Title: Paladin Spells episode II. The return of the topic

Rothardan - September 4, 2007 07:16 PM (GMT)
So basically, I had a topic about Paladin spells when LothGirl5000 was head-administering for Laura.

Because of the lack of offensive light-spells that were within Imythess, the Paladin class is difficult to role play out, since you can't arm yourself properly against the evil forces. There are some good ones such as Judgment, but most of the spells go for the 'disabling' method such as 'Humble' or 'Moment of Silence'.

So if you want to go on the offensive, you have to buy general spells from the general magic shop... or play a different class.

I believe that by introducing 'offensive light spells', this makes it easier for people to play Paladins or other holy classes (or races, such as Angels).

Light ball
A ball of light about the size of your fist is created, that can be thrown at the target.

Hand of Faith
The caster's hand begins to glow with holy light. This holy light can be shot at a target, demolishing undead and skeletons...

Smite Undead
Causes severe damage to any undead/chaotic being that is targeted, usually destroying it. (This will cause severe damage to any undead/chaotic member).

Epic Spells
Radiant Light
A spell that takes an amazing amount of energy to cast, and leaves the wielder tired and panting for breath. A beam of light comes straight down from the heavens and hits the ground, searing it with scorch marks. Any chaotic being that is caught within the beam of light is burnt heavily, placing them near death. Any chaotic/undead NPC's are obliterated when this light hits them. The beam lasts for 20 seconds and then is dispelled.

Most people veiw paladins as more of a physical class rather than a magical, paticularly the D&D folks. And when it comes to the arena of equipment, the forces of good are certianly well over the other character schemes. Technicallly Paladins are very much able to arm themselves against the forces ofher Evil. There is in essence a holy spell to counter ever evil one, with the exception of maybe a few. Where the forces of evil have their strength in offence and death, the forces of good have their strength in protection and healing. As a matter of fact Healing spell have the reverse effect on undead, making them even more so tools of the side of justice. I do believe it is the forces of evil that is limited, but I think these might make nice additions to the spell list anyways.

Light ball

Notes: Very nice and basic like fireball, which I presume is very much the intention.
Suggested Price: 60

Hand of Faith

Notes: I'm not see too great a difference between this and light ball. Demolishing is possibly to powerful a word for a non epic holy spell spell.
Suggested Price:

Smite Undead

Notes: Chaos has nothing to do with the undead and even less with evil, after all you can have Chaotic good people just as easily as you can have chaotic evil people. This should deal damage to only undead.
Suggested Price: 100

Radaint Light

Notes: Chaos has nothing to do with the undead and even less with evil, after all you can have Chaotic good people just as easily as you can have cahotic evil people. This spell should only be cast in daylight in conditions where the light isn't mostly blocked, such as a horribly overcast sky. The spell would however peirce through the spell Globe of Darkness. There is also the curious matter of whether those dark heated foes with fire immunity could actually be burned (trys to imagine and evil fire elemental getting burnt)
Suggested Price: 200

If you ever get the time to comment on my own suggestions posted as Master Ace (or the two prestige class that I shall be popping out later) I'd be be quite pleased ^_^ .

I think Jarreth wound up proving that Paladins are, in fact, extremely powerful.

Pity, he was supposed to be my weak account  .

However, new spells are never a bad thing. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the comments Vernon/Acey... I was on a strict time limit so forgive my mistakes if they seemed a bit weird.

As for Jarreth... I'll have to look at his role plays and see what he got up to.

OK, on to the spells.

The Lightball spell would have simply exploded on contact, but the Hand of Faith spell would throw the enemy back with it's force. It would demolish such weaker creatures as zombies because of the sheer force of it, whilst PC's would simply be thrown back a little while. Perhaps demolish is too powerful a word... hmmmm... *ponders*

Smite Undead: Agreed

Radiant Light: Since the burning sensation doesn't come from the light itself... but from the raw holy power, it would work on an evil fire being I think.
