Title: Practice
Description: Open
Nightwind - May 4, 2007 02:48 PM (GMT)
Sava strolled into the arena, her human form, tall, and slim. Hair black and green in a long braid, going to her middle back. He eyes glowered with annoyance as she walked in. She carried many weapons, two at her each hip, both giving of a magical aura. In her hands she held a glaive, a new weapon she fancied, she found she was alright with it, but she needed to get some practice in with it. She twirled it in her hands a moment, as she walked. When she stepped into the arena, there weren't many people, only a few others who have come to practice, no tournaments were going about. She smiled.
It was large, and nice, she found that she liked it here better than most places. This was her first time here, and already she enjoyed herself. She looked at people who practiced with each other, or with straw dummies as most like to. In Norwood, she always practiced there, sometimes she would hack at a tree, though, she knew some wood elves wouldn't like it, or ranger, but who was she to care? She hardly cared about anyone except her closest friends and herself.
Sava walked to her left, towards a corner, where a straw dummy was, but she stood a little ways away from it. She took her pack off, and all her other weapons, and set them aside, she then turned around and twirled her glaive. Sometimes she stumble a bit and the glaive would fall, but she was quick to catch it, and continue to twirl it with both her hands. After ten minutes she put it down then picked up another weapon, this one was beautiful, and it was one of her magic blades. She twirled this one in her hand with better ease, then she lifted it up, and pointed it at the straw dummy.
"Practice with magic is always handy." She mumbled to herself, then said a word of magic, then the blade crackled with lightning, then a quick bolt of lightning flashed from the sword and hit the dummy, and it like blow up, straw went everywhere, and fell. She smiled. She didn't feel as weak as when she tried it last time. She sighed a little, then laughed a bit. "I mutilated it..." She said, grinning a bit, as she turned around and went over to look at her weapons. She grabbed a whetstone and started sharpening her lightning blade.
Taima - May 8, 2007 03:21 PM (GMT)
Walking into the arena, watching the various people training with dummies or each other, Taima is nervous yet anxious. Walking up to a dummy far from the groups of people, he takes a few swings at it, getting his blood pumping. After throughly pounding on the straw model he uppercuts, in his excitement and adrenaline he unwittingly lets his claws emerge and decapitates the dummy. Looking around he quickly regains control, and watches for anyone to scream or try to beat him or even call the guard. Backing away even further and taking his quarterstaff off his back, he does routines and movements. As he goes on, he becomes nearly lost in a meditative trance...save for keeping an ear out for someone wanting his head. Going on for what seems like hours, he keeps up his routine, at one point laying his staff on the ground after a move and continuing with his body alone. Finally slowing down and performing slow cleansing moves, he sees a dummy get blasted by a sword sheathed in what looks like lightning. "Whoa, better remember not to get on the bad side of that person." he mutters to himself.
Nightwind - May 8, 2007 03:49 PM (GMT)
Sava looked at her lightning blade, as the blade continued to crackle with lightning, waiting for a command from Sava, but she did not say anything, and the blades lightning faded away, leaving it looking like a normal blade. she sheethed it, and looked at the destoryed dummie. Grumbling about something, she turned to pick up her glaive again, and twirled it in her hands, and moving around in fighting patterns she learned at an academy.
She turned around and noticed the lycan. She stopped, and stood up straight, looking at him, and she narrowed her eyes a moment. "First day here, and there are already strange things happening, better stop getting surprised, Sava." She mumbled to herself. After a bit, she looked away in thought. She picked up her sheethed scimitar and walked over to the lycan, glancing back at her stuff, hoping no one would take anything, but smiled again. No one would touch her stuff, Blackquill her fly dragon will protect the stuff.
When near the lycan, she waved her hand slightly, but quickly put it to her side. "Hello... I was wondering if you'd like to practice with me? I could use a good challenge, perhaps." She said, looking calm and cheerful.
