Title: The hunt begins.
the forsakend one - September 20, 2007 01:23 PM (GMT)
Eynalis wanderd in the woodlands, searching for orcs. He looked in many caves, but he found none. He heard som talking in a language he could not understand. He hided in the bushes, and there they are - Two orcs. One of them had a large axe, and the other was armed with a brutal bow, and a few arrows.
Eynalis started to whisper somthing to himself. He felt the evil energies in him, getting stronger and stronger... His hands started to glow in dark green and black glow. Ghosts arrived. The orcs looked at them, and charged, and their blades just peirced though them like the ghosts are air!! The ghosts looked misrable, toruted. They touched the orc with and axe, and he was filled with fear. They enterd his body... The orcs felt on his knees, hopeless. He dropped his axe on the floor, and he was feared to death. The haunting tide spell worked perfactly, and now there is just one orc left. The other orc aimed his bow and fired, but because of his brutal bow, he mist. Eynalis charged at him with his staff lifted, and striked. The orc was a strong humanoid, so it didn't damaged him too hard. But orcs are poor creatures, and he wasn't armed well. He tooked an arrow out and used it as a dagger, while shouting with any strike.
Shut up orc, you can bring more of your smelly friends here.
Eynalis hitted again, but got stabed by the arrow.
Lysan - September 22, 2007 07:35 AM (GMT)
(just as an afterthought; try and improve your grammar - it will make your posts look and sound much better.)
Lysan watched with amusement from up a tree. He'd been watching the two orcs talking and arguing with each other for some time now, and he was starting to get a feel for the language. That was really the sole reason he'd come to Norwood again; he much preferred Taras City to some dingy forest, but sometimes one has to go places and this time it was to learn the language of the orcs. You didn't get many orcs in Taras, for obvious reasons - they would be death, desolation and destruction everywhere it went, until it was slaughtered. Half-Orcs were afraid to show their faces, so there were few of them that anybody knew about. Lysan liked them; they stayed away from most places he went to, and had never tried to kill him so far.
Listening intently, Lysan had managed to pick up most of the... debate going on. One orc wanted to go find something to eat, the other one didn't. The one wanting to go eat was equipped with a massive bow, but the other one was even scarier; a huge greataxe was slung across it's back. Lysan was rooting for a very logical reason: He'd definitely win in a fight, better to go for him than some coward with a bow. Lysan wasn't going to be stupid, even though it was a sort of family trait, and wouldn't go down and attack the orcs, like most idiot adventurers would. That would be certain death for a lot of people, and besides, orcs were just misunderstood. So, he watched with a frown of annoyance when the... thing try and slaughter them. He was thinking of shouting "hey, stop it, I was listening to that", but decided against. Instead, he slipped down the tree and leant against it. He took a cigarette out of his pocket, lit it, and relaxed against the tree. The undead, now he looked harder, was obviously winning. Lysan hoped it wasn't going to attack him; it'd mean he'd have to run, and he really couldn't be bothered to do that.

Eynalis hittied the orc again, and kicked him before he will got stabbed again. The battle was about to end, but he was afriad to hit the other orc - getting into melee with him is not the smartest idea. Maybe the spell will break? The orc stabbed Eynalis again, but the undead could not feel the pain - what made undead exellent fighters. Another strike from Eynalis hitted, and so the orc felt on the ground, almost dead. But it wasn't enough to defeat an orc, you must kill it. That, Eynalis did not know. The orc stabbed Eynalis on his foot, and Eynalis started to choke him with the staff. The orc was out of air without it - this battle exosted him. He stabbed wildly, and barly hit. Soon, he was out of air. After the orc died, Eynalis healed himself.
I will come and play with you later.
He told to the other orc. Why later? Well... In the battle, he saw Lysan. But smoking? There is a battle, do somthing!
In the only cases that you just stand and watch a battle is when none of the fighters is your ally - or if bouth of them are your enemy.
What are you looking at, weakling?!
He told, offending. He was allmost sure that the second option is the real one now.
Lysan - September 23, 2007 07:56 PM (GMT)
Play it cool Lysan. Make him think you're stronger than you are. Lysan tugged the cigarette out of his mouth and placed it behind his ear. The smell of tobacco wafted past his nose - the sickly, sweet, nausiating smell. He had long known the health risks of smoking, but he couldn't find anything else to waste his money on. "Weakling eh? You, who can't finish off the orc you're standing next to, and you call me a weakling?" That sounded alright, he thought. Of course, it wouldn't do much good, and he'd probably end up running away, back to Taras City soon enough. That was the good thing about the forest; it was near to home, the new and revamped City Watch, and safety. The already diverse city was becoming more and more a place where refugees of all races came to get away from the horrors of war that were tearing their countries. It was quite disgusting really.
