Title: Interrupted Training

Whitewind - September 12, 2007 07:37 AM (GMT)
Whitewind had come to his place, this lake at the base of a wonderous waterfall, to train like the warriors his grandfather had told him about. These great men would stand underneath the falls and meditate, or practice their skills with the blade, while withstanding the great force of the water as it pummeled them without hesitation. It took some time, but Whitewind was finally able to move freely within the falls. The lake was rather deep in most places he had seen, and so very clear, but he managed to find a small outcropping of rocks that allowed for him to stand waist deep in the water. Here he came, for hours upon hours, to meditate and be one with himself. Afterall, his grandfather couldn't have been lying to him in these stories, could he? The sound of the water was overwhelming, but the wind carried all its secrets to Feryl. He had learned to drown out the normal voices and sounds of those who came to the lake seeking scenery, but today was different. There was someone there who sounded...different. "I really shouldn't break training," he thought, "but whoever this is could prove quite interesting. Perhaps an adventure is on the horizon, or simply some good company. I suppose I'll have to open my eyes and find out for sure..."

Lehona - September 12, 2007 08:08 AM (GMT)
Leaning against one of the tall trees that surrounded the lake, Lehona had watched as the man in the lake practicing his craft. The roar of the waterfall was somewhat distant from where she stood, the sounds of nature at her back. It was peaceful here and she could understand why he would come here alone. Thoughts of disrupting him, as he looked to be floating waist deep in the water, only made her frown. Sighing in quiet contemplation, she tipped her head to the side as she studied him a few long moments and then slowly took off in a slow strides behind the trees, walking the perimeter of the lake. The sun filtered in through the leaves, breaking up patches of dark shadow here and there across her chosen path. Lehona occasionally glanced back to the lake, spying to the place where she had seen him last and finding herself half curious to whether or not he would hear her from so far away. Slowing to a stop, she trailed an open hand across the rough bark of a thick trunk that she had come to stand beside, still hidden in shadow but giving her a closer view of the man in the water.

Opening his eyes, Whitewind was instantly blinded by the rushing water crashing down upon him. "Well, that was smart wasn't it," he laughed to himself. Grasping his eyelids shut, he moved out of the water's current so he was able to actually see something besides an incoming waterfall. Stepping out, Whitewind's natural aura of wind lightly swirling around him picked up, uninhibited by the flow of water. He was proud of his Genasi traits, but sometimes they drew unwanted attention at the wrong times. Searching for the source of this new sound, the sound of someone trying to stay quiet, Whitewind surveyed the area surrounding the lake. He finally picked it out, or so he thought, standing among some trees. The water was still mildly clouding Feryl's vision, but he could make out the shape of a woman. At least he hoped it was a woman anyway, because a man staring at him would probably mean trouble. Whitewind gathered his things, smiled, and slowly began walking towards this distraction, wondering what type of conversation he might soon enjoy.

"The land of the brave...the sanctuary of the wise." A small voice said, barely coming out over the roar of the waterfall. The trees rustled as a dark shape jumped from tree to tree. He could not see the "man" and leapt, like a drill into the water, making a huge explosion of water.

The water burst with light and slowly died down. It was a long time until a lizard face apeared and held up a encarved bracelet, which crumbled when put in air. A long string of cursing came up and a half-dragon came up.

Kalarn had found a enruned bracelet that could of held a powerful spell at the bottom of the lake. But, when he found it, it was guarded by a giant fish, which was tough as hell to subdue long enough to grab the bracelet. And of course, when he lifted it out of the water, it crumbled. Just my luck he thought.

It had taken him hours to find the way here. He had to bribe a wanderer to give hima map here. On the way he was attacked by thieves. The path he took lead to a dead end so he had to backtrack to get to the waterfall.

So some people here, would not stop him. Athough he saw a wind genasi, he could feel another presence. He could not track it down, but he knew it was powerful. Of course, there were powerful monsters in the lake too.

When he got out of the water, he was bleeding through half a dozen wounds and he collapsed, saying, "It is too much..."

Lehona - September 15, 2007 08:02 AM (GMT)
Lehona was still leaning against the tree with one arm wrapped loosely around the back, her fingers now playing lightly at it's bark. It was cool in the shadow of the trees that lined the lake and she enjoyed a light breeze as it danced through her hair. The man who had been practicing in the middle of the lake had left the water and now appeared to be walking in her direction. For a brief moment, panic struck her. But the feeling was soon suppressed as she had learned not to expect the worst in people nearly two weeks ago. No, he appeared to be smiling, which relaxed her even further. It was a handsome smile she thought to herself and he looked kind. Though she felt guilty that she had interrupted him, she did not stop herself from emerging from the shadows and into the sunlit and casually walked toward him.