Taima - May 8, 2007 06:42 PM (GMT)
Seeing the woman walk over he thought, "Great, now I'm going to get it." Picking up his staff and standing up straight, he bows slightly when she raises her hand and speaks. "A duel??? Well, I haven't had one of those in awhile. Depends on what type of duel you're talking about, but more than likely yes, I will accept your challenge." Leaning a bit for balance on his staff, Taima stares her in the eyes. "Name is Taima, figure it would be best to know my opponent's name before we fought, don't you think?" He waits and watches to see what her answer will be, yet always glancing about for trouble.
Nightwind - May 8, 2007 07:52 PM (GMT)
For a quick moment a strange glint went through her black and green eyes, but was quickly gone as fast as it had come, and was replaced by a cheerful gaze. She looked over the man, wondering a moment, then smiled. She had done many duels in her training, her favorite person to duel with was Dara, Fios' half sister. "Oh, it will just be a simple practice duel, been a long time since I just practiced with someone, I am never able to it seems..." She said simply, still smiling.
"My name is Savarkael, though, most call me Sava." She said, bowing her head a little, before looking back up at the man. She looked at her scimitar, and narrowed her eyes a moment. "This will not do, if I am to fight someone who has only a staff." She mumbled.
Taima - May 8, 2007 08:05 PM (GMT)
Thinking he saw a glint in her eye, his claws quickly grasped as the staff then retracted as soon as possible. Feeling as though something was unique about this one, realizing this would be a lot easier if he was away from public eye. Seeing her look at her scimitar then his staff, he chuckled...knowing she didn't think it an even match. Do we have to do this here, or can we go somewhere more open and less public, I dislike crowds. I am guessing you find it uneven...a blade versus a staff, that might be in the long run but it would suffice for a short period. Thinking to himself, he knows this is going to be tough if we stay here, his lycan side likes to come out in battle, most of the time on it's own accord. Praying quickly for control, he opens his eyes once more and gazes at Sava, wondering what her answer is and when the first strike will occur.
Nightwind - May 8, 2007 08:19 PM (GMT)
Curious, he seems different, and he seems to have a few secrets, like me, but that doesn't quite matter at the moment, she thought to herself, and she glanced back at her weapons for a moment, before looking back at Taima, and nodded her head slightly. "If you wish to go somewhere else less public to duel, then that is fine by me... where would you like to practice at?" She asked, not at all caring where they went to practice, just as long as she practice something.
"Yes, I do find it a bit uneven, but I guess it'll have to do... after all, all my weapons are sharp and pointy." She said grinning a little. She looked at the other people who dueled and practiced, some glanced there way, but someone didn't mind, in her human form she had nothing really to hide.
Taima - May 9, 2007 12:54 PM (GMT)
"Either a secluded part of the arena or if they have some sort of wooded area that would be best." He smiled a little inside, knowing she had no idea what lie in store for her if he could get away from prying eyes. Then again maybe she did, but it would be fun regardless. Leaning a little more on his staff for support before standing up and touching his wolf head scar over his heart, he prepares himself. Practice duel or not, this could end badly either physically or otherwise. "So will this be a first blood match or until one of us can no longer fight? Ready when you are..."
Nightwind - May 9, 2007 01:38 PM (GMT)
Her eyes grew curious once more, wondering why he wanted to go to some secluded area. She thought of a place, but she had idea where a place would be at. "I do not know of a place, unless, we could go outside the gates, and duel there, but I truly, I'd like to know why, you want to go to some secluded area, what secrets are you hiding?.... nevermind, I'll figure it out later, hopefully." She said, her tone a little annoyed, but calm.
"We'll go out of the gates, they aren't far, and it is the best solution I can think of, so you can follow me if you want." She said, walking towards her equipment and picked up the weapons and pack. "I'd prefer not to draw blood, last thing I need is to have another scar, I have to many." She said, and her empty hand touched the base of her neck, and she shuddered a moment. She has a terrible scar there from the best, Dulhar she had fought with many others. When she had all her weapons, she turned to Taima. "If you know of a better place then tell me, or we can continue to go outside the gate."
