Title: Murder in the Underdark
Kiranni - January 6, 2004 10:21 PM (GMT)
Kiranni stalked through Menzoberranzan with a bloodlust which needed satiation. She was a woman on the edge and her eyes seemed as dark as her current disposition. It was night and most were indoors, they knew what went on in the city at night. Things like what Kiranni was about to do. She turned down a dark alleyway and saw her prey. The moment she set her eyes on the pitiful creature she knew this would be her victim. It was a rather unintelligent looking orc. Apparently he was a slave, she judged this by the lash marks on his back which was facing her, some fresh others not quite. Kiranni walked over to him and jabbed him in the shoulder with her finger. He stunk like the putrid sewer-scum he appeared to be. As he turned Kiranni saw him to be rather surly looking, like he was strong, but only good at following orders. Seeing Kiranni in the apparently dangerous mood she embodied the orc looked slightly fearful. Kiranni grinned at his terror.
"Well, looks like the end of the line for you now doesn't it?"
Kiranni asked the thing with a horrible patronizing smile. She pulled out one of her sheathed daggers and stabbed it deep in to the orcs chest, the thing not even making to defend itself. Slowly. Painfully. It seemed excrutiating by the look on it's dimwitted face. Kiranni relished every second of its torment. The orc collapsed, it's hulking mass sinking to the street. Kiranni removed her dagger slowly, causing the thing even more pain. It gave her a pleading looking, it's eyes asking how she could be so cruel. Then in a last action which was completely spur of the moment she slit the orc's throat, left to right, it's dark blood drenching the street. She was surprised the thing hadn't even attampted to defend itself. Sad really, it must have wanted to die, Kiranni thought with satisfaction. She tore a piece of fabric from the bottom of her shirt and cleaned her dagger with it. The blood smelled rank and revolting. She sheathed her dagger and merely stood over her victim as if admiring her own handiwork, bloodlust settled for the moment. Her eyes slowly returned to their normal colour and she smirked devilishly. She just stood there, almost in a sort of reverie, as the orc's blood continued to seep into the street.
Ruairc - February 11, 2004 02:59 AM (GMT)
Ruairc walked casually through the streets, occasional lights flickering overhead. He knew this time would be best for a visit, as the roads were less crowded, therefore less tension, less stress, and less anger. Ruairc hated crowds. Hated to be part of one, and hated to be caught in one. Suddenly, the metallic scent of blood filled the air, and Ruairc wrinked his nose in disgust. An all too common thing in the Underdark, but to one who had grown accustomed to living on the surface, it was rather putrid. He shrugged it off, but as he walked the curb was drenched in blood which was slowly seeping into the lower levels through grates. Not able to bear the stench any longer, he brought his sleeve up to his face and covered his nose and mouth, creating a makeshift air filter. Thats better Turning the corner, he noticed the figure of a woman standing over the carcass of what was undoubtedly an orc. He placed his hand on the hilt of his sword, and approached her cautiously. Maybe suprising her wasn't a great idea, although it would make for a rather amusing reaction.
Kiranni - February 13, 2004 05:51 AM (GMT)
"Who are you?"
Kiranni questioned watching the figure that had approached from the corner of her eye. It was a male as far as she could tell, but the species was yet to be determined. She placed her hands on her daggers in a very threatening fashion. She wasn't in the mood, nor the state of mind, for idle chit chat. She swivelled to face the male and found him to be a drow. Realising that he probably spoke drow she rephrased the question in his native tongue.
"Vel'uss ph' dos?"
She waited her rage fluxuating with each breath she took. Her patience had been stretched so thin it was about ready to snap once more. Her eyes were a sharp black colour. She looked rather like she was dead actually. She frowned in furious anxiety.
Ruairc - February 15, 2004 09:57 PM (GMT)
Ruairc let out his harsh bark of a laugh, then lowered his head in a slight bow. "And I suppose you would tell me who you are, even if I did first?" His face was veiled by shadow created by his hood, and judging by the look in her eyes that was probably a good thing. His eyes followed the trail of blood that was staining the street black, and the rising stench of it would most likely attract some attention. Although the many of the drow were used to death. Perhaps they won't care for another dead orc. Beneath his hood, he stared at the woman, wondering vaugely why she came down here if her only purpose was to kill an orc. After all, they were running rampant above ground as well. "I am Ruairc, and hopefully you wont want to kill me for asking your name?" He raised his eyebrow, and leaned against a street lamp, waiting for her reply.
Kiranni - February 17, 2004 09:55 PM (GMT)
"Don't ask questions that you don't expect answered, and so what if I do want to kill you? My name is Kiranni if you must know,"
Kiranni replied snappishly. He seemed overly arrogant for being in the Underdark. Anyone who knew anything, even drow, were slightly weary when in Menzoberranzan, especially at night. She scowled at the drow who know leaned leisurely against a street lamp. Kiranni wanted to slap Ruairc, the cocky drow, but restrained herself. Instead she drew one of her daggers playing with it momentarily, before advancing on Ruairc. She cocked her head to one side and pointed her dagger at him.
