Title: Dancer in the Waves
Description: Open
Marienen - February 28, 2007 03:22 AM (GMT)
The sun sank below the horizon, and Marienen Q'Xorlarrin stirred from where she'd gone to sleep, large rocks from a nearby jetty having provided her the shade she required while her sensitive eyes slowly adjusted to the light of the world above. The moon was just beginning to peek above the horizon, farewelling the sun, when she stepped out of the niche she'd found in the jetty. The young drow yawned and stretched, working out kinks in her neck and shoulders, and then turned to the open sea. She watched the waves lap at the shore, depositing driftwood, shells, and other small objects, then turned her gaze to the endless stretch of water.
Briefly, she wondered how her sisters, other outcasts like herself, the champions of Eilistraee, were doing. She'd left them to go traveling many, many moons ago, and she missed them all dearly. Marienen removed her simple traveling shoes, placing them on a rock beside her, and waded into the water, letting the waves crash around her legs. It took her a few minutes to find her balance, and by then it was almost time. She watched the moon rise slowly, it's soft, pale light reflecting in her amber eyes. It took a while, but when she was sure it was time - a surety in her heart - she lifted her hands to the sky. "Eilistraee, Usstan belbau nindol lil'alure ulu dos lu' ussta dalninin. Gre'as'anto wund'akhen ulu udossa nindol isto. Plynn uns'aa wund dosst da'rex lu' izin uns'aa v'dre hwuen udos huthin shlu'ta thalra," she said softly, offering the greeting and simple prayer to Eilistraee.
At the next crash of the waves, Marienen began to dance, moving with the water, but at the same time following a pattern she'd danced a thousand times before. She imagined herself in her circle, dancing with her sisters. As she twirled, leaping out of the water for a brief second, her long silvery-white hair seemed to capture the moonlight. It streamed behind her like a moonbeam, briefly wavering as she landed. She could almost hear the music now, the soft, gentle flutes and the stronger drumbeats and strings of those of her sisters who played. Her lips curled into a slight smile, and she dipped small bows to either side of her, integrating them into her dance.
For a brief while, Marienen Q'Xorlarrin, a champion of Eilistraee, was alive, at peace, and, most importantly, home. The moon seemed to smile down on her. Bel'la dos, ussta dalninin, whol nindol lil'alure d' udosst, she whispered in her mind, dancing with the wind in her hair and the water at her feet.
Arthur Pendragon - February 28, 2007 10:41 PM (GMT)
Arthur blue scales shown brightly in the moonlight as fished among the waves in his dragon form his big dragon like wings glad to be in open air again. He saw a drow dancing upon the shore and he thought," Well this is interesting a drow here hmmm". He dropped down and caught a tuna with his claws getting his scales a little wet. HE then flew guite masterfully to where the drow was and landed not far away. He gathered a few sticks with his claws making sure not break any and then blew fire on them and then put the tuna on the fire. He looked at the drow with his big dragon like eyes and said," You dance beautifully surely one such as you would dance for a Dragon while he ate his supper". He then said," Come join me I promise I don't bite". HE chuckled a little and then said," Please delight these young bones".

Startled from her dance, Marienen lost the spirit of the song. Faltering at the loss of her sisters' soft voices, she came to a whirling stop, her moonlight-white hair swishing softly to a stop down her back. She raised one pale eyebrow and cleared her throat. "Vendui, waelin maelthra," she said softly, a shade irritated that her dance had been interrupted. "I dance for my sisters, for life and for beauty and peace. I dance not because one has asked me to, as if I were some entertainer. I have my pride as ilythiiri and as woman. But, if you might share with me some of your meal - a tiny portion only - I would gladly entertain you with song and music," she said, gesturing to a small harp that lay against the rocks, waiting for her to find an excuse to play it. The strings needed to be tightened, no doubt, but her harp gave such a sweet melody that it could bring even the hardiest warrior to tears.
She knew she was walking a thin line, asking that this dragon feed her, but Marienen had not had a decent meal in a very long time, and if he wanted her to perform for him - she assumed it was a male - then he could very well share food with her, as she would have to a visitor to any camp of her own. She smiled slightly. "Dancing makes one very hungry. Perhaps, with enough food in me, I could continue my dance later. My sisters wait for me to join their circle, somewhere out there," she said, gesturing toward the wide world.

Arthur smiled and said," Sure this tuna is big enough for both of us". He concentrarted and went back to regular form which most people would find shocking. His logn blonde hair replaced the scales and his intense blue eyes replaced the dragon like ones all in all he had an elvish dragon look to him. He said," Please don't be frightened Iam only half-dragon I could use the company".
He looked around and thought," SIsters I see no one is she mad". He smiled and said," Well I will let you get back to your sisters once Iam done Dragons Honor, but I must say I see no one but us here unless you have sight I do not".
Marienen - March 6, 2007 06:41 PM (GMT)
Marienen gave the dragon-turned-human a dry, terse smile. "I have met dragons before," she said. "Deep dragons, they were. I am distrustful by nature," she continued, that same dry smile on her face. "Your honor means nothing to me. Not until you have proven I can trust you." She settled down, keeping that smile, though her eyes were hard. "You would not see anyone, because they are not there. My sisters are hundreds of miles away, scattered across the land. We dance together in the moonlight, a bond only we truly understand. Your arrival takes me away from them, and they will know it, just as I know their song turned sad when I left the circle."
She reached for her harp, fiddling with the knobs until the strings were taut. She went carefully over each string, testing their sound, tightening and loosening as needed, until her harp sang sweetly. Her smile now was genuine, a joyful smile at being able to play, even if it was for some know-it-all half-dragon. Her smile twisted and became sour, and the harp reflected her attitude. She took a deep breath and let it out slowly, then began to play, leading into a song. Not long after, her voice, soft, but crystal clear, joined with the harp's soft melody.
