Title: Lost Cause

Taika - September 7, 2007 12:19 AM (GMT)
She had no direction, no thought, and no purpose… but she had anger, so she was angry. It had been a normal anger when she had first tried to enter the swamp and the vines got in her way, the braches snagging on her hair and catching her horn. She then drew her blade and slashed at the offending plants and pressed forward.

She wasn’t sure when she had gone berserk, she didn’t remember it. She had to of lost herself in her anger though as she was now standing waist deep in thick mud and blood, a large serpent of some sort laying before her, half in a tree that had many gashes in it. She was breathing heavy, feeling a bit light headed. She felt heavy, the blade held tightly in one fist was covered in some strange mix of blood and mud.

Taking a deep breath she pulled herself forward to the tattered looking tree, the thick mud caught in her fur weighing her down. She managed to get just about knee deep before her legs gave. Now she was waist deep again… She gave a half hearted laugh that sounded raspy and caused her to cough. She felt a sharp pain on her side and felt it. The skin wasn’t broken, but… her ribs had been crushed. The snake must have tried to crush her. She hung her head and closed her eyes. Her horn then started to glow with a soft blue light and the healing spell flooded though her and the pain began to ease, though it didn’t help with how heavy she felt. So she stayed there, resting where she sat for the moment.

It didn’t matter where she went, or why. She didn’t even know where she was, though she was sure she could find her way back out by following the path of her destruction.

Mitsuko glanced behind her for the first time since she'd entered the swamp. Mason's men, unaware that he was no longer around to covet her, had chased her into this place, but they hadn't followed her. Still, she pressed on. The foliage was thick, and every turn she took looked exactly the same. Mitsuko stopped and caught her breath, panting from the heat and humidity. She removed what was left of her cloak, the hair under it was matted against her face. She could now see her hands and arms were covered in scratches, and her feet hurt. Looking around, she came to the sad realization.. "I'm lost."
To her right, it looked as if the vegetation stopped. Could that possibly be a path, or a way out? Mitsuko walked towards it, hope beginning to bloom. Civilization couldn't be far away! And just as she formed the thought, her foot got caught in a sinkhole.

Taika - October 9, 2007 04:46 PM (GMT)
A sound echoed through the trees to her and her ears twitched slightly as she noticed the sound. It was near… near enough to see? She opened her eyes and lifted her head. Someone, or something… had she been followed? Had they been tracking her? But who would have done that? It couldn’t be the elves. She had left them a while back.

With straining muscles, she forced herself to rise once more to her feet. The mud and blood was caked over her fur, soaked into it so she felt as if she weighed at least twice her normal weight. She looked up at the tree first and realized that a branch may help her move, or at least keep her standing. Which one… Finding one that she thought would suit her Taika took a few labored steps over. Reaching up with one hand she grasped the branch and with the other swung her muddy, and bloodied, blade at where the huge snake’s body had apparently split it.

The branch made a loud crack, then split along her strike and tried to shoot up into the air as the other end went right into the mud. Taika was yanked half a step to the side, though the mud helped keep her in place. She forced her way over to about six feet or so from the end she had cut and once more gripped the branch. She swung her blade once more, though it did nothing more then thunk against the wood, leaving only a mark. She swung again and got a divot out of it. Annoyed she gripped the branch higher and with one of her cloven hooves kicked the branch where she had cut it. It cracked, but the mud caused her blow to slide across. She swung the blade at the now muddy spot and it made a much louder crack and snapped some. She stepped back and pulled on it, the branched in the mud making a sucking sound as she pulled. Then, quite suddenly, the branch snapped.