Taima - May 9, 2007 01:50 PM (GMT)
"Sounds good to me, as for secrets I have few or rather few that I know of. I do not like crowds and people tend to not like me, also I feel more at home outside of towns and cities." Using his staff for balance he walks towards the gate, praying that the guard doesn't stop him. Finding a break in the trees he walks and finds a nice spot of bare earth...more then enough for two people to run and fight in. Sitting down, he waits for Sava...eyes focused, mind clear, his other side barely in check. "I hope this isn't too crowded for you, whenever you wish to start, you may. I hate throwing the first punch."
Nightwind - May 9, 2007 02:14 PM (GMT)
She walked to the same place Taima did, and dropped her equipment, and she looked about, nodding with approval, she turned back to Taima, as she unsheethed her scimitar. She twirled it in her hand a moment, and a grin went on her face. She went into a fighting stance, one she normally had, and she held her blade in a firm grip. "Something tells me this battle will be a little tough, though, maybe a little equal." She said, the last part quiet though.
She lifted her blade, over her head, and then in a swift movement bringing it down at Taima's head, knowing that he would block this attack easy, after all, it was the starting blow.
Taima - May 9, 2007 03:15 PM (GMT)
Smiling as she surveys the area, he waits for it. Ahh there it is, the overhead slash. Tell me Sava, would you like to know my secret? He said this as he brought the middle of his staff up to block her strike, the iron keeping the wood intact. Flipping up to his feet, he takes his stance...twirling his staff around a few times. After circling for a few seconds he attacks using the staff to vault he launches himself in the air, coming down straight at Sava's head, his staff a blur ready to crack her skull. This is going to be fun, so much fun... he muttered to himself, waiting for the flash of steel to block him.
Nightwind - May 9, 2007 05:11 PM (GMT)
When he blocked her weapon she stepped away, a grin on her face a glint in her eyes. When he spoke she thought a moment, but never lost her concentration on his attack. When he came down at her head, she jumped to the left, out of the staff's reach, then swung her blade at his side, hoping to get him off guard.
"Tell me if you want, or don't, either way, I'll find out." She said, smiling menacingly. This is nice, a little practice, just hope I don't get another scar, she thought to herself, as she striked.
Taima - May 9, 2007 05:19 PM (GMT)
Grinning wide now, bringing up his staff to block her strike and getting face to face with her. "Well best not keep you waiting then should I?" Flipping away once more, he transforms in midair, landing a lycan. Dropping his staff on the ground and crouches a little and flexes his claws. Now I believe the weapons are fair. Scratching a rut in the dirt and using it to jump forward, rolls in midair and aims for her chest with his hind leg. Let's hope I can be careful enough to keep her request. he mutters
Nightwind - May 10, 2007 01:02 AM (GMT)
She stared at him, a grin still on her face, when he pushed away and turned into a lycan, her eyes widened a bit, as she stared at him, her mouth slightly open, then she smiled again. "So it seems... I knew you had some secret, though, not this." She said, her voice a little dull. As he attacked, she stepped back, bringing her sword up, and blocked his attack, by the flat of her sword, hitting his leg, without waiting to see what happened, she brought her sword up and attacked the lycan, towards his shoulder.
"I have secrets too, but those are for you to wait and see, later." She said.
Taima - May 10, 2007 12:32 PM (GMT)
Tucking into a quick roll after her block, hearing the blade whistle overhead, he throws his hand out into a handstand type manuever. Launching himself back at Sava he plants both feet in her chest this time before flipping away again. "If not this, then what were you expecting? Some insane maniac who would kill you in a heartbeat? I may not know or remember much, but I do retain my honor and chivalry." Saying this, he waits for her to get up, anticipating her return strike. Concentrating silently for but a second, he feels that warmth again...cascading down to his claws. Time to check for the other thing I know of...undead. If she isn't should bring a nice cozy feel to the battle. he whispered.