He put his mind back to the matter at hand; and spoke. "If you, my good friend, think I'm a weakling, I challenge you to a duel. Of weaponary - no magic allowed." He added the last bit as he remembered the spell that had been used against the now trying to get up orc. It made things fairer, in the way that a football team with a bias ref sees things as fair. Naturally, he didn't mean to actually start a fight. That would be silly. He hoped the person standing opposite wouldn't realise that.
the forsakend one - September 23, 2007 08:14 PM (GMT)
HAHAHA!!! A duel with no magics?! I'm a mage you know! I guess you are a real coward if that's your offer. Oh, I almost forgot about you, little orc. Look at you, filled with hopelessness and fear. Don't worry, it would be over soon.
Eynalis took he's dagger out and stabbed the orc right on the neck. The orc felt really quickly. But he was just dying. In a bit less then a minute, he will die.
So where was we? Oh, yeah, your silly duel. Why you don't let me use my magics? Scared? That's just shows how weak you are.
Eynalis made a pentagram on the dying orc's face, just to see him suffers some more. Eynalis knows that he had no chance against that human in melee, but with a little help from tortured ghosts...The tide of the battle can change a bit. Mages are good a duels - they just blasts their most powerful spells from afar. No worries about tiring, nothing. Untill the enemy reaches them, he is dead or almost dead. Just blast and kill. Eynalis was even better - with a spell that makes you unable to fight? We will see anyone else wins, unless he won before Eynalis casted the spell.
So, weakling, a full combat duel with no rules? Tell me when you want to surrender. So, shall we bet on it? Or maybe you are afraid?
Eynalis started to get away. He knew that if a duel begins, he will need distance. Then ne could cast his spell with no problems.
Reoc - September 29, 2007 03:56 PM (GMT)
Reoc took aim at the doe, an arrow strung, bowstring pulled taut. The deer looked up just as he released the arrow, missing. The iron arrowhead stuck into an old log with a wet *thump*. The deer took off the opposite way, leaping neatly over the log. Cursing, Reoc strung another arrow and released it. He watched the arrow's flight, grinning as it hit his mark, the left flank of the doe. It began to limp away, crippled. Reoc took flight after it.
It lay on a bed of moss, unable to walk. with mercy, Reoc siezed it's head and snapped it's neck, putting out of it's misery. Retrieving his arrow, he wiped it off on a nearby oak leaf and placed it into his quiver. He began to skin the deer when he heard some commotion nearby. hiden by the bushes, Reoc was out of sight, but he could see the undead. It laughed and carved marks into a dying orc's face, taunting a second party. Looking through a second bush, he saw a human, a young one.
'So, weakling, a full combat duel with no rules? Tell me when you want to surrender. So, shall we bet on it? Or maybe you are afraid?' Reoc heard the elf's taunt as clear as day, the ranger's attuned hearing picking it up. The Sorceror began to flee to a farther spot, back turned.
the forsakend one - October 8, 2007 01:30 PM (GMT)
Eynalis heard the sound of a bow, and an arrow flying. He was sure that it was an ambush, orcs maybe. But when he heard a deer's voice, a dying one, for sure.
Oh, its just a hunter playing around. Nothing to be afraid of. He told to himself. But Lysan didn't talk, and it was quit, too quit. He was sure that Lysan was going to strike him down now, but how could he sneak so quitly? He looked behind him, but Lysan was just standing there. But he did notice something - there was a movment in the bushes.
Whoever are you over there, show yourself, or fill the wrath of the forsakend necromancer!!! Eynalis shouted. He was allmost sure that there is a hunter over there. And if there is a hunter over there, Eynalis want to strike him first. I could be finished nasty of an arrow will hit him. And maybe this is one of Lysan friends trying to protect him? He had to do somthing about it.
I said, show yourself!!
If he will hear a bowstring, he will react. poor guy in the bushes he will be if he won't show himself now...Or poor Eynalis if the guy has another plan.
Reoc - October 16, 2007 07:27 AM (GMT)
Reoc silently thanked the elves for being such masters in enchanted items as he scurried through the brush. His boots muted all sounds, while his cloak hid him from view. it was no drow-made cloak, but it worked well enough for his present needs. He nocked an arrow, now on the sorceror's left side. He pulled the bowstring and stood, ready to fire if the creature made any sudden movements. Looking a short ways away, he saw a suffering orc, crude designs carved on it's face. A wave of rage fell over him and he let fly the arrow, it planted itself quite steadily in the orc's brow. Several seconds later, another arrow was nocked and trained on the undead.
"You should respect the grounds of a duel, lich. What is your buisness in this forest, anyhow?" he spoke roughly, a harsh dislike for the undead clearly apparent. The finger holding back the arrow twitched several times, reoc not trying to hide his intentions in the slightest. "I will have no quarrel with killing you, so try no sudden moves." He said, now waiting for a response.
the forsakend one - October 16, 2007 01:01 PM (GMT)
No sudden moves? If you want to. What am I doing here? I though it is obvisious. I am helping you to cleanse this forests from your vilest enemy. You should be thanking me. And now, put your bow down, and you will not get hurt.
