The idle click of his boots lifted up into the silence of the long winding hall, warning everyone of his presence in the barren corridor. As he continued along through the stone passageway, his right hand lifted delicately towards the wall, only to allow his digits to lightly drag across its rough exterior. Occasionally stealing a glance through a passing window, his eyes laid rest on what would be the front of a violent storm. He could feel the vibrations of the thunders wake, but the flashes of light and dark clouds only amplified what he had thought to be a brewing storm. Just perfect…Not only would he have to fight in front of countless hundreds, but rain had to be factored in and just not any ordinary rain, but a torrential downpour.

Heaving a wayward sigh, he pressed on deeper into the corridor until a light broke the darkness in the distance. A faint noise could be heard, but it still remained unknown to his ears. That however would change with the closer he got to the light. Then and only then could he recognize it as one thing and that was the cheers of the crowd. Drawing in a deep breath, he pushed forth and out into the vast opening of the arena around him. Then without warning the gates slammed shut behind him, causing him to briefly glance behind him.

Nervously biting at his lip, his eyes gradually scanned across the surrounding masses. He never experienced anything like this before, but he never had the guts to do something quite like this either. Then again he was a changed man now and there was nothing that could stop him from accomplishing the things that he wished to accomplish. He wanted to enjoy life and make a name for himself in the process and this certainly was the place to do it. Even if he won or lost right now, his name would still come to mind, but that would depend upon how the fight would go.

Taking in another breath he casually moved up the arena steps and onto the hard dirt flooring that spanned across the wide body of the arena. At first glance it somewhat reminded him of a coliseum, but not quite as big or elaborate. Glancing around for a brief moment, his eyes came across an old rickety cart of hay off along one of the walls. And from there all he found was nothing but dirt and rocks, with the exception of a few blood stains that littered the ground. Finding his spot in the arena, he simply waited for his opponent to appear from the gate before him.