Nightwind - May 10, 2007 02:44 PM (GMT)
Sava fell to the ground when Taima hit her to the ground. For a moment, her eyes blazed with a new look, that was anger, but was quickly gone. She stood to her feet, and was already in her stance again, and smirk on her face, then shrugged lightly. "I truly don't know what I was expecting." She said, as she took another swing at the lycan, though, this time ready to get out of the way if an attack came her way. After her first swing to his left side, she brought her blade back, and striked at his chest.
"How long you been a lycan? All your life?" She asked simply as she attacked. She liked talking sometimes as she battled, well, practice, she never talked while in a killing battle.
Taima - May 10, 2007 04:03 PM (GMT)
Hearing her question made him stop for a second, allowing her blade to hit...not much but enough for blood to flow, his upper arm having a narrow gash across it. Growling he caught her blade this time, keeping it between his long claws. I don't know how long I have been this way. I was exiled for it and tossed into a ditch by the road, but I cannot recollect anything else. He said this between breaths, while trying to hold back the insanity he knew it would cause like last time. Taima's eyes sadden for a moment before he pushes backwards and takes up his stance again. Grabbing his staff quickly he launches it at Sava's head, while he rushes and aims low. He doesn't really care anymore whether he gets hit or not, trying to stay sane is his utmost priority now.
Nightwind - May 10, 2007 07:31 PM (GMT)
She stared at the wound she made, and narrowed her eyes, though a look of sorry was in her eyes. She didn't really mean to cut him, but it was practice, she could use her spell heal after their skirmish. She looked at her blade he caught in his claws, and listened to him speak, and she noticed the sad look in his eyes before he pushed her blade away. "I'm sorry to hear that, that seem to happen a lot to many, though, I don't know how it feels... I've never been exiled... I only know what its liked to be betrayed by loved ones." She said, thinking of her dragon parents who tried killing her, she had no love towards them, only a hatred.
She brought her sword down, and hit the staff aside a little, so it wouldn't hit her, and she stepped forward, slashing at him, though, hoping she wouldn't really draw more blood.
Taima - May 10, 2007 09:16 PM (GMT)
Seeing the sword coming down, he rolls to the side scratching a rut in the ground as he slides. I know not of any loved ones, only that from what i was told by my wounds, my monastery exiled me after beating me. Don't worry about cutting me either, it keeps my mind off worst things. Falling to his knees, his eyes closed in pain as memories try to cascade through his mind. No, not again...leave me alone!!! Whispering to himself, trying to gain control again...oblivious to Sava or the surroundings. Eyes suddenly snapping open as he banishes the thoughts, he launches headfirst at Sava's throat, twisting to launch a foot into her abdomen if she twists out of the way. His eyes are locked onto hers going between battle lust, sorrow and loss.
Nightwind - May 11, 2007 03:23 PM (GMT)
She nodded slightly as she listened to him, then he fell to his knees. She stopped her attack, and took a step forward to see if he was OK. But she felt something was wrong, she took a couple steps back, and raised her weapon, she looked at Taima, wondering if he was alright, but she didn't find it safe. When he opened his eyes and lunged at her, she took in a deep breath. As he looked in her eyes, she stared back, her eyes a bit stern. She stepped back again, but it was to late, he would get her no matter what, but she could possible wound him again, when he wasn't looking, but she didn't want to hurt him more. This always happen to me, first Shorin, and now this, way do I get on everyones bad side? she thought to herself, while wondering what she should do, then she smirked.
As he hit her, she brought her feet up up and managed to kick him in the gut. While she did that, she brought her sword around, to at least cut his arm a little.
Taima - May 11, 2007 03:57 PM (GMT)
Seeing the smirk, he knew a wound was inevitable, but he did not care as long as it got rid of these memories, at least for now. Brought to his knees from her kick, he instinctively raises his arm to block the slash he knows is coming. Misjudging the direction caused him to block with his lower arm and wrist rather then his claws and hand. Without a wince or sign of discomfort he uses the sword to hoist himself to his feet and stares at Sava. Thank you Sava, i needed that, sorry for my behavior, damned curse. saying this in a raspy voice, he bows slightly and steps away. Taking up his stance again, staff in hand he readies himself, steady and sane. Praying that another episode does not occur.