"What brings you to Menzoberranzan?"
Kiranni questioned, now placing her index finger on the dagger's point and drawing a bit of blood. She continued to watch the drow in slight insanity.
Ruairc - February 17, 2004 10:10 PM (GMT)
Ruairc smirked under his hood at the fact that she cut herself. What is this girl? Insane? He reached out, and pushed the flat of the blade away as not to cut himself. "Tsk... Now why did you do that?" He took her cut hand in his. "You have nice hands. Wouldn't like to see them bleeding." He continued to smirk at her, and released her hand, his own falling to his side. "I am merely passing through. Visiting you might say." He crossed his arms, and stared at her, wondering why she had this seemingly unsatiable bloodlust. It was apparent that she wasn't quite done with her little killing spree.
((sorry its so short))
Kiranni - February 19, 2004 10:07 PM (GMT)
"You truly think you scare me with your remarks? I am a goddess of darkness, one to be feared. I suggest you keep your hands off. You truly are as cocky as I first took you to be,"
Kiranni replied in anger at being addressed thusly. She usualy didn't invoke her goddess ship like that, but it had put her over the edge. She felt slightly unhinged. She pulled out her other dagger, pointing them both at Ruairc as if warding him off. She wished he would leave. She was in absolutely no mood for his snobbery.
"What is a pathetic person such as yourself doing here in Menzoberranzan? I know you are a drow, but I figured one so seemingly weak as yourself would have been picked off rather quickly,"
Kiranni continued in hatred. She had just met Ruairc, and already she felt she disliked the drow. Perhaps it was because he reminded her so much of herself more than for any other reason.
Feiori Taispen - February 24, 2004 10:04 PM (GMT)
((Aw crap... not again... I have serious issues))
Ruairc smirked again, yet remained unmoving. "You call me weak? I for one do not hide behind titles." Ruaircs hand drifted subconsciously to the hilt of his sword, and he glanced at the corpse again. "And judging by your opponent, it was not a difficult battle was it? What do you do, pick off the elderly and the sick in fear that you are too weak to have an honest fight?" Ruairc knew he had gone too far. He drew his sword and stepped away from her. His swordtip was pointed downwards as not to suggest a challenge. After all, what chance did he have fighting a goddess? Why were they arguing anyway? Ruairc tried to recall which stupid remark had pushed them to the brink of battle.
Kiranni - February 25, 2004 10:16 PM (GMT)
Kiranni's eyes blazed in furher fury. She had had enough.
"You think me arrogant? You think I rose to this title by being weak? I don't think so. I was not looking for battle, merely the enjoyment of the kill you piteous creature. I suggest you stop hiding behind your words and fight me. You have brought this completely upon yourself,"
Kiranni retorted in sheer anger. She felt flushed with rage. She wanted to slice Ruairc to pieces. Her fists were clenched so tightly about her dagger hilts that her knuckles were white.
"I suggest you draw your weapon unless you wish to flee like the coward I suspect you are,"
Kiranni replied watching to see how this would phase the infuriating drow before her. Her breathing was unsteady and ragged as if she had just run a long distance. Her anger could do that to her.
Ruairc - March 22, 2004 03:25 AM (GMT)
Ruairc laughed again. He twirled his sword at his side, almost boredly. It was true though, he was hiding behind words. And as to this point, it wasn't working. He wracked his mind, trying to think of something, to say, but gave up and sneered, "Weak and stupid. As you can see, my weapon is drawn, but, why resort to such violence? Perhaps it is only that the stench of Orc blood has gone to your mind, and you have begun acting like them." He smirked, although he felt more like trembling. No. He would not let this woman have the satisfaction of knowing she had scared him. He brought his sword in an elegant arc over his head, then brought it down to a ready position. "But, if we must..."
Kiranni - March 22, 2004 09:53 PM (GMT)
Kiranni merely cackled maniacally. She could smell Ruaircs fear, he reeked of it, she could sense his hesitation. She controlled herself and prepared for combat, still sporting a vindictive smile.
"You fear me and yet you still wait for me to attack, perhaps you are slightly braver than appearances suggest,"
Kiranni replied as her grip loosened and tightened on her daggers. She knew that above all, males were the first to attack and talk later, and hated being proved wrong. They were egotistical and blinded by pride. Kiranni wanted to kill Ruairc, but doubted he would allow her to. Either way, she was going to fight him. His sword scared her very little. She suspected that he wasn't co ordinated enough to fight in the style of Draa Velve as he only carried one sword.