Walking towards the trees, Whitewind's vision slowly unblurred as the excess water works its way down his face. He could now see the woman, who appeared to be at least somewhat Elven, walking towards him. His smile broadened, as the various Elven races were some of his favorite peoples. Very differing, and yet something kept them all closely related in Feryl's mind. He also enjoyed the ties to tradition many of them kept, something he himself tried to do. "And she certainly is a cute one," he mumbled to himself as he walked. As he continued to walk closer and closer, Whitewind could start making out the features of the woman walking to him. "Striking green eyes, fair skin...this could turn out to be quite an interesting day."

As Whitewind finally breached the gap between them, he extended his hand outwards with a smile. "Greetings ma'am, I am Feryl Whitewind, Air Genasi," he said openly, "Pleased to meet you." He eagerly awaited the conversation that would hopefully soon follow.

Lehona - September 15, 2007 08:45 AM (GMT)
There was no stopping the smile or soft laughter that followed as a small and delicate hand reached to meet his. He was certainly not shy she thought to herself as she took a second to brush the long strands of ginger hair out of her eyes and restrained them behind the rounded point of an ear.

"Ma'am would have been my mother, honestly I must not look that old." She teased him, her voice light and sweet as she squeezed his hand gently in greeting. If she had to guess, she would have said that he was a fighter. His strong hands and muscular build were not like any of the magic users she had come upon in her travels up until this point.

"Lehona Palewind." Bowing slightly as she often did in introduction before continuing. "Avariel by appearance, human at heart." She paused, looking quite embarrassed and uneasy. "And hoping that she did not interrupt you on such a cloudless day." A conscious smile forced it's way upon her and she cringed inside waiting for his response.

Whitewind - September 15, 2007 09:12 AM (GMT)
"Interrupted yes, but a pleasant interruption," Whitewind calmly replied. This striking woman in front of him seemed timid, but she was at least making the effort to converse, and that was enough for him. "Besides, if I stand in there for too long my skin gets all shriveled up," he said with a hint of laughter. Lehona seemed like someone who could handle herself in battle, but at the same time had the calmness and grace of someone who simply avoided it all together.

"So, Avariel and human eh? That sounds like an interesting story if I do say so myself. Being a Genasi seems slightly less interesting now." Looking down Feryl realised he was still holding Lehona's hand. He knew it was proper to let go at some point, but something kept him there holding on. Smiling awkwardly, he removed his hand from her grasp and pretended to inspect it. "Gah, see. Shriveled up anyway," he muttered. "So Lehona Palewind, human at heart, what brings you to Richimon Lake? I myself enjoy the waterfall, as you can see." He scratched the back of his head and smiled as he waited for her to speak again.

Kalarn lashed out with his foot and growled as if in a dream. He lifted his hands and they fell, one on the ground. The one one the ground clawed out a crude symbol. The symbol glowed slightly and died.

He clawed with his hands, obliterating the rune. The entire sorrounding sighed. He became still and feebly got up. He stood, hunched, with his arms hanging limp at his sides. He moved his arms over the air, creating another crude rune. He swung his hand at it and another sigh, louder, eminated from an unseen entity.

He stood over the lake and sat down heavilly on his rear. He drew another rune on the water. He swung his arm on it again and the waterfall became more calm, the waterfall with no longer a powerful force. He turned to the two people, smiling smugly. He turned back to the water and moved his hand over the water.

Lehona - October 3, 2007 07:00 PM (GMT)
With a small shrug of her shoulders, Lehona nodded toward the waterfall. Stepping out of the tree line and toward the lake before breathing words, she merely shook her head as if the right words would not come. The lake was quite beautiful and even though it was loud due to the waterfall, it was still calming to her. Almost as if it drowned out the the rest of the world.

"The same reason," she said finally with a small, appreciative smile. "There are treasures, very much like this one, scattered all throughout these lands. It seemed a wonderful idea to me to see a few of them in person." She was staring at the waterfall with a faraway look in her eyes, almost as if her imagination was hard at work. Stopping a few feet away from the water's edge, Lehona sighed as the smile grew larger.

"Can you think of a reason why one should not visit a place like this?" She teased him again, turning her face toward him and the sun. The soft breeze continued to toy with the free ends of her long hair. Lehona thought the breeze to be a soothing mix with the warmth from the sun.