Nightwind - May 11, 2007 04:20 PM (GMT)
Sava stared at him, wondering. He was fine now, and he was glad for her to do that. She smiled a little, and stood up after he did. She looked at her sword, that had some of Taima's blood. She narrowed her eyes. She was hoping not to draw blood, but, he was still fine. She smiled a little. "No problem, I'm getting used to people going a little psycho on me, I always get on their bad side... at least I know what to do now." She said, calmly. "Shall we continue?" She asked, already in her stance again, and she held her blade in a tight grip.
She stepped back then ran forward, her sword ready to swing. When near she swung her blade on her right, towards his shoulder.
Taima - May 11, 2007 04:44 PM (GMT)
Bad side? No you didn't get on my bad side. If you did, then they would be more blood on the ground trust me. Saying this as he swung his staff up to meet her strike, then using the bottom half to hit her left leg, making her off balance and giving her a light tap on the back before sidestepping away. So is this what you wanted out of a fight Sava? Whether it be practice or not. After saying this, he quickly makes a crude bandage from a strip of clothing and covers his arm, the blood starting to make his staff slick to hold. Rushing forward he jumps and slides when he draws close, throwing out a foot to catch Sava behind her calf, ready to use his staff for defense or a way to divert and stop his movement.
Nightwind - May 11, 2007 05:01 PM (GMT)
"Yes, more blood, more gore, I'd hate it... I'd hate to try killing you, I'm not one for wanting to kill, unlike my parents and brothers and sisters, thats why they are all dead... except Sheva." She said, hatred clear in her voice when she spoke that name, as he made her loose her balance, and her sword fell out of her grip, she grimaced slightly as she nearly gained her balance again, but he kicked her calf, and she fell to the ground, she rolled unto her back, and looked up, a little angry, but she smiled.
"This has been fun." She said, jumping to her feet, but she made no move to pick up her weapon, instead, she started changing, her body suddenly covered with black and green scales, and her body taking a dragon form, the size of a medium one. After a minute or so, instead of a human being, she was a dragon,a mix between a black and a green. Sava dug her claws into the dirt, breaking roots. A smile was on the dragons face, though it was mostly out of fun.
"I just want to practice, I don't have any intention of trying to kill you, unlike some of those damn guards..." She said a bit angrily, though her eyes were cheerful. I feel safer in this form... she though a moment, then she looked at Taima, wondering what he reaction would be towards her now.
Taima - May 11, 2007 05:18 PM (GMT)
Getting up and turning around, Taima expected to see a human still before him, instead he was looking at a creature with a long tail, sharp teeth and scales. Obviously perplexed, he didn't realize it was Sava until she spoke again. Well don't you look unique, this will be fun, I hope you don't object to me climbing over you. Saying this as he ran, dodging claws and keeping an eye on the swaying tail, he vaults onto Sava's back and positions himself between her shoulders and neck, hopefully out of reach of pointy appendages. So how to fight this fair, she could easily eat me, and my body would be torn to shreds. Just have to be really careful.
Nightwind - May 11, 2007 07:21 PM (GMT)
Sava let out a laugh, though it was more of a strange growl in her throat. "Fun, indeed, lycan, fun." She said, grinning her strange dragon grin. When he jumped onto her back, she shivered a little, shaking, just to see if he would fall, but she guessed his won't, he could stay on easy with his claws. She turned her head to look at Taima, watching him with an amused look in her eyes, then she turned around, and looked at the clearing they practiced in, and she narrowed her gaze. "This will not do..." She whispered. She turned her gaze back to Taima, and flung her tail up and at the lycan, to get him off her back.
She smiled, as a little drip of acid come from her mouth, but not a lot, but near Taima. She loved to use her acid sometimes, it was a handy little thing she got from her black dragon side.
