Eynalis walked with the new elf he just got to serve him. He led him to somewhere near a large bush.
Start digging. make a small hole and from there a large burrow.The poor elf started to dig with his hands. It took him a few good hours, but then the burrow was ready.
Do you like that hole?Eynalis asked.
Yes... I... Like it alot.The scared elf said. He didn't wanted to know why the undead needed such a burrow.
Good! Its going to be your gravestone.The elf was scared to death - The undead promised him that he would let him live!
The elf started to run, but he was too tired to run. Eynalis hitted him with the staff, and the elf felt. He pushed the elve's head into the swamp's waters, and kept it there. The elf tried to resist, with no used. after a minute, he was dead.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~A WEEK LATER~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was a dark night in the marsh. The moon was full.
Eynalis carried an elven bodie. It was a long, long trek from the woods, and with such a heavy cargo on him, it was hard. He pushed the new bodie in a hole hidden by a bush, that an elf digged a week earlier, among the other elven bodies. How many corpses are in there, Eynalis wonderd. He knew that there are atleast 15 bodies.
ARE YOU HAPPY NOW?!Eynalis shouted.
The shout could be heard for a long distance, and he hoped no unwelcomed guest would come. No metter, so Vernon will eat a few more corpses.
Vernon - September 5, 2007 10:40 PM (GMT)
Vernon was pleased with the way things were going. It would seem that he had chosen the ant over the grasshopper and had passed a nice elven delacy to gain many more instead. He had know of the elf's coming and going through the marsh since he had the hole made, after all he knew of most of the few happening of the marsh, though he claimed to know all. He had watched the making of the hole personaly and while curious of how the zombie got the elf to be so compliant. The elf however had seemed quite young as far as elves go. Vernon had watched as Eynalis brought more bodies over ther course pf the week and much of Eynalis' cargo was of similar suit, though Vernon was not surprised in that regard. Why not go for the easier young and inexperienced? Vernon was however surprised by the sheer number of bodies the zombie had brought him. He certainly would have enough elven flesh for himself and his pets for a while and with Eynalis still working under him things would be quite good for the master of the marsh.
Vernon's faithful bat returned to him early to herald Eynalis' return. Vernon was able pick himslef out a comfortable spot to lay down in the tree above the hole. For this meeting Vernon went with his true ratlike form. There was certainlty no point in hiding his identity within his own marsh.
"For now... yes, I hope you shall keep up the good work and allow things to stay that way Eynalis," Vernon smiled from his perch. "Yet, now that you have proven yourself I longer need so many bodies and since you have done your job so well I must task you the catch a much harder prey than elves," Vernon mused as he surveyed the bodies below.
"But first do you mind a simple duel? The elves beneath me afterall don't necessarily say much of your fighting skills," Vernon offered before taking a bite out of a rotted apple in his hand. Vernon was not in the mood for such an act, but the zombie did deserve for his dedicated work and of course his next task would require a little for fighting prowess and simple trickery would not pass easily as a substitute.
What?! More kill for your service? You said elves, and elves it shall be!
Eynalis was angry. He was mad. Another task on this rat thing is exactly what he didn't wanted to do.
But he knew he could not resist.
A little duel you say? And if I win you will let me go? Because I'm sick of this killing spree of yours.
Eynalis though that now he had a chance. Well, Even if not, Its worth the shot.
Now he had the chance to hit that rat, without risking his "life".
How long he waited for this moment!
"Sick? Undead don't get sick and I've seen no hint of you disliking killing unless you include the fact that dead don't feel the pain you enjoy inflicting. You have done well so far, do not ruin it by complaining so. I could have very well gave you a more demeaning task, yet I saw a bit of promise in you. Besides you've do the job so well in a week that I've decided you might be ready for an upgrade," Vernon snickered after taking another bite. His last sentence was quite the lie, he hadn't seen promise in the zombie at all, he just had his mind set on having some elven flesh as the lovely aroma had commanded.
"And no I won't let you go so easily, though I see no hope for you to defeat the Master of the Hauntwood Marsh on his own turf. You should save such wishful thinking for something else," Vernon growled, those irritance was mostly feigned. Asking so foolish a question certainly wasn't the worst he had gotten from before and it was easy to let such a frivolous thing pass.
"Now before we begin, tell me Eynalis, what it is you fight with. Is it just that stick, do you make use of magic spells, or do you hide more useful weapons in your robe?" Vernon asked before taking a last bite out of the apple and placing it in his backpack. He douted the later but it was quite possible that the elf used a spell or to to aid him in battle. He must have, for he would such killings strange with him with not but a staff even if he did employ sneaky and deceitful acts to catch his prey off gaurd.