"Ready?"
She questioned evilly. Then, not waiting for response, she attacked him aiming mostly for head or feet. This was going to be fun.
Ruairc - March 25, 2004 09:44 PM (GMT)
How did she know...? Ruairc asked himself, refering to the fact that this woman seemed to know he was afraid. Before he had time to think of some snide remark, she had already started her attack. He deflected the dagger headed towards his head, then turned his blade slightly to block her second weapon. Realizing there was no way he could get his sword to his ankles in time, he jumped over the dagger, then spun while still in mid-air, and landed facing her. "I'm always ready." Ruairc sneered. He spun his sword in that same elegant arc, then resumed attack. He aimed a powerful blow to her waist, and wondered vaugely how she was going to stop it with only her daggers.
Kiranni - March 29, 2004 09:46 PM (GMT)
Kiranni quickly dodge rolled away from Ruairc's attack, the blade skimming her back. It gave a dull ache, but was nothing too serious. She quickly cast a darkness spell that would leave Ruairc unable to see, but herself still able to. She grinned, a feral look in her eyes. She stood up silently so as not to give her position away to Ruairc. She crept quietly over to a building that was old and worn from time. It had many holes which would make good hand and footholds for climbing. She sheathed her daggers and soundlessly began to ascend to the top of the building. She slipped once and a few pebbles tumbled to the ground. Kiranni cursed herself for the unnecessary noise, but soon reached the top of the flat, decrepit building. She took her longbow off her back and removed an ice inflicted arrow from her quiver. She fitted it in place and took aim at Ruairc's head. I hope this kills you, Kiranni thought to herself as she pulled her bow taught and loosed her ice laden shaft.
Ruairc - March 30, 2004 03:15 AM (GMT)
Ruairc swore quietly, wondering where that cursed woman had gotten off to now. He sheathed his sword, as in this darkness it would be no good to him.
"You coward... If this is a typical battle for you, I no longer wonder how you rose to such a title..." Perhaps he could still find her if she made any noise. A small rock slide from one of the nearby buildings made him jump. Of course... the roofs! He turned, and almost ran back to the lamp post, when something peirced just below his shoulder. Still unable to see very well, he stumbled to the post, half guided by the dim light. He snapped the arrow in two pieces and threw the half he was holding to the ground, the other half still sticking awkwardly out of his chest. "Where are you...?"
Kiranni - April 1, 2004 09:57 PM (GMT)
"You'll have to do something fairly soon, before the ice paralyses your entire body, and just because I don't fight fair does not make me a coward,"
Kiranni replied with a sneer, knowing Ruairc alreadly suspected where she had gone. The slipping rocks would have given her away. She replaced her bow on her back and leapt off the top of the building, it was only a seven or eight foot drop. She landed crouching on her haunches, the soft leather soles of her boots making little noise. She circled Ruairc so that she was now at his back. She leaned casually against a nearby building.
"Had enough yet?"
She questioned unsheathing her katanas this time. She didn't assume the drow would back down that easily and she had just given away her new position. She waited, watching the drow's movement, fists clenched on the hilts of her blades.
Ruairc - April 5, 2004 09:19 PM (GMT)
Ruairc staggered to his feet with a snarl. He unsheathed his sword and pointed it at her. Dispite the poison, he had a determined glint in his eyes. Resuming the battle, he aimed for the bowstring across her shoulders. He ducked beneath her arm, and from behind snapped the bowstring, then took a few steps back as the weapon fell with a clatter to the ground. Half smiling, he spun his sword around himself, then stopped with a grimace. The poison was working faster than he had thought, but he would no sooner let her kill him then ask her for the antidote. "How long are we going to keep at each other like this?" Ruairc put on his most innocent grin. As if she would just stop like that... Oh well, it was worth a try. Perhaps if she did, he could leave and find a healer or something before it was too late. His grin faded as he glanced at the bow, then back up to Kiranni. She's going to make me pay for that...
Kiranni - April 7, 2004 11:05 PM (GMT)
"Until you cry mercy,"
Kiranni said with a malicious pleasure, emphasizing every word. She watched Ruairc's movements and guessed that the ice had most likely begun to affect him. Smirking she continued to watch the drow.
"You interest me Ruairc. You and I both know that you cannot kill me, and yet here we are, battling insanely. Why do you continue to fight, and do you really think I need my bow to harm you with my arrows?"
Kiranni replied watching Ruairc steadily, eyes blazing into his. Her hands fidgeted on her blades wanting to lash out at Ruairc and allieviate some of he hatred towards him. Why is it that you can decide within nearly a moment of meeting someone that you dislike them? Kiranni thought to herself all the while watching Ruairc. She continued to stand expectantly knowing that some form of attack would most likely be forthcoming.