Taima - May 11, 2007 07:49 PM (GMT)
Whoa, so many things to dodge, have to worry mainly about the tail and head...whoa was that acid, ok especially need to watch for that Saying this as he attempts to dodge her tail as he works his way around her neck. He doesn't even see a way to attack her besides thrusting his claws into her scales, but he doesn't think that will do much. What are you anyway?? I've never seen a lizard this big before. Slowly creeping his way higher onto her head, trying to avoid her teeth and the dripping acid, he strives to maintain balance.
Nightwind - May 11, 2007 08:08 PM (GMT)
As he climbed up, she shook her head, sometimes more acid dripping. She looked down at him, watching as he climbed up higher. She smiled again, this time razor sharp teeth showing. "Never heard of a dragon then? Well, I am a mix dragon, I am a black and green dragon, both of the evil alignment, though, I don't like those of evil ways. There a many like me, though, different colors. This is my true form, I was born as a egg, and hatched, I learned to change into a human for safety... not many know of my true form, except those I trust." She said, as she snapped her teeth at Taima, though not aiming to kill him, just to keep him back down.
She crouched low, then jumped high into the air, and flapped her wings a moment, then she landed back on the ground, hoping to get him off.
Taima - May 11, 2007 08:17 PM (GMT)
Dragon huh, if I knew of them it was before I lost my memory, for you are the first I have seen that I can remember. So does this mean you trust me, since you showed me your true form?? Saying this as the head snaps at him and the body rumble underneath him, Taima took a chance and swung around the neck finally landing on top of Sava's mouth(snout/nose/whatever it's called) clinging with claws fully extended and holding on for dear life. Watching crouch and jump, he held on as best he could, the landing jarring him from her face and making him scrabble down her back, ending at the base of the tail. Now wondering what is coming next Taima tries to claw his way back up. You could warn me of that next time! He yelled, partially as a joke, partly because he didn't want to fall from that height.
Nightwind - May 11, 2007 08:27 PM (GMT)
Eh, I don't know if I can trust you.... yet, but you seem like someone I could, I mostly changed because it has been almost over a day since I was last a dragon, I hate staying a human for long." She said simply, annoyed though that he got to her head. When they had landed he fell, and she looked over at him, and watched him try getting up, and laughed her dragon laugh. "Telling you wouldn't be fun, now would it, Taima?" She said, swinging her tail, ready to hit him with it.
She brought her head close to the lycan, looking at him through her strange eyes. Then she brought her head up quickly and made a strange noise in her throat, and acid starting dripping a bit faster, and then her tail swung forward, towards Taima. "Since I am your first, then this is good practice, in case you run into another, so you know, the best spot to hurt a dragon in the underbelly, where the scales are weaker, but that is if you can get there."
Taima - June 13, 2007 02:05 PM (GMT)
Looking into her catlike eyes, he wonders about whether or not the feeling will become mutual. Minding the acid, he dashes forward throwing his shoulder into her underbelly. You said if I could get there. Quickly scrabbling around to an arm and hoisting himself up, he rested upon her neck once again. Rubbing his shoulder, he looks down and sees her tail resting where he just was. Well that was close...and if that was supposed to be the soft side of a dragon, I hope I never fight one for real. Readying himself for another attack, he digs his claws in prepared to launch himself elsewhere.
Nightwind - June 13, 2007 02:26 PM (GMT)
She flinced slightly when he reached her weaker part, and glared at him a moment, then smirked evilly. "So I did." She said in a quieter tone. Her tail wavered back and forth, ready to strike at any moment. She Noticed him readying for another attack, and she crouched low a little, and swung her tail, and while doing that, she opened her jaws wide, and snapped at him, while she wondered if she'd get him or not, though, she didn't want to hurt him with her sharp teeth, she just wanted to get a blow in. Sides, if he got hurt, she has healing spells, though, sometimes she wasn't the best with all spells. As she attacked, her claws dug into the earth, breaking a root every now and then.