Eynalis just wanted to go away, away from that rat. He heard "I won't let you go so easily", and that filled him with hope - he might go away. Or maybe the rat lied? Worths a shot.
You think that if I had some normal weapons in that hood I would let you enslave me, or even stay alive so easly?
Maybe that rat would give him a real weapon. He still wanted a staff. It helped him walk, and beside, a mage without a staff? Not that he cared about his look, but there are some staves that helps in magic casting. Eynalis wanderd why such a powerfull rat would send him to such a dagerous task. He wanted him to be destroyed? Then why didn't he slayed him so far? Then, Eynalis came up with an idea of how to make a use of all of this.
Well, if you are sending me to kill somthing so powerful, then I will need some help. A new staff or robes would do. A nice, evil, necrotic spell would do too.
Eynalis didn't really thought that he would get anything from that rat, but he did not mind to try.
Vernon - September 9, 2007 09:13 PM (GMT)
"Following such foolish advice would have cost you have literally cost you an arm and a leg if not your existance," Vernon snickered as he shook his head. It would take more than normal weapons and average skills to take Vernon down. He was of course Master of the Marsh as well as one of the four horse riders of Apocylpse.
It also amused Vernon that the zombie thought Vernon was giving handouts. The only thing he gave freely was pestilence, sickness, and disease. Eynalis' work made him worthy of help refining skills and nothing more. "Now cease your foolishness. If you desired a new weapon you would have stolen one from one of these fifteen elves. It's not my fault if you chose to strike only those too young to hold a weapon. I only asked to find out where your skills lie. What's more your next foe is not an overly powerful one, unless it was Orcs who placed you in your grave. They are simply creatures born battle ready and not likely to fall from a few blows from a stick like yours," Vernon snickered as he continued to mock Eynalis.
Vernon slipped from the tree, drawing his blade before landing upon the soft ground below. "But, I see I've wasted enough words on you. Let us see how good your skills are," Vernon said before inviting the the elf to come on with his free hand.
the forsakend one - September 10, 2007 11:20 AM (GMT)
Come on then. Let the forsakend one be forsakend by the most vile creature of this vile place. Give me my new target, and let eternal darkness cover it forever.
Eynalis was ready now. Something told him that he can defeat that rat thing, or atleast run away if a battle will start. He didn't wanted to know if he can - that means he will have to fight him. He rather kill this stupid targets of the rat, gain power and then kill him, or atleast be free.
Then what is your task now? Bring it on, I am not scared.
Eynalis knew that if he would keep pushing buttons he might loose a leg, or atleast to make Vernon to try. He hoped to stay out of a duel, who knows what Vernon will do to him. He also knew then when Eynalis will kill the last target Vernon wanted, Vernon will possibly kill him. Well, then he will know if he can defeat him.
He was allmost sure that he will get stronger by then, but he was even more sure that Vernon will too. But he had to try. He hoped that his target will be that wretched human he found a few days earlier in Taras. What was his name? How come he always meet poeple but never remember their name??
Vernon - September 10, 2007 11:17 PM (GMT)
"Your new task is to get me a few Orcs. Who they are, where they are from, and how you get them are matters I don't care about. I just want them by next week. I don't care what you do with the rest of your time," Vernon returned with slight irritance. He was quite sure he had said that, though prehaps not simply enough for the elf's decayed brain to understand. He had also thought the elf was eager for a duel and was about to give him the largest honor he deserved, but once again the zombie tried to shy away from a fight.
"Now, were you hoping to have a duel or did I leave my cozy resting place for no good reason. It was indeed quite cozy," Vernon grumbled as he twirled his blade slowly between his fingers in a less defensive stance. Two rats creeped from his bag and climbed up upon his shoulders taking a break from their own snacktime to take a look at one of Vernon's few invited guests. Their precense pleased their master and lessened his irritance. He would let these two follow Eynalis when he left. Mitz would have much better use with him rather than the elf since he didn't need to follow Eynals so closely anymore.
the forsakend one - September 12, 2007 09:21 PM (GMT)
You will get our silly orcs by the next week, rat.
What Eynalis couldn't and didn't wanted to understand why does vernon thinks that orcs are harder to kill then elves are, and why does he want to eat orcs so much? They don't look tasty. But he had no choice. He turned his back and started walking, trying to avoid a duel at any way he could.
