to the side as the undead took a slash at her. Sava lifted her spirit blade, and slammed it against the rusty long sword, and snapped the creatures weapon in half. Grinning, Sava lashed out with her blade again, at its rib cage. Her weapon struck, the sound of snapping bones was heard, since her blow was strong.

Eliel - December 14, 2007 12:25 AM (GMT)
Eliel reveled in the dance, even if his partner was not...capable of participating. The zombie stood in confusion as Eliel poked in and out of the shadows. Finally, the creature collapsed, a heap of broken bones and mangled flesh. Eliel's claws retracted, leaving the residual gore on his fingertips. Wiping it off on a patch of dead moss next to him, he looked to see how Sava fared.

He looked just in time to see her sword snap the zombie's ribs. Silently applauding the work, he cast a quick spell of detect undead as she finished her gruesome work. Quite a few eminations radiated from on their level, as well as below them.

"Shall we continue?" he asked, a hand gesturing towards the empty passage. Before she answered, Eliel was off, walking down the tunnel...and facing a dead end. Curious, he looked about. Catching a moss-overgrown door, he turned the handle and stepped into the door. It was bolted from the other side, and the wood was warped. "So much for that." He said quietly. Eliel turned to inspect the rest of the dead end.

He walked close to the walls, looking for a hidden doorway. "Bah," he said, throwing his hands into the air. "Well, perhaps our quest ends he-" he cut himself off after taking a step towards nightwind. The stones under his feet shifted. curiosity fed, he bent to inspect, and nearly fell. One after another, stones dropped to the floor below. A hole about three yards wide had opened up.

With an amused glance towards Sava, he glanced down. His drow eyes caught the reason the stones had failed. the support beams in the room below were rotted and gnawed away by rats. Eliel dropped down to the floor below, landing on the pile of rocks.