Eynalis was fine. He was not afraid of the ranger. If Eynalis will notice any danger, the ranger will be in a danger. He can do it without the ranger even knowing! He had to keep it cool, if not the ranger will attack. Eynalis want the first strike, wich is fatal in his case. Eynalis showed no threats to the ranger, but if the ranger will show any threats, then he will end up like Eynalis.
So why won't you put your bow down and we will talk like two adults?
Eynalis knew that if he will talk like he is afraid, the ranger will feel out of danger - and this is what Eynalis wanted. To avoid this battle. Who knows how many others are still hidden
Reoc - October 17, 2007 03:13 AM (GMT)
Reoc's hand moved slightly. He smiled mentally at the lich. It was trying to lull him into a false sense of security, then strike him down. It was a sorceror, so most of it's attacks would be mind-based. he steeled himself, building up a mental defense, he lowered his bow. He made it no small secret of getting a spell ready. Reoc stepped from the bushes and into the open. The repulsive sorceror had wanted to talk, and reoc had come out.
"you wanted to talk?" he said, in an innocent tone. the spell contained in his palm pulsed, wanting to be released. "What is there to talk about? You claim to help me to cleanse this forest of vermin, claim that i should thank you. Do you not realize how much you repulse me more than a simple orc?" He made a sudden move towards his quiver.
the forsakend one - October 17, 2007 01:10 PM (GMT)
I didn't wanted to talk - you are the one that fired me a question.
But Eynalis knew it was still unsafe - he knew elves. Allways having a trick to do. Infact, most of them can take their swords out, slash you and all that without you even having a chance to resist. They are too fast. Before you know it, you are dead. But it wasn't like that with rangers. They have to aim for a short while, because if not, the chances to hit are big just as one year is near to the age of and old elf. Allmost zero. And that time needed to aim, is the time Eynalis needed. But who knows, maybe they are other elves in the bushes waiting for a sign? But his bow was just lowerd, so he saved the time of getting it and an arrow out. If he would decide to shoot, Eynalis will get hitted. And usually, if one shot hits you, another one is making its way to you.
Now drop your bow, or atleast but in on your back. I don't like the feeling it's in your hand. So what I am doing here? As far as I remeber, this is my homeland just as it is yours. And why do you care? I help you against your peril - the orcs. Any other thing you wanted to know?
Reoc - October 18, 2007 03:29 AM (GMT)
Reoc did not lower his bow. This was the outdoors. nothing was impossible. He enjoyed every minute of the sorceror's obvious discomfort. The Spell was still at the ready, now a small ache in his hand. reoc let the bow fall to the ground, but did not relax. a faint-almost unnoticeable string connected his finger to the bow, tied when he made the spell movements. "You still yet claim that i hate these orcs with a passion. Do you not yet realize that these orcs pose no serious threat to me? Maybe at hand-to-hand one could kill me, i do not deny that fact. Yet these orcs do not bother me. What bothers me more is a sorcerous undead going about to inflict suffering upon a foe helpless to mind attacks." Reoc spoke sternly, but not without the complete disgust he had spoken with earlier.
No, that was now buried. Reoc's finger twitched. he went against almost every instinct he had as a ranger to eliminate threats to the city. And this sorceror posed a threat. even though it may not be immediate. These sorcerors always had some spell at the ready, most usually to inflict the prey's mind to move in for a quick kill. Reoc silently cursed to himself silently. "i'll make you a deal. You walk away from here, and i will have never seen you, or met you." He said in the still-stern tone.
the forsakend one - October 20, 2007 11:53 AM (GMT)
And what's in it for me? If you think that I am afraid of you, or weaker then you, then you never fought a mage before. But it could be fixed. If this battle is somthing that you are afraid of, and you should, then I have a better deal. My buisnesses here are this orcs. Why? none of your intersests. Give me a few of them, ten should do it, and I shall leave.
But what's this ranger obssecion about Eynalis? This woods belongs to anyone. Eynalis was no threat to anyone but this orcs. And this orcs - when they was powerful enough - were a direct threat to elvenkind. And they will declare war again when they will achive their powers. As he knew orcs, its a metter of time. There are so many demons in this place called Imythess, so its a metter of time untill one of the orcs will become a powerful warlock. So why did Reoc minded that much about Eynalis? He was afraid, this is something that Eynalis understood.
Wait- were this orcs patrols? If they were, they are in trouble. When their clan will understand they're missing, a larger party will be sent. Eynalis had to get out of here as fast as he could. So do we have a deal?
